It's been one full year since I shaved off my dreadlocks. For the past twelve months I have not cut, dyed, bleached or used heat styling tools on my hair, and in this video I share how long it has grown during that time. I measure the growth, answer some questions and take you along for my first haircut. Stay tuned until the end; I share a montage of photographs of my regrowth over the past 365 days.

Beautiful quote at the end of your video, Rebecca. Thanks for taking us on your hair journey this past year. My favorite hair phase of yours was week 12. You seemed, at least to me, to really embody your personality best in that phase (at least on video:) Cheers to another year of growth in all ways!
I think you have looked beautiful and elegant every step of the way! I love my shaved head, I redo it every five or six weeks and have for a couple years now! I feel like my hair being less of an issue has helped me to bring out more of my inner me, finally, at 56! I think I would go crazy trying to grow it out, so I admire you for that!
That is the same thing I feel every day since I shaved my waist length Dreadlocks off on Mother’s Day this past year. I just wanna cry every time I think about it every time I see someone with Dreadlocks or even a picture of someone with Dreadlocks even right now watching these videos of your old pictures I am so so so sad.
Give yourself credit will you, you absolutely rocked short hair. I like it from 10 ish weeks on.
That you!! ❤️🤗
I grew my hair out after losing it from chemotherapy and I leaned into the pixie. I just kept cutting the back short while the front grew out and it was actually kinda fun to play with all the funky pixie styles. I would highly recommend that route to anyone growing out a shaved head!
Your natural color is so beautiful! Reminds me of the “safe and sound” video from taylor swift, where her hair matches the fallen leaves.
Thank you ❤️
I think short hair suits you because of your hair density and texture. You look great!
You looked so beautiful with your hair shaved and even better with a pixie! Both styles suited your face and it appeared effortless yet super stylish!! I’ll probably shave mine soon...
Honestly, you've looked so radiant at every stage that it's hard to say that any one part was the best or worst. Thanks for being so open about your process and reminding us all that hair is... just hair!
Oh wow what a beautiful compliment! Thank you so much 🤗
So true! Via your pictures you klind of illustrated the quote!
😂I do the same thing to my hair because it grows the same way. But I think you look amazing no matter what hair style you have, you pull it off so well🤗
Thank you 🤗
I loved the shaved haircut so much more ... it was much fresher, more stylish and not boring at all...it suited you so much 😍👍...the haircut is nice too, but you have to style it ...with your little bun, for me it looks a little bit neglected, but tastes are different and that is good....love your videos and your way to live sustainable the best you can. Stay safe 🍀🙋🏻♀️
Love the final product! Thanks for taking us on your journey!!
Thanks for following along ❤️🤗
Honestly you look great with any hairstyle you had, but I really liked week 50, you look like a Greek goddess with that style!
Week 50 with that cute side braid and tiny pony was my favorite, but this bob looks fantastic!
Your finished style in the hairdressers looked beautiful!!!
Thank you!!
I honestly like all the styles of hair during this year. They are are different, but you look natural and pretty in all of them. I also love your natural blonde hair, find it gorgeus!
Thank you so much! 💕✨
Big love for the India Arie quote too! xo
Repulsiastorm YES! Love that quote! ♥
I’m glad you watched all the way to the end to catch it! ❤️✨
@@RebeccaSisson Always! ♥
For one year I believe you have had a great regrowth. Congratulations.
My hair is cut literally how your hair is grown out. My hairdresser said it’s a wolf cut. I can’t believe it’s been a year since you shaved your head! Also I love your videos but I always have to put my volume way up. Idk maybe it’s just me?
Some people say they have that problem, and some say it’s too loud?! I just ordered (another!) new mic 🤞
Good Job! You did it! You made it a whole year! I really like quite a few of those styles! A few years ago I got brave and bleached and cut my hair. It was short but not shaved. Everyone hated it. haha! But like you said about shaving your head-it was an experience I wanted to try. I am not my hair. ;)
You can’t hear me but I’m saying wow 😳 your hair has grown so fast
I like it when you braid the front...better than the Pebbles ponytail. ;) It looks pretty good at all stages. ♥ I would not colour it again. Your hair colour is lovely, with so many natural streaks. It's healthier to leave it natural anyway. I'm enjoying your journey. :) ♥
Thank you! I like the braid too, I’m just too lazy to do it some days 😂
@@RebeccaSisson I hear ya! ;)
The haircut looks great! You look so gorgeous in the picture with the long hair. I definitely think you should aim for that after you grow out the bob.
What a journey, nicely put together :) I found the pixie cut length quite cute. Ând I think the bob option was a great choice!
The quote at end is so wholesome 😌💜
I loved the faux hawk. I also like the picture you inserted of you with long hair.
Thank you! I loved that long hair too. It was annoying to take care of but so fun!
You are such a beautiful woman, Rebecca, inside and out. You can definitely rock any look from buzzed to long hair, but I LOVE your new haircut!
It looks fine the way it is
You look great with very short hair!
