I am a lifetime shooter, I started competing with a pistol 51 yrs ago, but only recently became interested in Glock type pistols, specifically the Polymer 80. I have been watching a lot of your videos to learn more about this while waiting for my parts to arrive. I had found the advantage of red dots several years ago and how they help with aging eyes, I have found your videos to be very informative, including this one with one significant exception, your recommendation to use Red Loctite on the screws. Loctite recommends: 'Loctite Threadlocker Red is designed for the permanent locking and sealing of threaded fasteners.' Take note of the reference to permanent, it is really intended to uses where the item won't be taken apart after assembly, but if you have to, here is there recommendation: 'It is only removable once cured by heating up parts to 500°F'. Since you have to remove the red dot to replace the battery, I don't think that red dot could survive the use of high heat to remove it. This is a perfect application for Blue Loctite, the Red would be a poor choice in this situation.
I would appreciate that list. I built my P80 and am having some problems with it I haven't been able to work out. Fails to go into battery when shooting, every shot have to push slide forward about that last 1/8". I think more shooting may solve that. regarding the red loctite, you can get a CA glue remover as well as a little heat and it will come off. I have used red on font sights before, but I prefer NEW tubes of blue for rear sights. Purple is great for mounts, but if it doesn't work for you then I suggest Blue.
With the 32 moa circle you could also calculate drop at long distance and know exactly where to aim and place the dot to hit your target. If you’re accurate enough....
How do you know when it if you if it’s too tight maybe I messed up put the screws in too tight I might’ve messed up mine cause I don’t know what I’m doing I just put it on tighten it up a bit how do you know if you mess it up
It's 7075 aircraft aluminum and is bullet proof. Color me wrong if I am but, I believe the battery life is 50k/100k, not 100k/200k. Another person who's reviewed this optic had to edit in a correction. Either way, you won't have to worry about it for a long time. I have the 515, rifle red dot sitting on top of my Hi Power, over-the-slide mount combat pistol, leaving the iron sights unobstructed for immediate, up close engagement or if you took a bullet to your optic and, since the optic isn't mounted to the slide, it doesn't reciprocate. Re-aquisition for following shots is amazing. It is also great for anything out to 100yds. It's a room-clearing, run and gun machine! I'm thinking of putting one of these on that pistol (as well as my Glock) for the sake of weight as the Hi Power (with a rail adapter underneath for a light and the metal, side mounted rail for the optic) is pretty heavy with a full magazine but, that weight tends to mitigate recoil so. It has its advantages. :) For anyone who wants to try this sight without having a special slide, there us a Glock, rear sight dovetail adapter which replaces the rear sight. The mount just slides into the dovetail and has a plate to accept the optic. You won't have a rear sight but you can decide if you really like it red dot before having your slide cut or buying an MOS style pistol. I love mine and I can put other things on it, too, like a laser sight in the rear sight position.
Great explanation I'm new to optics, I just got the 507k for my 43x but haven't installed it yet. the slide is out being milled for it. This helps me clear a few things up that i had questions about .

probably best to use blue instead of red unless you plan on never taking the red dot off. The red once cured would need heat to remove it and with the small contact area of those allen head screws i would not want to risk stripping one.

Well now that was a interesting video and when I mount my red dots I never use the red because I want to be able to get it off and with the holosun 507c battery is on the bottom and when the battery quits you will need to remove the red dot however it does have the shake awake so it shuts itself off and the battery will last a very long time so it's not going to be anything you have to replace very often but when you need to it's got to come off.
So when you say the solar panel will supercede the battery when there is light. Do you mean even if the sight is in battery mode the solar will take over and save the battery? Or do you have to put the sight in to solar mode and that deactivates the battery

When I first turned it on, it did appear really blurry, but then I realized what the problem was. This was my first red dot, so I hadn’t had much experience with them before. I quickly realized that when focusing my eyes on the target I was aiming at, the dot comes clearly into focus, which makes a lot of sense. Before, I was focusing on the dot itself, which is not the correct way of looking at it. You shouldn’t have a problem with the dot as long as you are wearing your glasses or contact lenses.

