I can see w210 being 40-50 year old and still a daily driver, when people comment on how old this car is I tell them it will outlive their brand new car 😊
I just own a E240 in Singapore. It Is 26 years old and good to know and learn from W210 owners how to maintain this car well.
amazing to have a classic w210 in Singapore!
i just got my 02 e430 4matic today. low 38k miles. She`s getting her first detail tomorrow🥰 immediately went and got new tires and oil changed. She`s soooo smooth. i love it already
4matic for a w210(atleast for an e55) is pretty rare, it was an option that many people didnt get, so you have a slightly rarer w210
Cool I have a 22 year old W210 E280 And it runs smooth And I feel So relaxed driving it daily
My E55 is from 1998 and my E430 from 2000, late MoPf1 and early MoPf2. E55 is at 308K KM, nearly 200K miles and the E430 at 212K KM, about 140K miles. Both going strong.
Love your channel. Greetings from the country of origin of this amazing cars.
Yeah my 1988 E55 is 250k km and still great
Excuse me what does MoPf1 & 2 mean
@@ExtraPsycheart It stands for MOdelPFlege, basically facelift. The W210 had 2 facelifts, the first one is subtle, the second one with the new front is more obvious.
w210, future classic! great video. Got my '97 E50 AMG. absolutely love it. 96,000km or 59,000 miles on the odometer. a collector car!
I own a 2001 e240 silver on grey interior with 50k on the clock. Drives like a dream and I have done a test drive with a 2022 e class at the dealer. New one not worth the money but you have to maintain it well and I have done a few things and I don’t spare a dime to replace with original parts. Future classic understated luxury with lots of hidden luxury features.
Thank you for this detailed video. A lot of knowledge for a 210 lover and owner.
I think I was there when your battery went dead. I too have a 2002 M113 at 253,000+ miles. I've owned mine the past 17 years and when I got it, it was still under the factory warranty. In that time, in addition to normal maintenance, I've swapped one radiator, two sets of motor mounts, one trans mount, changed the mass air flow sensor twice, bypassed the fuel carbon filter, and cleaned the secondary air injection ports. Those are the ports in the heads, and unlike what the dealer recommends, I did it without removing the heads. I checked the SAI valves, hoses, and SAI changeover valves, none of those were the problem. Let me know if yours clogs, it's a very inexpensive fix.
I forgot about that incident. The battery went dead because I was showing my headlights to someone and left them on for over an hour. Thanks for the tip about the SAI!
Excellent! This video added to my decision making on a 2022 S500.
I must have missed this video! have had my 2001 E430 a year now and I still love it! After doing all of the maintenance with FCP Euro (fluids, mounts, etc.), I did lots of paint correction and PDR to clean up the exterior a little and added new headlights and some aftermarket 18" wheels along with sport touring springs, just to make it look a little more modern. It needed some growl so I did a FM flow-tech muffler and it sounds the part without drone and a little black vinyl and paint took care of the chrome trim and grill and it looks very mean for a 21 year old car! It was a California 2 owner car and the interior and headliner are absolutely perfect. I have put around 8000 miles on it and it recently got almost 27mpg on a road trip and I paid less than $5k including shipping for it before the pandemic. Best money I have ever spent on a car. I still have some AMG CLK calipers and rotors with braided brake lines waiting for it to need front pads again. I do have the original 040 black paint that came pretty clean considering but it does need the front bumper and hood repainted as you mentioned from rock chips but the fenders are still ok. I did valve cover gaskets and it needs a rear main seal but I want to refresh the trans while I have it out so that will wait until I can afford it. I also own a W211 E55 in the same color and I love each of those cars for different reasons but I don’t plan on getting rid of either of them any time soon! Great seeing the Fake 55 story!

Excellent review 👍
In October 2022 I bought a 2000 E-320 from a friend in Camarillo, CA, it has 84,000 miles, one previous owner, it was a hangar queen for 3 years after the death of his wife. I love this car, it feels so very safe to drive and it is so very comfortable. It's the first luxury car that I have ever owned. By the way, I love your videos, they are great and very informative.
Thank you! That’s a great example of the w210 you got
i wish i could give my car this level of care, goals for sure.
These are proper charmers honestly. Very understated, but quite capable. A Mercedes you can maintain.