I liked your short hair better then longer hair after haircut; It looked more interesting and cool short. Very nice video, thank you!
Really turned out very beautiful! I grow my hair too and you are my inspiration.
Cute haircut. Much better. Cuter without the pull back with a band.
This is SO helpful, I'm in the same exact boat 6+ months after a shaggy pixie cut!
Your head shave video was the first video of yours I watched, I cannot believe that was a year ago and how inspirational I have found you since.
Personally I think you’re hair looked best between shaving and week 17, the shaved and pixie styles suit you so well, they looked fresh and young, saying that you are a very beautiful woman and any hair style will look good and you should have what makes you most comfortable.
Thank you for your vlogs.
Week 26, 40, 42 was funny but definitely I love your dreadlocks! I want to do it on my hair but never had the courage.
So beautiful. Your hair and your message 💗💗
I recommend buzzing if you’ve been wanting to. It’s the best 😂
Love you and miss you! Beautiful inside and out 🥰
I LOVE my hibar. So far I I have tried the moisturize and the maintain ones. I definitely like the moisturize one better. I like the smell a lot better and seems a little more gentle.
I think your hair looked good all year long. You're a beautiful lady!
I stopped shaving the sides of my hair in October and the process of growing out only those parts while the rest is long is like a torture. I can't wear a ponytail anymore because it looks sooo weird 😢
Looks pretty
rice water, google it how to make it yourself- makes hair grow faster and stronger 😊 Maybe you like to make an experiment video about it? Quote: Using rice water on the hair dates back to the Heian period in Japan: Court ladies had floor-length-hair called suberakashi. Each of these women is said to have combed their hair each day using rinse water made from the washing of rice, known as Yu‐Su‐Ru, which may have contributed to their stunning lengths.
Wow! Nice to know. I have a male relative who has lost some hair. Will this help? Tfs🤍
It looks so good!!!!
It's incredible how adorable & sweet you are... You look even prettier than before!!!
Your hair looks so good 😊
I LOVE the cut!! I can’t wait to get to that length! I’m only 7 months in 😭
Very cute
I love them all ❤️
You have a really nice natural hair colour :)
Thank you! I have to remind myself of that. I always wish it was blonder.
Week 10 hair I love! Suits you so much! You look wonderful with short hair Rebecca, I think because your face is so striking and feminine.
I also love your jean jacket. Is it thrifted? ❤️❤️💋💋💋
You looked so entirely sexy with the buzz cut rocked it so well but I am loving your new bob so chic on you! I have been with you on this entire journey and I can’t wait to see your hair keep growing! I cut my hair very short pixie in 2017 and it’s now back longer than ever! Excited to continue this journey with you 😊🙏🏽💙💫🦋✨
My son wants me to grow out my pixie, so here I go. My hair is out of shape. Just tell her to put it in shape for growing out.
That hat looks like an RCMP hat.
Week 12. It makes you look distinct - But go lighter :)
Wow amazing when you look at all these pictures. I like your hair around week 17-22 and then at 47. But who am I to tell you.. if you don't like it short, then you shouldn't have it short ! 5 years ago I went from somewhat darker then yours to ginger. Mayor surprise of course for my family and friends and now it's more brown. So just do what you like best! Whishing you all the best from Belgium. Warm regards x
Such a good reminder! I love getting feedback from all of you but you’re right...ultimately it’s my hair!
If I was so beautifull with the short hair. Dag 1 I would cut my long hair of today!
The fact that you look so good with the short hair should be your "trademark"/brand.
I have no idea of how old/young you are....but speeking as a 54 year old (with very long hair) you will look younger for longer with healthy short hair... Iwould have to color my hair to have that short...witch I don't want...but your heir looks perfekt for the short version.
I actually thing that you look more "hygienic" (Clean) and glowing with the short hair.
It’s been a few months since I shaved since September. But my hair is not grown like yours. So I realized it is supposed to grow faster. If it makes you feel better my hair grows slower than yours. Thanks for this video :)
We all go at our own pace I suppose! Good luck with your grow out process 💕
@@RebeccaSisson wow I didn’t think one of my favorite UA-camrs would read my comment and seeing your reply made me so happy! Thank you it means a lot!
I studied Ayurveda. I think it has to do with our digestive “fire” according to Indian ways. If the digestive fire is “different” less or more then our food is not digested as in people like you and I aren’t getting the nutrients from the food that we are eating. I am not hundred percent sure how to make sure the nutrients are absorbed but certain changes do help the fire. Like :
Eating on exact timing.
Eating before sunset like the Jains do.
Not drinking water half an hour after meal.
Not eating cold things like icecream or not drinking cold water
Not mixing cooked meals with raw
Digestive system doesn’t digest well if they are eaten together. Maybe raw goes first.
I avoid shampoo and clean it with natural soap nuts or besan.
Castor oil
These are few things I know and learned from the Himalayan masters I hope it helps.
i shaved my hair in May, and i am also going to grow it out till next year, i am not at the 4th month and still hope itll grow faster XD
Abhi maza aayega na bhidu....
