  • In this episode of Automower Answers we continue from where we left off in our earlier video about what to check when you have a flashing blue LED in your charging station. Be sure to watch that video ( • Automower Answers: NO ... ) before moving on to the steps shown in this video. A lot of times the issue causing the "NO LOOP SIGNAL" error is solved with the steps shown in our previous video. But if you've checked all of those things and narrowed it down to definitely having a break in your wire somewhere in the yard and have used the method of swapping wires to isolate the part of your loop system with the break, then this video will show you what to do next. In this video we show you how to use an underground wire tester to locate the break in the wire by sending a tone through the wire. In this video we use the KOSLOL F02 underground wire tester.

      The most common feedback we would get is people not understanding how the tester actually worked and what to listen for.

    Thanks for all the information you provide in your video's. Ordered the tester and played with it to see how it worked. Today was my first "flashing blue" light. With the information you provided about switching the wires to locate the segment, then use the tester to locate the trouble, everything worked out quite well.

    The techniques explained in this video probably saved me 10 hours of hunting and re-securing wire. Thank you for this video, and all of the other helpful content you post. Just another hint that I wish I had thought of - for anyone with a security camera system, if you have a narrow window of time which you know you lost your loop signal, skim through your footage for that time period. I never would have thought a survey crew hired by the neighbors could have snuck onto my half acre and cut my boundary wire with a shovel without me noticing. If I had checked the cameras I would have known right where to look for the wire break. I walked past the patch of grass they dug up and laid back down, didn’t even notice. The fox and hound worked great though. In case anyone is keeping score, the wire was on my side of the property boundary, but they cut out an 18 inch circle around the survey pin!

    You to the rescue again. Used your video to wire around a fence back yard to front yard. Works flawlessly. . .many thanks. Now two days later I'm not getting the green light/broken wire. Found this video and just ordered the Kolsol Wire Locator Tool from Amazon. Will let you know how it works. I'm feeling pretty confident. Thanks again.

      @@EshlemaniaTV With your visual demo I think even I can do this. . .lol. I gotta tell ya, your video demos are the very best available on the internet. Thanks for actually doing what the video title says. . ."Locating a broken wire" for example. My tester Kosol like yours comes tomorrow. I tried the am radio thing using two different radios with no luck. I hope this works. If not, it was worth the try per your video. If re wiring is necessary, at least I'll feel confident in my attempts at this point to solve the problem. Thanks again. I'll keep you posted. Excellent excellent demo video.

I ordered the KOLSOL F02 Underground Cable Locator from Amazon, it works great just as you showed and so I was able to find and fix the break in my loop signal and my Husqvarna auto mower is bank in business. Just in time too, the spring growth is now really kicking in over here in Seattle area.

    Thank you for this video, especially detailing exactly which system you used and the sensitivity that it brought. I knew I had a partial break in the wire, because the WORX base unit was showing green (green good, red no connection), I bought a different wire tracer, which was naff, and did the AM radio "trick" which didn't work at all for me.. Within 10 minutes of using the system that you have highlighted, I found the dodgy wire, which was a partial break at a connector)... no other system was sensitive enough to help. Highly recommend the kolsol F02, rather than the cheap wire tracers on ebay / amazon.

    Hi,
    Many thanks for your most informative and clear videos on resolving issues on the Husqvarna 450x. Living in Scotland does unfortunately prevents me from doing business with you for which I am extremely sorry.
    I have lots of problems with flashing blue lights and have you videos on the subject most helpful. I do have a question though and that is when using the Kolson NF-816 (a most useful tool) should one disconnect those wires which do not have the transmitter plugged in. I other words all wires are unplugged from the docking station and the suspected broken wire is connected to the transmitter part of the Kolson NF-816.
    Kindest regards and thank you for all your hard work getting these videos up and running.
    Ian

    Hello, have you ever experienced a situation where you can hear a tone from the wire finder, but the resistance in the wire (test by a multi-meter) is so high that the charging station will not recognize a circuit? I have used the guide wires to narrow it down, but its still the biggest section of wire. Now I think I will have to cut the boundary and make a smaller circuit to narrow the location further. Not sure how the wire could be damaged enough to interfere with the circuit, but not severed. A pain.

    I have been using the AM radio trick which works pretty well but think I will pick up a tester to see if I can improve my performance. I originally only had one guide wire but sine your last video I have added 2 more which has really helped cut down on my break location times.
    I have a large yard with a 450X. Right now I mow about the limit (1.5 acers) with the mower. I really need to add another mower but I do not have power to the back of the property to place another charging base to mow the back of the property. Any suggestions. my goal is to have mowers running t the same time to mow my entire 2 acers.
    I thought about dividing the yard into 2 halves (side to side instead of front to back) but worry that the yard would look uneven. Would prefer to have the back of the yard have its own mower, but not sure how to get it to the working area without running power 100 yards to the back of the property for another base.
    Keep up the great work

      The AM radio used to be my go to and I still use it occasionally. It works well in most cases. We ran into a few properties though where there was a lot of interference in the ground and ended up using the tester shown in the video.
      For adding another mower to the back of your property with no power, Solar panels would probably be the easiest thing to do besides running power from your house. Not sure what else you could do in a situation like that and have it be feasible versus running power out there.

    Hello,
    to test with the KOSLOL (I just bought it too) you left the base connected to the power supply ?
    Did you remove the three cables (AL, AR and G1) from the base?
    And which cable did you connect the KOSLOL to ?
    Thanks

    • @EshlemaniaTV
      @EshlemaniaTV  3 роки тому +2

      You can disconnect the power supply if you want. It shouldn't make a difference. You really only have to remove the wire that you will be testing. But in some cases it does make it easier in cases if you disconnect all the wires to help eliminate extra feedback and static to help hear the tone better.

    What is the best wire to use to fix breaks? Can you buy it at Lowes/HD/Menards?

    • @EshlemaniaTV
      @EshlemaniaTV  4 роки тому

      The best wire to use is the same wire that is in the rest of the system. Don't think you can get it at Lowes. A dealer is the best bet. If you do not have a dealer near you then send an email to roboticmowerservices@gmail.com and they can get you fixed up with wire and splices.

    I have one spot that is continuously chewed up , is it ok to put the wire in pvc conduit for a 20 ft section under gravel

    • @EshlemaniaTV
      @EshlemaniaTV  2 роки тому

      Yes, it is ok. You actually might want to use PEX tubing instead since it isn't as rigid as PVC and usually costs less.

    Are you still using the original wire on your installs?

    • @EshlemaniaTV
      @EshlemaniaTV  4 роки тому

      Depends on the soil where we are installing. If it's in an area like a development where people aren't driving through their yards and there are not a lot of rocks and tree roots, then yes. Haven't really had any issues with the actual wire itself in those environments.

    Yea thanks for the tips but none of that has worked for me.
    I tried the pro version of that tool just wound up throwing it against a wall.
    It’s inconsistent enough to keep me guessing and digging.
    The guide wire tests tells me it’s one side of the loop but i can’t seem to find it as the tester says its all good all the way to where guide 2 goes in. Then after trying the other side of the loop it’s showed flashing green. Thought it was fixed went about my business and after mower finished charging it went back to flashing blue.
    This is after only one season. I fully charged it and brought it and the base inside.
    Put it back out and it never worked
    Don’t understand what could have possibly broken over just one winter.
    After getting screwed by husqvarna for free install and the “installer” I am not impressed.
    3000 just to be frustrated and have to get landscaper to cut grass now.
    Too bad you guys are not closer.

    • @EshlemaniaTV

      Just connect the tester to the guide wire instead of a boundary wire. It's the same procedure.