I have a 2001 e320, just did my tie rods as well. Got it with 60k and 95k on it now. It’s a solid car, definitely tinting my windows now that I see how nice yours looks.
My 99 e320 drives like a dream!
I’ve got a 98 E430 and it’s been running perfectly since 98. Genuinely reliable car, perfect daily drive. Won’t let you down.
Can't wait!
This car is so fire
Appreciate the in depth look at ownership. I've been considering selling mine and your video is making me rethink that notion.
if you do let me know jusy got stiffed on a w210 today
are you in uk?
I own a 2000 W210 E55 AMG and love it. I am the kind of owner who keeps it as it came from the factory. I put almost 17k since 2010 when I bought it. All the repairs were done at my local Mercedes Benz dealership. The headliner was changed entirely because it began to sag. Whoever owned before abused the car and I paid for it. At the moment my seats are ripping open so is the main thing I need to fix. Love the car and won’t ever let it go.
I recently inherited my grandfather's W210. It's a 1998 E230 with a M111. I had to do quite a bit of work on it because my grandfather couldn't use it at all in his final years, but the M111 has been pleasant to work on (though I do wish I had something more robust for highway driving - you can tell the M111 is really working to push the car at those speeds). Great video!
This thing is awesome. I just got a w210 e55 last week. It's hurting...lol. but im building it.
2017 I had multiple check engine light issues as well. Egr valve and vacuum lines, ignition cables, crank sensor, air mass. I fixed them all also FYI Air pump code po410 if not the pump after activations. Found clogged ports at cylinder heads. R&R left and right switchover valves, spray n soak engine carbon cleaner in ports and sit overnight and use coat hanger to unclog/open up ports.
Great Car! I was going to upgrade airbox too on my E430. I picked airbox from Clk55 209, i test fitted it, but when i finaly realised how many mods do i have make to make this box work properly i decided to go with 160 ML55 amg cover, which fits on E430 without any mods and looks pretty good.
Thank you! I wanted to try the ML cover too but on USA cars it will not fit because the location of the oil filter is different.
Great video. Still have my rusting daily driver 2001 e320 but just bought a 2002 E320 with 42k miles from estate sale. Had been sitting for 3.5 years. I"m sure I have few things that will need upgrading
Nice I got one similar but need to black out the rims and tint the windows here soon
bro super detailed video. much appreciated it. I have a 2001 clk430. and I bought it off my son 7 years ago and didn't know much about. but being a car guy I come to really like it. I see your in California. . I have a few questions. can you help thanks
clean built
Hello! I have one like your , is the V6 one i LOVE the car is just 74000 miles from 2001, But is hard to find some of parts ….. I done a full service , I live in England and her is to much rain and I have rust in some parts
I have E50amg, 300d 220d and 320cdi, w210 is my favourite model and i prefer prefl becaus its more comfortable to work on and its nicer lookin but fl steering wheel and rear lights is thing i like in fl. Btw those monoblok rims you have is about 2.5k at original paint and good condition and those m113 are known to strechin timing chain ive had one it starts rattle before snapping
Awesome review! Do you remember what kit you used to replace the front suspension? Mine is on the way out, all the bushings are toast
The first time I bought one of the cheap kits from eBay. I pieced together a lemforder kit from FCPEuro
Gave you a like because of your paint discussion. I have a '00 E55 and that is exactly where my paint is failing. Correct me if you think I'm wrong, but I think I just need to get it clear coated again. My Silver still looks as "Brilliant" as ever.
It depends on the condition of the paint under the clear coat. Usually you can re clear it. It also depend on what shop you take it to. Not every body shop would want to re clear. I have seen someone do it on brilliant silver and it turned out pretty nice. I wouldn’t recommend it on the front bumper through, usually there’s enough chips and other damage to need a full respray.
@@SoCal210 Thanks for the reply and your feed back.
Mine is peeling also on the roof
On my w210 the headliner was fine until I started driving around with the windows down alot.
Nice car!!
Thanks!
@@SoCal210
they are cars of another level, I have a e430
what are your thoughts on matng a merc 7 speed to this engine?
i like the idea on combining NA manners to more modern gearbox efficiency
It’s only worth it if it’s an MCT 7 speed. Otherwise it’s not that much more modern. Someone has done that swap on a 210 before
Where did you buy the engine cover? I could use one that looks that clean for mine.
