In huge guitar news today, Paul McCartneys first Hofner bass that was stolen in 1972 has been found!! It was returned to Paul after 52 years! This is probably one of the biggest lost guitar news in years
I think I’d have held on to that, he’s in his 80s. Let it resurface 20yrs after he passes then make some $. He’s not hurting for cash or bass’s. And I mean come on after 50+yrs finders keepers he forgot about that guitar decades ago until they did the documentary
When the episode started and Trogly said “ESP,” I have to confess that I thought “why?” Boy, was I wrong. Big time. Those were some of the most amazing guitars I’ve ever seen, which made it one of the most interesting episodes. Great job, especially to the incredibly gifted luthiers who made them.
That first horse has a fairly common style of armor on it with the two spikes. The next guitar has a pegasus on it, not a unicorn. The difference between the two mythical creatures is that pegasus have wings and unicorns don't.
Trogly, I own an exhibition guitar from the 2017 run and the craftsmanship and feel of the guitar is everything the photos would lead you to believe. The prices of these have skyrocketed since 2017 (and I bought mine second-hand), but if you get a chance to play one in person, I think you'd really enjoy it.
Afaik, Richie Blackmore had the idea for recessed strap buttons. He’s been doing that for decades. The strap buttons are almost completely recessed into the body with just enough room for the straplocks to go in.
I don't remember the name of it, ut ESP produces their own trem system (non floyds) it's kinda a hinge system, which Ibanez only made for one of their Edge tremolos for a brief time and for what I know, it was loved, so ESPs trems are quite unique.
The LP style guitars pickguard looks like someone cut a metal design to lay on top of wood that would pertrude through the face . But the edges of the wood were meticulously carved to make a smoother look. I really like the looks of the scalloped nut. The back of the first real exotic designed guitar in that gray color looks as if it is mimicking dragon scales.
Judging from the inlay description (17:18) those "skull demons" are supposed to be yakshas. Buddhist nature spirits that are often found in pairs, hence the duality of the designs.
I would pick the fourth guitar , the figured chestnut super-strat , there is some ' Rorschach' action happening on the back . Beautiful wood on all the guitars !...Ide like to hear them crank out some chuGG !...Thanks Trog !
Thanks for showing these off Trogly! ESP's Tokyo Custom Shop is on a different level when it comes to craftsmanship. Any occasional break from Gibson/Fender is a nice breath of fresh air! Maybe the fan that got the custom shop Greeny could do us a solid and pick up one of these one day lol.
never knew ESP made high end guitars, I thought it was a low budget brand, maybe because of the logo on their normal guitars. These are beautifull, way out of my budget but stil beautiful
that one send to hong kong ,that shop tom lee , i never seen a ESP or LTD guitar at that shop, i dont know guitar store how it work with guitar brand , something interesting is the guitar shop Tom Lee mainly sell fender, squire ibanez, yamaha , there no Gibson or Epiphone ,if you want gibson , then go to main competitor shop parsons , there mainly Gibson, Epiphone , no fender or squire , not many guitar store in hong kong ,if people buy guitar, 9 of 10 the shop you go to , so is some kind of deal between store and guitar brand ? or some kind of agreement between two shop..?
So, those Eclipses have sandwich wood bodies, multi pieces necks and headstock volutes, and they cost 20.000$+... Maybe Gibson wasn't doing things so wrong back in the 70's... ;D
All very gorgeous art guitars from ESP for 2024. I have a hard time understanding why these aren't auctioned. Otherwise seems like asking for corruption. Will shops be fair and offer them to general public at fixed price or will owners/associates grab them for their patrons. Just being listed in a few places doesn't answer that question cause could list to look fair then do whatever.
On a different note Gibson has released its new SG Supreme models. Don't know price range but they're supposed to be vastly different from anything they've done before.
Hey guys a little help here, What should I pay for a 1991 lp studio lite in good condition (assuming its a real and not fake) does NOT include gibson case, this 70 yr old guy wants 1300 for it, im going to inspect it this weekend WHAT IS A FAIR PRICE!!??
ESP guitars are generally too "metal" looking for my taste but i've always been entertained by their beyond over-the-top exotic guitar finishes on their high end models. i've seen some photos from NAMM in previous years where ESP's high end guitars were show stealers. just incredible finishes on some of them.
I first watched your channel due to a review of an ESP I was thinking of buying my son. Your review helped me decide to get it for him. He's still playing it.🙂
ESP : Beautifully Handcrafted Guitars for about 20k seems fair Gibson : Replica of an Old Les Paul for 50k should be good - you’re even gonna be able to eat spaghetti with current owner of the original Think about it
Even Ltd is a step above anything else in its price range (Korean made ones). Atleast everyone I've picked up has felt generally well made. I've had essentially an ec1000 for a almost 10 years and not treated it the best, it lays on a couch it's my main play guitar and it's hasn't had any issues, neck warpage, I had to give it a quarter turn on truss rod and lowered the Floyd just a tiny bit to get the action just a little lower to my liking but other than personal preference it's been way better than any other 2500and under guitar. I don't ever pull the les paul out to play it, it just doesn't feel as nice
"It's just a heavily quilted top" You're killing me smalls(Trogly), if any of these had been actual Gibson's, you'd be all over yourself telling us how awesome they look, LMAO! Trogly is hilarious in his biases every single time. These guitars are freaking awesome to look at, Gibson or not.
In huge guitar news today, Paul McCartneys first Hofner bass that was stolen in 1972 has been found!! It was returned to Paul after 52 years! This is probably one of the biggest lost guitar news in years
That's some really big news alright. Bigger than Peter Frampton's lost black Les Paul.
Wow! This is the first time that I’m hearing about this. Great news!
Alright!!!👍
I think I’d have held on to that, he’s in his 80s. Let it resurface 20yrs after he passes then make some $. He’s not hurting for cash or bass’s. And I mean come on after 50+yrs finders keepers he forgot about that guitar decades ago until they did the documentary
The Beatles? Womp womp. No one cares.
Yeah ESP Custom Shop luthiers are crazy, apparently there are only like 8 guys working there.
Nobody makes guitars like the ESP Exhibition models fine craftsmanship gone crazy 🤘
That first horse has a fairly common style of armor on it with the two spikes. The next guitar has a pegasus on it, not a unicorn. The difference between the two mythical creatures is that pegasus have wings and unicorns don't.
Great observation ! And thanks for noting the difference between a pegasus and a unicorn. Saved me looking it up ...
That “horse from hell” is unreal.
The ESP and Ibanez custom releases are always among my favorite Trogly episodes and this one didn't disappoint.
A "winged unicorn" is called an alicorn.
The inlay on the first FRX was a horse, you could see his foot, the horns were like an armor plate.
Yeah, ESP custom is the end game guitar imo
Now, that's a real "art guitar"
Awesome work by ESP
Check out ESP’s Navigator N-LP Les Pauls. Easily on a par with Gibson Custom Shop in my opinion...if not better....
That's something all guitar makers should do, make the backplate, line up with the wood grain patterns.
Hey Austin, did you notice that those Eclipses had RECESSED TUNERS? I've never seen that before. Have you?
Heartwood (brown) and sapwood (blonde) in the walnut
These guitars are amazing.
Those are stunning! I wish they would have included a tele body or two. The metal work on all are very attractive
Wow!!...works of art...and the fretwork looks immaculate
Beautiful pieces of art.
Walk off grand slam winning the World Series. Those guitars are legendary the craftsmanship the detail is amazing.
@TrogysGuuitarShow It is time for no more faceless videos!!!! Let us see who we are hearing from on our beloved channel!!!
4:32 how the headstock design continued to the truss cover is something else
The "Giant skull warrior dude" inlay is a Samurai with an Oni mask on. They wore these in battle to intimidate their enemies.
I love the ESP crazy lotto guitars.
Did anyone else notice the back of that frx is one piece?
Afaik, Richie Blackmore had the idea for recessed strap buttons. He’s been doing that for decades. The strap buttons are almost completely recessed into the body with just enough room for the straplocks to go in.
10:18 that's one of the most beauiful guitars ever 😍😍😍
The inlay work on the Unicorn is mind-blowing.
The “white ebony “ is the sapwood. Common all through Macassar Ebony
I don't remember the name of it, ut ESP produces their own trem system (non floyds) it's kinda a hinge system, which Ibanez only made for one of their Edge tremolos for a brief time and for what I know, it was loved, so ESPs trems are quite unique.

