Lisa, I hope you are doing okay now! Your life is valuable and I know it may seem overwhelming most days but it's worth it to just get up out of bed and take a walk or make yourself a healthy meal. Small steps do wonders. Stay well
I feel very uneasy about you taking their laundry into your home to do it. You may inadvertently bring over some bugs or bug eggs. I would rather see you drive them to a laundromat. They can do multiple loads simultaneously, and get done in a fraction of the time. You can pick them up afterwards. Maybe once the apartment is decontaminated it will be safe to do their laundry, but you want a long-term solution anyway. I suggest driving them to the laundromat.
If their city has busses they could take 2 loads a week on bus to and from laundromat. Or buy washer and dry, or if no hookups get portable washer and line dry clothes.
I even leave spaces between pieces of furniture that are wide enough for the vac to pass through. Easier that way. I used to decorate, now I decorate with an eye to making cleaning easier.
A solution for the laundry problem might be to ask in any freecycle type groups in facebook or the local community if anyone has an old working washing machine and or dryer that they want to give away. We get lots of these "old but working" white goods here in the uk that people want to dispose of when they upgrade to newer appliances but aren't worth enough to sell.
You are a good person and friend to do this, and do it with a willing heart. I don't know if this will be of any help to the situation or not, since I don't know how close your friendship is with the homeowner, but in the past I have had friends who didn't have a washer/dryer and what we did was once a week or so they would come over for lunch or dinner ---we would order pizza or get our favorite take-out ---and while the washer & dryer were doing their thing, we would binge watch our favorite shows ---to this day I associate the X-Files with folding towels! LOL Once they even helped me paint my dining room during laundry! Since they'd do it regularly, there was never a huge amount at a time to catch up on, a couple of loads max. They did their laundry and we had a carved out bit of time to catch up and enjoy our friendship. Again, not sure if this would work for you guys and this situation, but I thought I would offer it up as an idea. Take care and thank you for doing this and sharing it with the rest of us!
I am extremely jealous of how beautiful your house is with that huge couch and pool and your adorable little family. I love that your baby was helping with the laundry!!! Life goals! You are such a kind person and probably a godsend to the client you’re helping. It’s not easy to crawl your way out of depression especially when your house is a mess. Hopefully this helps this person immensely with feeling better!
You have the cleanest garage floor I’ve ever seen. Mine has dirt, leaves and dust balls in it constantly - I live in NJ and the roads are constantly being sanded for bad weather so it all gets pulled into the garage with the cars. I hate it so I’ll just stare longingly at yours. Lol 🤣
Glad to hear the person(s) involved is taking part in this project. They can see how hard you are working for them. The cigarette issue is a big one. I’d hate to see a fire get started and end up harming the owners, others, and the cats. Oh, and the cats. Yikes! I think there must be no litter box or it’s not being cleaned (ha) regularly.
As an ex-smoker you have my sympathy. I washed my walls and it took me ffoorreevveerr. Gross water. Gross towels. Gross me. The transformation tho …. Great
I don’t use a dresser. When folding laundry I get obsessive about neat, tidy, perfect folds. It is such a problem that folding laundry was such a headache that for the longest time I ended up just having a clean pile and a dirty pile on the floor. Now I hang everything in the closet. I got myself nice wood hangers that all match. If it doesn’t go on a hanger, it goes in a basket on a shelf. I don’t pair socks; instead I keep only a couple styles and they all go in the basket together. I only fold towels and keep a spare set of sheets for each bed. I rarely fold sheets because the spares are only used in emergent situations otherwise the sheets get laundered and put right back on the bed.
It was so kind of you to do their laundry. Maybe next time go to the laundromat with them, show them how to fold, they might not know how. As for me, I know my lack of interest washing/folding laundry so I have a very few clothes. The most dirty laundry I can accumulate is 2 loads. I hang all shirts and pants, all 3 pairs. Mack from MMC sent me to your channel.
If it's a possibility to convince them to only keep bare minimum necessities and purge the rest it will give them the best fighting chance at keeping it clean and organized. Best of luck. I will be anxious to see how that phase works out.
I havent seen the whole series yet (and i know this comment is a month old) but im pretty sure i saw some citadel brand miniature paints in one of the thumbnails. Judging by that id say they are likely a collector/avid hobbyist and getting them to part with their collections is often more traumatic than the clutter itself. I say this...because i am this.
Male cats will mark if they are not fixed so if that is the case, try to get them fixed. All cats will go elsewhere if they don’t have clean boxes. Once they mark a place they will keep coming back. Use an enzyme cleaner specifically for cat urine
they are both female cats but i suspect that is still the case, we are trying to help them get it set up to get them fixed so hopefully that will help! is there a specific enzyme cleaner you recommend? id love to get that issue resolved!
