What is the best time to take a cutting in hot and humid weather ( that's now in southern part of West Bengal ) I am not familiar with the term " second quarter of the day " you mentioned in another video 😎
@@aparnaroy8814 For me day is between 6 am to 6 pm - So between 6am & 9am and 3pm & 6pm; not a good time to disturb the plants - 12noon to 3pm gets too hot hence the cuttings will lose water at a faster rate - And now we are left with just the 'second quarter' between 9 am and 12 noon, the perfect time to procure cuttings 😀🙌😊

really enjoyed your video. I've loved Bougainvillea's since I was a kid in Argentina (We called them Santa Rita). I'm 38 now and I bought one online and it came with the hard woody stem and a couple of branching leaves. Well, the USPS guy left in in my mailbox for a couple of days at 32 degrees. Needless to say, I was left with just the woody stem. I persisted. Watered it and within a couple of weeks, 3 new chutes were growing. I kept at it for another month and decided to move it to a bigger pot. (Rookie mistake). I was careful enough not to disturb the roots and it's been another month and it's still "ok". It has however seemed to have stopped growing. Not only that, but I moved it to a sunny window side and when the sun hits it, the leaves appear soft and droopy. When the sun goes away, the firm up again. Any thoughts on how to keep it growing and what's going on with the sun?

Whatever you did with your newly bought Bougainvillea sets you apart from a lot of people and your plants must be so proud to be under your care, please keep that going and help the environment as much as possible. Please allow me to clarify a few things before I share my assessment- - when you say windowsill, has the Bougainvillea been growing inside the house with only filtered sunlight - how has been the temperature in the area you live in (last 2 months and next 2 months would help) - what is the watering schedule (for instance I water my Bougainvilleas once a week and thoroughly) - how was the soil mix and are drainage holes all unblocked (simply put, excess water just runs out of the pot) Also note, plants tell you what exactly they need, so if the Bougainvillea you have doesn't want to be in the sun, so be it, however that's uncommon because they would grow great foliage but won't produce flowers. So once I have a better understanding of what conditions it has been growing, then only I can share a way forward. Until you are able to share a detailed response in this regard, if there is anything else, please let me know and we can have a discussion. A big thank you for your immediate and lengthy response. Surely will explore and watch your videos. Just yesterday I had my bright pink bougainvillea cutting planted without using any rooting hormone. Still have other colours for experiment using your method. Am not so interested in growing Adenium and Orchid. Other than bougainvillea, I love roses, hydrangea and hibiscus. Peruvian Zinnia, Gomphrena and Marigold occupied my garden for now. It's refreshing to walk at the garden with beautiful flowers blooming. Liked and subscribed to your channel. Happy gardening to you.

@5:50 I think it's river sand and dessert sand that will give us the best results due to the minerals it contains. Never expected gravel would work so great. Thank you Gaurav Sir for the amazing information

As I started the experiment I too was convinced that River sand will certainly outclass everything else, why, because that's what we have been doing and getting great results. But somehow I had this feeling also that Gravel either will fail miserably or supersede every other ingredient and then results shocked me as well. You're always welcome Samay. Very informative vidio, Gaurav Sir. I have done Bougainville cuttings so many times earlier but never used gravels. Your way of explaining is very impressive. In winters or severe summers, i keep my cuttings covered with polythene to maintain humidity n warmth and it always worked. But last time , after one week removing the cover , the well grown cuttings did not survive. What may be the reason ? During their struggling phase, i drenched with humic acid to support but they collapsed.

Well, did you keep the cutting in water for last 2 days or it was just lying 😊?? If it was in water for all this time, there is a 30-40% chance that it will make it and if it was lying just like that, 5-10% chance it would be successful. Nevertheless, I would suggest, please put it in the soil without anymore delay! I wish you luck and energy, may your cutting does the best it can to become a plant. Interesting and good. Do you have any tips for garlic vine flowering? None of mine is flowering, I have two in pots and two on the ground, all planted more than a year ago. This, despite all care.

