Slayers X: Terminal Aftermath: Vengance of the Slayer Review

- I put olives in my bolognese. Olives, objectively, do not belong in a bolognese. But without fail, I’ll dunk half a jar of those salty little bad boys into my bubbling wok without hesitation. Peppers? Why not. Carrot? Absolutely. Spinach? Don’t mind if I do. My bolognese is about as authentically Italian as Super Mario, but it doesn’t matter. I’m not trying to make Massimo Bottura cry by reminding him of his nonna’s cooking. It’s a dreary Tuesday night and I’m craving my olive-laden concoction. I’m making this bolognese just for me.
Slayers X: Terminal Aftermath: Vengance of the Slayer reminded me a lot of my bolognese. It’s a game created for particular tastes, a unique proposition that sort of defies conventional thinking. A big, bold swing that - if you have the palette for it - is absolutely brilliant.
I’d love a third game in the series where we the hyperspace enforcer and Zane team up to fight against the psychos .
if anything the enforcer would be a villain cause for this game to exist he had to get banned from hypnospace
@@pigeondamigion569 your right , that’s actually a cool idea for he to be the villain of the next game .
@@pigeondamigion569Yeah but The Enforcer saved his life. Accidentally. But that counts.
I never thougt this day would come, but finally I have found someone else who loves olives in their "bolognese" !
I don't care if it's not authentic ; it's absolutely delicious !
Oh and the game seems interesting ;)
I mean, in Italy a pasta with meat sauce isn't called Bolognese outside of Bologna anyway. So who cares. It's still a pasta al ragù all the same.

I’ve seen a bunch of tributes to the 80s. This is pure 90s nostalgia.
This was a very good review. Loved the insights. I find it refreshing that we still get games that exist to appeal to those that have similar tastes without trying the make it more bland to reach a larger amounts of customers.
Wokeism ruins everything.
I'm like at the Potato level festival in this game and it's so much fun. The music, liminal spaces, enemies, secrets etc. Very good fun
Maybe it's just me but I don't find olives in a Bolognese weird, it's at least _thematically_ consistent
Oh yeah.... Bologna and olives, what a wonderful fantasy relationship.
@@magnex1990 lmao
In Bologna, or rather the area around it, they do have olive trees :P
Seeing this game's video footage sure gives me 90's & 2000's vibes, I love it.
i love this game reminds me of being a young teen playing doom, serious sam, Duke Nukum, quke, unreal tourment and all the other doom clones so much fun!!
This was a pretty good review, I enjoyed it, thanks. Similar opinions from my end, very meta too.
Oh hey Civvie!
when this dropped and i first played it i made it my life goal to ensure i am this games biggest fan
I don't know how he manages to deliver this game with such a streyet feyece
cw: descriptions of horrific food
Skip ahead a bit if you’re sensitive to British cooking
You should try some green pesto with that bolognese. Might raise less eyebrows :P
Reminds me of Doom
This game is fun…. And yea I had a wallet chain.
Usually enjoy this stuff of media.
But all the body humor, even if its just a satirical caricature, is just too much for me. And unfortunately the gameplay also did not win me over.
Did try it out on Game pass, maybe give it a second shot when I dont know what to play, but I am dissappointed in the game
There are other games that look awful on purpose that i enjoyed quite a lot.
But this is just trying too hard while still not archiving to convince me about the world setup that it takes place in
Glad to see a different view on this game yet it did not influence my view of the game in a significant amount
I just played through this and it was a sweet throwback lol. Definitely felt like a less polished Duke Nukem 3D. There are some weird glitches and design decisions, but overall it was a fun one time playthrough.
Something about his game speaks to me... The absolute commitment to the bit as you said really sells this game. I'm all for it.
0:46 Who the Hell are you talking to right now?
The showing of how Trennis is played was interesting
Calling it. Evil jesters. There's going to be evil jesters.

Close enough.
No PlayStation release?
This game reminded me of the RPG Maker 2000 days, making self-aggrandizing shitpost games where you (or your forum avatar) were the main character, an exaggerated version of yourself.
I loved it.
7:58 The trick is to just drop the olives in at the end - little cooking, the flavour doesn't interfere with the rest of the dish and you still get those scrumptious olives. I've even put carrots and courgettes in my Bolognese previously and still often in my lasagne.
you can really tell that a lot of love was put into this.
It's a great game
Reminds me of Duke Nukem On PC back in the day. And I’m loving this.
The rats' dialogues alone make Slayers X a 10/10.
I like the concept of the game & I do adore the old Build engine stuff but I'm not sure I could stomach playing through this one. It's just a little too.. much.
If you think this is too much, I'd love to see how you feel about something like Cruelty Squad
@@kyler247 Similarly. Visual noise is problematic for me.
