I had this problem of a grinding noise in 2WD which stopped instantly when 4WD was engaged. However, I permenently cured it by pulling back the bellows and lubricating both ends of the select rod. Keep in mind that 4WD is the default position. Getting the nylon bellows back on the casting was the problem, which I haven't resolved yet. Perhaps freeing both ends and getting the diff end back first.
The 4 wheel drive green light on dashboard is flashing all the time, except when occasionally you are driving the light disappears and a whirring noise is heard from under the front of the vehicle. If you then slow to a standstill the whirring slows and then stops and then when you move off the light on the dashboard starts flashing again. its a 2010 triton/L200. If i unjack one of the vaccum control solienoid i dont get the problem. can you offer some advise
Hi All. Could this be the reason that the 4wd wont engauge? Ive replaced the ball under the leaver and have had the transfer case tested. Mechanic assumes its something electrical. Please please help
I’ve got a 98 Montero Ltd., the 4x4 dash lights, (front wheel only), are flashing, 4WD is not engaged. (It’s always run really strong), but now the new battery dies every day or two. Could a faulty transfer switch, speed sensor, or a bad actuator cause parasitic battery drain?
Mines doing exactly the same thing. While driving in 2H there is a grinding noise, then clonks when you slow down. It's the front diff engaging the axles
My 2006 pajero is doing the same thing after driving for a while you hear noise in the front end when u stop you hear a click and it goes but it happens continuously but when in 4H it seems fine any idea what could the problem be
Working on a 98 mini cab, and I can’t get the front end to engage.. I have tried moving it back and forth. I can’t climb under it and engage it manually. But, the plunger goes back to 2wd, am I missing something that I’m not seeing
Had the same problem..flashing green lights, i spoke to an engineer, who said this is what you should do...First replace the relay..which is located in the base of the cd/radio space..can be purchased on Ebay for £20....secondly if you hear a noise such as grinding, then change your solenoid, which is located on the drivers side in the engine area...if you need a picture goto Haynes repair manual pages 8-16...

Hi Guys, I have a 1995 pajero 3.5L V6 Manual. Went I select 2H on road it will move. But when I select 4H it won’t move and make a sound only. Then when I put 4HLC it moves again. Is this a problem
I have a l200 and on the dash I got that blinking wheels when it's on 2wd but I have no noise fortunate enough what do you think guys could be the same problem?
Hi dude ..I have the same problem with my 96 delica l400 ..same running gear as the pajero..I was on here looking for some info . As I understand it (limited knowledge) . Those solenoids on this vid are related to the 4wd free wheeling...which is a different set of warning signs, what we have is a transfer switch issue and as I understand there is 5 of them on top of the box and a bit of a nightmare to access. I am no expert but I hope this helps
@@ih5687 thanks yes it does . I might have to cut a hole under the centre consol to access by the sounds of it. I will do more investigating. So you did fix yours ?...
@@andrewrobinson2869 I dont think a hole needs to be cut , there is a way of doing the switches without hole cutting , I think you need to remove the cross member under neath the axle with the box supported on a jack then lower box in controlled fashion until you can access the switch you dont need to disconnect anything as there is enough movement ..a switch tool is required to make job easier .there is a good vid on here about it somewhere ..I ain't done mine yet I am saving up for other parts .I need literally gallons of oil for engine and gallons for the transmission...its big money for a small budget..

That's why what i have the same problem right now.. your experience i could use! Tnx :)
I had that in my 2003 Montero, it was some sensor. I paid a mechanic to do it, but once I found out it was just a sensor, I wished I had done it.
Robert Rodriguez do you know which sensor?
are you sure the connectors are in place???.lol,,,,tnx for video,,,
