- This video takes you through a step-by-step approach to replacing the electrical heating elements on a Truma Combi 4E boiler. The procedure became necessary after the heater failed to provide full heat and hot water while on the electricity setting, but continued to work fine when running on the gas supply. A new Truma boiler can be anything up to £1800 to replace, when only the worn heating elements are required, costing as little as £136 for replacement parts.
The stage-by stage approach shows removal of the unit from under the seating area of a Luna caravan, and access to the heating rods with subsequent removal and replacement.
The major difficulty encountered was the stiffness of the rods within the unit, making extraction a more effort consuming task, however the new rods then slide more easily into the chamber and an electrical resistance reading is taken to ensure no damage has occurred during installation.
We end the video, by re-installing the combi boiler and running a heating check.
I hope this video will be of use to someone out there with the same problem, and helps to save them a penny or two into the bargain!
