I was planning on buying Anish's course on the French defence but funnily enough you just illustrated the problems I found with it. Just a few variations on the open french which is the most common at the below 2000 range, and most of the course dedicated to the winawer which is already rare enough to get. Now I'll definitely buy this, you and Bortnyk are amazing guys, keep it up and I'm eagerly awaiting the Danish gambit course too :)

Here's why: Your audience has gotten to know you and currently consumes your video content each and every day. You have over 300k+ people (just on UA-cam alone, streaming more) that have raised their hands and said: "Yes, I want Danya's videos". That's exactly what keeps people coming back day. I assume that most of the audience here don't routinely study PGN files nor do they take the time to read chess books (they might own a book but probably haven't read it to completion). Imagine going to McDonalds every day for a year, ordering your favorite burger and fries... and then one day McDonalds invites their best customers for a special event. You're all excited, you show up and then they ONLY offer panini sandwiches because they are cheaper. It might be great, but you would have LOVED to pay more for the full McDonalds experience that you've grown accustomed to. I sincerely believe that this comes from a place of good will as you hint that you just didn't want to charge more for videos based on what Cheesable is doing. Here's the thing: You don't have to follow Chessable! For starters, your goal is to hopefully make money... and if it IS, then you'd make an exponential amount more by selling a $200 course over a $50 one. You'd probably get MORE sales, have happier customers and make 4x the revenue. And if you aren't comfortable charging $200-300 for a video course... then just... don't! You can set any price you see fit. Chessable will charge whatever people are willing to pay and because they have other expenses (and a monopoly on courses), they charge $200-300. If hypothetically, you decide to charge $129 or even $229 for a course with videos+pgns, then you'd be undercutting the competition and seen as the good guy. While I'm sure there are many chess players qualified enough to make course, it is VERY rare that you have a charismatic chess player that also makes daily videos. You ALREADY have all the equipment and more importantly, years of video making experience. For most creators, making videos would be a daunting task but it would be relatively easy for you to make 10 videos going over 10 PNGs. (Even if those videos are quick, 20 minute overview videos). In spite of all this, I still salute your first course release. You're the reason I started playing chess so I have nothing but respect for you. I wouldn't have written this wall of text if I didn't care about your success.

This is great timing for me personally. I've been trying to improve my game for some years now and only recently started getting traction on real improvement (in part thanks to your speedruns), but I realized within the last couple weeks that while my tactics and general principles are getting better, I'm still stumbling around through the openings. With the exception of a couple black gambits, I just play the four knights most of the time and hope for the best - not a great plan. I'm really looking forward to this.
Heyy, personally started taking chess seriously awhile ago, aiming for 1000 by the end of the year and I'm currently 644, I play the Caro kann as my defence against e4, been looking for an opening as white so I'll now learn the London. Btw got any e4 recommendations?
I just bought the course and am literally blown away by the PGN's! There's over 600 unique variations, including 145 just in the 3...e6 line - with an average depth of 15.5! I've imported them in a custom course in Chessable and am loving using the MoveTrainer for the variations. I also have Ginger GM's updated Jobava London course, and while it has great videos, the PGN's are terrible, with many being just 6-7 lines deep. I can't believe how deep some of Danya's lines go. A lot of same lines are used in both courses so I'm already familiar with some of the key concepts, but this course has so much more. I'd say it's definitely worth the $50, not to mention all of the free YT videos on the Jobava london out there.
I gave you a sole prime membership many months ago, and since have enjoyed so much of your great free content, it would be a crime for me not to buy this. Looking forward to some sharp play at my next few tournaments :)
Nice to see a GM course that recognises most games aren't 10 book moves, can be tricky to capitalise on inaccurate opening moves. A year ago I would've bought it in an instant, since switched to e4 but I'd buy a Danish course if it is on the cards. Shouldn't feel any need to justify the price, you both put in a lot of work, if I was to hire your level of coach to help with openings I'd pay infinitely more.
Thank you! It’s good to have a video to explain why you made the course, why it’s priced as it is, and why people should be interested in the opening. I hope it works out well; or if not, I hope you at least get good feedback.