I have been using Halo Sun red dots for years..They all still work and I like better than Aim point and Eotech because I have about 6 sights for the price of 1 of my aimpoints..
The thing with Aimpoint & Eotech is that they will still be working 15-20 years down the line like the day you bought them when all 6 of the Holosun take a dump one by one. The most important issue that has a very real possibility to me would be the solar panel or cheap Chineese boards or the circuitry failing if god forgive I would need to use the weapon at some point. To be honest I have 1000x more trust in the battery the Holosun uses than the actual product it goes into.
@@Tainomontana You should look at the torture test of the Holosun 510C by the "Alabama Arsenal" channel. It's a pretty great optic. I wouldn't be so sure the Holosun wouldn't be working like a stud 15 or 20 years down the line.
Considering this is the owner of “the GLOCK store” I highly doubt he’ll ever mount a 507k on a Springfield. Considering they don’t sell Springfield. I bet he’ll do one on a 43, 43x or a 48… maybe try one of those instead
that's pretty impressive for real!!! its just so cool all the stuff you can do and get these days. thanks a lot lenny for your channels, videos etc you've been able to help me with so many decisions on firearms, custom builds, parts, accessories etc. I do greatly appreciate it man. keep up the PHENOMINAL work and again thank you! can't say that enough. I need to come visit the GS next time I go to Cali for vacation👍 be awesome to meet and talk with you in person and see the store. again thank you sir! been great help
Pretty sure that dot math is wrong, Correct me if I’m wrong, but the dot appears as a larger section of the target the farther out you go, and actually appears smaller the closer you are to the target.
I like it, then shake on a feature or go to draw on the feature. Takes two seconds maybe 1.5. If you're under a second draw, shake your kit(handgun) before using it. Just a little jingle and it stays on before you're drawing. It would probably go on just by walking around. So beware of that too.
I think the solar panel won't work for most. If you conceal carry, that panel never sees the light of day. But I guess it's good for the sake of fail safes.
I have the HS510c on my carbine. The solar panel works great. It's not there to charge you battery, rather it illuminates your reticle from available light, this saving battery power. It will power the reticle without the battery installed. It's pretty useful. It even works under artificial light.
Don't use red. Use blue. You have to heat red to get it off. Problem is, heat and electronics do not mix well. Not sure why he used red, was not wise. I've had many issues with red.
22:07 I think you meant methodology, not mythology. Good review, though. Essentially everything one needs to know. Where can I get that nifty mug to hold all my coffee?
I just purchased a CZ 75 SP-01 not too long ago. So I'm new to handguns. The Holosun 507C really has my attention. I eventually plan to buy a glock in the future as an EDC and might transfer this sight onto it. Would you guys recommend me getting this red dot sight or should I spend the extra $ for a RMR?
Did you experience any issues with the red dot disappearing while shooting the firearm? Justin Opinion had some red dot issues shooting with the PC9 carbine.
why dont you guys mill the stabalizing posts at the front of the rmr? thats a crappy RMR milling job.... youre putting all the stress and alignment on the screws, those posts are there for a reason.
They are there for a reason. The reason is when you are using an adapter block riser that isn't recessed into a slide you need those bosses to stabilize the rmr because it can slide. When an optic cut is machined into the slide the front and back of the cut is what stabilizes the rmr and frankly that is more stable than two post bosses. This is not a crappy milling job you just have crappy understanding of why bosses are needed.
If you can find a universal adapter for your gun and mount the optic into that. I dont know if you can buy a milled out slide for that gun. Brownells has several options for Glocks. Or depending on how much you want to spend there are tons of options.
wow! they've Definately taken it a step further every time! I need to get one and try it out👍. want to get a trijicon rmr, a vortex viper, and now one of those babies=)

I have been using Halo Sun red dots for years..They all still work and I like better than Aim point and Eotech because I have about 6 sights for the price of 1 of my aimpoints..
ted spoltore "Holosun"
@@Tainomontana you would be a fool to rely on a optic only. The gun still has iron sights
Would like to see you mount a Holoson hs507k on a Springfield Hellcat OSP .
Considering this is the owner of “the GLOCK store” I highly doubt he’ll ever mount a 507k on a Springfield. Considering they don’t sell Springfield. I bet he’ll do one on a 43, 43x or a 48… maybe try one of those instead

