I love watching Chris Perkins DM after DMing my own 5e session. This month marks my first year playing D&D and I don't know how I lived without it for so long. I now DM three games a week for roughly twenty people. Monday's in the Shackled City and we're still in Chapter 1 ""Life's Bazaar" written by the Perkins. Wednesday's is Waterdeep: Dragon Heist and they are in THE vault right now. And my new Friday games are always oneshots. Even tonight's session, which was lack luster due to some poor DMing on my part, was still awesome. Thank you Wizards and thank you Mr.Perkins.
As with many of the other comments, a tear came to my eye at hearing of chris's departure. He was the DM that brought me back to the game, and showed me the true potential of tabletop RPGs. I still suggest those early podcasts to anyone interested in learning about d&d. I can certainly say it was chris and AI that convinced me to spend tons of money on rule books, modules and lore books. Wizards and PA should be very proud of the work they've done. We'll miss you Chris and good luck! Still staying on for DCA right?
I hope they had a freshly baked pies party for Chris after the show! XD He deserves a place in the D&D mithology, his 11 year long campaign will never stop teaching me new nuances to be a better DM and person. It was super sad to see him go but this makes it amazing to be alive. Now, I love the style Jeremy Crawford brought uncerimoniously like a blizzard. He's got the good stuff and I hope to see more of it!
I'm pretty sure Jarlaxle is Chris Perkins. If you look at the Dragon+ issue 20 cover for waterdeep dragon heist, I could swear he posed for it. www.dragonmag.com/5.0/#!/article/116511/103638140?loadFresh=true&title=20_01_Issue%2020%20Cover
While this is a huge change, I think this breaths some life and a new dynamic into the Acq Inc Brand. He's not gone, he's not forgotten. He'll cameo again at some point. And with the change of venue, I think this is the perfect opportunity to throw caution to the wind and see how another Master can handle their improvisational nuttery and bullshit. I am sad, but excited at the same time! LETS ACQUIRE THINGS, BOYS!

The End of an era, makes me little bit sad, it want be the same anymore, but change is part of life. The show is running for a very long time, i dont know the reason wy he quit, but i think it doesnt matter really, where this ended an era of entertaiment and enjoiment, a new era has started. Iam sad and at the same time happy and excited what is comming next. Thank you Christopher Perkins and the rest of Acquisitions Incorporated for all the years of fun.
This episode illustrates the pygmalion effect quite well. Walnut is treated as a good and ambitious employee, and she tries harder and succeeds more, whilte Viari is treated as a poor employee, causing him to fel bad about himself, hence perform poorly. This is why you should always expect the best from everyone, even and maybe especially people who do not come with the best recommendations. Something to think about.
SPOILERS . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . So... Chris Perkins SHAPED the direction of AQI, becoming one of the Holy Trinity of DMs. His adaptive style that remains unphased by hijinx sets the standard for the relaxed DM. I will miss him. Chris, I know you'll rock everything that you do. I tip my DM screen to you sir. Jeremy, you may have written the rules - now let's see if you rule the writing. Second....Walnut? Um. C-Team? She...ah...is one of their core four? Is she leaving the C-Team to become a AQI main player? I can only guess there will be some sort of reset that gets the team back, but their switch from the Nentyr Vale (excuse the spelling if in error) to Forgotten Realms set the stage for several seasons of play, and this is also how Viari joined the team. I could also see it as the pinnacle for Walnut's career - working with Omen. Is this where we discover why she adores him?
Starting this video: Super excited! Can't wait for Saturday! This is going to be great! Ending of video: No more Chris :'( not as happy about Saturday now :-(
Standing ovation to you Mr. Chris Perkins. Watching you DM Acquisitions Incorporated is what brought me back into Dungeons and Dragons, and for that, I thank you!
I loaded this video a little bit after it first came up, and the comments were basically a 50/50 split between people who just saw the intro and people who saw how it ended. I just refreshed this page and I'm very proud of who came out on top. Acq Inc will miss you, CP.
