Congrats on your find! Perfect starting point to build the car the way you want and have something you can get out and drive and not have to worry about everything being factory correct, numbers matching, low mileage, etc.
Considering the low mileage and completeness of the car and parts, it would be a shame not to bring it back to stock. It is a Shelby so drive it like ya stole it and then fix it as needed. They were meant to be driven and enjoyed; seem reasonable to me!
Thank you for providing this video. It's very entertaining but it also inspires a younger and newer generation of Americans to be passionate about classic cars.

Doesn't hurt to ask, and he would probably be willing to help you save another Mustang cause that is what he does on a regular basis. Same day you posted your video Dennis posted a 69 Shelby save. Look him up for hard to find Shelby parts. Good Luck !!
Jeff is a walking encyclopedia of Shelby's! After all these years, people are still finding these hidden jewels! Back in the early 70's, there was a '65 or '66 Shelby sitting in a backyard in Seymour, IN. I don't know whatever happened to it.
I had a 64&1/2 - 65 289 with 2 4 barrels & 4 speed FastBack (Black/White interior) with the round Enameled Cobra Snake in each Front Fender. I owned it From Sept '68 to 1978-9. Sold it to a 15 year old boy who wanted to restore it, For $100. 2 years ago I stopped where I had Delivered the Mustang, but the People didn't live there anymore. The gentleman that now owned the house in Sussex WI. mentioned he had Bought it 7 years ago and when he first looked at the house he remembered seeing an Old Black Mustang in a Lean To next to the Garage. Didn't pay any attention if it was restored or not.
Congrats Jerry. I REALLY enjoyed watching the parts being uncovered. I feel that since it's not numbers matching, it can be driven a lot more and enjoyed. Jim Wix probably has the original engine. Lol
Congrats Jerry! I think that Shelby has been waiting 41 years for you to come get it! That will be one sharp car back in stock colors! I enjoyed the video Buddy👍
Thanks, kind of feels that way and to think it was still there after all those years. I am still stunned so much that when I see the car in Jason's shop I can hardly believe it is mine. I do need a 428 Police Interceptor engine and a set of those dual fours and the oval air cleaner assembly.
Congratulations sir. I'm 48 right now and my dream is to own a 63-7 Corvette. I also want a 70 chevelle. Those dreams have been in my head since I was a little kid. I'm happy yours has come true and I hope you keep us updated.

I often wonder, what happens to these old cars after restoration, when its owner passes on? All the pride of working on it, and being the first one to take it for a drive must be something most of us will never feel. I've loved these old Mustangs as much as the next guy, and had a buddy that's owned many back in the '70's, always fastbacks, and always 4 speeds. Haven't seen him in years, but my bet is he still has a Mustang of some kind! Myself, in my youth where Chevy's, as at 17 I bought my first car, which was a nice running '57 Chev Bel Air, 283 automatic, and I have a ton of memories with that car. After that I had a '67 Chevy II, 327 4 speed, I paid $1,500. for, and wish I had kept of course, knowing what they go for now! In the end though, never having had a fastback Mustang, they still grab my attention faster than any other car, and will see them in car shows only unfortunately. I just hope those that have them, truly realize just how fortunate it is to own one!

I am from Nebraska and when I was young there were barn finds all across the state and the 60's muscle cars were ticket some had been wrecked, some had been put in storage from family members and some were it was my son's car he was killed in Vietnam and so on but once the the old became collectibles and drove the price up people flocked to Nebraska to scoop up the treasures. Not many left there anymore.
As a young man, I owned a 1976 Chevrolet NOVA SS with a small block 400... It was white with red racing stripes and red interior... I miss that car and I regret selling it... I had 3 jobs to buy it and rebuild the engine, transmission and rear end... Lost a couple of girlfriends because I spent more time and money on the car rather than on the ladies...!!!! I love these old cars... My dad bought a Ford Fairlane for $400 in the late 70's , wrecked it and sold it for $400.. that Ford Fairlane was supposed to be my car when I got my driver's license... Unfortunately I never got it... I remember it looked similar to a Mach 1 and that's why I loved that Ford Fairlane...

