A powerful magic song that takes you on a journey across the land . This is the greatest song Neil ever made . The guitar leads the way . So poetic, such a Master. We love you 💜 Neil . You are the best !!!!!!!!!
I totally agree with you. It's because it's his passion ; as I see it . And his compassionate for humanity. When I saw him with POTR in 2015 and 2016 , I couldn't believe that he could " get down" with the band. It was killer ! ( And yes we Woodstock hippies are few these days !)
That he offered us the truth in a tv documentation that he believed in Ronald Reagan in the beginning of the 1980's, makes him in my opinon to a strong character, besides his awesome music.
Neil Young et ta musicalité , une osmose pour les sens, une dimension sensorielle, bien au delà de ce morceau. Si la pureté de ta musique est quelque peu diminué par le format (fichier informatique)quel bonheur de t'écouter ,encore et encore .....
I've heard about 30 different versions and even if this was recorded on a cell phone, and it doesn't have Crazy Horse, it's a pretty damn good version of one of Neil's most soulful and dark songs he ever created.
Only 30 mate ... when this guy stood up to sing it was a mystery tour for his backing band ... :_) and we are the benefactors of that spontaneity absolutely ... the thing is that Old Black guitar of his had a mind of its own ... it spoke to him, and he spoke to it ...
Soulful, somber, soothing...simply brilliant song, and best at excessive volume, as I enjoy some of Nature's sweetest leaf! Indeed (hehe), Neil Young's music and cannabis go better together than a peanut butter & jelly sandwhich! Word.
@@melorafoy7109 Go Mr.Willy go! P.s. I think in an interview I saw he gave it up.HOWEVER....I WOULD PUT HIM ON A BILLBOARD AND MAKE HIM THE POSTER CHILD FOR GANGAH ❤
I first heard this song when I was around 17 yrs. old. still in high school. Loved it then. Love it even more now. What a catalogue of music. I'm ten minutes older than dirt now, 413 in dog years, but I am young again for a few moments. This brings back good memories of a simpler and great time in my life. I had a 70' Dodge Challenger with an 8-track that I bought for $1,800.00 bucks. I was Kowalski but my car was Hemi Orange with white interior. Yes, slapstick shifter. Long full head of hair and had to step over the chicks throwing themselves at me. Ah sweet beautiful youth.
Went to the Mansfield show the following night hoping to hear Cortez.... Didn't realize he played it at jones beach. Thanks for posting!!! BTW, Neil refused to call the venue Xfinity Center, slammed Comcast and called it Greatwoods all evening ( it's original name). Legend.
I grew up in Dallas, and we always went to concerts at Starplex Amphitheater. I don't know what they call it these days - it's probably had 3 or 4 names in the 10 years I have been gone. But for me, it will always be called Starplex.
Saw them at "Great Woods" Mansfield back in 94...Neil was wearing combat boots and war dancing every song...best concert of my life...Like a Hurricane Encore ...
First Neil Young song my old band learned and performed. A few years ago I finally finished building my own "Old Black" clone complete with custom wound RC pickups.
Rolling Stone calls it a classic, Cortez the Killer, electric guitar song from 1975’s Zuma Album. All those free days driving the PCH1 through Malibu with Briggs brought about Neil’s best work by far. The whole album is just classic Neil. Barstool Blues and Danger Bird arem’t played enough live by My. Young. Can only hope to see him alive some time soon - nothing like it !!
Great feeling ! totally different than with CH...but still a fascinating angle on the song ..and those guys are very artistic musically and visually... A Ballet of arms..that is touch by grace
jude999 Totally valid. But Neil Young + Crazy Horse is a thing that's in it's own world of awesomeness, never to be achieved by any other group of backing musicians. Let's just revel in the fact that good ol' Neil is still out there, rocking like a man 1/3 his age, and filling hearts with great music.
OH Neil....., I m not gay but i love you so much, i m sure there are little pieces of gold in yr heart, come to Belgium one more time and send me a ticket xxx
Love Neil's music and passion, his politics leave something to be desired, 20/20 hindsight Saint Neil, I'm sure you are holy, LOL look in the mirror....
He came dancing across the water With his galleons and guns Looking for the new world And that palace in the sun. On the shore lay Montezuma With his coca leaves and pearls In his halls he often wandered With the secrets of the worlds. And his subjects gathered 'round him Like the leaves around a tree In their clothes of many colors For the angry gods to see. And the women all were beautiful And the men stood straight and strong They offered life in sacrifice So that others could go on. Hate was just a legend And war was never known The people worked together And they lifted many stones. And they carried them to the flatlands But they died along the way And they built up with their bare hands What we still can't do today. And I know she's living there And she loves me to this day I still can't remember when Or how I lost my way. He came dancing across the water Cortez, Cortez What a killer.
It's a Neil Young concert. If he took a backseat to the other musicians, other than a customary solo, I'd be annoyed since I bought an overpriced ticket to go see him, not someone else. Maybe that's just my feelings, but that's how I feel.
To each their own. Whereas I have always loved Crazy Horse, This band adds a fresh twist that I really enjoy. Crazy Horse is more about the rockin' Neil, and like the International Harvesters, The Promise Of The Real provide great back-up for the more country Neil. I'm happy to see both.
This song is absolutely stupid. Either ole' Neil got really buzzed writing it or hit his head or something. The lyrics are horrible!! Some were sacrificed so others could go on? GOOD GOLLY! they captured thousands of innocents and butchered them in their pagan beliefs as human sacrifices. I love Neil but this song is offensive on some many levels. Not to mention irresponsible to kids who love his music and don't bother to research history
A powerful magic song that takes you on a journey across the land . This is the greatest song Neil ever made . The guitar leads the way . So poetic, such a Master. We love you 💜 Neil . You are the best !!!!!!!!!
He really is one of the most honest and authentic rockers/artists left. Treasure the true hippies while you can. great fit with Lukas & band

