A lot of commercial products use butane as a propellant but that's probably hard to find in quantity; I wonder if propane would work? Yes I know it's dangerous, but as I said, a lot of commercial products use butane as a propellant and can be used as junior flamethrowers, as you see in movies.
You did a great job, the idea is very smart and creative. Paint bottles are reused in a very effective way, I'm a big fan. However, when loading paint into the tank, you use a pump to create pressure. You should choose one with a pressure gauge to control its critical pressure, otherwise it will cause the tank to explode, which is very dangerous.
Yeah, w/o knowing what the operating pressures of these cans are it might be somewhat dangerous to use them? Also I find that the spray nozzles are often so bad during the 1st use of painting that they won't get better the 2nd time around? I'm sure you can clean them or replace them but there's got to be a balance point of how much time/trouble(money) when compared to buying a new can of paint? But the operating pressure needs to be known, or close? peace
This video is incredibly helpful and informative! The clear step-by-step instructions made it so easy to follow along and successfully refill my paint spray can. I appreciate the attention to detail and the practical tips provided throughout the video. This method not only saved me money but also taught me a valuable DIY skill. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. I look forward to trying more of your DIY projects!
Hey Gaus, I was only speaking of what I personally might have as a concern, the idea is surely a great one with a lot of potential & I even grabbed the video to attempt it. I was hoping you knew how much pressure this can can handle so that no one overfills the inert gas they chose as a propellant? It's a dynamite idea that's way past it's time. Thanks for sharing it. peace
Well done. Thanks for posting this! As others here have posted, remember several things: Not everyone has available supplies to just ‘go out and purchase’ the correct disposable paint cans. Not everyone has the money to buy them even if they were available. Finally, things will not always be as they are now for you…so, learn how to make do and solve problems anyway you can if needed…sure, always be careful, but in an emergency, you do what you have to…not just with paint…but with whatever you have available.
I think the principal consideration is SAFETY. I've read two comments pointing that out and we all should thank them for that. I aire the creativity of the video maker.. very intelligent, indeed. Just remember the importance of knowing the amount of pressure the spray can can take.
Good job. The position of the excess glue around the valve at 9:21 and 9:26 is different. That means there are clearly two spray cans, one before and one after use.
Where do you buy the liquid paint from to refill the spray can? great video, I'm up for trying this if I can find an outlet selling the colour of paint I need.
interesting, you are very creative, that tube only comes for a certain amount of pressure, one or two fills can be useful, but it is not for permanent use, you allow it for a long time.
Try taking the button off and put it in a small cup with lacquer thinner, add the can upside down to the cup. Let soak for a few hours or overnight. Reassemble, warm in the sun. Guess this will fix almost all.
Good idea, we have some, but may not be available in his part of the world. No tool for the rivnut needed... A long machine screw, a couple of washers, two nuts, locking pliers and a wrench.
I have a question, what can one do with a full can of spray where the the nozzle broke off completely. Its still full, scared the can will blow should I puncture it
Why you should consider buying online a refillable auto body shop spray bottle Or a can version with a air pressure valve they are cheap compared to the hospital bill for picking out the metal in your heart or head!!! ElCheapo is not the way to Die!!!
Lija, pernos, pegamento, lima, guantes, bencina..😅😅😅😅
I have not done that job, but in my opinion you should try pumping a little bit of aromatic gasoline back into the paint can but the pressure should not exceed 4 Bar.
Perhaps I'm stupid, but I just had to watch this until the end. You sprayed paint on a piece of scrap wood that was on some of the most beautiful tiling I have ever seen - some of the spray must have gone on the tiling and I'll bet you didn't bother to clean that off!!!
Drain the paint from other non-working spray paint cans. I know I have several laying around. This is a great way to salvage the paint in them. Just be sure that all the pressure is out of them first!

I like idea ❤
Just buy a new one!
The epoxy and nut will pop off before a can explodes. Other videos have pressure, but you can put some air in and try it, adding more as needed.

Did this in the late 1960s. #1 problem is using ambient air in the can, the paint will skin over inside. Use Co2 to fill the can.
Good point may need to drain and rinse every time. Like a tool, ready to use.
Did you try azote?

In what kind of an emergency would anyone yell, "Quick! Make me a spray can!"?
I think it’s a good idea if you need to blend a specific color. Just be careful not to over pressurize, you can always add more as you spray.
While I find this interesting and creative….I believe I could walk to the hardware store and back in less time with a new can of paint!

From algeia . Very good and vers useful idea. Thank you. God bless you.
Nice video, would be nice to know the mix for the paint.I would guess oil base thinned with naphtha or mineral spirits
Very important. Need very thin paint.

Bravo très bonne astuce.
Thank you!
How much pressure? Very important point you left out. The can could burst causing severe to fatal injury.
50-70 PSI - 100psi MAX

What was that powder that he used to seal tube in the filler bottle?
it's baking soda

Excellent thanks.
the top valve and spray head have always been the reason why i got rid of partial cans.
Thats a great solution thx

I'm just wondering about the type of glue used, is it really strong enough to use? Thank you for the good video
Hi buddy, you can use J&B weld, it’s strong enough for this and so easy to find it.
Good nice👍
alternatively, get an airbrush kit. Cleaning would be much easier and efficient. Just a thought!
Of course buying a new one is easy, but holding a paint pot that you made yourself is very interesting and enjoyable.
Thank you how many bars with the pum?
I have a question, what can one do with a full can of spray where the the nozzle broke off completely. Its still full, scared the can will blow should I puncture it
Id suggest not puncture it. The paint will probably make a he'll of a mess if it's full.
At the very least do it outside and wear eye protection.

What adhesive is that

Perhaps in his and viewers part of the world, the shops are not available. Add some air, try it, adding more as needed
Keep the air pressure low eg 50 -90 psi and there should be no problem.
You can buy them cheap and you will know what air pressure to use.
Maybe in your part of the world. Most parts, stores are a long trip. No Amazon yet.

The problem you introduce air with oxygen not CO2 that is inert with paint. Only is usefull one time. But good idea.

Yes, traveling to the nearest store maybe four hours round trip. 😂
Gracias

The paint probably cost as much as the air valve, fittings and glue. What a waste of time.
