Wow! I am so pleased to see so many people have enjoyed the first episode on buying the new boat. I completed the 3 day trip home on Dec 2nd 2024. There will be a video coming soon, documenting that trip home. Stay tuned!
Sweeeeeeet. Didn’t take long for the first video. You and Carl did well. Congrats Mike!
@@SWOguyUSN found a good boat for a good price. Carl was a huge help along the way. Very good to have him representing me.
I looked at this boat online and talked with the broker...I wish you tremendous success with your new to you boat!!!
Thank you so much! So far so good! I made an offer the same day after looking at the boat.
Love the Layout of the Silverton
Great boat and they are a great value for what you are getting!
Great job showing us your maintenace progress. Keep them coming. Thanks
Thank you Larry! I hope to be on a 2-3 week release schedule for videos!
Glad to see everything is coming along and going well with your new purchase!!
@@everythingboatswithCaptFrank thank you Frank!
I have always said these are super underrated boats. Great layout, good diesels and well made for a production boat.
@@Farallonjoe totally agree. Great value here.
good luck on trip north keep us posted beautiful silverton twice the size of my 1990 silverton 37 !
You must love your carpet, the first thing I would have done would be to get those hatches open, especially with my stiff neck 😄
The second episode is out!
I know, I need to get that done soon!
Great boat!! just subscribed looking forward to future videos, Cheers from Mick and Annie from Australia and "Merry Christmas"
@@mickannieobrien2803 wow! Thanks so much. Merry Christmas to you all as well!!
I agree on oil change fill using reverso, the oil is not going to be properly warm, it’s sending it up hil, and the length of pipe on usually one of the engines is asking a lot from the pump.
@@Harrybollox I think if I had a bigger funnel, my method of filling would have been better. But for what I had, it worked.
Congratulations on your new boat! Looks very nice and I am sure you will enjoy it. I would love to have a newer 34' Silverton Convertible.
Thanks!!! I'm very excited to have found this one!
AMAZING!!!! Safe travels!!
Thanks Mom!!
After wiggling around Crusaders, those Volvo Pentas' will be a walk in the park. You'll find an easier way to service them. Congratulations on the new boat.
@@charlesdavenport2543 I hope you're right! Haha. Thank you!
Love this🎉❤🇺🇸
Looks fun, enjoy your new journey.
Thanks! We are just beginning!
Beautiful boat, best of luck with it
Appreciate it! Thank you!
Congrats!
Thank you!
I am a marine surveyor and broker. I used this on a comp on one in Massachusetts I surveyed recently.
@@keithanderson2079 surveyed well and performed well on the trip home. A fair amount of cosmetic stuff, electronics were zero, and appliances needed attention. I've got some mechanical work to do in the engine room but it's not a show stopper. Boost sensors on both mains and a good deep clean.
I grew up in the summers right down the road from the Silverton factory and currently use the marina the owners the old Silverton factor Marine Unlimited in Toms RIver N.J
@@mrbuda944 bet that was neat to see the boats being made. Very cool.
Regardless, have fun!
Thanks!!
11k views already ! Good stuff Mike !
@@christophermarvel5576 I'm honestly shocked. This is amazing.
I've watched all of your Silverton videos! You do good stuff bro!
@joebrooke8818 thanks y'all!
good looking boat, congrats
@@gc1914 thank you!
Looking good -- congrats!
Thanks Greg!
Congrats on the new boat! Could you buy some wind socks for your mic. For somebody who is hard of hearing, the in the wind stuff is very hard to hear.
@@dane_amsoilguy4962 thanks. I know I need to get one. I need to get all my DJI equipment finalized!
you can use the oil change system to pump oil in
@@willwhite5382 oh I can, I just don't like to.
I think you need to change all those fluids again in August 🤣
Well the underside looks all redone.
I hope you're keeping the name.......it fits you
Clean bottom and fresh start there. No more Barbie...
First time watching your videos. Nice video.
Do you restore them then sell?
That would be the smart thing to do, fix them to sell. However, I found the 34 and later this 42 to be very good buys, with good bones and mechanical that needed updating and TLC. The 34 will be coming for sale soon...
For the raw water pump impeller....try removing the pump from the engine
@@stephentaylor8217 sometimes that is easier. This case, maybe even harder because of how they've got the hard piping tied to the pump housing. Something to look into.
If those shafts are 1inch-1" 1/4", I might have some extras in the garage.
Let me know?
@@trez2187 2" prop shafts.
@WJsLifeonaBoat I tried
@@trez2187 I appreciate it thanks! And thanks for watching!
The 42c is a great boat. The only regular issue was deck screws being over tight and with stripped threads all get loose, all outside stainless is 304 and it gets rusty, one boat had the fusion weld from the railing crack but it happen to only one boat. We rode from Millville all the way down to Puerto Rico in 5 to 6 days, it can take a beating, good boat.
@@Lancaster7 the three day trip home went really well. Definitely handles the seas well and is well mannered docking.
Nice boat. If you don’t mind what’s a ballpark purchase price and what do you plan on for a budget for repairs. Those Volvo Diesel’s? Not bad, I prefer Cummins or Cats but that’s just for parts and access. Good look will be watching more
That's my son. I'm so excited for his next adventure. Thanks for watching.
Purchase price was in the low 100s and plan to spend $40k minimum in the next year or so on maintenance, engine service, electronics, and upgrades.
@@judyluce3141 You should be very proud
Sometimes the cheap tools at harbor freight can work…..they sell pullers and strap wrenches…..may work……
@@JohnLee-im7iu yeah, that's where I went next. Just needed something to get by. I didn't have ALL of my tools that weekend.
Coat the impeller shaft with grease/lube to prevent it sticking next time…..
@@JohnLee-im7iu ahhh good tip. I coated it with that lube that came with it. But some anti size may work better on the splines.
Should have just ripped the carpets up and got to it!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is the plan when I get back to homeport.
30 mins geez
Worth it!
Is that Newman from Seinfeld ?
That's me!
Wow. Full video. No views underway. How disappointing. Question: Up on the plane, what is the speed? 22? At cruising speed, what is the fuel consumption per mile? I bet she will eat you out of house and home.
No worries, this episode was just to cover the maintenance to prepare for going underway! Currently, we are working our way North and filming a portion of it when possible. Cruising 2000 rpms we were running about 23 mph. Estimated fuel burn is about 35 gallons per hour at that speed. She has more RPMs to give, WOT we hit 33mph.
@@WJsLifeonaBoatcruises at 20 knots and WOT 28.7 knots. Nautical terms
@@hterrebrood you're right!
They sucked when they where new. Yeah that’s a thing.
Yeah... such a terrible boat! :(
Cheap brand. Hope for your wallet sake you didn't pay more then about 100,000.
@@rski1036 thanks for the feedback. Do you own a Silverton or a yacht to validate your opinion?
