I actually spray some on my bike brakes. a temporary solution for brake noises. I just make sure I test drive it a bit until the brakes feel back to normal before I go on the main roads

Another great idea for bikers (own experience) It is great for replacing the grips on the steering handle. Both for taking them off as for putting them on. At first they can just be slit on, wait a little and they get stuck and can be used.
It's a light oil....any light oil will thin. A heavier oil.....diesel fuel is an oil for example, as is kerosene the main oil in WD40.....best to keep it away from brake surfaces though :)
Plus gas or other actual penetrating lube is better for rusted in bolts...and long term oil is better as wd40 is more for water displacement and short term fix 🙂👍🏻

I have found PB Blaster (or Seafoam Deep Creep) penetrating oil spray cleans better, and Fluid Film spray lasts longer as a lube than WD 40. Generally, every specialty spray or liquid works better, such as Turtle Wax Trim Restorer, Mothers Mag & Aluminum Polish, and Mothers VLR (vinyl, leather and rubber).

CAREFUL in applying WD40 over plastic (soft or rigid, like the indicator light shown here) and rubber (like houses and tires). it contains petroleum which does make the rubber feels younger and more rubbery (!) at first, but in fact penetrates the material and causes degradation with time.

WD also does a fantastic job on black plastic car trim such as bumpers (fenders for you Americans) better than more expensive products like "Back to Black". And it lasts too! I tried it on my 1984 Vauxhall Astra trim which was all faded and knackered and it made it look like new!

most of these "brilliant ideas" are actualy what wd40 is made for.. nothing brilliant about lubricating a door hinge with a product that is made to do this. same with the bike foot stand. and please be very carefull using this on your wheels.. you do not want a lubricant on your brake disk...
Lubricating any hinge with WD40 is a silly idea. The hinge is almost guaranteed to fail a few months later. WD40 is not a lubricant, it's a penetrating/cleaning oil and you should always folllow up with a real oil afterwards. WD = "water displacer" - it's good for rust protection. That's what it was created for. One thing it's _BRILLIANT_ for is graffiti prevention - wipe down metal shutters or other surfaces with it. As well as preventing oxidation, the remaining oil film means any sprayed graffiti will simply wipe off the surface.
Alan Brown WD40 is brilliant on hinges and door locks,i used it on hinges of doors to stop the squeaky noise and a jammy doorlock on the same door and the lock on the backgate was sticking as well,that was ten years ago and haven't had to use it since,still have that very same spraycan of WD40 after ten years and everything working perfectly.
WD40 is not actually designed as a permanent lubricant in most circumstances. It is water displacement (WD).Too light a lubricant for lots of things and actually no good for most lubrication as it dissolves the thicker grease that was originally on the item to be lubricated. Window hinges get worse!

I AM NOVA and where did you get that from? Modern brakes are composite materials, the only ones running carbon rotors are the very expensive hypercars and racecars.

It depends on the type of plastic it is sprayed on. It can, and will contribute to premature wear of some plastics and rubbers.
