maybe not our all-time favorite Pokemon game, but a solid refresh for the franchise
Okay
Heck Yeah
Kewl, thanks for the honest opinion
Maybe the real Pokémon.. were the friends we made along the way..
What's your favourite though?
I've watched/read every review of this game from larger publications, and this feel like a good balance of "it's fresh and new and you're going to enjoy it" with an appropirate amount of "the next one better look nicer, but a step in the right direction." Nice Jake.
Aye Austin, the grind you put in on each new pokemon release for informative videos is next level. Thankyou
Thanks!!
Hope so, because it just isn’t impressing my eyes for these new age expensive switch games. A step in the right direction is correct, but for a what..? Billion dollar corporation, I’m looking for a Pokémon to be a premium experience. A step is a step tho
I love this game
What people always seem to forget is that game freak doesn't have much expirence with this stuff, they have been releasing pretty much the same type of games for years, the same battle and catch mechanics, the same veiw and style, this was a step out of their own comfort zone and while it really isn't as polished as it should be it is indeed a step in the right direction that we really needed, graphically it is awful but pokemon was never about the grass or trees, it was about the incredible monsters that even now look incredible
Imagine if there were wild Pokemon battling each other; that'd add so much more immersion and life into the world. It'd also just generally be fun to spectate those battles from the sideline!
Honestly thatwould be great, granted the anime makes it seem like finding pokemon requires some skill, location and luck. I think if they apply this to a modern region would be outstanding. Industrial and rural and maybe have it be game with random people or friends can be added on top of the story. Could open it to amazing events and even take over for those empty visuals.
And just waiting there for the winner so that we can catch it 🤣😁
And imagine how cool it would be to see alphas fighting
Let's just hope there will be a Gold/Silver situation where they build upon the new established formula
@@Shrek2Enthusiast turf war
Love the idea of this game, just wish they spent 1/2 more years on bettering it. We can all wait, no one is actually begging for a new game as fast as possible, but rather we just want a good game.
you sure seems like people have been begging for more games lately do to them being stuck at home with the pandemic stuff still going on. but i do agree with ya id love to have good games released than rushed messes. loving this game tho iv never been in the competitive scene of Pokémon so this game iv found extremely enjoyable. some of my friends who are in to the competitive part of the series don't like this game for the fact that there is no online battles or gyms in the game.

So many Pokemon games, its like the 2K stuff, money grabs. I’d prefer 1 Pokemon game every 2 years or so and make a drastic difference between each.
@@R0n1n760 yeah they did the 2 years release with sword and shield to brilliant diamond and shining pearl idk why they speed this game out
@@TrueAce2146 y’all need to understand literally there is three different teams doing three different projects. A outside company made BDSP, not game freak. While the outside company made bdsp, Game freak divided into two groups. One group was developing PLA and the other group been developing Pokémon scarlet and violet. Many ppl think bdsp came out and they started developing and made arceus a few months later. Same with the new games. These games had their own teams to work on it for years. Most of these games probably been worked on since sword and shield so yes these games are getting the 2+ year develop time they need, So it’s not like they are as a whole just developing games after games. They just have more than one team working on different projects and have a release date for those said games
Does anyone else love the PokeBall designs. Like how they are homemade looking with a little locking latch on the front. I love the concept of being in the past with pokemon training being something new to the world.
In BOTW sometimes you would see the dragons and you were like “what!!!!, im gonna go up there at some point and fight that thing”. Thats what we mean by “the world coming to life.” Theres stuff thats inaccessible, there are things to do. Use a golem to open up a cave. Use a gyrados to make a whirl pool that brings a cool item from the bottom of a lake. A whalelord breaches off in the distance. You walk up on pokemon fighting and catch both of them. You can see tracks on the ground and follow them. You use growlithe to sniff out pokemon or items. You see a herd of Rapidash that get scared and start a forest fire. You join the squirtle squad and fight fires. Those are just a few ideas.
there's a reason people still uncover secrets and stuff in botw even like 5 years after release :,)
Saw a flying gyarados in the mountains
Bruh, I legit thought those are actual features in the game. Didn't realize it was your list of wishes. I was jabaited 😂
Great ideas
“B-but it would take Gamefreak eight years to do that”
I’m loving the game, but I do agree that the world overall feels lifeless. I said this with SWSD, I wanted to see Pokémon have environmental interactions, run in herds, have territorial differences etc something, I think they could add it in if they wanted.