So if I have to pick a reason for the said Garlic Vines, not flowering (given you got the soil mix, sunlight, and watering on point), they must be all grown from seeds and would take some extra months or years to bloom. About your suggestion, Pumice has 4X the R-value of typical sand or gravel and I can confirm it is a BETTER option. The only condition is this- use pumices only when your plants face extreme high and low temperatures in a year (e.g. here in Dubai we get highs of 50 degrees Celsius and lows of 10 degrees Celsius so a perfect option given the higher R-value). For this experiment and more so for the gravel and river sand, all we need is a friendly construction site. They get all the materials, gravel, river sand, you can get it from there. Or, any nursery would be happy to give it to you for a premium, so whatever suits you. I am in Dubai, and no rivers, but I have a plentiful supply of all the materials used in the video. Information, yes, sure, that's what we all are here for 🙌😊👍 ➽ I live in Dubai and temperatures here range from 14 degrees (+ /- ) Celsius to 41 degrees (+ /-) Clesius. This particular experiment was during the months when temperatures were between 22 degrees Celsius and 35 degrees Celsius ➽ And if you want 100% results, please start the cuttings in the soil when the temperatures are between 18 degrees Celsius and 35 Degrees Celsius. And in case you decide to start when the temperatures are under or above these temperature limits (18-35 degrees C), the success rate would suffer, but you might get some successful propagations, expect 2-3 successful cuttings for every 5 cuttings you plant or thereabout. So my advice, if you have access to an unlimited supply of cuttings, try whenever you can but if you get these cuttings the hard way (the rare/ exotic ones), then wait until you get the right temperatures. I’ve had the cuttings soaking overnight in the wood ash and water, and the ash is settled on the bottom 20% of the water in the cups. Did you stir the water at all, during this week of soaking? Or did you change the water at all, and add new ash? 🙏🏻

Also, please don't forget to put the cuttings in cinnamon and water solution for about 2-3 hours. And then get them into the wood ash and water solution. Please note you don't need to stir (or stir, it won't make much of a difference, given within the next 5 minutes it would settle at the bottom again) the water at all during the first week when the cuttings are sitting in wood ash solution. But after a week, replace the wood ash solution with plain tap water.

