As a finnish guy, it's great to see more people getting to enjoy the lonkero drink experience.
As a finnish guy, it fucking sucks to see something ours being talked about on these absolute garbage news outlets.
As a Finnish guy it’s sad that these long drinks are not even vlose to the real deal, it’s like a bad vopy from TEMU
@@jeremyroenick2202 Yeah it even says its Citrus and Soda. Lonkero is Gin and Grape....
The labelling is likely a marketing decision, to disambiguate from grapes. Original Lonkero is gin and grapefruit (not grape / grapes).
And what is grapefruit? A member of the citrus family (citrus x paradisi).
They may not use actual grapefruit or graperuit soda, nor gin (they mention a "liqueur kick"), but the product itself is pretty darn good.
Easily better than some of the actual Finnish or Estonian clones (Koff, A le Cog etc.)
The Original by Hartwall is still unbeaten. If you ever get to try it, strongly suggest it. Just make sure it is the mixed version with gin, and not the fermented version. The fermented version (sold in Estonia, for example) has a different taste profile. Not good, IMO.
The color is like a normal finnish day in November, but it taste like summer.
This.... is good and accurate comment
and the other flawors are good allso, pineapple, orange, granberry.......
As a Finn, its kinda weird that long drink isn't a thing in other countries, cuz its kinda simple consept
Typical Finnish marketing = 0 .... sit around and say "no one will want that"
@@bakeraus maybye, but it could be "let the product speak for itself"
@@kuuno22 Too much competition out in the markets especially in supermarkets and booze stores to do that. Saying a product is good isn't enough, most people wouldn't even try to start it without knowing anything about it.
@@kuuno22 It really isn't. It's a well known fact that we Finns absolutely suck at marketing things outside of our country, especially comparing to our rivals next door lol

It's so good that we export it to other countries and then go to those countries and buy it there because it's cheaper.

It is *absolutely delicious* drink!! The best version is the one and only Original Long Drink made by Finnish company called Hartwall, but a couple of others have come close. Nonetheless I urge people to try them, serve ice cold!

And such a good mixer.