Yes! Monster Hunter would be a good template for Pokemon to follow.
@@lostsurferjames5 that would be the gold standard. I hope they improve it, it's not like the franchise doesn't have money to do it
they should. like new snap
With the herd thing, they had a pretty good idea with the infestation events that happen, so I hope they add onto to that.
Agree with what you said. To be fair, they had to release 1 game per year. So PLA is likely a test of water and we will see things more fully realized in Gen 9. Imagine if we could:
- Come across Pokemons foraging; throwing berries to lure these Pokemons will be extra effective because they're hungry. By the same logic, Pokemons that aren't hungry will be less responsive to thrown berries.
- If the Pokemon sees you throw the berries, depending on that Pokemon's disposition (e.g., some species or individuals might be less gullible) and hunger level, that Pokemon might instead investigate the source of the berries.
- During mating season, some Pokemon species become more territorial than usual. In the real world, many species of animals (especially the males) become extra aggressive to defend their territories in mating season.
- You might come across Pokemons engaging in leisure activities, during which they're likely to be in a good mood and become more willing to approach you. What 'leisure activities' consist of depend on the species, e.g., for Machoke, leisure activity means working out (think what they did in Pokemon Snap).
- Some Pokemon species are solitary. Some species hang out in large herds. Some hang out in small cliques.
I can’t say it’s a 10/10 game ,but defenely I’m getting 10/10 enjoyment out of it xD

Something that has be waiting to buy this game is the lack of gym battles and such. I think people want this open world experience, but also have the ability to battle for gym badges and have rivals. It's a very big part of the Pokémon experience. It would be great if the next game incorporates that and has like multiple regions/leagues you can participate in.
So True . I want gyms this formula with gyms will blow people's mind.
@@dbomba nope
But in this region it doesn’t really make sense though. At this point of time, pokemons are still fairly alien creatures to human, thus why it’s more catching, researching and discovering rather than battling for sport to be the pokemon champion like the modern pokemon games.

I like the direction the Pokemon series is going in, I don't like that Game Freak continues to put in low effort and I don't like that fans continue to reward them for putting in low effort. I'd like to see a Pokemon game being made with a similar level of passion to the Zelda series or Super Smash brothers but I doubt that will ever happen; as long as the fans keep saying "it's good enough, I had fun."
I'm probably just salty that I want to like this literal billion dollar idea, but the "Chef" cant be bothered to properly cook anything with their top tier ingredients. So the outcome usually isn't bad and can even be good, but should be much better then it is.
I would like to play this game, but at the same time, I don't want to settle for mediocrity. Gamefreak has money and resources to make this game even better. We'll wait and see if this spin off is good enough to make a sequel.
@@MrPenetroso Buy it secondhand
@Joshua Robin The highest-grossing media franchise in the world, yet you couldn't tell by looking at their games. If Capcom can make Monster Hunter Rise look as good and perform as well as it does on the Switch, Game Freak has no excuse.
Doesn't help that their lead Pokemon designer is shit too. Those new Dialga and Palkia forms give me nightmares.
@Joshua Robin Okay, so say no one buys this game, then what? All you’ve told Game Freak is that you don’t want this new kind of direction in Pokémon, and all you’ve done is giving them the excuse to not try any innovations in the future because they’ll say, hey we tried and no one wanted it. How does that solve anything?
I think it's more like they have a top tier cook and the restaurant has millions of dollars in funding. But they are serving us McDonald's cheese burgers because they know people will buy it even though it's less quality
I think I'd wanna see adding in your other pokemon during a large pokemon battle that feels like it'd add in a huge amount of fun and realism to me personally
@Doktor so you’d make the game easier? No fun
I love the direction the franchise is heading, but I think that indeed filling up the world and adding more to the AI would definitely freshen up the game. Pokémon living thier lives, reproducing, growing up, eating, sleeping, just having their own AI schedule over the days would be fun.
Perhaps adding a mechanic that you shouldn't catch too many of em or else they would risk becoming extinct in the wild. Or just breeding them in captivity and repopulating the landscape with em if there are few of them in the wild.
You're talking about breeding? On a game made for children?
@@joythief I absolutely did. If you've ever read any of the ghost pokedex entrances you'll find the term breeding very, very innocent.

