Man I almost didn't believe it when I saw the title. How did these two interests of mine collide?!?! Forever preaching to people how deep of an artist Dave really is.
Murph is a beast. In a nod to metronomic efficiency he has surgically removed 100% of his body hair. Talkin zero resistance. He showers by striking a vitruvian man pose in front of a strong fan. No effort wasted. The man.
We were supposed to go to this show but I went to Vegas the next day… and now I’m kicking myself… although I have seen David perform this three different times… it’s always facemelting to watch him work it.. and this one is the best version I’ve seen.
Very cool to see one of my favorite artists sit in with a band that was formed in the same city and year when my parents began dating in college. Was fortunate to catch Warren Haynes play this tune with Dave Matthews Band at the Gorge Ampitheatre back in 2019. Thanks for sharing!
I never cared much for Dave Matthews or his band or his annoying fans, but this is really cool. J Mascis is one of the best guitarists in Rock history.
Dave goes way back to the college circuit before he got big. He used to bring out Everything (e:) back in those days as an opener. They used to tear up MD & VA back in the way early 90’s.
Somebody pinch me. This is fantastic. So what’s next? Doug from Built to Spill and J hitting this together for the 30 minute version with Neil coming in at the end for a 15 minute encore????!!!! So damn good. Thank you 🙏 🙏🙏
There's an indy artist in Connecticut I just discovered that's doing a new Neil Young solo tribute show and it's absolutely amazing how much he sounds like Neil, even on his own original music. Here's his cover of "Tonight's the Night/Cortez the Killer" from the full show performance ("The Loner: The Music of Neil Young") at a small club in Bridgeport, CT recently. See what you think. ua-cam.com/video/uvtYi1OiyPU/v-deo.htmlsi=sjfOgV-yTAXWs0o4
Not embarrassing, Dave Matthews has owned this song for a while, he has the vocal down pretty nicely - I too saw the other & agree with its strength. Jason Isbell is a tough act to follow for sure. What an A/B Test.
@@rgrossi Yeah, Dave has been doing that for a long time. Seeing him and Warren nail it in front of 100K + people at Central Park was one of many amazing moments DMB has given me over the decades.
really? here come the "but so and so did it better..." people. just enjoy the moment. I would say that I have heard DMB do it even better together with Warren Haynes at Central Park in front of 100,000 or so fans. It nice to see Dave come out in support of local bands.
@@themisianosyeah it’s hard to take them seriously when they say Neil Young sucks. I went to my first Farm Aid in 2002 and his solo set was by far the best of the day

same here. I totally understand why people are offput by him but the man can fuckin play
As someone who has seen both bands multiple times, this is absolutely insane to see. Fuck yeah.

He dries himself by t-posing, forcing every drop of water off his body through sheer force of will.
Beautiful

I love this. Fan of both bands, and of course Uncle Neil. Great version. 🥹🤗

Ive seen dave live several times and he never disappointed. Good work dave keep up the good work
this video is just a touch too iconic. do we even as a society deserve this?

So weird to only hear Dave sing this without Warren, lol.
I saw it at Central Park and Randall’s Island, such a treat
@@rgrossi that’s awesome!
Gorge 2011 version was an absolute banger. 🥵

So raw and beautiful.
Dave’s cover with Warren at the Central Park show is one of my favorite tracks of all time. Never thought I’d see him on stage with these guys.

Neil came out with DMB during the 04 vote for change tour at the palace of auburn hills and did Cortez... It was awesome and a complete surprise!
These collabs are unexpected and So cool.
a visceral story. Thanks, Niel. Put it up there with Grace Potter and Joe Satriani's cover
I really wanted to hear J sing this.
He played it with The Fog
AMAZING STUFF💪
Got excited for Built to Spill
Absolutely epic
Totally unexpected but wow! Dave Matthews is absolutely one of the best!

Sludge rock. Fucking awesome!!!!
would love to see Dino play with Evan Dando on acoustic/vocals
This is so cool. Thanks for posting!
Channeling some Neil
Wow
There must be a glitch in the matrix. Dino Jr and mainstream??
J was a heavy influence on a lot of mainstream bands
Nothing wrong with that
UGH ! ! ! !
Who the f are built to spill and J?
Built to spill is an indie rock outfit from the mid 90's and J is short for J Mascis a legendary guitarist well known for helping to create grunge
Sad for you to have to ask that question.
This version is embarrassing compared to when Jason Isbell sat in with DJ in NYC for the same exact song
Built to Spill does it better.
