  • In this thought-provoking video, Dr. Kate Truitt invites us to explore the remarkable potential for self-healing. Did you know that we possess the ability to nurture resilience within ourselves? Dr. Kate introduces us to "CPR for the Amygdala," an empowering approach that taps into our brain's innate capacity for change and healing, all while harnessing the comforting touch of Havening.
When we encounter triggers, our amygdala often takes control. CPR for the Amygdala comprises four essential touches: palm havening, hug havening, eyebrow havening, and cheek havening. The repeated application of these Havening touches triggers an electrochemical transformation, creating neurobiological space and facilitating the release of feel-good chemicals.
Dr. Kate underscores the significance of combining soothing touch with cognitive exercises. This powerful combination allows our mind-body system to divert from trauma or stress responses and embark on a journey of healing. We are essentially reassuring our amygdala that the threat is no longer relevant.
Wondering how to put this into practice? Dr. Kate provides a practical approach: apply Havening touch, sense any discomfort or distress, rate the intensity of these feelings on a scale of 1-10, reapply Havening touch, and engage your brain with stimulating activities. This method is aptly known as SNAP: Sensing, Noticing, Applying, and Preoccupying.
Stay tuned for our next video, where we will delve deeper into the practice of CPR for the Amygdala. Learn how to partner with your brain, heal your mind-body system, and shape a brighter future.
