Thanks to Jack & Susan Starnes for taking this video.
Sweet, just beautiful!
You guys would win a picking contest.
I never knew you could do all that with a thumbpick. Great playing.
@@jeffloewi5632 thanks!
I'm from Baltimore, Maryland and each year we have a festival called ARTSCAPE. I don't know, but I guess this year was around the 30th. Anyway, in the first few years, Doc Watson (that's his last name?) preformed there. I think he played Smoke, smoke, smoke that cigarette. Puff, puff, puff it in til you smoke yourself to death. St. Peter at the golden gates I'm sorry you have to wait, but I just have to have another cigarette.
@@barrysmith4094 I think that's on Doc's album called Red Rocking Chair. I believe he learned it from a Phil Harris recording.
these are the "good old days" played by the fun guys.. much appreciated. cheers
Thanks a lot.
Two great thumb pickers.
This is amazing. Speaks to my heart. Beautiful.
Very glad. Thanks.
Doc would be proud, boys.
Hope so. Thanks.
Superrr! 🤠🪕🤝
Once you start watchin there’s no stopping
Indeed😂
Olan Gardner told me about Wayne Henderson when I was 15... a few years later Jack Hinshelwood.... I've been playing guitar with finger picks ever since. Olan was an old family friend. We lived in Christiansburg till I was almost 8.
Anyway I am 64 now and playing at Dollywood.
This is precious to me
Pickin' easy, picking hot. Whatever it's called, it's beautiful music.
Thanks user-kb2ts4jf1z.
@@jackhinshelwood1890 You are welcome. Keep up the sweet picking.
Love the smiles and you two were synced very well together. Great job!!
Many thanks.
Great job!!
Just a couple of good ole boys out in the back burning it down
Nice
Thanks both of the Starnes for filming this one. Gotta lurve this music. It brings back way too many memories. Well played gentlemen.
Many thanks for giving it a listen.
Wayne Henderson built the finest guitar I have ever played.
Wow!
Simply GREAT !! So good for the soul!!
Mighty fine pickin' guys.
Even the crickets in the background are in-synch with the tempo! ")
Nice picking’ fellas! Doc story pretty neat too.
Another good-un Jack. Keep em coming.
Hope to. Thanks.
Thumbpicks!
Its great to see you Jack and I'll never forget playing with you and Billy Baker at Fiddle Tunes in Port Townsend. It was a real bluegrass picking session, standing in a circle with an 80 year old fiddler that made the hair on my neck stand up every time he kicked off a song.
@@TyeeHox And who may you be, TyeeHox?
@@jackhinshelwood1890 I'm the Monroe style mandolin player that loaned you my '51 D18 for the back porch jam with Billy, and I sang tenor. Dave Baker is my name and I play all the BG instruments and ran a traditional festival in Grass Valley from '92-2006 called Wolf Mountain, which is now my band name.
I'm pretty starved for bluegrass here so it was a real treat when you two showed up. When Lightnin Wells comes for the Blues week we always sneak off for a bluegrass session.
@@TyeeHox great to hear from you.
Watcha need today buddy...
I'm got to go
Awesome, gentlemen
How can you Old timers make your finger's move that fast that ain't trick photography is it.i truly enjoyed it.thankyou
@@BigTim2023 Aspirin 😄
Older chicks that liked guys who played guitars way back when, still dig an old dog who plays like this!
Stay on Aspirin.
Mighty Fine Gents, Awesome.
Great picking, Great story.
Very nice boys.
Love it! Well done, fellers!
Excellent work gentlemen....
Awesome! You both are great.
Thanks very much.
So good
Man, that was a treat!! Thanks
How did I find this? This slaps harder than my moms belt.
Better hide that belt!
Cricket gets percussion credit!!
What kind of guitars are those?
Wayne made both of them.
I sell my guitar I will try to play Chess.