I am not sure what do you mean by Exora Bougainvillea! I am not aware of what this plant is, so it would be great if you can elaborate a little more. Maybe then I can comment on the question then. Just to share information on a bougainvillea plant- you can propagate it during any month however if the temperatures fall below 18-degree Celsius that's when it becomes difficult to grow them successfully. Hi , i bought this Bougainville 2 months ago, after 15 days of buying it started shedding most of it's flowers and few leaves i water it only if the upper soil is dry then I feeded it with some homemade fertilizer ( onions, orange egg shells and pomegranate peels powder) and rice water in 2 months, I don't see any issue leaves are coming back nicely but it is growing out of shape it's shapeless. So my question is can I prune it this time I mean in march? I bought it in January from a plant shop. Can u help me with pruning Bougainville?
Hi, Tahseen Ansari!! Well, you have done a great job with all the care and attention the said Bougainvillea has been offered. Kudos!! First things first, please note that there’s a subtle difference between Pruning and Trimming! Pruning is used to remove unnecessary branches. Trimming, on the other hand, promotes healthy growth; and I am sure it’s pretty clear that you have to prune your Bougainvillea. I would not mind if the plant is growing all over and has no shape or form right now, I would let it just grow and not prune it until next year right after Spring. Also, it won’t be an issue if you do it right now, just make sure you cut off just the branches that are being bothersome and not go for the hard prune. Use a sterilized tool and then cover the wounds with cinnamon powder and water immediately and then keep up the watering schedule as before. A good 2-3 months, really depends on the newly propagated plants' condition. Moreover, it won't matter if you leave the new plants without sun (though they should be outside in the open air) for an extended period. However, 3 months is the upper limit. Alternatively, once you have 6-10 pairs of leaves on the cutting (by now it would be a fully established plant), you can take it to a sunny spot (that gets 6-8 hours of sun). Also, please note, if you have raised them and now you are planning to transplant them in an area that is already sunny, be careful and avoid any damage to the roots whatsoever. Once transplanted, water every 2 days for about 2 weeks and then go with watering once every 7 days. If there is anything else, please let me know and we can have another discussion, no worries. Hi, I planted a mature cutting a little over a month ago and it’s recently shown a little bud with a streak of pinkish red. seemed to be a flower but not quite sure because there is just a tiny leaf around it’s stem. Is that possible? Wanted to share a photo but I don’t think that’s possible.
What is the ratio of cinnamon & water mixed prior to planting. After planting how many days before watering and how often thereafter. And when will it be transferred to its permanent pot.
- 1 Teaspoon of Cinnamon Powder in a litre of water (half a teaspoon in 500 ml of water, likewise) - Pre-soak the pot at least twice in 2 days before inserting cuttings into it - Water immediately and keep the pot in the shade and water every 2 days in the evenings for a week or so. After that water once every 3-4 days, the idea is not to let the pot go hard dry - The pot stays in the shade until you get a good number of leaves- healthy and all spread - I would suggest that you let the plant flower and once that happens, you can go for the permanent pot- just be careful that you get the whole root structure out and as soon as repotted, water immediately and keep doing that for at least coming 3-4 days -After replanting also, the plant stays in shade for 3-4 days just to give it all the precautions -Here's my latest video (covering watering schedule and everything else), you should check it out- Get massively crazy ROOT STRUCTURE (n flowers to go with) on newly propagated BOUGAINVILLEA CUTTINGS ua-cam.com/video/PH9CJFTkZQA/v-deo.html If at all there is anything else, you would like to discuss, please let me know. @@jocelynlope531 These are 2 separate things- Pot- Let us say this is the day before yesterday. We pre-soak the pot a couple of times and get it ready for the cuttings later Cuttings- Let us say this is today. Now you need to get the cuttings today from the parent plant. Scrape the bottom and then put it in the cinnamon and water solution for not more than 4 hours. Get them out and put them in the pre-soaked pot and water them immediately again. And then follow everything I shared in my last reply. To be honest, I have never used a store-bought rooting hormone! I have been using Cinnamon Powder and Water solution for years now and yes, it works both as a rooting hormone and fungicide, helping the new cuttings cope with the initial days and problems during propagation. Please let the cuttings sit in this solution for 3-4 hours (not more) and then put them in the soil. If there is anything else, please let me know and we can have another discussion. Ah, as I said in the video, that's your normal/ regular garden soil. Of course, you got to use a fresh batch not reuse it from a pot or an existing garden bed! You have 2 ways to do this- 1. Don't water the cup for 4-5 days so that roots clamp the soil quite nicely and it's easy for you to pull the whole root structure out without any damages 2. You can cut open the cup from top to bottom on two sides and reveal the whole root structure In doing this all you got to make sure that roots aren't damaged at all otherwise there is a good chance that it might not survive the repotting process. And of course, once repotted, keep it in the shade for 3-4 days and water every day until then. If there is anything else, please let me know and we can have another discussion. @@shurfaheducation7236 You're welcome! There is no way a Bougainvillea can be devoid of already existing thorns. Just that as the plant grows you can manage where you leave the thorns. I have a Bougainvillea that's 6 years old and it has reduced the number of thorns on the trunk and all of them are concentrated at the top, with the leaves and flowers. If the weather they get is all hot, they tend to produce more thorns and that's how it goes. And as I shared earlier, you got to buy a Bougainvillea variety that has no or minimum thorns, and that's the only way.

Hello again bouy I tried but I just can't seem to get pass the first stage ,the leaves come up but soon after they just fall off don't kno what I'm doing wrong please help right now I have some an they have baby leaves some have fallen off ,it's raining alot in Jamaica an I forgot to take them in side, so they were soaked, I have them inside now but I'm wondering if they all will soon die
Hello Megga, how are you? Hmmmm.......I see. I don't know exactly what's happening with the Bougainvillea cuttings but it seems the leftover sugar in the cutting sprouts some leaves and there is nothing going on as far as propagation is concerned so once the food in the cutting is over there is no more supply through new roots and hence they just go dry and get done eventually. The rainy season is just the kind of weather cuttings need and it should have worked but I seriously cannot figure out what could the reason. Still, let me try and list down a few possible scenarios where the cuttings would not be successful- 1. You messed up the top and bottom ends of the cuttings. It happens with me as well so you got to be careful when you cut a branch, mark/ scar the bottom part immediately so that later on, you know exactly which end will go into the soil 2. The parent plant is less than 2 years old and cuttings are all green or greenish-brown, you need mature brown cuttings from a plant that is 4+ years old 3. After you procure the cuttings, you left them to dry out for a day or even more 4. Once potted, they need to be in the shade for 2-3 weeks 5. Could be you didn't scar it properly, gently scratch the lower part until you see some green part and that would it, please don't go any further 6. The size of the cutting should be anywhere between 6-8 inches 7. Soil Mix- 50% garden soil + 50% cocopeat 8. It could also be the simplest of the reasons- may be the cuttings were disturbed by kids or pets (just a shake or even pulled out and put back again), if that happens no way they would pick up again One or more of these could be the reason, I hope you will be able to identify it and fix it😊 👍 I am here, if there is anything else you want to discuss please let me know and we can work it out again, no worries! Oh I needed to ask, u said they loved rain, so is it that whenever I plant them I can leave them in the rain as long as they are very mature cuttings I mean the older pieces of cuttings?
@@meggaforce9907 Yes, the rainy season is perfect for any kind of plant propagation. So you can leave them in the rains however then avoid watering them yourself. The humidity and natural water will take care of things. Let us say it's raining 2-3 times a week, that's perfect and don't water them. Anything else, please let me know whenever. Thank you!!

