i thought this was going to be a retrospective on all the KH games but now seeing that its 3 hours of JUST KH1? WE ARE EATING GOOD TONIGHT I AM SO EXCITED YOU'RE DOING THEM ALL
While I guess I could have tried to talk about them all, I feel like I would have glossed over a lot of stuff I wanted to cover. 1 thing at a time lol Hope you enjoy it 💖
@@imklubb of course! i'm more than happy you're doing them separately, these games have so many little details that no one points out! love your stuff 💕
For anyone that’s played KH1 before and didn’t know, at the beginning of End of the World you can just follow the direction the rocks on the ground are pointing in to make your way through the invisible maze. The rocks are all shaped like arrows
I've never seen any of your videos before this one and I'm shocked you don't have more subscribers! Clicked on vid for Kingdom Hearts, stayed for your vibe and humour!
On the topic of the Ursula fights - in the first one, you have to use magic of the same color that the caulron is glowing. Blue cauldron = blizzard, yellow = thunder, red = fire. In the second fight, you can actually cheese it by wedging yourself behind her head, allowing you to avoid almost every attack she has and just wailing on the back of her head.
1:34:00 This is another case where magic is way better than strength, because during the part where you don't have your Keyblade, you can still use magic and it's just as good as it was with the Keyblade.
One major thing you dind't mention about the final mix version is that it fixed that you could not get one of the trinities after boogies house was destroyed! Which ment you were locked out of collecting all trinities!
I grew up with this game, one of the first games I beat by myself (with help from my bio dad) was kingdom hearts 2, but I always saw my aunt playing the first game while I was at my moms. I saw a lot of the hippo lagoon, and I believe I saw a lot of Agrabah. I was always reading the guidebook, and I loved to mimic sora, lol. I've played through most of the games and I'm still working on 100%ing the main line series
That's super awesome. It's really cool hearing all the different experiences and nostalgia people had on this franchise. It really left quite the imprint on everyone's heart
That is a super relief to hear! I strive to make content that fans of the game or me will love! My secret is I pretend I'm make the video for my mom lol 😅
I’ll echo what others have said, but I was so stoked when I realized this is just one part of your ranking and retrospective of the series. I loved your guitar hero video and your editing and general video writing and production style is S-Tier stuff.
Take a shot everytime he says kingdom hearts, seriously tho i love this video man this is genuinely some amazing work and i cant wait to see more!!! :D
17:42 to elaborate on this system and how magic works in Kingdom hearts 1 your magic powers directly tied to the number of MP bars you have. ^•^ the reason that this is important distinction to know is because of the fact that for speedrunning, magic is actually the absolute best thing to go into for Kingdom hearts 1 and is inherently broken due to animation cancels, and because of this the correct option at the start of the game is always to pick magic, because of the fact that it gives you one extra MP bar that you cannot get any other way. ^•^ 48:44 one interesting thing about this fight is that there's an environmental part of the fight that you can interact with! If you gain the early blizzard you can turn off the stove that way the heartless can't light thier fans? Batons? I've never been too sure about what the weapon they're actually using is.... XD it's a really cool interaction that is almost entirely pointless.... XDDD but it's an interesting little bit of game design that is surprising to see in this first game that I wish ideas like that had carried over into the rest of the series! 1:15:00 no it was incredibly infuriating when I was a kid it actually happened to be my least favorite level because of it. It wasn't until very recently even that I started liking Atlantica for the sole purpose of a recent theory that's come out. That the idea is is that it was originally meant to be a magic bass level as fighting in melee in this world and everything else dealing with melee in this world just seems so much harder.... Which makes sense but still only slightly redeems it. XD 1:44:17 actually these are required if you didn't fully lock some of the worlds. ^•^ you might mention this in the story part which at that point then I'll remove this as I'll look like a complete idiot..... XD but any Miss worlds that were not properly locked have to be defeated here that way they can still be protected otherwise they are considered that they're falling into darkness. ^•^ I also originally had meant to wait to post this till I was done adding all the time stamps cuz I really do enjoy your video I just like trying to like make one comment concise? But I'll probably be editing this comment as i continue to watch until it says no more because of the fact of well character allowment.... XD
Even for casual play magic is pretty easily the best thing to go for. Once you have enough MP, Gravity instant-kills almost everything because the percent of the enemy's HP that it does scales off your MP, so at a certain point it gets to 100%.