Chris, it’s been a privilege to participate in these adventures with you, these are memories I will always cherish and I look forward to the next arc Jeremy brings to us. x
Yikes, Acq Inc was the first real group I got into when I started playing DnD. And I always tried to emulate "DM to the stars" Chris Perkins. Don't really know if I'll have the same interest as before, nothing against Jeremy Crawford I do hope he changes my mind but damn. Been literally watching Jerry, Mike, and Chris since I was a kid. I know it was bound to end and Chris has plenty of other content but it is sad to see him go. Especially with all the people that have come and gone through Acq Inc in the year.
I personally feel that once Binwin left things felt just off, it's been obvious that he was prepping for replacements BUT still Perkins shoes are huge. I don't think they can be filled but I hope.
Trust in jeremey. If i remember he is the rules director for dungeons and dragons. If any one can put a hell of a story together and make it work itll be jeremy
Pax Unplugged in 3 days, so cheers for 2 new AI events in such a short period of time, glad they finish up the Apothecary story early. Can't wait to see what's in store for Pax. Jeremy Crawford is the lead D&D rules creator at Wotc so I'm excited to see his DM style.
Reading some of these comments makes me wonder if this is a marketing ploy , was Chris pushed out or was it voluntary? If he was forced that'll be the end of my AI fandom.
Richard Spedale I’ve always noticed tension with Jerry Holkins and Perkins after Jerry started running the C Team game. I bet it was Jerry that made the move to phase Perkins out. He seems like a dickwad to me.
I don't like to describe things as the "end of an era" too much, because I don't like to be emphatic about things that don't warrant it, but dude, end of an era.
I've come from the future to deliver an important message. Jeremy is a fantastic DM. He's extremely quick witted, his npcs are very articulate, grounded and fleshed out. As someone who commutes to classes, I absolutely adore his extremely descriptive nature as it really immerses me in the world even as I'm driving. As for the people who don't like the new setting, a new setting is just that, a new setting. Even if it is a tie in, any world is just a sandbox in the realm of D&D. The players are free to do as they wish. Without spoiling too much, he really brings the pain with some Gygaxian Funhouse of Horror fun. It's truly a treat.
Wow. I paused this with 11 minutes left to catch episode 5 of game of thrones tonight... and that was all I got? Would much rather have listened to another hour and a half of this tables game. Good show guys. More entertaining and genuine story than all of HBOs money and 7 seasons of build up could give to the fight between queens. You guys kick ass... now to listen to the last 11 minutes!
Why am I crying rite now? Thank you Chris Perkins. I care in late in the game but I have listened to every AI podcast and past show UA-cam has. You are one of the main reasons I got into D&D. Your story telling is amazing and I hope to see more of you in the future! Love you man.
Sooooooo great you're back to the table! I love the live shows but I miss the table games!!! Please bring these back! I know y'all are super busy but I need more OG AI with mah C Team!!!
Let me add to the public outcry: Chris!!!!! Noooooooo!!!!!! We will miss you a lot man, the way you run these games is the single biggest inspiration on how I run D&D that I can think of. Wouldn’t have started playing again without you and these games.
All the best. I know Im 10 years late but PAX Unplugged will be my first Acq Inc I hope Ive been a massive fan all those years. . Wish you all the best Chris and thank you for such a good time. Time for me to get caught up with Dice Camera Action :D
I could not even focus on the last 10 minutes of this game, Chris leaving is such a punch in the gut. I've been listening and watching him DM for AI for ten years and his story building and great nature will be sorely missed in these games. I want to support the team and keep watching but this is such a hard pill to swallow.
chris perkins the best DM I ever seen. Been playing since 1989 and didnt find him on youtube until 2016. You will be like Sublime to me, something I should have went to see live while they where still there.

:( Right? End of an era. Acq Inc and Perkins were the reasons I got back into D&D 4 years ago. Really, thanks to Perkins and DCA, how I discovered High Rollers and the the Yogscast.
Gonna miss you Perkins. You've made the last decade of watching these nerds very enjoyable. You are a gentleman and a scholar and I'm sad to see you go :( BUT Crawford did a pretty good job!~
OK, they obviously did not watch the previous video the check the details of the previous adventure . . . Jim threw the fireball, Strix healed Viari to 18 (and a half) hp, etc . . . continuity!