This sounds interesting and I am glad to hear that you are focusing on moves that people are actually likely to see. That is unlike most openings courses, and the reason I wrote the Caro-Kann for Club Players course on Chessable (free). We need more courses that take into consideration moves that actually happen, as opposed to just theoretical lines.
Looks very cool, I'm not a 1. d4 player but always happy to see more material being produced for those who seek for it. Something that Levy mentions (or used to) in his courses is if you upload the png to a lichess study is to set it to unlisted or invite only.
I would be so interested in getting this course, but as a 1000, for me the most beneficial aspect of chessable courses are the trainables, for developing “muscle memory” and pattern recognition. It’s very different to just view lines on an analysis board
I bought the course. I love the volume of text now; but the main reason I bought it is your claim to have covered common lines from the general public. Great. For courses, I want all the best theory, but I play more against the other stuff. When I play the Sicilian, for example, I almost always play against the Bowdler attack. Thanks!
Enjoying the course. Strengthening my opening play. Am sure there are many deeper levels that I need to go to so will keep referring to it going forward. Also learnt how to manage the file type 😊
Just bought it, the only thing I wish it had was videos (which I would happily pay extra for) and I uderstand why you didn't make them but it can be very helpful to hear the lines as well even if you type explanations of everything.
I have the Chessable/Nieman course and it's helped me alot, I'm a 1300 player and pretty much play this opening exclusively. I feel I'm overly dependant on it as a player cause I'm not advanced enough to go further cause it's just a comfort repertoire for me with white. Excited to buy the course and see if it translates in to a higher ELO for me...amazing all the drama that's transpired in a year with Jobava and Nieman...
@@Ramin2340 Congrats on your great elo. What do you play as black for d4 opening especially queen's gambit and jobava london? What opening response to white doing kingside or queenside fianchetto?
@@simplehealthyliving4681 black against d4 -- queen's gambit declined janowski variation my response to fianchettos, englishes, flank openings, etc. are all based around ideas from a queen's gambit declined but move ordered to work correctly. While I have not bought the material I must say this preview is OUTSTANDING!!!! If you can make a supplement content on what to do if they avoid the jobava London ( like French, Caro kann, pirc/ modern and even offbeat tried like Owens defense) that would be fantastic.
Looking forward to seeing how your course complements the one of Simon Williams. But sad that my opponents will now have good material to counter my Jobava !
I don't know if someone has done this already: There is an important transposition. In the 3...e6 file: 4...Na6 5.e3 5...c5?! ...9.Bd3 is the same position as 5...Bb4 ... 11.Nf3 (Aquarium software is gold in this regard, it has an R under the board which turns red by any transposition)
Amazing video, Danya. I`ve never been through a chess course, so I really don`t know too much about the format, but I`ve been stuck with the following idea in my head. Having, much like in textbooks, a set of appendices for reference, to which we delegate all the important and visceral calculations and lines, so it could look something along the lines of: "If exd4, then we're thrown into a very particular position in which Qb3 is winning, as illustrated in appendix C.6" And then on appendix C.6 you'd have a minimal working example of this concept
This is such a great work! It's pity I don't play the Jobava London or even 1.d4, but I'm looking forward to a probable coming out of a different course from you.
I enjoyed ginger gm's course on chessable for the jobava. But I look forward to your more practical real world approach for some of the most common lines You make great content man. Can't wait to check this course out But now I'm gonna constantly face this opening as black...thanks a lot 😜
You may want to mention, anyone can make a Chessable course for free with a PGN file. In other words, if someone wants to train the lines in your course using Chessable, they very easily could
Good that you guys found a way to sell it without paying a tax to chessable 😂 By the way, if people like the memorization tool in chessable, you can actually create a private 'course' and then just upload the PGN. It will be as if you bought a chessable course!
A video would make the course 1000x better. I bought the course but it’s so massive and I don’t know where to start and basically quit it and am doing Hans’s free one on chessable. Sorry, but it’s so user unfriendly I don’t think it has much value unless you’re already a master. For reference I’m 2000 elo rapid.
Hi Daniel, great content, great teaching style! Do you think you might do an opening lab video for variations of QG declined, for white? I am particularly interested in the Vienna.