WOW. Plaza Fiber Glass. That is a shocker, supplying parts to Ford. In the 1970's I worked for Mack Truck Canada. During that time we brought on Plaza Fiberglass as a supplier, to make hoods. My dad had a Chev Vega with rusted out front fenders. I talked to the owners about making a left and right fenders. No Problem. Within a short period of time I was the proud owner of two Plaza Fiberglass fenders, in primer. Brought a can of paint and on the afternoon shift, the fenders were painted. A week later the fenders were on the car. My dad was thrilled.🦊

Considering the low mileage and completeness of the car and parts, it would be a shame not to bring it back to stock. It is a Shelby so drive it like ya stole it and then fix it as needed. They were meant to be driven and enjoyed; seem reasonable to me!
Congratulations Jerry! I can feel your excitement. Keep us posted on the progress!
Thank you for providing this video. It's very entertaining but it also inspires a younger and newer generation of Americans to be passionate about classic cars.
This is my intent, to transmit the joy of old cars. I urge people to contact me with such cars and history. I pay finder's fees. Email (jerryheasley@gmail.com) or call 806-236-3681.
"no wind, no draft, i still don't know what made that door slam" 😂🤣😆😂🤣😆
The spirit of the ‘Stang?
So cool. I’m glad to see this car go to someone who really wanted it. I hope it comes back and is loved and enjoyed.
I'm so happy for you, all these years documenting other peoples dreams coming true and it's finally your turn.
I also agree with the other commenters who want to see a series following the restoration of your dream car.
That was his plan (to video the restoration) the entire time
I want one before I die. When I was in second grade my sister had a boyfriend had a 67 I can still hear and feel the rumble of that beautiful beast omg
Jerry, you deserve this . For showing all these videos of "barn finds" I'm very happy for you. Thanks for the videos!!.
Yeah, but except for Dan and the owners, I would not have this car. Through the years, people with cars seem to call the people in the video (or magazine article) instead of me. I wish they would call me sometimes. My number and email is on the channel page. 806-236-3681 and jerryheasley@gmail.com
@@thewriter2549 if I ever come across something for ya,, ill definitely get in contact with ya. I'm always looking. Those guys sure know there stuff on those Shelby's!!.
@@joshhuffine4522 Thanks Josh
Great to see another one saved! Congrats on the car Jerry! Please keep us updated on the restoration progress.
That's the plan!
Congratulations Jerry on the new to you wheels. I know you know of Dennis Collins & he has many parts for all kinds of Shelbys that he might just help you with. Doesn't hurt to ask, and he would probably be willing to help you save another Mustang cause that is what he does on a regular basis. Same day you posted your video Dennis posted a 69 Shelby save. Look him up for hard to find Shelby parts. Good Luck !!
That Collins guy would want too much, there is a guy in Adrain Mo that has old camaro & mustang stuff 4 cheap
This was the one my dad was going to buy but it was gone before we got there. Nice to see it will finally be restored.
We need to see a series of videos as the restoration progresses. Happy for you Jerry.
Considering fastbacks didn't come out til 65, a 64 1/2 is rare.
Congrats, Jerry. I absolutely love watching your videos. A project car series would be something I would definitely watch!
thanks, and we jumped right on this resto, already on the rotisserie, and you will see
As long as its not jeff
Congratulations! What an awesome find. I hope you’ll be sharing the restoration process. Looking forward to following its progress.
I am sharing, yes, video on the way, I am thinking in a series as they get done
Congrats Jerry. I REALLY enjoyed watching the parts being uncovered. I feel that since it's not numbers matching, it can be driven a lot more and enjoyed. Jim Wix probably has the original engine. Lol
I agree completely! But then, I would probably drive an original numbers car and to heck with worrying about the price.
That’s pretty awesome.