Aww Man chris i grew up watching these helped me through alot of tough times and its sad to see you go please come back and play a character with the group sometime
Although Chris leaves us with legendary memories, can we take a moment to reminisce about the good old days by taking note of the remake of the Intellivision over Pat’s right shoulder on the back shelf. I love my era...
I'm sad to see the old guard pass, but I can honestly say I'm interested in seeing what the new guard brings. And I mean, hell, at least we can all be glad it wasn't Mearls.
Really weird choice, and I'm starving for more context here. I can't say that it didn't feel like this was coming. The last few live shows, Chris would open with an opining comment like "I feel like we keep getting older but they (the audience) stay the same age" or "It's hard to believe that it's been 10 years". The multiverse jump to the WOTC offices in Renton where they meet Perkins in game at the end of the ToA arch screamed finale. That being said, maybe the right choice would have been to let Perkins wrap up the Acq Inc storyline and retire those characters from regular play. One last epic arch before Omin, Jim, and Viari retire from field work, except for the occasional cameo in DCA or C-Team. Maybe they'd even talk Scott Kurtz into dusting off Binwin's character sheet for one last dance. As it stands, I have no doubt that Jeremy Crawford is a talented DM who could outmaneuver Phoenix and Mercer with one hand behind his back. Regardless, I think it's folly to think that the feeling of Acq Inc can be maintained when the person who plays every supporting character and narrates the story changes, but I hope they prove me wrong. No matter what happens, it should be said that it's been a blessing having what we have from Acq Inc. I wish Chris the best, and I wish Jeremy the best luck.
Man, that was out of left field. Interesting choice to leave now, rather than at some PAX event where he would have no doubt got a standing ovation and blown the roof off the place.
Holy Crap! Why did Chris....? What?!?! He's AI's DM, why the change? I wish him well in whatever he's doing. I mean wow 11 years I've been so attached to him. Well done sir. Well done.
I like this session just because everyone is having fun and seems really relaxed - I would guess since they aren't playing in front of a huge crowd Also, Chris's voice for that tiefling sounds EXACTLY like Marcus Brody from Indiana Jones
Chris, you made me love DnD ... AcqInc made me love DnD and inspired me to play. Enjoy ... life, I guess? And all your future projects. Also, welcome to the Jeremy ... can't wait what his energy will bring.
I would love to know what Chris was using as an hp counter behind the screen. It seemed like he was clicking something that looked almost like a combination lock.
I used to watch aq inc in wonder at Chris's dming wizardry, he heavily influenced me, I always take mental notes from how he approaches stuff, I never managed to get into the waffle crew, apperantly I cant watch online plays, so now this is sort of a goodbye for me to this chapter in my DMing. We'll miss you Chris. Edit: As long as Pat is still there Im in.
why is Chris leaving? i just got into D&D and these guys are a huge part of it. Not trying to say anything bad about Jeremy. But out of all the people ive watched no one comes close to Chris Perkins. :(
Farewell Chris, and hello Jeremy!! Loved Chris in Acq Inc, still love him in DCA, but Jeremy’s a wonderful choice to succeed him. Looking forward to more from him & AI!!
So incredibly sad to hear Chris is leaving AI. Like many others, AI motivated me to find a local game and get in to D&D. His eccentric personality & humour will be sorely missed.
Rewatching this, trying to give the new dm another shot, I realize a couple things. One, his wordy borderline railroad style just doesnt jive with me. And two, I feel like when Perkins decided to retire, instead of picking up his homebrew stuff WotC decided to use this oppurtunity to just push their products with the whole Ravnica thing. Neither of those sit well with me, but Ill give this guy a second chance, maybe hell grow on me.

I admire how Jeremy Crawford describes magical effects very much like how the late great Carl Sagan described the wonders of the cosmos! 🤩😍🤩
Sounded like the Interstellar worm hole singularity scene
As with many of the other comments, a tear came to my eye at hearing of chris's departure. He was the DM that brought me back to the game, and showed me the true potential of tabletop RPGs. I still suggest those early podcasts to anyone interested in learning about d&d. I can certainly say it was chris and AI that convinced me to spend tons of money on rule books, modules and lore books. Wizards and PA should be very proud of the work they've done. We'll miss you Chris and good luck! Still staying on for DCA right?
