I know people are going to hate me for this... I don't like Cherry burst because it looks so freaking ugly, and all I can think of is Ace Frehley when I look at these things. Not exactly "The Shred Meister", but I will say that Ace did what he did very well... And I won't deny the fact that when I was a kid I was a huge KISS fan (I just never liked the way Ace's guitar looked. I know his had three pickups in this only has two but you know.. it looks pretty damn similar. With that god-awful ugly Cherry burst

The first glimpse of the guitar and the deep blue colour was just WOW! Even though you say the colour is lighter than the video shows it, it is so nice.
The Epiphone Korina Explorer we had over 10 years ago also had a veneer on it to make it appear as if it's made of Korina. The body was made of Ayous, some extremely lightweight wood with a mahogany veneer on it and the neck was simply made of maple. Not a single piece of Korina on that '99 Korean Korina Explorer.
I had both a Sonex and an S-1, mine was the only S-1 I've seen with a humbucker bridge pickup that had coil cut. I got it when I took the Sonex back. The Gibson factory claimed what happened to mine wasn't possible, the wood substitute wasn't porous. I was playing an outdoor gig, started to rain, put guitar in case and loaded out. A few hours passed, I took out guitar to dry it off, it had these swelled looking blister bubbles all over the body. I dried it off and left it on a stand to dry. Several days pass, I poked at one of those bubbles, and it crumbled like sawdust. They gave me the S-1 plus my money back to uh, not discuss it further . . . That was in late 70's, the S-1 's neck came unglued. I don't hate all Norlin era guitars, I'm just really careful now even considering them.
My remarks had nothing to do with the statement I put it under, I just happened to remember it happening. Didn't know where to drop the comments. I'd not thought about that in years. l liked how both sounded. The S-1 was flexible with many tones, but the whole thing was grounded by aluminum foil behind the pickguard. Any control or jack gets loose, the signal dropped.
You can change the red tuner color to black with a permanent marker. It comes out amazingly well! If you’re not sure, try it first on a spare tuner of any color. That’s how I did it the first time. Basically, I purchased an LPJ that had only one cream-colored (replacement) tuner. I colored it black and you can’t tell the difference. I have since sold the guitar and told the buyer about it. He wasn’t able to tell which one had been colored so he didn’t care. Regardless, as I am sure you would agree, it’s always better to let buyer know...BTW, another good show! Regarding your discount at Gthic, they will not apply it to everything. I tried to use it for the guitar playing skeleton, but they would not allow it. Since it sells for $109 USD, I decided not to buy it, especially since it costs more money to buy the chain. Like their stuff but it’s just a bit pricey for this old timer!
The Epiphone Explorer has a 1970s type finish, doesn't it? A lot of it looks like it was "glossed" over damaged wood. Love that Les Paul, fresh from that classic Jeff Beck and Ace Frehley era. Aesthetically, that's a really nice SG.
I think it's a custom, not sure but the emerald green Les Paul I would live to have. I think its priced out my wallet though. Over $ 5k if I remember right. I've been on a mad search for what I believe is a studio might be a pro but it's a dark satin metal blue bindings only on head and neck. Of course has the special truss rod cover. Fell in love with it around 79 or 80 so it was at least one or two years if not older. Was in a black case but didn't see much of it. The thing that drew me to it was it looks great in regular light but shine a spot on it and the body seems to shimmer light its magic. I played it and was easy as butter. Couldn't afford to scratch together $600 and what's worse is where I was staying the guy gave me till 10 am the next day and he'd sell it for $400. He seemed extremely familiar with the guitar so I'm thinking it was really his but theres always that chance it wasnt. Either way I missed out on it. The closet thing I found is an 08 robot in midnight blue Manhattan with what looks like brass knobs ( thumb busters included)and a brass tail bridge. Found it on reverb apparently they've had it listed for three years through MKS gear locker an east coast music store that I never heard of and has a solid case. Looks awsome but the company isn't an affirm partner so I'm looking to see if I can get credit elsewhere. They want $850 and was thinking on offering less if I can get something going to purchase it. Otherwise I'm still on the hunt for that 70s model. By the way I'm still enjoying the 61 maestro reissue SG. Everytime I pick it up I remember a different song that I may have played at one time or maybe never. It's such a cool SG and I usually steer away from guitars with a whammy bar. More of a string ben der myself but theres a place for the vibrola sometimes.