What is the best time to take a cutting in hot and humid weather ( that's now in southern part of West Bengal ) I am not familiar with the term " second quarter of the day " you mentioned in another video 😎
@@aparnaroy8814 For me day is between 6 am to 6 pm
- So between 6am & 9am and 3pm & 6pm; not a good time to disturb the plants
- 12noon to 3pm gets too hot hence the cuttings will lose water at a faster rate
- And now we are left with just the 'second quarter' between 9 am and 12 noon, the perfect time to procure cuttings

really enjoyed your video. I've loved Bougainvillea's since I was a kid in Argentina (We called them Santa Rita). I'm 38 now and I bought one online and it came with the hard woody stem and a couple of branching leaves. Well, the USPS guy left in in my mailbox for a couple of days at 32 degrees. Needless to say, I was left with just the woody stem. I persisted. Watered it and within a couple of weeks, 3 new chutes were growing. I kept at it for another month and decided to move it to a bigger pot. (Rookie mistake). I was careful enough not to disturb the roots and it's been another month and it's still "ok". It has however seemed to have stopped growing. Not only that, but I moved it to a sunny window side and when the sun hits it, the leaves appear soft and droopy. When the sun goes away, the firm up again. Any thoughts on how to keep it growing and what's going on with the sun?

Wow, first off I got to say this, loved reading your comment, always such a pleasure to hear great love for plants and you certainly know your plants, and fortunate to make your acquaintance.
Whatever you did with your newly bought Bougainvillea sets you apart from a lot of people and your plants must be so proud to be under your care, please keep that going and help the environment as much as possible.
Please allow me to clarify a few things before I share my assessment-
- when you say windowsill, has the Bougainvillea been growing inside the house with only filtered sunlight
- how has been the temperature in the area you live in (last 2 months and next 2 months would help)
- what is the watering schedule (for instance I water my Bougainvilleas once a week and thoroughly)
- how was the soil mix and are drainage holes all unblocked (simply put, excess water just runs out of the pot)
Also note, plants tell you what exactly they need, so if the Bougainvillea you have doesn't want to be in the sun, so be it, however that's uncommon because they would grow great foliage but won't produce flowers. So once I have a better understanding of what conditions it has been growing, then only I can share a way forward.
Until you are able to share a detailed response in this regard, if there is anything else, please let me know and we can have a discussion.

A big thank you for your immediate and lengthy response. Surely will explore and watch your videos. Just yesterday I had my bright pink bougainvillea cutting planted without using any rooting hormone. Still have other colours for experiment using your method.
Am not so interested in growing Adenium and Orchid. Other than bougainvillea, I love roses, hydrangea and hibiscus. Peruvian Zinnia, Gomphrena and Marigold occupied my garden for now.

Great video. I’m going to try to propagate my bougainvillea next summer using your gravel and dirt technique.
@5:50 I think it's river sand and dessert sand that will give us the best results due to the minerals it contains.

As I started the experiment I too was convinced that River sand will certainly outclass everything else, why, because that's what we have been doing and getting great results. But somehow I had this feeling also that Gravel either will fail miserably or supersede every other ingredient and then results shocked me as well.

I have done Bougainville cuttings so many times earlier but never used gravels. Your way of explaining is very impressive. In winters or severe summers, i keep my cuttings covered with polythene to maintain humidity n warmth and it always worked. But last time , after one week removing the cover , the well grown cuttings did not survive. What may be the reason ? During their struggling phase, i drenched with humic acid to support but they collapsed.