I hope they had a freshly baked pies party for Chris after the show! XD
He deserves a place in the D&D mithology, his 11 year long campaign will never stop teaching me new nuances to be a better DM and person. It was super sad to see him go but this makes it amazing to be alive.
Now, I love the style Jeremy Crawford brought uncerimoniously like a blizzard. He's got the good stuff and I hope to see more of it!
So...
Might we see Chris as a player in a future Acq Inc game?
I would pay money for that
that would be dope
I'm pretty sure Jarlaxle is Chris Perkins. If you look at the Dragon+ issue 20 cover for waterdeep dragon heist, I could swear he posed for it. www.dragonmag.com/5.0/#!/article/116511/103638140?loadFresh=true&title=20_01_Issue%2020%20Cover
@@cosmicmuffet1053 nice catch
While this is a huge change, I think this breaths some life and a new dynamic into the Acq Inc Brand. He's not gone, he's not forgotten. He'll cameo again at some point. And with the change of venue, I think this is the perfect opportunity to throw caution to the wind and see how another Master can handle their improvisational nuttery and bullshit. I am sad, but excited at the same time! LETS ACQUIRE THINGS, BOYS!

Perkins - thanks for every idea i stole from you. You are amazing DM, gonna miss you so hard!
I wish Chris the best of luck, wherever his own adventures might take him
The End of an era, makes me little bit sad, it want be the same anymore, but change is part of life.

The Great Chris Perkins!
Starting this video: Super excited! Can't wait for Saturday! This is going to be great!
Ending of video: No more Chris :'( not as happy about Saturday now :-(
yeah this was so sudden. :( damn! just damn!
Thank you Chris Perkins for getting me into D&D. I will always be a fan!
Check Neal from Rollplay.
It's the end of an era, a literal decade
I personally feel that once Binwin left things felt just off, it's been obvious that he was prepping for replacements BUT still Perkins shoes are huge. I don't think they can be filled but I hope.
John Spencer it was off for awhile but I think they found a great replacement in Holly.
Trust in jeremey. If i remember he is the rules director for dungeons and dragons. If any one can put a hell of a story together and make it work itll be jeremy
It's weird to see the PA studio table at this angle.
Thank you Chris Perkins for 11 years of fun. I'm sure Jeremy will do a great job and I'm stoked for the next live game.
Famous last words. I felt the same, but time showed us that the new DM sucked.
He never shuts up.
Pax Unplugged in 3 days, so cheers for 2 new AI events in such a short period of time, glad they finish up the Apothecary story early. Can't wait to see what's in store for Pax. Jeremy Crawford is the lead D&D rules creator at Wotc so I'm excited to see his DM style.
was about to comment the same thing
Rip Chris Perkins. dmigorgon head 1, DM to the stars. God among players. Holder of iPad. You will be sorely missed
Now there'll be enough DMs to run next year's team-up of the A-Team, the C-Team and the Waffle Crew.
This is the grandest outcome and the best way to look at it!
And then we just need some time-travel buggery, and for Strix and Omin to be conveniently predisposed, and we can have Birdcage in the mix as well
Thank you Chris for DMing Acquisitions Inc! Super good time. Hello Jeremy, welcome and eager to see you DM this team of intrepid heroes!
Damn, you know these opening sequences are the best part of their game. I really wish they'd animate whole sessions.
Sooooooo great you're back to the table! I love the live shows but I miss the table games!!! Please bring these back! I know y'all are super busy but I need more OG AI with mah C Team!!!
Dear Mr Perkins. Thank you
Let me add to the public outcry: Chris!!!!!
I want to support the team and keep watching but this is such a hard pill to swallow.
he was at 21 hit points at the end of the last one jfyi
chris perkins the best DM I ever seen. Been playing since 1989 and didnt find him on youtube until 2016. You will be like Sublime to me, something I should have went to see live while they where still there.