Hey Austin! Not related to this video, but I've been noticing that every time you review a guitar with jazzmaster/mustang bridge you leave plastic inserts in place. These bridges were designed to rock back and forth with tremolo and the inserts are just an option to make these bridges less fiddly. Please demo the rocking bridge next time you get a chance. Always wanted a Gibson LP Custom in Cherry Sunburst. I bought this one and it is awesome. Certainly stands out compared to my other Les Pauls. Just disappointed the badge was missing from the case. Thanks Trogly.

I had the same issue with my Epiphone Explorer case. I ended up modifying the part of the case where the lower horn of the guitar rests. I peeled back the material and carved out the foam, then replaced the material. The guitar fits snug now.

John Paul Jones is another major fan of Manson’s work, lots of instruments including a 10-string bass (5x2), bass lap steels, mandolins, and the extended-scale bass for the Led Zeppelin reunion.
When you opened that Explorer box I noticed that right where you see the ding just rubs right up tight to the box. I was thinking that if you see any dents it’d probably be right there. And it was...
That's what scare's me about shipping guitars and stuff like that. My PRS SE Custom 24 (spalted maple LTD) is at the factory once again because I originally took it to a dealer who's 20 minutes from the factory in MD (I live here) and basically, the first time around I took it in for some hairline cracking on the binding and was wanting to see if they could fix that and turns out it wasn't structurally breaking anything so they buffed it over in about 3 weeks. I come back to go get it and everything looked fine and just what I wanted and requested, but my mom looks down and see's that there is a quarter sized chip on the right of the strap button! I then had to send it back the day I was supposed to get it and I'm getting that fixed and having them put in a new nut (american bone) for compensation and at that point why not?!
Alex Carvalho my dad exclusively bought tokai guitars rather than fenders and Gibsons. I mean it was 70s fenders so understandable but not sure bout the Gibsons

I wanted to get one of those 1980s "Fender Espirit"with the perfectly even double-cutaway.Real nice binding on the body,finish looks sort of like a tobacco Burst,some of them had an extremely high gray flame maple? (they had them in a couple other colors like black,& if I'm correct I think there may have been a red one too.).I ended up getting the Squire version of that guitar and it took me a really long time to find one for a decent price.That first guitar you un-box with the P-90's? The blue one?If I had the choice between the Fender espirit,or that Gibson with the P-90s?.I can honestly say I would have to pick both up and play them to see which one I like more. Because on looks alone I like them equally.But I do have a leaning towards p90 pups.....
Both of those messed up Explorers were head stock down when opened. The shipper needs to make sure that they clearly mark which side should be up and the couriers need to be careful about keeping the right side up!

The second designation loses any significance on a used Gibson. Officially the word was they had minor cosmetic flaws- often hard to find- that didn't affect the structural integrity or playability of the instrument. Came in handy to move inventory. provide an added discount for big dealers, generate writeoffs etc. Once it's a used guitar any use probably made finding any flaw superfluous if it ever existed.
In terms of tuning stability isn't the headstock on the blue dc far better than Gibson normal ones, it looks like a design on a par with musicman and prs for this.
did not know epiphone were doing the korina explorer again . I have a 2016 ltd ed that is an awesome axe. It is the guitar that drawed my intrest in epis. Saw one other reviewer and these arent as good as previous korinas.

I had a factory 2d GIBSON L4CES, sunburst back in the day. I could never tell why it was a 2d.

You should try/review a japanesse Tokai, they're fantastic, they felt exactly like a Gibson in my opinnion. Anyway keep the good content on 😁, cheers!

The second designation loses any significance on a used Gibson. Officially the word was they had minor cosmetic flaws- often hard to find- that didn't affect the structural integrity or playability of the instrument. Came in handy to move inventory. provide an added discount for big dealers, generate writeoffs etc. Once it's a used guitar any use probably made finding any flaw superfluous if it ever existed.

In terms of tuning stability isn't the headstock on the blue dc far better than Gibson normal ones, it looks like a design on a par with musicman and prs for this.
did not know epiphone were doing the korina explorer again . I have a 2016 ltd ed that is an awesome axe. It is the guitar that drawed my intrest in epis. Saw one other reviewer and these arent as good as previous korinas.