No. 1 (quickest) Gravel
No. 2 (second- quickest) River Sand
No. 3 (third-quickest) Ground Sand
No. 4 (FAIL) Desert Sand
So if you can get some gravel, great if no then there are 2 more options to go with 😊

Well, did you keep the cutting in water for last 2 days or it was just lying 😊??
If it was in water for all this time, there is a 30-40% chance that it will make it and if it was lying just like that, 5-10% chance it would be successful.
Nevertheless, I would suggest, please put it in the soil without anymore delay! I wish you luck and energy, may your cutting does the best it can to become a plant.

Yes, absolutely you can graft as many stems as you want on a Bougainvillea rootstock. I am also working on a video on the same line and whenever it's ready, sure, you will be notified and if you haven't already started your graft apparatus, you can avoid or do a few things which I will be mentioned in the video. For now, though, all I can say is stay tuned. Yes, one thing I can share right now is this, why don't you get yourself some thick rootstocks just like this (if you have these already established great if no then please get started now so that when the said video comes out, you have things ready and running😊)

Interesting and good. Do you have any tips for garlic vine flowering? None of mine is flowering, I have two in pots and two on the ground, all planted more than a year ago. This, despite all care.

Your question is pretty straightforward and it also suggests that you know your plants well and they are under great care. So if I have to pick a reason for the said Garlic Vines, not flowering (given you got the soil mix, sunlight, and watering on point), they must be all grown from seeds and would take some extra months or years to bloom.
Honestly, I don't see any other reason and hopefully, you would agree.

Cinnamon is one of the most popular kitchen spices, I am sure every store in your area would have it. Anyway let us talk about what can replace cinnamon powder, well, there are a few options, however, I cannot confirm their effectiveness as I have ALWAYS used cinnamon powder. Here they are- Honey, Aloe Vera gel and Turmeric. If you do use one of these alternates, please let us all know how that worked for you. I wish you good luck.

About your suggestion, Pumice has 4X the R-value of typical sand or gravel and I can confirm it is a BETTER option. The only condition is this- use pumices only when your plants face extreme high and low temperatures in a year (e.g. here in Dubai we get highs of 50 degrees Celsius and lows of 10 degrees Celsius so a perfect option given the higher R-value).

What happens when you do not have any rivers where you live???
For this experiment and more so for the gravel and river sand, all we need is a friendly construction site. They get all the materials, gravel, river sand, you can get it from there. Or, any nursery would be happy to give it to you for a premium, so whatever suits you. I am in Dubai, and no rivers, but I have a plentiful supply of all the materials used in the video.

1. What is the temperature when this experiment was performed .Can bougenvila root in a temperature around 10-15 deg C ?

➽ I live in Dubai and temperatures here range from 14 degrees (+ /- ) Celsius to 41 degrees (+ /-) Clesius. This particular experiment was during the months when temperatures were between 22 degrees Celsius and 35 degrees Celsius
➽ And if you want 100% results, please start the cuttings in the soil when the temperatures are between 18 degrees Celsius and 35 Degrees Celsius. And in case you decide to start when the temperatures are under or above these temperature limits (18-35 degrees C), the success rate would suffer, but you might get some successful propagations, expect 2-3 successful cuttings for every 5 cuttings you plant or thereabout. So my advice, if you have access to an unlimited supply of cuttings, try whenever you can but if you get these cuttings the hard way (the rare/ exotic ones), then wait until you get the right temperatures. I’ve had the cuttings soaking overnight in the wood ash and water, and the ash is settled on the bottom 20% of the water in the cups. Did you stir the water at all, during this week of soaking? Or did you change the water at all, and add new ash? 🙏🏻

So I am inclined to believe that you are trying to get the best method by combining these 2 methods, right; pretty smart I must say and I am sure the results would be beautiful.
Also, please don't forget to put the cuttings in cinnamon and water solution for about 2-3 hours. And then get them into the wood ash and water solution.
Please note you don't need to stir (or stir, it won't make much of a difference, given within the next 5 minutes it would settle at the bottom again) the water at all during the first week when the cuttings are sitting in wood ash solution. But after a week, replace the wood ash solution with plain tap water.

I am not sure what do you mean by Exora Bougainvillea! I am not aware of what this plant is, so it would be great if you can elaborate a little more. Maybe then I can comment on the question then. Thank you!
Just to share information on a bougainvillea plant- you can propagate it during any month however if the temperatures fall below 18-degree Celsius that's when it becomes difficult to grow them successfully. So for now I would suggest not to start that process.