I've bought the course and believe that there is a massive omission. In 1.d4 Nf6 2.Nc3 d5 3.Bf4 c6 4.e3, I believe the move ...e6 isn't considered at all. Although Black's move doesn't really make sense as it voluntarily locks in the light squared Bishop, ...e6 isn't really a bad move and Black is still very solid here. Hans goes for a3 in his course whereas GingerGM goes for Bd3, I'm unsure how this was missed.
I feel like the chessable training software is part of the value of chessable. I have a much better retention from chessable VS reading an opening book or pgn.
You very easily can create a private Chessable course for free, using a pgn file. So you would be able to train the lines on Chessable if you wanted to.
@@giacomo5626 of course you should not create a public course. But I believe there is a way to make a private course, just for yourself, and in that case, I don’t se why there would be any piracy concerns.

Is there anyway you could do this with all of your official opening recommendations from the speed run. I would absolutely love to see something on the accelerated dragon 😁. Thank you so much!
I recommend the d5 Nf6 Nc3 e6 line with e4 next because many people are not aware and play Bb4, which is almost losing after e5 Nd5 Qg4! I even had an otb game in this line.
I'm interested in buying this course, but I'm still working through other courses that I've paid for and haven't finished. 😂 I'll be back for this. Should be a good expansion to Gotham's d4 Dynamite course on Chessly.

We need more courses that take into consideration moves that actually happen, as opposed to just theoretical lines.
thank you sir for uploading this videos
Looks very cool, I'm not a 1. d4 player but always happy to see more material being produced for those who seek for it. Something that Levy mentions (or used to) in his courses is if you upload the png to a lichess study is to set it to unlisted or invite only.
Definitely gonna buy this course when I get home. Least I can do for the 2 free years of content, even if I don’t play the Jobava 🙌
The jobava london is my childhood opening this feel so nostalgic
I would be so interested in getting this course, but as a 1000, for me the most beneficial aspect of chessable courses are the trainables, for developing “muscle memory” and pattern recognition. It’s very different to just view lines on an analysis board
ironically i was just about to study this on chessable for an upcoming tourney. The gift that keeps giving
I bought the course. I love the volume of text now; but the main reason I bought it is your claim to have covered common lines from the general public. Great. For courses, I want all the best theory, but I play more against the other stuff. When I play the Sicilian, for example, I almost always play against the Bowdler attack. Thanks!
Will 1000% be buying the course
Enjoying the course. Strengthening my opening play. Am sure there are many deeper levels that I need to go to so will keep referring to it going forward. Also learnt how to manage the file type 😊
Very good point about Chessable courses
I am about 1400 and games deviate early.
Some of the best Chessable courses do teach ideas.
incredible thumbnail
Looking forward to studying this course and all the ones to follow! As always thank you for the content. If it’s got your name behind it, it’s quality
This is awesome! I'd love a king's indian course from danya or an accelerated dragon one, or even the alapin from the white side...
Bought it. Lots of lines, but not much annotation. Happy to support with $50, but would love to have more explanations behind more of the moves
This is a great course, as someone from London I can confirm this
Just bought it, the only thing I wish it had was videos (which I would happily pay extra for) and I uderstand why you didn't make them but it can be very helpful to hear the lines as well even if you type explanations of everything.
This video caused me to buy your course.
I’d pay a lot more for a video too.
I've somehow gotten much better at chess, just by binging your videos. Thank you grandwizard Naroditsky :)
google "grandwizard"
grand wizard? bruh you need to check what that means before you say it haha
@@gatosospechosop3 I know what I said fam
Please do an opening course for the Italian.
Would love
This is great news! Purchased immediately. Are you going to create a KID course?
I have the Chessable/Nieman course and it's helped me alot, I'm a 1300 player and pretty much play this opening exclusively. I feel I'm overly dependant on it as a player cause I'm not advanced enough to go further cause it's just a comfort repertoire for me with white. Excited to buy the course and see if it translates in to a higher ELO for me...amazing all the drama that's transpired in a year with Jobava and Nieman...
i got to 2200 with only this opening so you'll be fine.
@@Ramin2340 Congrats on your great elo. What do you play as black for d4 opening especially queen's gambit and jobava london? What opening response to white doing kingside or queenside fianchetto?
@@simplehealthyliving4681
black against d4 -- queen's gambit declined janowski variation
my response to fianchettos, englishes, flank openings, etc. are all based around ideas from a queen's gambit declined but move ordered to work correctly.