Holosun green dot - awesome!
Is it necessary to use a plate for the rmr or just to the slide directly?
To send my upper in.....with the cutting and the red dot......what are we looking at in cost of doing this
G.S. has these priced same as everyone else and not many even have these in stock right now. My guess is these will go quickly.
Whats the part number
For the trijicon sights
that's pretty impressive for real!!! its just so cool all the stuff you can do and get these days. thanks a lot lenny for your channels, videos etc you've been able to help me with so many decisions on firearms, custom builds, parts, accessories etc. I do greatly appreciate it man. keep up the PHENOMINAL work and again thank you! can't say that enough.
I need to come visit the GS next time I go to Cali for vacation👍 be awesome to meet and talk with you in person and see the store.
again thank you sir! been great help
Lenny your the man.thank you sir.
Bought one but does not work.....solar panel doesn't work either...emailing back and fourth for possible warranty....
Yoo how big is Lenny that a g19 looks like g26 in his hands ???
Lenny is a smooth dude, got that DJ voice.
Red loctite? Next on Glockstore tutorials... How to TIG weld your red dot onto the slide.
Lmao. Yup
😂😂😂
ANY UPDATE ON THE ATF LETTER? WOULD OF BEEN NICE TO HAVE HAD IT FOR FATHER’S DAY😔
RobGlock 1 you might as well get a refund and go to polymer 80
R J I have em already jus need the ss80 and my set is complete lol..did u hear something
Pretty sure that dot math is wrong,
Correct me if I’m wrong, but the dot appears as a larger section of the target the farther out you go, and actually appears smaller the closer you are to the target.
TORX wrench a torque wrench is a completely different animal. for best results use a Torx bit in a Torque wrench
dont you need an adapter plate?
What number Glock plate would you use for that holosun optic?
Does anybody know what kind of suppressor height sights those are?
Trijicon supressor height sights
@@LeoBeebe thank you sir
how much to get a slide milled for the 507C?
Josh Quiocho check the website. I think they charge $150
Chris Slack which website
Awesome video! Very informative!
Great, great, great review!
Awesome review!
I like it, then shake on a feature or go to draw on the feature. Takes two seconds maybe 1.5. If you're under a second draw, shake your kit(handgun) before using it. Just a little jingle and it stays on before you're drawing. It would probably go on just by walking around. So beware of that too.
Lenny is they teacher in class that you never dare fall asleep on.
What holster can a get that will accommodate for this adaptation? I have an HK P2000
Great job Lenny!! Love your videos!
What is the co-witness site model do you have it there?
It’s so easy to get sucked into a Lenny Magill video.
My favorite optic...
Is it okay to carry a gun with a laser on it for self-defense
I own a holosun and love it and battery last 10 year's
I think the solar panel won't work for most. If you conceal carry, that panel never sees the light of day. But I guess it's good for the sake of fail safes.
I have the HS510c on my carbine. The solar panel works great. It's not there to charge you battery, rather it illuminates your reticle from available light, this saving battery power. It will power the reticle without the battery installed. It's pretty useful. It even works under artificial light.
Will that ever come off? Red loctite is kind of intense.
Don't use red. Use blue. You have to heat red to get it off. Problem is, heat and electronics do not mix well. Not sure why he used red, was not wise. I've had many issues with red.
Great explanation. I have always been faster with the Eotech and Holosun reticles over a single dot.
22:07 I think you meant methodology, not mythology. Good review, though. Essentially everything one needs to know. Where can I get that nifty mug to hold all my coffee?
thank you so much for this knowledge highly highly appreciate, i wish i had that optic holosun
tourque wrench ? what was that torque wrench set to lol
Torx wrench for the Torx head screws
He definitely said torque, not torx.
Hi Lenny is the Holosun 507c will it work with the Springfield XDm 4.5
I will like to thank you for your excellent videos
SS screws on Amazon, Tef Gel to bed the optic and PURPLE low strength loctite. Dont even need blue. Most def NOT red!!!
I have this. Done this.
Erik Basilio Go Holosun 👍
I am glad I didn't put red locktite on mine. It drifted frequently. Luckily, I could remove it.
Is that going fit my Glock 17 gen 3?
Did you experience any issues with the red dot disappearing while shooting the firearm? Justin Opinion had some red dot issues shooting with the PC9 carbine.
Holy shit im 10 seconds in and this guys voice has me ready to buy anything hes selling
"I don't have a circle poster" as he's literally sitting next to one.
This guy should be a voice-over actor or morning radio host turn
Great optic. We sell a lot of these where I work
..
why dont you guys mill the stabalizing posts at the front of the rmr? thats a crappy RMR milling job.... youre putting all the stress and alignment on the screws, those posts are there for a reason.
It's better to bitch about the pocket not being milled tight enough to hold the optic.
Are these in stock? Website does not say
So what is your trt dose?
I can't imagine the zero would be off after removing it to change batteries? Anybody with experience on that?
With that battery life rating you expect to change it????
@@rickyrussell24 haha shouldn't need to. But every video I've seen everyone says to swap them out once a year. Whatever.
Will I be able to put this on a s&w sdve9
If you can find a universal adapter for your gun and mount the optic into that. I dont know if you can buy a milled out slide for that gun. Brownells has several options for Glocks. Or depending on how much you want to spend there are tons of options.
wow! they've Definately taken it a step further every time! I need to get one and try it out👍. want to get a trijicon rmr, a vortex viper, and now one of those babies=)