Hi , i bought this Bougainville 2 months ago, after 15 days of buying it started shedding most of it's flowers and few leaves i water it only if the upper soil is dry then I feeded it with some homemade fertilizer ( onions, orange egg shells and pomegranate peels powder) and rice water in 2 months, I don't see any issue leaves are coming back nicely but it is growing out of shape it's shapeless. So my question is can I prune it this time I mean in march? I bought it in January from a plant shop. Can u help me with pruning Bougainville?

Well, you have done a great job with all the care and attention the said Bougainvillea has been offered. Kudos!!
First things first, please note that there’s a subtle difference between Pruning and Trimming! Pruning is used to remove unnecessary branches. Trimming, on the other hand, promotes healthy growth; and I am sure it’s pretty clear that you have to prune your Bougainvillea.
I would not mind if the plant is growing all over and has no shape or form right now, I would let it just grow and not prune it until next year right after Spring. Also, it won’t be an issue if you do it right now, just make sure you cut off just the branches that are being bothersome and not go for the hard prune. Use a sterilized tool and then cover the wounds with cinnamon powder and water immediately and then keep up the watering schedule as before.

How long should i leave the cuttings in the shade before putting in the sun and then as fence coverage?
A good 2-3 months, really depends on the newly propagated plants' condition. Moreover, it won't matter if you leave the new plants without sun (though they should be outside in the open air) for an extended period. However, 3 months is the upper limit.
Alternatively, once you have 6-10 pairs of leaves on the cutting (by now it would be a fully established plant), you can take it to a sunny spot (that gets 6-8 hours of sun). Also, please note, if you have raised them and now you are planning to transplant them in an area that is already sunny, be careful and avoid any damage to the roots whatsoever. Once transplanted, water every 2 days for about 2 weeks and then go with watering once every 7 days.

- How old is the Bougainvillea, seems like you recently bought it, doesn't look propagated?
- What about the leaves, do they also go crispy?
- What variety is it? Looks like this one is without prominent thorns, right?
- Have you used any fertilizers recently?
- Pot or Ground?
- How often you water the plant?
- Is this the only plant with such problem or there are others (Bougainvilleas or other outdoor plants)
- Also, have you changed the plant's location in last few days, months

Hi, I planted a mature cutting a little over a month ago and it’s recently shown a little bud with a streak of pinkish red. seemed to be a flower but not quite sure because there is just a tiny leaf around it’s stem. Is that possible? Wanted to share a photo but I don’t think that’s possible.
What is the ratio of cinnamon & water mixed prior to planting. After planting how many days before watering and how often thereafter. And when will it be transferred to its permanent pot.
- 1 Teaspoon of Cinnamon Powder in a litre of water (half a teaspoon in 500 ml of water, likewise)
- Pre-soak the pot at least twice in 2 days before inserting cuttings into it
- Water immediately and keep the pot in the shade and water every 2 days in the evenings for a week or so. After that water once every 3-4 days, the idea is not to let the pot go hard dry
- The pot stays in the shade until you get a good number of leaves- healthy and all spread
- I would suggest that you let the plant flower and once that happens, you can go for the permanent pot- just be careful that you get the whole root structure out and as soon as repotted, water immediately and keep doing that for at least coming 3-4 days
-After replanting also, the plant stays in shade for 3-4 days just to give it all the precautions

Pre-soak the pot? Or you mean pre-soak the cuttings, not the pot, in two days changing the water with cinnamon daily...

These are 2 separate things-
Pot- Let us say this is the day before yesterday. We pre-soak the pot a couple of times and get it ready for the cuttings later
Cuttings- Let us say this is today. Now you need to get the cuttings today from the parent plant. Scrape the bottom and then put it in the cinnamon and water solution for not more than 4 hours. Get them out and put them in the pre-soaked pot and water them immediately again. And then follow everything I shared in my last reply.

What root hormone did you used?
To be honest, I have never used a store-bought rooting hormone! I have been using Cinnamon Powder and Water solution for years now and yes, it works both as a rooting hormone and fungicide, helping the new cuttings cope with the initial days and problems during propagation.
Please let the cuttings sit in this solution for 3-4 hours (not more) and then put them in the soil.

What are you mixing in sand that black thing
Ah, as I said in the video, that's your normal/ regular garden soil. Of course, you got to use a fresh batch not reuse it from a pot or an existing garden bed!

