Wow! What a find! The floor is going to look incredible with the staircase. The more work you do, the more evident it is that this old lady of a convent went to the right person. You're peeling back the awful cosmetic surgery & revealing more & more of her original beauty.
I am curious if the original granite floor is below the steps at the doorway leading outside, would there be a step missing under or near the doorway ?
I really hope any areas downstairs Billy and Co. find the flagstone, they keep it. I think it's a great way to preserve as much of the original convent as possible. (Also cheaper than having to buy new tiles for each room.)
I noticed in the last video that the bannister has a finial on one of the posts in the attic, and you can see they must have sawed off the finials at the floors below, likely to get furniture up and around the landings. It would be so cool if, after all is furnished, you replace all the finials to give the staircase its original historical beauty. I can't wait to see it fully restored. I think this is my favorite "reveal" of this whole project so far.
I can't explain exactly why I get so happy seeing the staircase being revealed, but it really feels like the right move to take those walls away and let the staircase shine on its own! It is so beautiful, I'm glad that they didn't remove the railings or any of the features and instead just worked around it so we could see it again and enjoy it for its beauty.
Yanis is most definitely in his happy place while doing demo! He and Steve were BEASTS today. I’m so happy you’re working on this area of the building. Every time y’all use that staircase I think oh gosh I can’t wait to see it how it was meant to be. It’s stunning! Even in the dusty state it is now. Great work all! ❤❤❤
What an exciting find! Those beautiful original floors next to the staircase would make the room sing its history. Best of luck with the back-breaking work!
I get tired just watching them. I like that your father is as active as he is. Many seniors are crippled up because they sit all day. Your chateau/convent has given him a purpose. Wish I could bottle Yanis’ energy.
MARVELOUS! You must be SO thrilled to find that flagstone floor! And that stunning granite tread! I am so happy for you Billy. This Convent purchase and renovation is definitely MEANT TO BE! It certainly will be interesting to uncover the layout of that ground floor area. I am so looking forward to seeing what you find!. Thank you for sharing this journey with all of us, Billy . ❤
The nuns may have not left treasures of silver and gold hidden away, but what has been found hidden under concrete or fake ceilings has been an absolute treasure all in its own. The hidden original everything is so wonderful to see of an era so long ago.
Billy, you need a industrial jackhammer for that floor job. The original flagstone is very nice to have. Love that you're reopening the beauty of the past.
@@AprilRaine60 - if you look you’ll see the concrete is sitting on a bed of sand! That allows someone to lift the edge with a bar with a hard wood block as the fulcrum snapping off chunks. No need to hammer or cut.
I think you’ll be doing “more” for quite some time Billy. That just means more videos for us to watch & more revenue for you. Win, win. That floor will be beautiful along with the staircase when completed. ❤
You'd think I'd be used to you and your crew revealing original features of the convent. But it never gets old. Seeing that floor gave me chills. You're touching history.
Oh, my! That floor looks lovely, hope it’s in the whole space. I think the building is teasing you, revealing her secrets one by one as your (and team’s) hard work “earns” them. 👍🏻👍🏻
If that historical Convent hadn’t fallen into Billy Petherick’s hands, think of what would have been lost. This project is wonderful, and saw are all the crew! Great work, as always.
Yanis and Steve are powerhouses with those sledge hammers. That granite floor is beautiful next to the staircase. I know the nuns who have walked those stairs are smiling down on your progress.
What a surprise Billy! The Convent keeps on giving and you're the one, along with your Dad, Yanis, Rick and now Steve who has rejoined, are opening up some more surprises! WOW!
I love how they are trying so hard to keep or restore the place. Now a days people always want to remove the beautiful structures for more modern things. Which destroys the history and beauty of the places. Wonderful work thank you for the restoration.
Very exciting to find the original stone floor!!! That area will be a complete transformation. It will be SO open and grand, which is befitting to the grand staircase😄🙌🏼❤️🇺🇸
I absolutely love seeing the modern go and the 18th century come back to life. It’s absolutely beautiful! I can’t wait to see the stairs cleaned up and the flagstone floors!
I can only imagine how beautiful this staircase is going to be with the original flagstone floor and the wooden rails are fully restored. It's going to look absolutely amazing.
Billy while you are all digging out that floor you need to be playing an old song from US, called 16 tons, I think the singer was Ernie Ford.Perfect song for what you’re doing 😂😂😂😂❤
I can't wait to see that stairwell opened all of the way to the attic. I'm curious, you can tell that the wall along the right side (my left) was added as it covers the steps, will that be coming down as well? I've never been to France, maybe you can open it for tours at some point. I'm sure many of us would love to see the finished product after years of watching you guys renovate.
Awesome floor! We had those floors in a house we built in North Carolina. They were reclaimed flagstones from Burgundy. They were beautiful. It's going to be a lot of work exposing them but it will be worth it. I'm picturing a large round table in the center of the foyer with a great big, beautiful flower arrangement on it. I foresee a light yellow wall in that hall. It's gonna be great! Where's Michael and how is the kitchen coming along?
I recently discovered this channel and finally finished watching all the videos starting from day 0 :) This one is the first video I was actually expecting. And only today I realized the amount of work done in the convent daily. Amazing!
How majestic the staicase and hall is looking as it slowly emerges again. The discovery of the period floor only adds to the thrill. Hard work indeed, but will be worth it for ages to come.
Such an outstanding accomplishment! Mick is an inspiration! Yanis, again doing his monster demolition with Steve rounding out the project. So satisfying to remove the characterless concrete! Fantastic, Billy! Great work, guys! Crack On!
Billy, i think you need to do a small skit where you pay homage to those old english fast forward comedy scenes. I cant think of the name but use your crew.
Hi Simon, this is Cynthia Susan who helped the Nuns go home into the White Light. I was curious why the hall floor has all the concrete so one of the nuns by the name of Sophia told me it was the designer and contractors could make more money even though the work did not need to be done. I also asked her if there are any more hidden rooms and her answer is - Yes three more and yes you will find them. She would not tell where, as she wants it to be a surprise for you. I do know they are not on the ground floor. She also said that the building is very happy and grateful for all you are doing to bring it back to most of its original glory.
Hey Billy, it would be cool if you did a “before and after” floor plan for the entire convent. That’d be super interesting, at least for me. Just don’t know where we’d be able to view them. Either way, i’ve been waiting for the restoration of this part of the convent since you started it. That staircase is quite intriguing.
This is going to be beautiful when done. I know that this is going to be gorgerous when done. Can't wait to see the finished product. Have a wonderful day
Steve is a force to be reckoned with. He is not playing around. 💪🏼😅 It's great to see the original floor, and the room will be just as beautiful as the other rooms that are done or almost done.
So glad that your dad is an active person with the restoration of your old gal. Your team is so hard working on the site. Congratulations on the continued success of the building.
There is something about that beautiful staircase that seems to invoke the the magesty of the original convent. If you are hosting groups in the future, I hope the sisterhood that founded the convent 250 years ago is still alive and well and come experience all your hard, dedicated work🙏🙏🙏

