I made sure to compile all of my favorite chalk paint furniture makeovers and furniture flips that you can easily do. Flipping furniture for beginners is absolutely possible using my line of Amitha Verma chalk finish paint!
Many of these projects were done with my two most popular colors: French gray and Belgian blue.
These extreme furniture flips would not be the same without those colors!

I love how with a little bit of paint and a change of fabric, these pieces that might have looked like trash to one person, have completely transformed into beautiful and functional furniture. These makeovers help to celebrate all of the unique elements of these antiques without totally starting anew 🥰 Which project would *_you_* replicate in your home?

I cannot even begin to imagine taking on an upholstery project! Paint, yes…complicated fabric shapes, no. Wow. So beautiful.

I can completely understand that, Deb! It is an intimidating task, but once you let yourself do it, you realize that it's not impossible. If you have the budget for it, you can always commission someone else to do that part. OR just stop at the paint! That alone will make a huge difference 😊

Amitha if I could bathe in your chalk paint to freshen myself up, I would::)) (I might scare the neighbors though) thanks for showing me your inspirational chalk makeovers.

Hahaha I love that! Though it might turn into a nice exfoliator, I wouldn't recommend 😂 Thank you for sending your love and for showing your support, Sandy 💕

Amitha, your craftsmanship is on another level. Your vision and understanding of paints and materials is exciting and creative. Are you doing all this work yourself, or do you have a skillful team of specialists who are adept in each of their particular areas? The upholstery work and refinishing are masterful and top notch!!
It's amazing to see the transformation from weathered raw wood to finished fine furniture. This breakdown video touches upon the various steps it takes to create magic I'm sure the process is meticulous, painstaking, and not easily accomplished. The end result are beautiful visions of the past brought back to life, and will last the test of time.
I have so much to learn, great master!

You've sent such high praise my way, Christine! Thank you for your beautiful kindness 😊 Much of it is done by me, but I do often seek assistance from my team who also knows how to paint and upholster furniture this way. I'm so glad that you found this video helpful. That's always the goal ❤️

I absolutely love your products! I’ve bought 3 different shades of the chalk paint & my projects turned out so pretty. Gave me confidence that I can transform things!

Amitha, another great episode. Added to one of my favorites. Ironically I am working on some French Bergere Chairs. I have painted the chair frames in a swiss coffee white (kind of bright white), not really the color I think I want. I would like something like what your settee color is, from my monitor it looks like a cream antiqued color, but you used gray and blue, from seeing in person if you could describe, what the color looks like? upholstery I am looking to do in a white fabric, possibly linen, but Im liking that cotton ticking you used. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Also one more thing, I am in California, and I have been trying to find someone whom does down cushions, can you give any suggestions on how to find someone, because I am not having any luck. Thank you in advance. -Shantle

Shantle, these are all very good questions! French gray and Belgian blue have a beautiful, neutral hue to them. There's is a hint of cream undertone in both colors so they are not entirely cool-toned. If you're looking to break-up the white, those two shades are a tried and true duo that I would recommend. If you want to enhance the aged look, you can always use some brown or gray antiquing glaze overtop as well. As for the upholstery, I would need to see pictures of your chairs to give a proper recommendation. Can you email them to me with your questions? You can send photos to this email: hello@farmhousebyamitha.com 😊

Oh so beautiful!! I love them all especially the last sofa is the solid fabric velvet? I actually have an old French sofa that I would love to cover like the last one (in my dreams). Is there a way to deep clean a robins egg colored velvet fabric without ruining it? How do you deep old discarded dirty wood pieces before you chalk paint them?? Thank you for all your videos!

Hi, Lynda! Sorry for the delayed response. I wanted to make sure I thoroughly answered all of your questions 😊 I used a performance linen on the interior of the settee or sofa; and then an embroidered linen fabric on the outside. One set of pillows is velvet fabric, and the other one with the tulips are cut velvet, so the flowers are velvet and the background is linen.
I encourage you to cover your old French sofa! You can find an upholsterer in your city who can do it for you or take a class on how to do it yourself. There's no better feeling than giving your favorite piece of furniture a new life, it's a feeling you can't even get from buying a new piece!
When I'm dealing with special fabrics, or light colors I often call in the experts. Having a house full of boys, accidents tend to happen from time to time. I simply find a company that knows how to clean linen, velvet and light colors. I don't do it often, so it's worth the call to ensure my furniture looks great for the next ten plus years.
I hope that helps! Thank you for watching and for all of your great questions. If you do a makeover project, please be sure to send us your before and after photos! I would love to see them 💕

Wow Amitha! You have such an amazing eye--what beautiful transformations! Do you do all the sewing and upholstery work too? I’m so impressed!

Hi Camilla! Thank you for watching and your kind words! I select the pieces to paint, paint them and also source and select the fabrics I want to use on the piece depending on the project or room where they are going to go. Then I partner with an upholsterer in my city to help me build up the chair or sofa again because sometimes the guts are missing, or need some reinforcement and have them help me with the applying the fabric to the piece.
I encourage you to try the part you think you will love the most, painting or reupholstering and then get help with the rest.
Thank you so much for watching! If you do take on a project be sure to share you before & after photos with me 🤗

@@FarmhousebyAmitha Girl, I’ve done so many projects I’ve probably forgotten half of them. I’m 57 years old, but I was just like you when I was your age-not afraid to try anything, changing up everything all the time, colors, textiles, paint, decor style. Been through it all! 😉. About 15 years ago I did do some upholstery on some benches and a French wingback chair and a French settee. I can send you some picks, but I’m not on any social media other than youtube. Email is about my speed. 😂.

Wow, I love hearing your project stories! It's great that you're not afraid to throw some paint on furniture and mixing up the fabrics. I often hear from people that painting antiques or vintage pieces is borderline sinful 😂 Honestly, I paint and re-upholster these pieces to extend their lives, repair them, and emphasize the parts of them that are _already_ beautiful. *Please do* email me those before and after pictures! You can send them to hello@farmhousebyamitha.com 🤗