You are so beautiful, inside and out, that I loved your hair at all lengths.
I shaved it a year ago and again this spring
That’s awesome!
Would be cute with a bandanna headband
I thought about it for 1 day then I shaved it all of and i was just 12 so ye
I wonder how your hair feels compared to before? Stronger? Healthier? Any difference? I think bob length is great on you short or longer, but really long hair....i don't know 🤔
Honestly my hair feels exactly the same! I was thinking it might change, but I haven’t noticed anything so far.
I'm on week 8 of growing out my buzzcut. I love buzzed hair on other women but it definitely isn't for me.
Your to hard on ur self . You have a beautiful face and hair. You can try a short hair style and just let it be loose.
Wow a year ! Where’s that time gone 💖🙏🏻💖
right?
@@RebeccaSisson enjoy every second . You and your hair are beautiful
I’m 6 months into a grown out shaved head! I’m a hairstylist, so I can’t help but cut it as it’s growing. I’m working towards a pixie shag now :) loving watching your grow out journey!
you look a bit like Jodie Foster.
I liked the before, I like the after...you look just beautiful. I think it’s your eyes and your mimik and smile, and your woice that makes your beauty ( for me at least). I think you are the kindest person.
Wow, thank you so much! Such a lovely compliment!
Jesus loves you. He died for your sins on the cross. Please repent from unbelief and trust in Jesus Christ today for eternal life. Anyone who rejects Him will go to hell. I don't want that for you. Jesus is coming back soon.
I'm currently growing out my buzz cut, can I ask why you didn't cut it before 12 months? I've seen other women cut it every 10 weeks while growing it out. Just curious 😀
I’m at month 7 of my grow out and it is an absolutely ugly and horrible stage. I don’t think I will shave my head purposely again. I liked the buzz cut and some of the pixie stages but that is it. It was a good learning experience I guess but I could have gone without it and I do regret it. I can’t wait until my hair looks more like yours!
Hi young lady u r really stunning but the buzz cut really let’s ur eyes an smile pop if I may pay honest compliment
I like the buz cut on you but long hair definitely is more you!
CONGRATULATIONS! My 1 year is July 21. I made the same promise to myself to not cut for one year. I had an uber short pixie. YOUR HAIR LOOKS GREAT! (It looked great at every stage, though, it just wasn’t what you wanted. I get that.)
You r looking lovely with the hair like that 🤔
Great new haircut! I loved all your ultra short and short hair lengths. But the most important is that you feel you when you see yourself. And not how someone else thinks how you should look. I remember that with the lengthening of your hair, also your sense of belonging in your own body seemed to return or grow stronger. I’m very happy for you for this new milestone.
I can’t believe that it’s been 1 year already!
Your natural hair colour is lovely and the bob really suits you!
Love your quote at the end!! And your french braid ;) I think the intentional mullet would have been rad, just saying, lol!
Great haircut! A "bob" is so versatile, you will have fun as it grows out. Since your hair texture does not lend itself to natural locking, do you think you will want to dreadlock again with all that silky new growth? I have thick, wavy Brazilian hair and locked in my college days, however, it did end up damaged and although I would love to do it again, I am apprehensive. :-)
From week 10 to 20 and something. You have a perfect shape of head so short hair suits you very well. It gives you a particular young and original look as you are so pretty. Now it’s more ordinary and classic. Short hair brings you what dreadlock did : turning back on you.
It's amazing that you didn't like your hair and I thought you were awesome! You were so beautiful and unique!
I love that you’re showing what slow growing hair looks like after a year. I’m a slow grower too. All the collagen in the world can’t help me.
You looked beautiful in all stages. But I think you should continue to grow it out and play with more styles!
I shaved my hair almost 2 months ago and I can't wait for my hair to grow back!! You are so beautiful, no matter short or long hair! Thank you for this helpful vidéo ! 😘😘🇨🇵
Wow my hair never stood up for some reason I did it in april from no 2 with 4 today
You look great
Your profile is the spitting image of princess Diana! ❤️
I always had wanted to shave my head just once but my Mom would have been pretty disgusted if I had. Now she has passed and the desire to shave it has passed at 61.
I just gave myself a short blunt cut & I love it! Salons aren’t open here yet.
This has been a helpful and realistic take on the grow-out process - thank you! I am 2 months in (not my first buzzcut, nor my first grow out attempt) and I am hoping to go the full distance this time. Usually I can't bear it and cut it all off again within 6 months. I struggle so much during the grow out! It doesn't help that my hair is salt and pepper so always looks better with a sharp cut when it's shorter than shoulder length. Currently researching all manner of scarves and hairbands.
She did a great job. It looks great
two things: 1. grow them- you can always make them shorter :) 2. you can massage castor oil once a week to your scalp, leave it for about an hour (towel or headwrap on) - it may help you to grow stronger hair a bit faster :) well, it worked for me ;)
Great tip, thank you! ❤️
Very good 😌