I have a 00 and 02. Both turn key and go.
El neumático adelante es 245/40-18 pero que medida es el neumático trasero??, El mío es un E320 del 2002 y quiero montar las llantas del E55 AMG. Saludos 🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽
I just subscribed
This is awesome! I'm looking at a 1999 e430. Seller says it has a coolant leak. Any pointers or a vid showing how to change? Thanks again!
How did that Coolant leak turn out?
awesome video! what is the best way to prevent rust on the W210? thank you
Keep it away from snow and salt and wet weather. Keep the drains clean.
No flex disc replacement? Nice video. I'm original owner of 1999 E320.
It’s due for flex discs now
Great video! Does this car require premium gas?
It’s a love
guess the German 430 needs that oil cooler due to living at high revs for long periods of time on the Autobahn.
Nice i also have a E430 from 2002 but the s210. Still going strong at 315k km. Is it hard to do the amg air intakes?
It’s not a direct bolt on. You will need some other associating parts. If you have a euro car it’s a little easier because it has the oil cooler the AMG cars have. You will also need the fuel hose, brake booster line, intake elbow, radiator, fan shroud, and extend the wire to the MAF sensor.
I got 2000 E430 I want better exhaust sound and proformance what do you recommend?
This one looks great, probably the last "true" mercedes-feeling car. They don't do that anymore and the next body (w211) does not feel either roomy and hefty as w210. S-class ended up its existence even earlier (I'm an owner of w140 s500 95').
I might missed that in the video, but can't find anything - what's an average fule consumption does it have? And how much oil it consumes in between the oil changes?
Looking for alive w210 right now and would like to collect as much info as I can. M113 blocks do not have the same bulletproof reputation as M119 has (I live in EU). So I'm wondering wich one is better to grab E420 or E430.
I haven’t been keeping track of fuel economy in recent years but it would be around 22mpg on the highway and 15 in the city. If there are no oil leaks the engine will not consume oil between oil changes(5,000 miles). M113s are actually much more reliable than the M119 in my experience.
@@SoCal210 thanks so much for the information!
It's really interesting, because m113 is considered less reliable and oil-thirsty here in Europe.
I have a 2000e430 sport 6 year ownership bought at 133k now at 245k
Are the transmissions reliable and easy to change the fluid on?
Great info, can you make a video once its time to do the timing chain seals that can cause the coolant mixture problem. I really want one of these cars but its all gonna depend how much of a PITA that job is. I'd be ok with removing the pans but not the heads.
I just recently purchased a 03 e320 from a friend. The car was kept in pristine condition with only 90k miles. I was thinking about switching out all the headlights to a more cool white than warm, but not sure if it would take away from that classic original look. Any opinions are welcome.
IMO any upgrade to the light output for a car you use at night is well worth any “sacrifice” in cosmetics. And plus the xenon equipped cars came with white low beams.
@@SoCal210 I agree in regards to light output. Thanks bro!
Тачка огонь!🔥🔥🔥
Just got an e430 sport 99 can somone point me to the right direction for some websites that carry this models parts?
Still debating if I want to buy the amg green interior
Do it
how much it costs to maintain it for a year
is it a 4matic looking to do mods in the future to mine because mine is very rare and is supercharged
Not a 4matic. 4matic will limit you in terms of suspension mods. They no longer make any aftermarket springs so if you want to lower them your only option is to cut the factory springs. Front suspension design is also different. Other than that it’s mostly the same.
Is rust not an issue for you guys? I'd love a W210, my Dad had one growing up, was an awesome car. Unfortunately in the UK the rust has killed almost all W210s.
Rust is way less of an issue here. It only occurs when the drains get clogged or when there is a poor quality repair.
How long can you let these m113’s sit for
Any ideas on lowering on vogtland springs?
I’ve driven a car with them and they ride good. Stance is nice too in my opinion as well. I think they are a little lower than the H&R.
Is a 97 e420 the same? Or similar?