I get everything he is saying but the part I agree more with is that Game Freak has an infinite amount of budget and they could create the ultimate Pokemon game with the tech available right now and the talent of the devs, but they know they will get away with anything and people will play it anyway because its Pokemon and its the most popular franchise out there so why even try right? Thats what bothers me the most, we will not get the full potential of an open world RPG POKEMON game, well this is the closest we will get to I guess.

I do firmly believe this is a step in the right direction and perhaps because of that we should praise it slightly more in the hope that this does become the foundation for the future games (or at least a different series of future games)

@Mega Nezumi Still, it's no excuse for them not to add it.

I agree totally I’ve always loved Pokémon and SoulSilver was my shit. It was so fun being able to walk with your Pokémon and it made the game so much better because it felt more interactive that way instead of just 2d landscapes with a miniature trainer.
@@pichaelthompson I mean, at least most of not all of the sizes are right in this game
I need more towns in the game. More to explore and some dynamic events. The anime series has so much ideas which they could use for the game. It's a shame, that we have to end up with such an empty "open world".
I see it as a concept for a mutch better game. I hope they make another game or an Update that expand the map with more pokemon or more trainers.
Other than that I really love the game and enjoy the new experience
It's definitely a great step forward. What I think would really help with the world atmosphere is stuff other than just pokemon. E.g caves, ruins, forests where you come across puzzles that could be solved by using particular elemental moves or similar. More connection between landscape and lore.
Really sad lack of caves.
The tense claustrophobic feeling of the couple small caves there were was great. I wish there were more.
@@SuperMario1005 When I came across the giant waterfall, I tried swimming into it expecting there to be a hidden cave, but nope ):
100% agree! The real time battles and ability to move your trainer makes you feel really involved similar to what you might see in the anime. Having your Pokemon help you get items also adds to this feel of team work! I love these things and I know to some they may seem small but it really helps with world building and immersion. Let’s go, while much more casual did this well in some ways and I love that they stepped it up!
Imho it really doesn't add much. I mean the emersion is good. So it's an improvment but it doesn't make up for things the game lost in the conversion
You can reach the stuff in the trees yourself you don't need Pokemon "teamwork" for that
yeah im hoping in the next game pokemon will help you even more for example solve puzzles. Like maybe fire pokemon can light touches etc.
@@timotheninja I feel the the exclusion of those made sense given the game was more focused on single-player/catching multiple pokemons vs breeding a perfect IV/EV team for multiplayer/battle tower/etc.
@@timotheninja I've been playing for about 10+ hours, and for as much as I wish to have battle/held items and abilities, this game wouldn't really work that well with them (at least conceptually). Canonically, Hisuians barely want to do anything at all with Pokemon, so it makes sense why there's no held item option (same goes with breeding). Nobody knows much about Pokemon. Much less how they react with certain items. The only people who actually battle are the Corps, and even then, they barely know anything either.
The more I think about it, the more it makes sense to do away with abilities. Some abilities would be downright clunky to execute, such as weather. Specially since engaging in battle is so seamless.
That being said, I hope they build up on this concept and maybe start implementing some of the old mechanics into future "Legends" installments.
This is my first Pokemon game since Pokemon Blue, and I'm absolutely in love with it. I grew up at the show and never had a vested interest in the games before, but I watched a friend playing and fell in love.
I've always been really confused with why a pokemon game hasn't tried a more real time aspect to the gameplay leaving the fighting and catching to be its own separate animation filled sequence. I'm personally really excited to try this game out

It's a good fresh for sure, PLA does make me feels like a real trainer that allows me to do my own stuff, besides following the main story line but also explore places, collecting ingredients, crafting and catching Pokemon in various way. I honestly think this is how a Pokemon game should be.
It seems totally devoid of anything but a soulless collectathon
Agree but also disagree at some point. Like I said it's a good start, this is the very first game they adopt a brand new mechanic (beside classic battles), and considering the background timeline of PLA, it's understandable that the world has less population and pokemons, where people barely knows anything about pokemon, unlike modern pokemon worlds, there was no trust built up between human and pokemons.
But yes, I think they could use this as a fundamental to work on and create a wider contents, instead of just catching pokemons for the sake of research and collections.