Red…..check
Four speed…..check
Inbound headlights…check!!!!
I love it!!!!
@@thewriter2549 Well Great find and good luck on the restoration! Im sure the parts will turn up for that car👍
Man! This is a deep, forensic project. It's a real time, full size Revell model kit. Have fun.
Man I'm so happy for you I'm glad you found you 1
Thanks, it came out of the blue. I was completely surprised. Now we have a project car for more videos, all very exciting.
Congratulations sir. I'm 48 right now and my dream is to own a 63-7 Corvette. I also want a 70 chevelle. Those dreams have been in my head since I was a little kid. I'm happy yours has come true and I hope you keep us updated.
That's a dream that can come true. Send me an email. I'll star it and let's see.
Congrats on the Shelby find Jerry.
Thanks 👍
Really cool to see a guy who is so well versed on something like this. Dude really knows his stuff.
Very cool! Love your channel since the stories and the cars are so cool. I grew up in the muscle era and my dad was a salesman at a Buick dealer so I got to see as a kid a Stage 1 GSX, a 70 Superbird and a 62 Skylark. So cheers and keep the stories coming!
Thanks Chris
I'm not into Mustangs, but watch for the stories. I'm a truck guy though and that GMC cabover is sweet!
Congratulations on getting the Unicorn!!! Looking forward to following along the journey of getting it back on the streets! Very cool stuff Jerry. It's great to have friends that share an incredible passion for these cars - and even better when they help do things like this!
Yes, and when a friend gives a friend the opportunity to buy a car like this. That is the fact that if I could make the resolution of this story would fascinate to the maximum. Maybe the story doesn't know until something happens at the end to reveal it.
@@thewriter2549 Dennis Collins may have some
@@buffdoc46 I got a few parts from viewers
@Jerry Heasley that's fantastic, really look forward to the restoration process. I bet you still wake up pumped every day.
I love watching Jeff in action! Congratulations! Looks like a fun project. It will be an awesome day when the brothers can experience driving this Shelby!
You got that right!
Amazing, I love Ratt‼️
Jerry, Congrats on your "New" Shelby! 👍
Another Shelby barn find owner too that found his '66 Paxton Hertz car in '76! When completed, "drive it like you stole it"!😀
Mr. Shelby is somewhere smiling.
Congrats Jerry! I realize it will likely be a long drawn out process to find all the parts, and build her to spec, but please document the build for us devoted fans. On second thought, you're well know in the circle so have a lot of connections, and this build may not take as long as it otherwise would, lets hope that's the case for you Jerry! 😁😎🎄🎅👍✌
Yeah, already had friends in the hobby helping. Still looking for the dual four carb's and the Cobra oval air cleaner assembly, 428 P.I. engine, 1967 4-speed Top Loader for big block, some fiberglass pieces, and so on.
@@thewriter2549 I hope the search will be a short one. Maybe do a vlog letting us know how rare, and difficult to locate some of these parts are. Can't wait for the first rebuild vlog, cheers Jerry! 👍✌
Wonderful
That single wheel peel was not impressive
For 500 bucks I'm putting a Track Lok in mine.
Cobra love at its finest Jerry word of advice has long as you are working on the car try to do whatever one thing every 3 or 4 days so the build won't get stalled out one friend of mine is almost done with the Camaro and I sold another friend to Trans Am about 5 years ago and he hasn't done anything with it it's sitting outside in his yard right now stalled out I told my buddy with the Camaro just every few days to one thing and you could sleep good at night great story I have a 93 Cobra I bought brand new with 93 36,000 MI
Save the classics!!
Congratulations Jerry! I love watching your stories. So glad you found and purchased your dream car.
Anybody want to take a guess how much he bought the car for?
I live in globe Az and I remember for years seeing a GT 500, Green, on the reservation I would pass when I went fishing at Takalai lake
My dad didnt let me drive his Shelby when i turned 16. 😢..thank you pop..Week 4 of it restoration now..