The newel posts look unfinished to me, too. I agree that they need finials.
@@RadCenter I think Billy’s eye for detail will spot that too. So much do do from well meaning ‘renovations’ of the past.
I thought the same thing

Wow so many projects going on all at the same time , well done for keeping up with i t all ! Dont no how your doing it your head must be spinning ,
I have that same happiness. I guess it's that there is more air and more light.
Ditto!
Agree,as beautiful as the kitchen is, this is a special place where people's path scrossed every day. A lot of energy here.

Beautiful floor. Plus
Is it less “spooky” 🤔now the building being freed ..?
That’s insane they covered all that.

I just keep thinking these guys are moaning in agony each night and afraid of daylight arriving. LOL. Please tell me I’m wrong. 😊
@@oceanbrzzz, my hubby moans while hand at his back, although being one of those that sit all day watching tv! 🤪
Relentless graft !! Amazing x
Not so of many of us as a lot of people have health issues
We all need to buy an old building, invite our old friends to fix it up and get them active. So they can be like Mr Petherick 💪🥂❤️

Love that you found the granite floor! I am just in awe of the staggering amount of concrete you are having to remove. Can’t wait to see it all done.
Great filming/editing again Billy. What a lovely find

They left religious jewelry.You'll see.
Billy, you need a industrial jackhammer for that floor job. The original flagstone is very nice to have. Love that you're reopening the beauty of the past.
be worried on the floor thickness, be safer to do a saw cut just through the concrete with the sand layer protecting the granite.

These constant layers floor me. Literally, look at that great floor buried. It’s crazy.

Billy, you take after your very hard working father. You both work hard and you'll outlive most of us. Love watching your videos for that reason.
That is a fabulous find! I love it when you expose those old stones.😊🥰
Wow !!!!. Billy !!!! I bet you were excited to find that floor underneath. That’s so awesome. It’s going to look spectacular once you’re done with it.
I love seeing your Convent come to life. You all work so hard, but have to say, I’m amazed by your Dad! Cheers from Prince Edward Island, Canada.

Wonderful floor discovery!! Very exciting! Thanks guys!

Wow, that room is unrecognizable it's made a great difference with the light.
It must be so fun to live somewhere that offers constant surprises! The convent is like the gift that keeps on giving.
Seems to me that this was actually An air rade shelter !!! What a tough job ...
You found hidden treasure after all. The floor is beautiful.
AWESOME FINDS!! I am really enjoying the fantastic work and peeling back the layers. I love old buildings and can't wait to see more.
That area is going to be beautiful. A photographers dream. Sorry you have to tackle that floor Billy but there is treasure underneath .
That glimpse of the floor sure looks incredible... it looks nicer than the front entryway... hope the rest of the floor looks as amazing...
It’s hard not to anthropomorphize and imagine the structure is feeling relief and being allowed to breathe again.
Amazing job. The floor will be beautiful.
Billy , what a great find, but lots of work ahead for your team. Remember to give your bodies some recovering time from all that heavy work.
the amount of material that was layered over the years in this building is wild...
Can't wait to see that floor revealed. This old stairway project is great content. Love it!
Love the granite floor!! And the Staircase is gorgeous!!Great eye Billy!