Neil, Robin Trower, Eddie Hazel, Gary Moore...all had a gift of letting their hearts sing through the strings. Been a fan since the late 70s...
Neil Young et ta musicalité , une osmose pour les sens, une dimension sensorielle, bien au delà de ce morceau. Si la pureté de ta musique est quelque peu diminué par le format (fichier informatique)quel bonheur de t'écouter ,encore et encore .....
Making some resurgence musically with this band. Absolutely superb. "I got lost" repeated, gave me chills. You got lost In the music Neil. Stunning.
I've heard about 30 different versions and even if this was recorded on a cell phone, and it doesn't have Crazy Horse, it's a pretty damn good version of one of Neil's most soulful and dark songs he ever created.

Thank you very much for this song, exceptional never get tired of hearing her
E eu aqui em pleno 2024 ouvindo essa obra de arte.. É uma preciosidade 💚💫⭐💥🌟
Soulful, somber, soothing...simply brilliant song, and best at excessive volume, as I enjoy some of Nature's sweetest leaf! Indeed (hehe), Neil Young's music and cannabis go better together than a peanut butter & jelly sandwhich! Word.
42 years later i'm always fan. thanks Mr Young Thanks to be their as you are
this is Neil..still playing\signing after 70..many people don't even live to be 70!
People in the music industry tent to have shorter than average life spans. Willie Nelson smokes pot and it hasn't done him much harm.
Awesome comment! He's FOREVER YOUNG!❤SMILE

THOSE WERE THE DAYS 😊
Neil's best slow-burning guitar song.
I truly love Cortez but Neil's best slow burner imo is Danger Bird, the live version from Year Of The Horse. Both amazing songs though amigo.
I like all his music ❤
Always Dug the guitar 🎸 solo on the album version...ZUMA... this is fine too

Mr.Neil YOUNG is his own boss.! ❤
He is in all means A LIVING LEGEND❤
One of my favorite venues....I was born/raised in Windsor Connecticut and went to many shows at Greatwoods
Saw them at "Great Woods" Mansfield back in 94...Neil was wearing combat boots and war dancing every song...best concert of my life...Like a Hurricane Encore ...
excellent taste in music, Joel Warner
First Neil Young song my old band learned and performed. A few years ago I finally finished building my own "Old Black" clone complete with custom wound RC pickups.