As a Finn, this sounds very Finnish to me. ❤
Suomi mainittu, torilla tavataan!!! 🇫🇮 🇫🇮 🇫🇮
In Finland the biggest and the original manufacturer is Hartwall and it's usually preferred by the majority of the population. We have a few staples like the original grapefruit flavour, and the cranberry flavour, but there are tons of different flavours nowadays and different companies are always trying new twists on the long drinks. Rn a very popular variant, especially during summers, is the pineapple flavour which Hartwall put out a couple of years ago. Long drink is very much a part of the Finnish culture as a whole.
And then Maku Brewing came and made an even better version of it
The yellow Hartwall Pineapple is one of the best
Original Long Drink by Hartwall is the best! There are many imitators but not as good as the 'Original Long Drink'.
The most common nickname for Long Drink in Finnish is "lonkero". Hartwall Jaffa Grapefruit is also a great non-alcoholic sugar-free soft drink.
Pineapple Long drink was released in Finland over a year ago and it's big hit. Try it if you can get it.
It's awfully popular around here, in a few flavours. From 5.5 to 7.5% strong.
Long drink is such a basic thing here in Finland its so strange it isnt widely known.
Great drink in any season and especially in sauna if ice cold
You need Snoop Dogg to promote long drink. There is actually pineapple version from Hartwall which was a big hit last summer.
Snoop Dogg has his own Gin&Juice, no way he would promote this...
Went to estonia last week. Asked my friends if they wanted something for me to bring and most answers were pineapple lonkero. Still very popular it seems
Pineapple long-drink goes CRAZY
I’m a bad Finn and don’t like the original long drink (lonkero), but love the pineapple one. I don’t generally drink sweet drinks but for some reason I really enjoy that one.
"Lonkero" is a thing every cider drinker should try at least once :)
Thank u Miles
Outstanding!! Have been my drink for decades.
Love long drinks❤ Greetings from Finland
In Finland we call it Lonkero 👌🏻 Great drink and available with many flavours!
So a tentacle if you translate it directly
Lonkku, kero and betoni are common nicknames too.
@@viquel6859Not really, it's just shortened version of long drink, lonkero.
@@CheriTheBery Kero and betoni never heard. Lonkku is just shortened from Lonkero.
@@FinntrolliSUOMI I've heard 7,5% called betoni few times.
Long drink or Lonkku as we Finns call it was designed as a refreshment for 1952 Olympics in Helsinki. 👌
Glad to have the top of hollywood getting Finland on the map!
Long Drink became Lonkero (Tentacle) in speech language which became Lonkku, which is like Klonkku (Gollum from LOTR)
This guy has taste! Kippis
Why that interviewer have so negative attitude about the product? Like he is trying to put it down, weird.
Afraid of anything foreign.
Lonkero
Tentacle
Surprisingly, Google correctly translates it to long drink
Short story short; 1952 Olympics in Helsinki, Finland, (originally supposed to be in 1940 but delayed because of poor soviet false flag WW2 invasion to Finland made Finns to fight back hard and still...) there were 2 options for people and athletes to have a new alcohol (gin/brandy) based beverage and that gin based Long Drink won with ease. It was like Video2000 and Betamax vs VHS. THANK YOU MR. TELLER !!!
Yeah I think there might have been another country that also had something to do about Olympics been postponed. Krhm Germany maybe...
I hate alcohol of any kind but as a Finn this is awesome!
There were 2 new long drinks introduced in the Helsinki olympics in 1952, the other one not nearly as popular, but I still think it's alright called Brandy long drink.
It's a cocktail made from grapefruit lemonade and gin.
And name of the cocktail is Lonkero
Almost like a Gin & Tonic on a can?
@@bsabjarne gin & has different taste. This is sweet snd not votter
@@bsabjarne i wouldn't call it a gin and tonic, no. It's a lot sweeter, since it has no tonic in it. Basically it's grapefruit juice, sugar and gin with a little bit of carbonation
Ask any finnish icehockey player in nhl about lonkero. they can help a lot.
Pineapple, cranberry are the good flavours too. 👍💪
Can you please, please, please have the LD be released in a Sugarfree form here in the Nordics as well? We don't have peach, cranberry or sugarfree so... Thanks.
Is this the same as the oriGINal long drink? Or is it different stuff?
Yankee entrepreneur saw Hartwall export sales of real Lonkero go crazy in Asia and muttered to himself, "oh f-ck we better get ahead of this thing with a copy before it lands here".
Anyway good on them for landing a spot on Bloomberg. I hope their thing tastes at least something like the real product.
It doesn't sadly. It's not a bad drink but quite far from the original. I wish hartwall wouldn't have refused to bring it abroad
You didn't mention grapefruit? Grape is the most common flavor here in Finland. Not citrus or cranberry.
I live in Finland, and long drinks are amazing. They're not for everyone's taste but anyway..)
It isn´t like the hartwall original long drink, but its good

Nothing better than a long drink after sauna.
Personally I dislike anything sweet with sauna. Beer all the way.

Long Drink is such an underrated drink!
I would like to see a cloudberry version of this product, but it wouldn't be that cheap or you can't make it in such large quantities.
A company called Iso-Kallan Panimo makes cloudberry long drink, and it's amazing. I've only had it a few times, since it's hard to find, even here in Finland
Yea, Long drink's been around for a loooong time in Sweden. :P Too bad they are so fucking expensive.

guy from whiplash likes lonkero?? we won
Him: “This was very early days for them, 2018 or 2019”
The label: Established in 1952
Yeah, the drink itself was created in 1952, but it wasn't by this company. This company is relatively new, the original one in 1952 was made by a different company. Essentially the product is the same though, since it hasn't changed since 1952
@@Jiusonium Ah, my bad. The design of the cans made me assume this company is related to Hartwall.
I knew it, that this would happen. I don't drink, but I know one, and they don't like anything else but one flavor.
What I know there isn't really that much to mix it up. Sure there are different types. It's really the drink for lazying around, that's why I saw it growing wings.

It's great that group of Finns living in the States decided to do this, since it's a bit sad that major Finnish companies have fumbled the bag by making decisions to not make lonkero internationally recognized. This definitely turns some heads and opens new doors for previous nay-sayers. (Edited)
It's not founded by americans. 3 finnish guys are the founders. Americans are investors. Get your facts straight...