How to transfer the bougainvillea from the cup to bigger pot
You have 2 ways to do this-
1. Don't water the cup for 4-5 days so that roots clamp the soil quite nicely and it's easy for you to pull the whole root structure out without any damages
2. You can cut open the cup from top to bottom on two sides and reveal the whole root structure
In doing this all you got to make sure that roots aren't damaged at all otherwise there is a good chance that it might not survive the repotting process. And of course, once repotted, keep it in the shade for 3-4 days and water every day until then.

Yes, it is applicable to plants that flower almost the whole year and predominantly grown from cuttings! Also, please note that this method is the best and quickest way to make the new cuttings flower in minimum time.

I believe you asked me about the best garden soil! Well, you can pick any normal potting soil and that would do it. In fact, if you try some fancy potting mix, it won't make much of a difference. So go with a basic mix and you will be fine 😊

Just in case you are looking for thorn-less Bougainvilleas then there are a few options-
1. Miss Alice, is prized for its brilliant white clusters of flowers and semi-dwarf size, reaching a mature height of 2 to 3 feet tall
2. Singapore Pink, a sister variety of Miss Alice, is semi-thornless, presenting pale pink blooms

@@GauravChhikaraGardenDubai thanks for your reply. usually when it goes wild, it starts to be bad inside the bush and a lot of thorns, so could you please let us know how to get rid of the thorns from the plant for good. i am planning to start have a wild one and the other one to make as a tree. any hints would be really appreciated. i am fond of Bougainvilea :)

@@shurfaheducation7236 You're welcome! There is no way a Bougainvillea can be devoid of already existing thorns. Just that as the plant grows you can manage where you leave the thorns. I have a Bougainvillea that's 6 years old and it has reduced the number of thorns on the trunk and all of them are concentrated at the top, with the leaves and flowers. If the weather they get is all hot, they tend to produce more thorns and that's how it goes. And as I shared earlier, you got to buy a Bougainvillea variety that has no or minimum thorns, and that's the only way.

Hello again bouy I tried but I just can't seem to get pass the first stage ,the leaves come up but soon after they just fall off don't kno what I'm doing wrong please help right now I have some an they have baby leaves some have fallen off ,it's raining alot in Jamaica an I forgot to take them in side, so they were soaked, I have them inside now but I'm wondering if they all will soon die

Hmmmm.......I see. I don't know exactly what's happening with the Bougainvillea cuttings but it seems the leftover sugar in the cutting sprouts some leaves and there is nothing going on as far as propagation is concerned so once the food in the cutting is over there is no more supply through new roots and hence they just go dry and get done eventually.
The rainy season is just the kind of weather cuttings need and it should have worked but I seriously cannot figure out what could the reason. Still, let me try and list down a few possible scenarios where the cuttings would not be successful-
1. You messed up the top and bottom ends of the cuttings. It happens with me as well so you got to be careful when you cut a branch, mark/ scar the bottom part immediately so that later on, you know exactly which end will go into the soil
2. The parent plant is less than 2 years old and cuttings are all green or greenish-brown, you need mature brown cuttings from a plant that is 4+ years old
3. After you procure the cuttings, you left them to dry out for a day or even more
4. Once potted, they need to be in the shade for 2-3 weeks
5. Could be you didn't scar it properly, gently scratch the lower part until you see some green part and that would it, please don't go any further
6. The size of the cutting should be anywhere between 6-8 inches
7. Soil Mix- 50% garden soil + 50% cocopeat
8. It could also be the simplest of the reasons- may be the cuttings were disturbed by kids or pets (just a shake or even pulled out and put back again), if that happens no way they would pick up again
One or more of these could be the reason, I hope you will be able to identify it and fix it😊 👍

Oh I needed to ask, u said they loved rain, so is it that whenever I plant them I can leave them in the rain as long as they are very mature cuttings I mean the older pieces of cuttings?

@@meggaforce9907 Yes, the rainy season is perfect for any kind of plant propagation. So you can leave them in the rains however then avoid watering them yourself. The humidity and natural water will take care of things. Let us say it's raining 2-3 times a week, that's perfect and don't water them. Anything else, please let me know whenever. Thank you!!
Conclusion: Bougainvilleas root loves air and why not they are native to coastal areas where sun and wind has a great combination.
