I am a 66 year old british expat living in Davao with a filipina partner. I am a world traveller, if you are not the Philippines will be a shock for you. There are many types of women in the world it is up to you who you date. My thoughts if you find a partner that you have lived with for a long period of time and that you love your partner then find a place that you can live happily together. The world is a big place. Visit places in the world together for a long period of time. Then live where you are happy together.

I am a british man living in Davao with a filipina partner. Where I live shopping malls, Banks, markets are close by just a few minutes ride away on our Aerox scooter. As to ferries they go to Samal island. The immigration department is in the city. The airport is the best place to use to travel to other islands and if booked ahead they are cheap.

I have lived here in Davao for almost 3 years now and Ne for 28 years so she definitely knows her way around, A couple of things I also like are they have a decent 911 system & the ambulances have paramedics on them. Trash burning is illegal so there is less pollution. Also, traffic laws are enforced. I rarely see other expats here other than at the pool at our condo.

Hello, im one of your new subscribers. I just want to react regarding ferry, its bec of the location. Cdo is right at the top of mindanao so it is so much practical going to cebu by boat but davao city is on the bottom part of mindanao, it will take 3 days by boat going to manila. Second because of malls right on the same street, look how horrible the traffic in cdo. By the way, i was born in cdo then went to college in davao that is why i was able to see the difference of the two cities. Cheers mate!

Aside from that, Davao City is so huge that u can put Cebu Talisay and Mandaue cities into the Greater Downtown area of Davao City - from Matina, Old downtown, China town, Bajada, Lanang and Agdao.
Basically, those Districts in Davao City are like cebu mandaue and Talisay.

In addition, there are areas in Davao city whereby the Shopping Malls are close to each other such Gmall, VPlaza and Abreeza Ayala are so close-by - walking distance, even.
In Buhangin, GGrand ct gate and NCCC Malls sit right beside each other.
In conclusion, Davao city maybe spread out due to its sheer size, but its Urban districts have Shopping centers that are so close to each other, as well as Colleges or universities that are adjacent to each other, and even hospitals.

If u want a small place with very nice urban plan with less traffic, u should try to go to iloilo city. It has a perfect mix of very nice colonial houses and churches and a clean river that traverses the city. Iloilo just needs to increase its population so few people it will bore u if u are used to being in a big and vibrant cities like cebu and davao. I live here for 4 yrs now and maybe til my retirement but i will definitely go back to davao and retire in samal island.

The reason why Davao doesn't have ferries is because its too far to travel by water than by air or land
If you can see the Map of where Dsvao is situated then you will understand
Port of Davao is also mostly for international cargo not much for domestic cargo and travel because of the location where a ship from Davao will have to make a giant U turn to go other islands like Cebu Bohol etc. Whereas you can ride a Bus to Cagayan de Oro and hop a boat to go the islands I've just mentioned in less time
    Its practical

Hi Gio. My wifes family comes from Davo and normaly we go twice a year to visit them and stay on our small resort on Samal, as you can a bit imagine from my icon. Davao is becomming more and more feel like home in the Philippines. It's a good city, i love it, but is is not a very beautifull one. Nevertehless, Davao offers you erverything you need and has a geat nigthlife if you love music. It's perhaps the savest city in PH. What i miss in Davao, is a nice boulevard longside the ocean. But perhaps the new costalroad bring this feature. And when you go with the farry to Samal, there are plenty of beautifull resyorts and some white beach sites. My concusion is, Davo is not one of the top, but a very good place to live.

Geographically, it would be silly for Davao to try and run a ferry, or to expect such. It sits on the southern shore of the southern most isalnd. A ferry would have to circle the entire island in order to go anywhere else. Just drive to Cagayan De Oro and take a ferry across. Davao, despite bein a MUCH larger population than I care for, is HIGH on my list of potential expatriation destinations.

I am from Australia, so we drive on the other side.. lol, I will have to retrain myself or just cheat, get a scooter and follow the leader in front till I get it sorted in my mind.. hopefully I survive the first day... ;) I am joking.. kinda.. I will be flying into Cebu, might have a look around there for a week or so then I intend to check out Davao to retire..

Great video and information! For a big and a spread out city appears to Look more like a medium city! Cool! Do the buses Allow or Take bicycles!! My mountain bike is a cross-country racing bike Very light! single suspension, that I could use for road-racing 30 to 35 MPH no problem on flat roads! Scary faster on steep downhills, but have good enough brakes! And yes it is a pedal bike ,easily can pickup with two fingers!

The reason why Davao doesn't have a ferry because it's very far from the other island places like Cebu, Bohol camiguin etc. Way back before you have to travel by days from Davao before your reach the island of Cebu by ferries. That's why the people choose of using plane rather than ferries.

What's the purpose of ferries in Davao? Where do you even go? You want to take a ferry from Davao to Cebu? that would take you a month or even longer to reach Cebu. Do you want to go to other cities in Mindanao? Then asked their each city's local government to make a port.

Davao, General Santos Malaybalay better for me than Cebu Dumaguette or other foreigner hotspots 15 min out of town, build a big house on one floor. Plus they have mosques and halal meat which is good for me. Prefer quiet, conservative, less densely populated and less traffic. Better for me.
