I don’t think I’ve ever been more excited about a nomination than Stephanie Hsu getting in for Everything Everywhere All At Once. It seemed like she was gonna miss out in the end, but I was backing that she’d get in right til Oscar nomination morning (mostly through wishful thinking). She brought to life a character that I think will be a defining one for this decade of cinema, with a performance that was easily one of the best of the year and my personal favourite

I really loved Jamie Lee Curtis in EEAAO and I'm so glad she won! There must be others of my kind. That was a really great character she helped create and the win for a comedic performance is great too. Also I do listen to the All Quiet score sometimes, it and the Dunkirk score are the two I switch between in terms of ambient scores. But! I absolutely agree about Colin Farrell!

I knew Stephanie Hsu would get an Oscar nomination for EEAAO but tbh I think Angela Bassett should've won the Oscar. Don't get me wrong I adore Jamie Lee Curtis, so happy she got an Oscar, and EEAAO is a far superior movie comparing with BP: Wakanda Forever, but Angela Bassett performance stayed with me for a very long time and I really thought that was her time. Now the Honorary Oscar that Angela is receiving feels a little bittersweet, but so happy that she's winning one.

It just sucks that Stephanie Hsu had to be pushed aside in order for that to happen.

Fun choices, Brian! I agree with Colin Farrell, he was my second favorite in the Best Actor category and I'm glad he finally got an Oscar nomination. Ditto with Stephanie Hsu, she was incredible and should have been the Supporting Actress win from Everything Everywhere All At Once. Close was also by personal favorite pick for International Feature Film, sticks with me far longer than All Quiet On The Western Front. Thanks for another great video.

Despite being an Asian-American teen who deeply related to EEAAO, I firmly believe that Cate Blanchett DESERVED the Oscar for Best Actress. Michelle Yeoh was long overdue for an Oscar and her performance was spectacular, but Blanchett’s performance was just out of this world.

To me both cate in tar and Michelle in EEAO are in caliber special groups of actresses who give performance that are beyond being great acting and more if this will change the idea of how we practice and view film acting similar to how I see it in Meryl Streep in Sophie’s choice, Vivian Leigh in both gone with the wind and a streetcar named desire, whoopi Goldberg in the color purple, charli Theron in monster etc. I wish there was a Katharine Hepburn/Barbra Streisand moment where they both win

All Quiet On The Western Front was one of the best nominations last year. I was surprised it won more than one Oscar. Best International was an easy win, but Best Original Song, Best Cinematography and Best Production Design that’s crazy (in a good way). I don't get the appeal at all, and I honestly think it's one of his weakest films. I do agree with you that Stephanie Hsu gave the best supporting actress performance of the five nominees. And when it comes to Bryan Tyree Henry, one day he will win an Oscar.

One of my favorite nominations was Hong Chau for The Whale. The first time I watched the teaser trailer and there was that closeup of her face in tears, I immediately wanted her to come along for the ride alongside Brendan and I'm so glad she was nominated in what was a fairly competitive slot for best supporting actress. She was easily the most grounded character in the movie and I hope she'll be a winner in the future. As for Cate Blanchett, it was of course a masterclass of an acting performance and Michelle Yeoh did deserve that win too. Cate can easily win a third Oscar very soon. Babylon deserved best score too, it continues to get popularity and attention and will remain so. Hurwitz is a mad genius and he can definitely top himself with his next score.

Top Gun is dnibned for Cinematography because it's flight dhots were shot in the studio and/or in the studio.
It's Editing is very good but the reason why it lost to EEAAO is because it is quite an easy gim to edit, multiple ways to fit on fact, as most of it's scenes are flight scenes. Remember we are talking about Editing.

Ok, I'm in the other corner when it comes to Babylon, I think it deserved what it got (nothing). At many points i was so disinterested in the story and the characters that I paid more attention to the musical score. And there were too many occasions that I said to myself, this is the same riff as in LaLaLand. I mean, if I only heard the score of Babylon, without knowing much about the movie or the composer, I'd say it must be by the same guy who scored LaLaLand. Colin Farrell won Best Actor in the Gold Derby Awards with Stephanie Hsu, Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quan. That shows how much the general fans ove this performance
But I heard Coillin is not much well liked in the Hoywood Circe. He is a nice person but he takes no nonsense from others.
As for BAFYA Colin is not well known there - I mean his body of work whereas two supporting performers who won are Irish born - born closer yto home
If NAFTA were to give to Colin Farrell, it would somehow lower the esteem of the other two performers. So why not give to Austin Butler who is playing an American personality who is a word icon

Michelle,:s acting is also rquivarnty gteat because of the way dhe uses EEAAO's visual effects to enhance her performance and the second part of the dhow it was bery meayy gfor her. In fact in the Varoety channe, Cate was rager and cutoous how Michelle Yeoh accompished her feat.
Cate voud have easiy eon in any other year, even with mutipe wins already in her bag.
Jupiter which signify Progrsdors is a functional malefic in Cate:s chart ruing the 7th house of Papperasi and 10th house of worthy eorks but luck (9th house) and past life credits (5th house) are not in her favour.

    But jee me lee curtis...
Good performance but small role..and if we remove her role nothing will be empty in film.
    Leading actross...
I dont like all category...l like just ( rospry..and deanyel deadwyler how snubed).
    Cate blanchet..make bad film...😕😕😕
They give her nommination for just her performance.
The idea of film( new ) and ( wonderfull).
But the story of film and screenply( baaaaad)and empty). Bad auther.
He have idea but he have not story to tar.
And the idea based on freanch searies named( meastra ).
Cate blanchet ( tar ) in the last hour of film...
    Just ( walk) and(drive car) and(go up and downstair)..and make accedent..talk with her self..go to hosptel..(walk ).
    What the fuck??? 😒
Bad film..and worst ( dialoge).. i dont understand what she talk about.
The film maker no her contender.. nothing else.
I think kate she make film upo...becase of her great talent.
    Everhthing..everywhere..all it once.
A can not beleave..sweap the oscar...
We can not consider film good if we dont understand it.
No one can understand the film at all even the auther...
    Stubid film😕😒
    Action film for jacki shan.
    With stupid sceance.
The only one who win and deaserve

Prenden give us theatrical film..with clear masigge.
    Prenden was leading.
Collin same supporting in leading role.

Honestly, I don’t get all that acclaim of Hsu’s performance. She was fine, but nothing more. Her performance was too showy for me. It’s an unpopular opinion, but it’s MY PERSONAL one, I can’t believe she got an Oscar nomination for THIS. For me, Jamie Lee Curtis was by far much more original and fun to watch. She was basically a scene-stealer in Everything Everywhere All at Once. Again, imo, ofc

I think the Hsu performance being showy was the point given how Yeoh’s character views her daughter. I definitely disagree that Jamie was strong enough to be prioritized period.