( 1:49:38 ) ...... I knew something was going to happen, I just knew it.... From one Dungeon Master Chris to another, you've done well. Thank you for getting me back into D&D after my dry-spells
1:04:07 I figured it out The phrase is "Terrifying Villain enraged just get out of the shop"
Oh man... :(
i know that feel Mark
I bet Holly is so pissed that she didn't go too considering the destination :D
You are a gentleman and a scholar and I'm sad to see you go :(
BUT
Crawford did a pretty good job!~
Chris Perkins you are one of the best DMs at rolling with Patrick’s requests!
Perfect timing! I started binge listening to the show since PAX West 2018 and just caught up a couple days ago!
OK, they obviously did not watch the previous video the check the details of the previous adventure . . . Jim threw the fireball, Strix healed Viari to 18 (and a half) hp, etc . . . continuity!
I miss Chris Perkins... And Holly. And DCA.
I enjoy watching Chris Perkins just have so much fun DM'ing for these awesome people. However I do think the new DM is doing an amazing job.
Aww Man chris i grew up watching these helped me through alot of tough times and its sad to see you go please come back and play a character with the group sometime
Thank you Chris; thank you for this amazing era. Let's see what happens next.
WAIT! Is Chris not doing any more Acq. Inc.? Say it ain't so...
57:58 I love these two so much
Although Chris leaves us with legendary memories, can we take a moment to reminisce about the good old days by taking note of the remake of the Intellivision over Pat’s right shoulder on the back shelf. I love my era...
Pat is a gift from god
The intro was better than gold
Hail the great Perkins, Master of all Dungeon Masters
I'm sad to see the old guard pass, but I can honestly say I'm interested in seeing what the new guard brings. And I mean, hell, at least we can all be glad it wasn't Mearls.
i mean mearl's style is closer to Chris's rather then Crawford's I wrote the rules stick to them style.
It is so fffen funny to see this amazing this mini house is and how ready Perkins was for that last live game
Man, that was out of left field. Interesting choice to leave now, rather than at some PAX event where he would have no doubt got a standing ovation and blown the roof off the place.
It's great to have Chris Perkins DMing again! We missed you!
Holy Crap! Why did Chris....? What?!?! He's AI's DM, why the change? I wish him well in whatever he's doing. I mean wow 11 years I've been so attached to him. Well done sir. Well done.
Prescott Luque That’s your fault dude, there are literally always spoilers in comments.
I can't find @#$% on the internet as to why, either. Was there some kind of announcement that I missed?
Right?! I was not ready for this.
11 years is inaccurate.... maybe 11 PAX games....
@@tazzeightsixfour9721 No, the first game was in 2008.
GREEN FLAME!!!!!!!!
I like this session just because everyone is having fun and seems really relaxed - I would guess since they aren't playing in front of a huge crowd
Also, Chris's voice for that tiefling sounds EXACTLY like Marcus Brody from Indiana Jones
Chris, you made me love DnD ... AcqInc made me love DnD and inspired me to play. Enjoy ... life, I guess? And all your future projects.
Also, welcome to the Jeremy ... can't wait what his energy will bring.
"... Your hair, if you have it, begins to stand on end."
2 sentences in and Jeremy's already roasting Omin...
Jerry looking at the camera while Pat is pulling his bullshit is gold.
I would love to know what Chris was using as an hp counter behind the screen. It seemed like he was clicking something that looked almost like a combination lock.
First Aofel
Then Binwin
Now Chris
Big sad, even 3 years later...
Edit: Now Jim is gone too. Damn...
Edit: As long as Pat is still there Im in.
oh hell yes! Best Cyber Monday deal yet!
Good night my sweet Perkins. I am grateful that the story continues on. Good luck new guy.
I want TFS At The Table and Acq Inc to do a crossover. Or maybe have Lani from TFS guest star in an Acq Inc session
What about Monty taking over for Chris?
why is Chris leaving? i just got into D&D and these guys are a huge part of it.
Its been so long. I am so happy this came out today. Screw going to bed early.
Oh man, Jeremy is going to be good. Gonna feel different, but I hope this might also mean more Acq Inc. RAVNICA!!
1 minute into this and it sound like your best action was a DWARFinaBOX!!
"Because thats what my party does all the time".
Strix. Every Hour since joining the Acq Inc table
Having seen Crawford’s live Unplugged game, I think AI’s in safe hands.
