Lorelai being a seamstress was confusing me too until i saw the context of it differently. This is very early on but what alot of people dont realise is that Lorelai is EXTREMELY intelligent, she only has to be shown or read something one time to understand it completely. This isnt a spoiler bc its a tiny tiny moment but theres a scene a few seasons time where she reads an oven manufacturing book because shes bored and theres nothing else to read, then a few days later she helps fix an oven because she remembers it line for line. She was on track for Yale which yes theres of course nepotism there but she had the mind to back it up - thats a big part of why getting pregnant with Rory was such a problem, not only was she too young but also "wasting her potential" because of how smart she is. She also has a full time job, is getting a degree in business management all while raising a teenager, keeping up her relationships AND taking abuse from her parents again so that her kid can have a relationship with her grandparents. Yes, emotionally, she is very stunted but holy SHIT she is so smart and the fact that all it took was owning a sewing machine and being too poor to buy clothes for herself and Rory when she ran away from home to become an absolute MASTER with it is a true testament to her intelligence. I love it, its a wonderful example of how powerful her brain really is, and how she uses that skill to help her community and her family 🥰 IM A LORELAI GIRL SORRY EVERYONE
Yes! We were also rather tight on money growing up and mom definitely is a case of "wasted potential". She taught herself to sew to save money. Nothing fancy like Rory's dress here but still. Nowadays though sewing is an expensive hobby lol. Decent fabrics are expensive af. But yeah, I don't think I give my mom enough credit with how well she made ends meet and encouraged us to learn and read and be curious and passionate. All of her kids are doing really well in life (so far at least 😉)

I have been a huge Gilmore Girls fan since it aired originally (Hi, I'm an old) and I never thought about what it'd be like to tag along as a new generation watches for the first time. This is one of my all-time favorite episodes of the series. Yes, it is sad, but there are so many wonderful moments. I have SO many thoughts but I don't want to say anything to spoil it. I'll just say these few things: 1) Luke is the hill to die on. You're not wrong. 2) The random townies with the bells DO reappear. The townies are HUGE characters in the GG universe. You'll see more of them as time goes on. 3) you'll want to reach through the screen and shake each character while cursing them through gritted teeth at moments through the series but that's why I love it - it's not always perfect. I like the way it shows some complex dynamics. 4) the Revival was... not it. I view it as something separate from the series. Season 7 finale is controversial but I thought it was lovely. I'm going to shut up as to not spoil anything, but I'm so excited I found this video. Gonna go back and watch your other GG videos now, subscribed, and will be watching along. Enjoy! Kelly Bishop (Emily) recently published a memoir. It's called "The Third Gilmore Girl." and I found it so interesting to learn more about her life both before and after Gilmore Girls. It's also heartwarming to hear how much fun she had with Gilmore Girls and says that she, Lauren Graham (Lorelai) and Amy Sherman Palladino (creator of Gilmore Girls) are all still close friends today. I listened to the audiobook since Kelly Bishop narrates it. I'd recommend it! Probably just wait until you get at least halfway through the show since she talks about the filming some scenes (I think in season 5). It's not huge spoilers or anything, it would just make more sense once you've watched it!

It's so funny because when I first watched this show, I was around Rory's age and therefore more focussed on her complicated love life. In my head, the things that happened with Lorelai's love interests were more 'grown-up relationships' and I remembered them to be complicated, like Rory's. But, really, seeing it as an adult with you now, Lorelai's relationship options aren't even that complicated. 6:30 I feel there are a lot of scenes like this through out the show, where the characters or event aren't important but are meant to make the town feel more real, there are many video analysis that put it better of course, one of my favourite was someone that said that the town was like another character
As I have said, I love your take even though it's the opposite of mine. In the fandom there's a definite divide between those that side with Emily and those that side with Lorelei. Once always wondered how they wife at their conclusions. You also notice things I don't notice. I never noticed that at least two weeks had to go by before Rory and lorelai made up. Plus two weeks went by before Rory apologized to Emily. Makes you wonder about the Friday night dinners in between.
I think Dean does like to read. He got the _Outsiders_ reference in the previous episode, and we've previously established he's a Hunter S. Thompson fan.

Everyone loves the Lorelais because the name means "alluring enchantress", I'm forcing my boyfriend to join my 78th rewatch and he asked about the name on ep.1 and we googled it and i was Pikachu shocked but it all makes sense. The writing was v on the nose 😅

Not sure what this means, but honestly I was referring to comments that have since been deleted..not by me! I don’t mind people having differing opinions, in fact I welcome it. But I don’t really wanna do personal attacks, which is understandable
@BridgetteAmofah It is absolutely understandable! That's going to come with a public platform though. Really wish it didn't, because it's not appropriate. I think it's cool that you engage with commenters now but when your channel grows I will understand if you have to stop reading the comments at some point due to trolls and personal attacks 🙈 Lots of creators have to do that to protect their mental health.