First question, i try to get a manual to show the part number of the parts of my car and if there is any advice where to get this manual, will greatly appreciate your advice. Thanks
Mercedes offers a subscription to the online parts catalogue and workshop manuals online now. I would recommend using them. Look up startekinfo(dot)com
HI, my W210 has got an issue on AC. Do you experience the same?
Here's the situation, running the car but turning off AC - normal
AC turning on, hissing or specifically V-sound like echo intermittent from the central AC console or behind the dashboard. It is particularly annoying while running freeway, foot accelerating or decelerating.
I’m not 100% sure what it is but my guess would be the vacuum pods that control airflow has a leak in it and that is causing the noise. It relies on engine vacuum so the rpm’s can affect it.
UA-cam disallows posting external link, but it is searchable by "Hissing sound Vacuum leak When A/C is on" on Mercedes Forum.
I try posting a video for your reference later. I guess it is vacuum line issue. Year before, I fixed the vaccum line between the intake manifold and closed to firewall - while breaking it, the AC turn to defrost mode but no hissing noise. Once connected, the hissing is coming again.
Just upload a video running outside today.
ua-cam.com/video/cAsos7qd_6E/v-deo.html
Last time while replacing the AC cabin filter behind glove box, I saw and hear the vacuum pod which is hard to check where is leaking. The cost may be too high and difficult for me to remove everything behind the dashboard.
Clean! My transmission is slipping, any idea what I can do?
If it’s slipping it’s going out. It’s best to replace it either with a good used transmission or get yours rebuilt. If you don’t plan on keeping the car you can try some transmission fluid additives that may stop the slipping but I’ve never tried those and they are only a temporary fix.
How many miles?
Ciao perfavore mi dici come ai montato specchietti così ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
what is your opinion of aftermarket parts suppliers like FCP Euro and others?
They’re good. They can get OE and OEM parts. I like FCP because of their warranty
@@SoCal210 yeah, that's why I asked, the warranty is stellar, but some companies with that kinda warranty still offer sh!t parts. thx.
Just bought a 02 e430 with 150 k miles
Congrats!
I bought one and replaced the tranny valve body. It on limp mode now.
My 1999 E430 is 297k miles. Taking it to 600k
I’m looking at a 2002 e430 n I hear a ticking noise from the engine is that normal or does that sound like it would be an engine issue ?!
Hard to say over the internet. Most of the time when there is a ticking noise on these cars it’s from the cats and is not an issue.
Oil pump pressure?
Where did you get your wheels refinished?
Wheel Repair Specialists
Hello. I have several questions about your mods. Can you drop your mail? To be able to contact with you.
socal2ten at gmail
The only w210 true killer is rust. They corrode so badly in winter countries and it is no better story in summer countries you will find little rust growing in corner spots behind door handles, under the door seals, wheel arches, fenders, trunk and a really dangerous one that lots of owners are not aware until it happens is the front suspension springs towers so watch out for that one its critical and most people dont realise until the spring just breaks free and if it happens while driving could cause a really serious accident. Even in the best units this corrosion problem lives on them, it doesnt show but its growing under the paint of every single 210.
Apart from that and the pre series wiring harness going bad its a car for lifetime.
Can somebody tell me which Black colour is this ?
040 Black
why cover up the fron seats? no point in saving the seats for next owner.
I’m saving them for myself. No point in causing more wear to them if I’m just moving the car around or driving to somewhere. I can take it off when I park to see the seats. You don’t even notice the cars when you’re driving
1996 to 2003 w210 i have a 2003
I thought the headlights were glass
Nope, they were always plastic on w210
holla back at me so i can send you a pick of mines... every good bout this car is Facts ,,
Milage?
Stated in the video. 199k
Dont you have problems with rust?
No. I live in a dry climate
FAKE 55 should have E43 and AMG badging. It has all the parts to make it so.
that i!tch Nasty, already ,,, I gotta 1999 im bringing out, , lets trade, 170 miles no check ingine light nothing,,,
Egr delete
Sure your check engine light will be on but just imagine all the gunk you cleaned out of the egr tube burning in your cylinder because that's what's happening. Your ecu can compensate for the extra air coming in and it runs great
You shouldn't have painted the grill.
you shouldn’t tell people what to do with their cars
It looks much nicer with a mean look.
I bought one to sell and now I’m like dang 🫤