Thanks for posting. Ive been a great fan of Neil Young since God im not sure how long. My favorite album was the one with Pocanantas on it.
Insane Gamelan drum ending, Insane. This is not your usual rock n roll, kids.
Man what a show this must have been . I've been a fan since the sixties .
The greatest I have ever seen. The complete musician
timeless great music wear my cans
Neil, please don´t go !
So fucking awesome
Blows my mind.
Listening to this encourages me to lay in the hot sun on a sandy beach with a case of very cold beer. Light waves gently lapping the shore.

Thanx, Rock On Big Man
Great feeling ! totally different than with CH...but still a fascinating angle on the song ..and those guys are very artistic musically and visually... A Ballet of arms..that is touch by grace
and his voice nailed it that night!
Can't imagine studio versions better than these concert shows.
Fucking amazing! Rock on Neil you old hippie.
The autostabilize is great, makes me think I'm trippin' just like the old days. Just need a few rainbows and we're there!
we didn't get that jam in Mila-wau-KAY this past summer, but an 11min Down By The River instead. Thanks for the upload! \m/\m/
Neil still the fuckin' best
neils playing never gets old still a young buck..
tony mcevoy
Young. He is young. Lives up to his name.
How lucky can one be to see NY !
Neil Young rocks man
Fun song! Great to listen to be it's like a Fractured Fairy Tale in it's historical accuracy
The warp and reverb :-)
awesome Neil
Slow-psychedelic version, hope 't appears in the new "Earth" album
It's a riff to get lost in.
You start seeing the hazy armada...
Captivating !!
ending is so cool. that chaos going on and the heavy chords. It means something probably. Probably death
Excellent 💥
simply genius. . . . . .
❤️ Neil
There is just a groove that is not quite right without the Horse.

Glad they didnt duplicate the horses version, but pretty good capture of the feeling. I bet remainder of CH and willie are proud!
neil young playing with some kids , so cool
Two thumbs up!!
not the Horse, right...but it blows my mind...
No comments. Supersonic .

WOW!❤️
Neil Young is amazing
Whooooooooosh ! What can I say?
Well, it's awfully nice of them to play like that for us.
At first i thought the other guitarist with the lp is Klinghoffer from the chilis.
For you Michael
Please love this song
3:53 hear him coming, cortez cortez
Does anyone know what an where El Cortez is at
tnks neil...88's
Still playing blackie ❤️
One question: musicians are not Crazy Horse, does anybody who they are?? Thanks.
Promise Of The Real
Thanks a lot
Which includes two of Willie Nelsons sons.
"Hate was just a Legend"....
OH Neil....., I m not gay but i love you so much, i m sure there are little pieces of gold in yr heart, come to Belgium one more time and send me a ticket xxx
Hernán Cortés,heroe.
I lost my way
🎉
yeah, I only had one drink & that autostabilizing already making me feel sick,..
What TRC said!!
man does he need crazy horse.
+sotampacane YES
Yes
Needs Crazy horse
Where did the idea for Cortez the Killer come from?
I think he ate a bad pizza and had a fever that night in high school. Really. Read his biography.
Love Neil's music and passion, his politics leave something to be desired, 20/20 hindsight Saint Neil, I'm sure you are holy, LOL look in the mirror....

Cortez, Cortez
What a killer.
Paint it black notes at 17:05
Holy shit ! What a killer ...
Great song but I wouldn't have minded at all if it were originally an instrumental only. Ha.
Band in aquarium! Neil guitar-whale
Supernatural.
yo go neil
What a killer
I love Neil so much...just hate how selfish he is as a musician. Let the young guys PLAY!
It's a Neil Young concert. If he took a backseat to the other musicians, other than a customary solo, I'd be annoyed since I bought an overpriced ticket to go see him, not someone else. Maybe that's just my feelings, but that's how I feel.
A song for the princess who surely...loves him til this day
neil might as well play by himself. ..very lame backup..really no backup. .where's crazy horse.
Don't sing for Pepsi, don't sing for coke, makes ya look like a joke......
Ain't got no T-bone...got mash potatoes 🥔 😋 ✌
This wasnt the best version. And moving around each other wasnt a good jam.