Jerry, I forwarded this to a good friend of mine. He's a former GT-350 owner and presently has a fully restored Tiger. Andy Walker is his name if you know him. Incredible find, I drooled all over my keyboard watching it! Carl (retired Sunbeam Alpine and Lotus 61 racer)
Hey thanks, Carl. I wanted one of these for so long. I wanted to share the thrill with everybody, same for restoration.
The way I see it the 1967 Shelby GT-500 when they were new or fully restored may be the most perfect vehicle ever created.
Not sure but I wouldn’t wanna live on the difference between it and a’63 250 Ferrari GTO. Both gorgeous,
Wanna see her when she's finished!!!!!! Congrats on getting that awesome dream car!
Thanks Doug.
Happy for you Jerry! Would just love it if you gave the occasional update with it being restored. Thanks
I plan to, and already have video on work up to putting on rotisserie.
@@thewriter2549 Hey Jerry I am curious, what got you hooked on the Shelby Mustangs? I can tell you that I got hooked on Mustangs because both my older brothers had them when I was around 10 years old and when I was in high school I had a 68 S code GT fastback and a 68 T code coupe. Have two 68 coupes now and have many over the years.
Im not a Ford guy but I understand your passion for cars. I love seeing a rare classic in good loving hands I know you are going to do it right . Congratulations and keep us posted on the progress. Thanks for sharing your dream with us.
Thanks Mitchell, will do my best.
Incredible find with incredible people. Please keep us updated on the restoration!
Awesome video footage. Retired mechanic, loved the parts being found upstairs. For me it was similar to heading to the junkyard and finding the year and color car I needed parts from. Like hitting the jackpot. Thanks for the adventure!
Cool, thanks
Looking forward seeing how your dream project progresses. This Shelby going to a good home.
you weren't kidding! this is amazing, thanks Jerry!
Ratt, out of the cellar Is a great album, fits the car like a glove
Congrats Jerry! I hope we get to follow the process of its restoration. One day I hope to be in your shoes and purchase my own Shelby (Mustang)!
who knew how special these old pony cars would be 50 plus years later, just love this stuff, shelbys just are so cool,
Wish I could find my 1979 Z-28. It was factory ordered. 350 V-8, 4 speed, Aluminum wheels, Positraction rear end...Cheers to the ones that find those great old cars...
Congratulations Jerry if any one deserves this car it's you so happy to see this fine car go to you keep every one updated on the restore it will be the best .thanks Jerry on all your adventures
Thanks 👍 I have to admit this is so fun and I am more motivated to do restoration follow up's seeing a car go together that I own? Owning this car has still not fully sunk in.
@@thewriter2549 you have got the team to help you with it best group in the world on Shelby mustangs .
Dry storage. Doesn’t often happen up here in Michigan, tin worm is epidemic
Congratulations Jerry! Enjoy the build!
Thanks, will do!
Men doing what they love. We should all be so lucky!
You sir are a very very wonderful human being. People with values, integrity, and considerate are in short supply these days. For you to even consider, yet you flat out offered to let them drive something that their father drive and something that they've wanted to drive almost their entire life is something that money can't buy and no man can take away.
I have a great deal of trust in car people, meaning car enthusiasts, which these two brothers are.
Wow wow wow.. Great find team ..Car of my dreams and being from Australia i cant imagine ever actually owning one, let alone seeing one restored to its its full potential can't wait to see the final outcome..I cant wait for future updates..
Yes but as a consolation you have some very rapid Ford V8 touring car replicas and utes to play with. You also have the best football on the planet down there, been a fan for nearly 50 years. Can’t even watch the NFL (No Fun League) anymore. Best wishes from the US.
Congratulations! The thrill of the hunt! So cool you could gather up the A Team to help.
I know where there’s a “69 Boss 429 #’s matching in maroon! Guys like 88 years old… Car is all together and complete! Covered in piles of blankets and boxes
I would do a story on that if given half a chance. Send me an email? jerryheasley@gmail.com
