At times in the mid-70s, while commuting on the 10, I found myself surrounded by out of state plates, mostly from the northeast. Those folks brought their very un-Californian politics and social mores with them, altering the entire civic landscape of SoCal. It's amusing to see their kids now bailing out.

California was like putting an empty glass on a table. The table represents America the glass represents California. I remember going on road trips to visit family in Montana back in the 90s as a kid… we had California plates so people in Idaho and Montana threw trash at us and flipped us off as we drove around. Utah was scary they looked at our multi racial family like they were about to shoot us… So as a kid I realized America sucks and is full of bitter small minded people!… so I stayed in California instead. I have never moved out. Every time I go on vacation or business trip to the rest of the country or other countries it reminds me that I live in a special place where the races mix completely and mostly peaceful and no matter how weird you are or crazy your ideas people will respect you. This place is expensive but it’s because it’s full of people making huge money and creating opportunities. It’s expensive because California is a major capitalistic hub for the planet. There is something special in the air here. Ill bet when people move out they realize fast that the homes are cheaper because they will have stagnant incomes and be missing out on opportunities that could be had if they move to an expensive business hub.

I am a lifelong Californian with many cousins living in Idaho. I have visited Idaho from California many many times. I do agree with the all the information in this video except there is one thing in this video that is misleading . This video shows plenty of African Americans next to white people in Idaho which is simply not reality. Idaho has a very small number of African Americans living in the state especially in the rural areas. The biggest difference between California and Idaho is the large ethnic diversity of people in California compared to Idaho, which is primarily white. People leaving Idaho to go back to California is a good thing for Idaho. Next door, they keep showing up and never leave. Washington is becoming California. Just look at Seattle. As their problems spread to smaller cities, pockets of common sense areas, usually in small towns and / or suburbs, hold their ground. The eastern side of the state says he'll no, go back to Seattle.

Ive live in Kommiefornia since 1967 and raised my kids and grandkids here. My granddaughter and her husband moved to Idaho a year ago and haven’t been happier. I was raised in Illinois and am not afraid of the winters. I can’t wait until spring to put this state behind me. It has gone down hill so bad the ONLY good about it now is the weather but that’s not good enough to keep anybody in their RIGHT mind here. I want peace, quiet and calmness in the last years of my retirement with my granddaughter and puppy. So, I’m going where people think like I do and are happy we have our President Trump back and will do what the installed one hasn’t for the last four years. I’m putting a sign in my car window that will say” I did NOT help install BIDEN” when I get there so I don’t get flipped off like my granddaughter did just because she has Kommiefornia tags on her car.👍 I’m on your side Idaho… President Trump👍💯‼️

I could live with a certain amount of conservatism. But the whole white nationalist thing seems a bit too widespread, along with the general lack of non-white people. As for education, I dunno. I found a document online (from the Idaho department of education, no less) cheerfully saying that Idaho's student achievement in 2021 was a C, up from a D+ in 2016. I also miss the smaller grocery stores such as Oliver's Markets, Sprouts, farmers' markets and would love more mom and pop restaurants and quaint coffee shops and cafes. Hoping as it continues to grow here these family entrepreneurs will come here with less chain restaurants and large chain supermarkets. Idaho is great if you just accept it for what it is. Moving from a state that has literally everything at your disposal to a state that doesn’t but expect the former is asinine. I agree that the housing prices unrealistic for where you are living and the lack of amenities throughout. For all those that think it’s turning to another California then you better be willing to wait awhile because old areas like Nampa have decades of work to do if it ever happens. Long winters are my current concern but I’m learning to stay active during them. The outdoors is gorgeous here in Idaho.