I’ll wait for them to do Gold/Silver over in this style. It’d be so cool to explore Kanto and Johto in a open world style. And hopefully it’d be set in the modern Pokémon era.
no way, there would be no point in doing johto in this style and not doing something with the legendary dogs in ancient times etc
@@vivi-wr8nm The legendary dogs weren't that ancient, iirc. They died in the tower fire which, while not recent, likely wasn't more than maybe the imperial Japan era. I could be wrong, though.
@@vivi-wr8nm nah, the main drawback to this game was that it was set in olden times, the population is tiny and few towns makes it seem like a giant boring empty sandbox. Silver/Gold was set in modern times and it’s probably the best game in the series. It wouldn’t make sense to go back in time and catch the dogs since in the future Silver/Gold can catch them. One of the best things about Pokémon is the technology, like the Pokédex, PC banks, and Pokémon centers.

Pokemon Legends Darkest Day: Galar
These are ones they could do off the top of my head
a few things they could do to liven the world up:
- saturate the colors a little, use more vibrant ones
- maybe make it so the pokemon do their own thing. i wanna see schools of fish, stampedes of rhyhorn, and prides made up of luxray, luxio, shinx, and one alpha luxray
- pokemon battling each other
- a few retextures to make it all less blurry
I've not played a pokemon game since red & blue, but I picked this one up because it looked totally different and I'm loving it. So many new pokemon I've never seen! I do agree about the lifeless environment though. At one point a character I was following lead us to a cave and said it was going to be dark and I thought "oh neat this will be interesting, should I get my ponyta out to light the way?" then went in and everything was completely visable, no challenge at all :|

I enjoy the game and playing it all the time recently, the Agile and Strength styles are about turns=speed, if your pokemon has high speed and you use agile style (that deals less dmg per hit) you can use it twice as your pokemon will have 2 turns before your enemy have one (dealing more dmg even than Strength style). It's not very complex but enough to grant you lots of fun from understanding those mechanics. Also sometimes while we fighting one pokemon there is other wild pokemon who will join the fight if he's/she's close enough from your fight and here I wish they could add some aoe or at least let us pick which one we want to attack (I had once fight with 2 regular wild pokemon and one mini boss and it was really clunky because of lack of choice who to attack yet being attacked by all) I hope it'll be added in future

@@robertkavanaugh1899 Its good for a newbie, and the journey is definitely fun, but the endgame is just mindless completion of the Pokedex, which has you doing mundane tasks like, "use this move 50 times, capture this 20 times, see this evolve 10 times."
I really wish they would recreate the old Pokémon games (story line and ALL) into a world like this… thats what I’m looking for so bad.
im sure new fans would appreciate that as well.
I loved pokemon and still do long after the original games /cards. I've been waiting for something like this!
Now that we’re getting more realistic, Id love to see some further updates in game design: For example You can only use Gyaradose when in a water environment (until obtaining an item that allows you to make a pond or tank for him on land). Seeing him and other out-of-element Pokemon simply float above the ground kinda breaks the immersion for me.
Well he's a flying type Soo..
...You do remember that Gyarados is part Flying-Type, don't you?
From someone that started pokemon back on the gbc and played it pretty much through out its different interations, watching the shows and buying the tcg. This is awesome, can it be refined, yes. But the fact Gamefreak took this step and will probably progress from it is awesome.
I love the game so much, finally feels like a proper RPG. Really hope this game influences gen 9 and beyond. If the next game improves battling and becoming the Pokemon League Champion like this game improves completing the Pokedex, we could be looking at the best Pokemon game ever. For now though this is great, I spent the majority of today just grinding in the first area instead of progressing in the 2nd where I am and it is just so much fun. It is the first Pokemon game where I can see myself fully completing the game though we will see, I am still early into the game yet.
Same
Yeah, I'm on the second area as well. Only got the time to watch this video because I'm waiting for my Switch lite to finish charging. I like this game a lot.
I definitely feel like they were testing the waters for something bigger here with Arcaeus
@@dan9806 agree. the only reason im not grinding pokemon legend is because i have to charge the switch
Finally a review i can full agree on
So far I'm enjoying the game a lot and many of the new mechanics are very enjoyable. I just hope that the next time they go with this style of game they either have better optimisation, there is no reason for the game to have this bad of a pop in with this quality of graphics or a better switch needs to have been released. For a first of its type by Gamefreak it's a good start though
A Hardware upgrade for the switch would be nice, but there’s no reason you couldn’t have a game that both runs and looks better on the current switch.Odyssey and BOTW are good examples of this.