My response to e4 is based on the berlin though I have specific responses to some openings from experience.
@@Ramin2340 Thank you so much. I wish you good things.
Sick thumbnail! 👍
Of course I bought the course. This is a no-brainer
Amazing video, Danya. I`ve never been through a chess course, so I really don`t know too much about the format, but I`ve been stuck with the following idea in my head. Having, much like in textbooks, a set of appendices for reference, to which we delegate all the important and visceral calculations and lines, so it could look something along the lines of:
"If exd4, then we're thrown into a very particular position in which Qb3 is winning, as illustrated in appendix C.6"
And then on appendix C.6 you'd have a minimal working example of this concept
Unfortunately I can't afford it but I do appreciate your effort for this dedication danya.Love from heart ❤️❤️
Your follower from Bangladesh🇧🇩 ❤️❤️
This is such a great work! It's pity I don't play the Jobava London or even 1.d4, but I'm looking forward to a probable coming out of a different course from you.
“You basically just enter your email and that’s it..
Then you enter your credit card details and that’s it.”
Smooth Danya, smooth.
lol i laughed when he said that too
The timestamp is 15:36 btw for anyone interested.
I enjoyed ginger gm's course on chessable for the jobava.
But I look forward to your more practical real world approach for some of the most common lines
You make great content man. Can't wait to check this course out
But now I'm gonna constantly face this opening as black...thanks a lot 😜
Man I’ve been playing the jobava for about 6 months it’s a strong opening
Hand down best chess content creator.
Danya, I'm enjoying course. Have you done anything yet on how to play against Pirc?
Got the course yesterday! Nice work guys. I liked especially the lines arising after 3…c5 4.e4!?
You may want to mention, anyone can make a Chessable course for free with a PGN file. In other words, if someone wants to train the lines in your course using Chessable, they very easily could
Good that you guys found a way to sell it without paying a tax to chessable 😂
By the way, if people like the memorization tool in chessable, you can actually create a private 'course' and then just upload the PGN.
For reference I’m 2000 elo rapid.
sir you said about CHESSABLE COURSE link but there was no link in the description
@@jamesreed422 i think it might be against the TOS
@@giacomo5626 of course you should not create a public course. But I believe there is a way to make a private course, just for yourself, and in that case, I don’t se why there would be any piracy concerns.
@@jamesreed422 I was talking about private courses, they can also be flagged but not sure
Love this content as always -- do you have any videos or courses that analyze when C5 is played in response to D4? as i find that this is somewhat common after 1400 or so
I play exclusively 1.e4 but I'll buy it anyway for the black info and provide that little bit more incentive for Danya to make more courses.
any chance we'll see your course on chessable some day? I really want to buy the course, I just feel like I would have to motivate myself to study with the pgn format
"I would never put my name on something that isn't top class content....... hang on I have to go to bathroom" LOL
Is there anyway you could do this with all of your official opening recommendations from the speed run. I would absolutely love to see something on the accelerated dragon 😁. Thank you so much!
Do you cover the Dutch response?
Would you recommend to do both your course and Hans’s course if a person already bought Hans’s course?
I recommend the d5 Nf6 Nc3 e6 line with e4 next because many people are not aware and play Bb4, which is almost losing after e5 Nd5 Qg4! I even had an otb game in this line.
I'm interested in buying this course, but I'm still working through other courses that I've paid for and haven't finished. 😂 I'll be back for this. Should be a good expansion to Gotham's d4 Dynamite course on Chessly.
I always support you sensei
Hi Danya is this course a video or just pgn?
I would love to see danya play the evans Gambit or do a video about it. I absolutely love this gambit it is so nice at the < 2000 level
My all time favorite opening. Join my Lichess Evans Gambit tournament in five days. Also happy to share with you my own detailed opening study on Lichess.
@@marcofrey2903 I also have a study. Search after it with „owner:ItalianSlayer“. How can I find yours ?
#suggestion
Include a readme file to guide buyers how to work with the files. Where to start? How to open? etc. It's only the pgns. Include more guidance. Great job!
Can you do a jobava London speedrun?
As one of the first to main the jobava, what is your review of Hans course?
I'm interested to buy this course, any Christmas discount code?