Your video quality is actually unbelievable. I got the guitar hero video randomly recommended, decided to sub just in case, and here we go. I shouted at my wife "DUDE HE PUT UP A 3 HOUR VIDEO ON KINGDOM HEARTS THE SERIES!" and then minutes later "IT'S JUST FOR THE FIRST GAME!" I really like this game. Yeah Kingdom Hearts 2 is my favorite, but I really enjoy the first one for the sense of adventure and wonder. My head canon is that a lot of the unintentional jankiness kind of works between the two games as it shows Sora's growth. In the first game, the camera is more zoomed in, your movement is clunkier, the heartless seem more sinister as your first real encounter has Night of Fate and no weapon. The second game has a zoomed out camera, a much smoother Sora who gains more and more abilities and movement options, and the heartless look like a minor enemy in comparison, where you see them outside Yen Sid's tower and silly music plays. I miss the level design of the first game, but it also just feels more like a childlike wonder view of the world as Sora sees beyond his island for the first time. Ultimately I really enjoy the first game even with some of the roughness, and the self-contained story it tells is just excellent. Thanks Klubb, and looking forward to the next one!
Hearing you say that is such a relief. When I was working on this, I thought people would be upset that I'm only talking about the first game, but it seems like its been the opposite for the most part! I hope those 3 hours were an entertaining one! I love your head canon actually! It actually works even more with Kingdom Hearts 3 in mind with him losing is powers and all that. Hopefully I don't grow old and gray before I get around to making a video about all of the games 😅
I just wanted to say that all of your videos bring a sense of joy to me, especially your guitar hero video, I recently got another one and I forgot just how good these games are, so again thanks for the videos.
VERY excited for your next video for Re:/COM - it's genuinely my third fave of the series, behind KH2 and........ Melody of Memories 🙈🙈 I LOVE RHYTHM GAMES SORRY - IT WAS LITERALLY THE FIRST EVER GAME I PLAT-ED TOO LMFAO [also very interested to know if you'd do a mini review of that one haha though doubt you would, understandably!] Anyway, new subber because I adored your jokes and editing style, and listening to you passionately talk about something you love [and I do, too!], was a lot of fun! As said, looking forward to the next video 👀
Now hold up bucko, there is something you should know. Iger wasn't exactly CEO back during KH1's development. Eisner was still calling the shots, and it turns out...while SE was practically in full swing on KH1's development....they didn't get approval from top brass at Disney, so it was practically on the edge of cancellation or heavy redoing just from that. So they called Eisner himself out to Japan to see the game and hopefully gain official approval...and well, he liked it. Basically just said "keep at it and do it right." after a showcase of what SE had made for the game at the time.
@@imklubb also I'm so sad you aren't much of a Halloween Town fan. Was surprised you didn't bring up the costumes. I think Hollow Bastion is pretty much adored by us KH fans fandom wide :)
28:20 I'm surprised to hear that's what you hear as consensus. I've always seen take staff drop sword, because that gives you an extra MP point and magic in KH1 becomes incredibly powerful once you have a lot of MP, and take night because it saves a lot of time in the lategame, while a slightly tougher early game just means you practice more and learn the skills you'll need later.
I didn't say it in the video but I actually went Night for my FM run. I personally didn't have any issues with it but I could see other players struggling. I think for future games I need to do separate runs with different builds to get a better all round experience

Great video, I'd suggest watching some speedrunners going forward, that's how I learnt how useful summons can actually be. Especially for Kingdom Hearts 2 where I used to never use summons Until I learnt that they're actually extremely useful when used right
That is actually a super awesome idea. I feel like that's one aspect I couldn't cover was the different play styles people play. I'll take that into consideration for future games! I hope you enjoyed the video 😁
Magic is sooo good man it's a strong carry in critical runs. And genie and Bambi help this magic based build. It's a really great aspect of the game and I feel like magic took a big back seat in kh2
never played any of the KH games but its cool to see how much impact they still have on current Final Fantasy games, playing through Rebirth now and I see a lot of parallels. mainly holding L1 to access quick commands and how useless summons are lol
Okay only somewhat related but. If you're buying every movie represented in the series, may I request Pooh's Grand Adventure: The Search for Christopher Robin as representation for KH2 Hundred Acre Wood? That movie needs more love lol, and KH2 seems to be one of the few places that gives it such.
This was an awesome video and as a person who has the Platinum for kh 1 final mix magic more over aeroaga and curaga + leaf bracer are your best friends in The proud mode playthrough or any playthrough of kh for that because aeroaga also does chip damage to enemies but is a lil harder to obtain you gotta get a chest in the pirate ship in Neverland to get aeroa and then you gotta dalmatian hunt 😂🤣 you get aeroaga at end of of it if you got the chest in never land other wise they give you aeroa it's just little secret ways to obtain certain magics that make this game awesome because my build in kh 1 was pick wand drop sword and I begin my adventure at dawn because I wanted easier levels faster and could grind late game with exp up items you get late game via the moogle synthesis that's always what I did anyways and side note oh my gawd when I did the two trophies for beating the game less than 15 hours and never changing armor at one time it was like a masochist run and I did it on beginner and at the end ansem was harder than sephiroth on proud mode to me crazy what difference levels and right equipment can do but finally beat it in 5 - 6 hours not record breaking but still 😅