@@2122Hellfire which is why I have both options, either better optimised software or stronger hardware. I just have less faith in Gamefreak than I have in Nintendo. I feel like there is a higher chance for a stronger hardware than there is for Gamefreak to optimise their game properly
@@Belvayne yeah that’s fair
Do you think the tutorials and cut scenes in Pokemon Legends Arceus are a bit too much and actually prevents you from enjoying the game?
@@vicenteplantier1756 I don't mind since pokemon is still targeted towards children but I do dislike most of the NPC's a lot. The way they set the story up just isn't for me. But oh well, it's a fun pokemon game nonetheless
All you have to do is get to research level 10 you don't have to do all the tasks.
Also there's a lot of Pokemon behavior that you notice later on like for example a chilled Pokemon that doesn't normally attack you if you start attacking it's friends all of a sudden that nice Pokemon is no longer chilled.
I've always had trouble keeping my attention on a game for too long, but this has me close to the end with no long breaks. That's never happened to me before. It just sucked me in
Seeing as the last Pokémon game I played, maybe silver or gold, back in the game boy color days, I've been wanting to get back into the game. This is certainly closer to how I've always imagined the game should be
Missed quite a lot of good games
This is a no go
Would love for all the generations to get one of these. On the fence about this one but definitely would buy a better looking one of these for Gen 5 (assuming they don't remake gen 1 for the millionth time). Also it would be great if Game Freak ditched the blocky path format that the older games had when they remake them. They kept that look in Let's Go as well as Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire and recently with the remakes of Diamond and Pearl.
Definitely a great next step for pokemon, but i got pretty bored of the gameplay loop relatively quick. Lots of bad texture glitches and bad pop-in that kept intruding on the visual experience. When you go into caves, the pokemon and character models look super glitchy and have a weird white outline that is just horrendously awful to look at. Overall it's a good change, but poorly executed with little to actually do other than do boring side quests or just catch pokemon in a relatively lifeless world. Hopefully they can expand on this in the future because they definitely got something good going here!
I couldn't believe they let that cave part slide. That was so awful and so lazy. Coming from the richest and most successful franchise of ALL TIME. Theres no excuse for it
@@Haildawn Hopefully Scarlett and Violet turn out better!
Great next step for the franchise. My true dream as a poke fan is this kind of exploration style but with Pokken Tournament style battling instead of turn based though I think that might be a little to complicated/in depth to ever pull off
The duties required to get the info for pokemon feels sort of like a hassle, but makes more sense than having info after one catch
There's a lot of weird visual bugs around bodies of water, and when the camera goes through the trees there's a lot of lag, but I'm really enjoying the game so far
i like the tiled water textures lol
I was 6 when red came out and i was hooked and seeing Pokémon like this 26 years later it’s breath taking from the first game and i have purchased the game and it’s wonderful although the world is bland and kinda gets old just as gameranx said although those problems i still enjoyed it greatly good buy
i just ordered the game today should be at my house some time soon but i hope this is the beggining of new types of pokemon games. The resson i mainly began to love pokemon is because of the anime and i hope in the next few games they will make as you said the map more vibrent and more of a challenge on finding and catching pokemon.
This game was what I needed. My only thing is if they did in modern times big cities and adding like 12 of them full of life probably was a challenge they weren't yet ready to take. Then also adding a bunch of regions on top of it. I'm ready to see whats next I freaking love this installation I haven't bought a Pokemon game in 10 years until now
The games supposed to be based in the ancient past
Modern cities wouldn’t make sense
@@jakesmall8875 well obviously but what i think he was implying is that they made arceus with the intent of seeing how good these type of games do, so if people love the game they’ll probably do this but in modern day
@@jakesmall8875 you literally didn't read a damn thing and just commented to try to sound snarky. Please go away
@@jakesmall8875 You do know though that A. in the prologue, the player is brought in from the future, B. The “ancient” past is only “ancient” in terms of the modern games and that “ancient” is more like 200-600 years or so, let alone that C. They have portable cameras, steam power, and information is being shared across the world at a relatively speedy pace for its time, which would basically put the era these games are set in to be the late 1800s to early 1900s starting at the earliest around 1880 and capping at the latest at the 1940s.
Been playing for a few hours now and this is basically what I thought Pokémon Snap was going to be when I first heard about it as a kid. It's awesome.