The 2nd one is layered (pattern welded) steel on both the pickguard and inlays
The poplar burl that went to Hong Kong was my fave, followed by the Arrow; the second Eclipse was cool too. All are amazing works of art though.
6:06 love that there is just one knob, and it’s for volume.
Also, I've never seen wooden pickup covers before. That's really interesting to me.
The demon horse is positioned facing towards you but with its head turned about 1/4 way. Not as easy to see as the unicorn but pretty cool
Them ESPs are real creme machines!
Some beautiful guitars that will never get played!
I think PRS have out done Gibson and fender in design, construction, choice of wood etc, Awesome guitars, that's what I call outside the box
Judging from the inlay description (17:18) those "skull demons" are supposed to be yakshas. Buddhist nature spirits that are often found in pairs, hence the duality of the designs.
WOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWO!!! they look awesome!!!!
The first one is easily my favorite of the bunch.
The FRX inlay is an armored horse. Took me a minute to figure it out.
Hey there
Immaculate !
You should try esp Ltd ps 1000, I have one with a bigsby. Best hollow body shredder I've played
I would pick the fourth guitar , the figured chestnut super-strat , there is some ' Rorschach' action happening on the back . Beautiful wood on all the guitars !...Ide like to hear them crank out some chuGG !...Thanks Trog !
Number one is not a sandwich body.
That is swamp ash end grain.
I zoomed in on the stats under photo and it confirms body is swamp ash.
I think I’d be happy with any of the guitars.
aged nickel hardware is my favorite

