Hello Sven, I too had a bit of a job getting the elements out. I edited it out otherwise it would have been a very long video 😂 . Hope your combi is back up and running as it should 👍. Cheers Rob
@@svengalil Ah, I hope all goes well. They should slide in without any issues. Just a note - I had a comment in this section about the gas heating not working after replacing the elements. I suggested trying the reset button next to the wiring connections. I didn’t receive a reply so I don’t know if that cured it. Cheers Rob 👍
Glad you enjoyed my latest ’how to’ tutorial Colin and a huge thumbs up for your compliment 👍. Another happy customer 😂. Hope you’re well and enjoying this hot August weather. We are currently baking in our tin box 🥵. Cheers Rob & Gail 😀
Thanks very much for your compliment Phil 👍. The most awkward part was getting the elements out and it’s a good five hour job but filming it took even longer 😁. Cheers Rob 👍
Hi ya Rob and Gail. Fantastic detail as always Rob, mind you wouldn't expect anything else from you. Brilliant job think this tutorial will help a lot of people. Thanks Rob. Thumbs up thumped 👍 ....Pete and Su....
Cheers very much Pete 👍. Awkward getting the elements out but a satisfying job. It does need a tool making to tap the elements out though. Yes I really hope this video will be of help to others, that would be great. Best wishes to you both, Rob & Gail 😀
Hello Don, Yes it’s surprising how much dust collects on the fans. They should work a bit more efficient now they’ve been cleaned (properly 😂). They’re not easy to get to when the unit is in place. Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers Rob 👍
Thanks so much Rob, we really appreciate your talents! We noticed a huge difference in both the speed of the water heating and the temperature of the water on our recent trip, just convincing Ged we need a winter holiday to fully test the heating now 😉
Hi there Sarah, I’m very pleased to hear the combi is fully operational and firing on all cylinders 😀 just what you need for a winter break. No excuse now Ged 😂 . Happy planning, cheers Rob 👍
Brilliant video, Rob. And one for the books for future reference. You explain and demonstrate everything so clearly that only an idiot could cock it up! That being said, I probably still could! If you could show us all how to disassemble the roof rail and re-seal, that would also be lovely! Lol! Love ALL your videos that you and the Wife make. Looking forward to the next adventure!
Hi there, I always try my best to make my ‘how to’ videos as easy to follow as possible, so thanks very much for your complimentary words 👍. I’m afraid I won’t be re-sealing my roof rail in a hurry 😂 . Sorry to disappoint. Great to know you are a fan of the channel. Our next great adventure won’t be long. Best regards, Rob & Gail 😀

Take care and looking forward to your next trip vlog. Paul and Joanne 👍 PS loved how you cleaned up everything if only all caravan workshops were so conscientious 😅

Yes, next video will be a holiday vlog 😀 All the best to you both, Cheers Rob & Gail
Thank you Mark, To be honest I didn’t know where to start, but after some research I was geared up to tackle it. Sounds like you’re doing a good job keeping your ABI going 👍. Thanks for watching. Cheers Rob 😀
Nice one Rob thats some undertaking well done mate. You did rite by not over tightening the bolts to the elements as the insulation in very brittle in those elements... top marks lol
Thanks for your compliment Paul 👍. Enjoyed doing the job but getting the old elements out was the most awkward bit 😁. Spotted you have a new video out, will be taking a look. Cheers Rob
@@robswiseways5697 they stubborn because of oxide build up.... not sure if you can get a mega long pipe cleaner? But they seem to slide back easy enough so prob not needed
Hi Snack, You’re absolutely right. Why couldn’t they design it so it was serviceable without having to take the whole unit out 🤔, would have made the job a lot easier. Cheers for watching, Rob 👍
What a great video Rob very informative on how to change the elements it seems to be only one of them stops working and watching you do makes it seem easy to do even though it's a bit fiddley to do and how long did it take you from start to finish 😀
Thanks very much for your compliment Paul. Getting the elements out was the most awkward part of the job. The rest was pretty much straight forward. The job should take about 5 hours or so but it took me a lot longer than this due to filming 😂. Thanks for watching and best regards, Rob 👍
Thank you 👍. I’ve seen a few UA-cam videos relating to a reset button at the side of the wiring connections. This may reset the unit, worth a try. Cheers Rob 👍
You’ve beat me to it Rob Hayes but yes I have to agree the Thermo Technica elements are also my choice especially as we now know these fit. Thank you and cheers Rob 👍
Hello Derek, at least during the warmer summer months one element plus gas is better than none. Hope all goes well with the element change. Thanks for your comment, Cheers, Rob 👍
Thank you Barbs. I’m just practically minded 😅. I do a lot of research before tackling a project and I enjoy a challenge. Thanks for watching. Best regards, Rob
It was picked up by our engineer on its annual service, but now it’s replaced we can notice a huge change in the speed of heating the water and its temperature.
Hello Anthony, The water wasn’t reaching the higher temperature usually experienced and it soon became clear one of the elements had failed. Thanks for watching and commenting, Cheers Rob 👍
Hi Graham, Gas safe state touring caravans are out of the scope of The Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998, unless they are hired to members of the public. As can be seen in the video, only the gas connection and flue was disturbed. The gas system pressure may have been tested by now, by an approved caravan service technician. Disconnecting and reconnecting the gas pipe is like changing the gas bottle. The gas bottle locker has a drop out vent to allow for escaping gas. There is also a drop out vent next to the boiler which I didn’t point out. I would always advise to have an approved workshop technician to work on a leisure vehicle. Hope this helps, Cheers Rob 👍
I hope you don’t think I’m being cheeky but I’ve got a wager on with my daughter (she watches your videos too!) We’re trying to guess which of the shires you come from going by your accents. We’re guessing Nottinghamshire or Derbyshire? Or are we completely wrong 🤣🤣
Whoever chose Derbyshire goes straight to the top of the class 😂. Great to know your daughter watches our videos too, even one of my ‘how to’s’ 👍. Thanks both for your support. Regards Rob & Gail 😀