Great review, I’m going to get this tonight. From what you said about the, catch 8 of this Pokémon etc. that reminds me of world of Warcraft questing. Looking forward to it
I was on the fence with this game's visual problems at times but I think I'll try it out now after hearing all the pros you gave in the video. Thanks!
Well, definitely disappointed by the low levels of polish on the landscapes but seems like a step in the right direction
@Joshua Robin fr that game is okay but not that great overall
It's a Wii game in 2022 lol
I have been playing Pokémon since fire red. I will buy every generation of Pokémon but I always end up being bored because it’s the same every time. But this game is so refreshing and I’ve literally spent hours just in the first area completing tasks for the Pokédex. I haven’t played Pokémon for hours in such a long time
Are there any gym battles or the pokemon league?
me too! i always play pokemon game, every single one except remake, but as i got older i spent less and less hours playing it, but with legends, omg i spent my weekend doing nothing but playing it! the most fun i had with pokemon game in ages!!!
Time to get a life it sounds like
@@dallashoopz4133 no gym battles, no league, and no multiplayer Pokemon fights
@@deathmachine200 I feel like I wasted 60 bucks...
This'll be my first pokemon game. Really looking forward to it. I really wish they'd do this open world rpg but like include ALL the regions and pokemon yaknow
Keep up these great videos my guy. Love your content I always go watch your videos before I buy.
One of my favorite additions to the game is they added different Pokémon to the world like they didn’t just stay with the region of Shino.
I didn't like this idea. They usually make the appearence of pokemons fitting to the world the game plays. The modern looking pokemon just don't match the old asian world in my opinion. Same goes for some buildings and clothes...

Honestly thought this was what it was gonna be like when I heard a Pokémon game was coming to the switch in 2018, hopefully they do gen 9 similar to how they did this game
This was the first Pokemon game i´ve ever played and the first game on switch for me, and it was so so so good i loved it so much, it was so real and just great and after that i played the other games and they were like a step back for me, that you cant just throw a pokeball on a pokemon if you want, you have to go to a battle and only then you can try to catch it i wish there would be more pokemon games like this
The whole open world concept is great and there’s a ton of amazing mechanics they’ve added. I absolutely love this game as a demo or introduction. I find it hard to enjoy the story and I only play now to get it out of the way so I can play brilliant diamond!
I wasn’t expecting perfection when such a different game to the norm came out but I have seriously enjoyed my self I don’t know why being able to walk around while I battle is so great to me but I just love that they added that detail in
I’ve never played a Pokémon game before but this seems interesting to me, I agree the world looks a little empty as far environmental stuff but still seems like it could be fun.
3:59 I could swear the sound when picking up an object is the same as in Zelda BOTW
ill definitely buy it however I'm really hoping for the next one to have just a little more detail graphics wise, other than that it looks and sounds like the Pokémon game I've been waiting for! although like a comment I read an MMO & being able to battle other players/ just see them or catch Pokémon with friends would be amazing.
I have been a fan of Pokémon since generations one love seeing the fresh take on the franchise it’s been so fun I highly recommended buying it
Kinda refreshing to hear that they’re bringing back the grindy challenge. Might buy the next installment if they keep these mechanics going.
Hopefully you didn't reward them for their low effort attempt here. If the next actually shows some promise from a a billion dollar corp, then maybe it'll be a purchase consideration.
jynxce I rewarded them for it and have no regrets because it’s fun and I like it:)
@@jynxce i dont buy lets go, i bought sword second-hand, didnt even bother with bdsp, but for this one i bought it and didnt regret it one cent, i have too much fun with this game and i want to reward support and appreciate game freak for this game, bye!
I like the objectives in the pokedex.
gives you a reason to use every pokemon (unevolved and fully evolved) in this game. I like it.
@@jynxce YES. If Gamefreak makes it, I pirate🏴☠️
Ngl it reminds me of this old pc game that was made by one guy, i think the name of it was pokemon generation and i remember playing it as a kid and loving the idea, i think they sued the guy that made it and he had to stop development, he had a different way of battle which i would love to see in future since it resembled the anime more so instead of it being turn based you would have a stamina gauge and you would take control of your pokemon so you could dodge oncoming attacks and hit them with a counter after or you could lay back and just pummel them with ranged attacks, the battle mechanics were amazing in that game but it never really went anywhere but i would loved to see that battle style in future games even though i highly doubt it'll ever be done
I’m enjoying the open game of this it’s fresh guess the graphics the way we are but I’m really enjoying it and I’m really hooked on it especially doing sneaking around catching Pokémon especially catching alpha Pokémon that’s really good and also what they done with a shiny Pokémon that’s even more fun I hope they bring all this game mechanic into the new Pokémon games on the Make them
Glad i canceled my pre order. You mentioned pretty much everything that made me do so. I got my eyes on Shin Megami Tensei V instead now but I still got BOTW to finish and horizon is getting pretty close as well!