The multi-colour bodies of the Snapper CTM and M-II CTM NT remind me of the Nebula and Nebula 2.0 by Ben Crowe of Crimson Guitars.
WOW!!! best looing guitar award goes to ESP!
I'll have "Guitars I can't afford for 20 years" Alex." OH... Daily Double!! 😅
simply stunning guitars!
13:22 It reads in the specs .. HORSE FROM HELL.
....it's a Pegasus, not a unicorn..🤓
Sweet
never knew ESP made high end guitars, I thought it was a low budget brand, maybe because of the logo on their normal guitars. These are beautifull, way out of my budget but stil beautiful
wow, impressive! Do ESP usually do such exclusive instruments ?
“It kinda looks like a big jumbled mess…”
Agreed.
craftmanship of ESP way far ahead than the companies like gibson or fender
I can see the influence of some other really successful guitar makers.
It's a horse. You can see the hoof above the skulls
These kind of remind me of Huffschmidt guitars.
Nothing but badass guitar, art pieces, if they play as good. That's where it's at.
The snapper is like an S type The lespaul thing is INSANE
That Ziricote top Eclipse.. 🤤
And that's how kick Gibson into the long grass.
ESP has such cool guitars.
Nice af!
4:10 purple heartwood in there? that looks like Purple heartwood. same straight grain
I can’t stand when guitars don’t have a tone control. Especially for the bridge pickup.
These are so artisan from a bulk producer that they blow the “Big Three” out of the water. Continuing shake-up of the market, I foresee.
i will not take care, and you can't make me!!
The screws on the pickups are messing with my OCD!!!
that one send to hong kong ,that shop tom lee , i never seen a ESP or LTD guitar at that shop, i dont know guitar store how it work with guitar brand , something interesting is the guitar shop Tom Lee mainly sell fender, squire ibanez, yamaha , there no Gibson or Epiphone ,if you want gibson , then go to main competitor shop parsons , there mainly Gibson, Epiphone , no fender or squire , not many guitar store in hong kong ,if people buy guitar, 9 of 10 the shop you go to , so is some kind of deal between store and guitar brand ? or some kind of agreement between two shop..?

The amazing fret work itself seemed to be ignored
All very pretty, but no patch on a Gibson imho.
On a different note Gibson has released its new SG Supreme models. Don't know price range but they're supposed to be vastly different from anything they've done before.
Respect to the skill these builders have, but dang those things are gaudy 😂
Wow!! the Arrow is badass for real!!!
“Zeer-ih-coat “
5:32 narra is considered as the national tree of the Philippines.
When Im rich i want fretboard sagas inlaid on all my necks.
That second Arrow is my favorite.
✌️

And now I have to change my chonies...

It’s a unicorn 🦄 Pegasus
Man I hate it when they make guitars I'd buy and never want to take out of protective whatever they came in.
Zear - Ih - coe - tay 10:23
Love seeing you get out of just gibsons
Number 6 the V for me.
Those really aren't Gibson custom shop guitars.. well I never!
ESP : Beautifully Handcrafted Guitars for about 20k seems fair
Gibson : Replica of an Old Les Paul for 50k should be good - you’re even gonna be able to eat spaghetti with current owner of the original
Think about it
I'd pay 50k for spaghetti with one of my hero alone tho
🎸
Love love love ESP!! Best guitar makers in the industry in my opinion
Even Ltd is a step above anything else in its price range (Korean made ones). Atleast everyone I've picked up has felt generally well made. @@ZitherBeast I loved when he said that lol it’s like…dude that’s a better top than any Gibson ever