When you already bought the game but still appreciate an honest review about it anyway 😎👍
thanks!
Same 🥲
Sucks for y’all, have fun looking at another Minecraft looking Pokémon game
I’m about 6 hours in and in Crimson Mirelands now! I’m loving the game so far!
Im taking this game as a pilot open world Pokemon game. Im hoping that if everyone enjoys this game more than the main series games, remakes could end up going this route and that would be amazing and they would be able to build on the issues Legends Arceus had. So im going to focus on the pros and think of the cons as more of a minor issue for now
This is definitely an Episode of "after you buy" for me 😂
I was able to play the new Arceus for about 3 hours today and I have to say I'm really excited. Rarely has a Pokémon game flashed me so much! It's extremely addictive, at least for me!😅 Personally, I would have wished for more sandbox elements, but at least Pokémon is finally breaking new ground here! I'm still dreaming of a Pokémon MMO with a huge open world where you can walk around freely, catch any Pokémon you like, celebrate with friends or duel against other trainers from all over the world or or or !🤣
That's what the negative comments are trying to tell you, though. I want exactly what you want. If you buy this game now, Nintendo will never make that MMO we all want. They know they can get away with mediocrity. You got to think how long has Pokemon been around? How long has WoW been around? Why haven't they done this sooner? Because they can spend less money and time making garbage and everyone will still buy it.
Would love some exciting biomes in the next game. Something like the glimwood tangle from sword and shield would be cool
Can’t wait to get the game!
What I’ve seen so far, it looks like it’s still in Beta. Looks really fun, but with some more work it could of been unbelievable!
Man imagine this style of game from them but gen 3-5. This game is going to be epic by then. Imagine the normal gym battles, populated towns and in-between, a better landscape, more things to do, an evil team rocket doing shenanigans, an elite four, like this is going to be epic if handled correctly.
I'd been debating whether or not to buy this recently and you guys clinched it for me. I'm gonna wait awhile. Maybe a future update will fill out the world a bit more? Thanks for the great reviews, gameranx!
"Maybe a future update will fill out the world a bit more" is some hardcore copium. You know GF isn't gonna do anything
@@SinfulSaint0102 you do realize we are getting dlcs right? That definitely will help. ( the game is rated for it meaning it is happening)
@Facts *person decides to not get the game that they've been debating on getting because it's empty
"maybe a dlc will fix it"
Yeah no coping here.
@@SinfulSaint0102 shouldn’t have to rely on paid content to actually get what you want from the game. The game should’ve already been dense for literally 60 dollars. This game looks more like a 20 - 30 dollar game.
@@Shuki.. I get where your coming from but what do you think about other games that have dlc like Breath of the Wild which was in development for five years(btw this isn't me bashing the game itself).
I don’t own Nintendo switch but I still love watching before you buy videos even if I don’t own the console or not bothered about the game I still watch them, love it! 👍🏻
Given up on PM games a long time ago, and eventually on PM as well, it's just that for a franchise that profits so much the games just doesn't live up to personal expectations after a certain age, especially when other game creators including indie ones have come so far. guess there won't ever be a day when that amazement of seeing the anime and earlier games would come back, even if the technology is there(because you know GF won't spend the money on it because they'd sell anyway)
Things I want in the next one better graphics, greater draw distance, more Pokemon, better story, and voice acting.
The pokemon universe is the only universe i could see being a metaverse or whatever. Create a base world, and then add "regions" and new pokemon with "seasons".
Fck no
They had different seasons and Pokemon types for the seasons in black and white
Definitely sold me! I hadn't really paid much attention to Arceus, but I'm loving Shield, and Arceus looks like a similarly fun experience.
Seeing you do the growlithe battle with level 30s makes me wonder if i grinded too hard at the start bc my team was all 60 when i got to that point...lol