Pet stores like PetSmart, Petco have them. Nature’s Miracle is the one I’m familiar with because it’s been around the longest. I can’t vouch for how well it works because I’ve never had an issue with my kitties. I read cleaning the area first with vinegar then the enzyme cleaner helps too. Glad they are girl kitties though. Unfixed boy kitty pee smells way worse. I volunteer at a rescue and you always know when there is an unfixed boy in the shelter!
It might also be an issue with the litter boxes. In my experience with cats, they'll seek out other places to do their business if the boxes are too full already and aren't cleaned out regularly. Or if you use too harsh smelling chemicals on them. The regular cleaning of litter boxes would also help with the smell. Mine are quite happy with me removing clumps from their boxes 1-2 times a day + cleaning the boxes and changing the litter once a week.
@@engmfj couldn't have said it better! May I also add that some cats just don't like the 'placement' of their boxes. One of my cats will only go in the boxes downstairs, never upstairs. Go figure😅
Natures miracle is my go to. You just spray and leave it. The enzymes work on their own. As for litter boxes, there should be one more box than there are cats. Plus, 2 boxes close to each other, as far as cats are concerned, is just one box. So separate the boxes.
I invested in a portable washer. I don't drive and don't like the washer and dryer in my apartment building. For bedding, I just go over to a friend's house to do that laundry.
I feel bad because I was very judgy in one of my comments on one of the stages It was the bedroom clean up. I'm glad to hear that he is helping as you go through the items. I at one point was reselling and needed help organizing cleaning so I kind of know it's so hard when it gets out of hand to get control of it. But my place wasn't dirty it was just chaotic. But I have no room to judge.
In defense of the cats, they won't as a rule use a dirty box not scooped at least every other day. Another really helpful thing I have found is to place the litter box inside of a big box with a U shape cut out of it for them to get in and out of I have no litter fallout or kick off this way and if you put that box inside the closet right where they spray they will be spraying a box that you can throw out every so often.
You are a good person and doing amazing. Someone may have suggested it already but maybe a used portable washer and dryer. The washer can be hooked up to the sink in kitchen. I had one in one of the apartments I used to live in.
Just found your channel. It is so hard to help someone like this, I've tried. Kudos to you for trying again. It's quite defeating to put a lot of time and energy into helping someone only to see it go back the way it was. Especially those of us who just like to get things done!
This takes professional, clinical training. And yes their are trials and error in reference to obsessive compulsion. It requires a completely different skill set to even understand the patience needed to treat and work with a hoarder. Remember they are suffering terribly even if you can't see it. And a 'disorder' is not the same as simply kicking a bad habit.
The whole time watching I was a bit surprised that basic training had not had a greater effect on the occupant of this place, in terms of imparting tidying skills. Cleanliness is a different matter altogether, but ppl who've been thru basic training often develop a lifelong preference for order.
But having a disorder dosent absolve them from all responsebility. I hate when pleople use them excuses. I have some. Do i lean into it because i can say " oh its a disorder" ? No. That would make it worse. I need to fight everyday. Just like addiction. Its is bad. Its hard to fight. Will some fail? Yes. A lot. But the addiction/ disorder only wins if you give up.

Hi enjoying your videos but the music is very stressful 😭 You’re so kind doing their laundry too … hope they can get a second hand washing machine or something x
if the cats aren’t spayed/ neutered they definitely should be, as it usually solves the marking problem pretty well. A lot of shelters will do it for cheap/ free depending on what programs they have going on and if your friend is low income.
I've found that vinegar works far better than Windex or other glass cleaners available at the stores. Especially on kitty nose prints. It can be diluted with water, and if the odor bothers you just know it's temporary. It's also a great degreaser and kills a lot of germs. Cheaper and safer than most chemicals as well. I love it for the kitchen because I don't have to worry if there is over spray or if I accidentally missed wiping some up since it's safe to ingest. I don't even bother with the stronger cleaning vinegar, just plain old white vinegar for cooking works just fine
Hi, Gabbi. One of these episodes, 3, popped up automatically after something I was watching so I watching the series again. When you get to 2nd closet and you're concentrating on that corner where the cat's peed, don't know if you treated the carpet in that corner. I'm sure pee went into carpet and pad. Carpet should have been treated all around the perimeter of rooms where you saw pee. Curious. Did you ever go back and did they maintain or sort of after you deep cleaned?
The house I cleaned for my friend her cat used the master bedroom closet as a litter box ..it was awful.... Everything on the floor had to be thrown out..she thought I was going to clean it all and wash the clothes on the floor..but no no mam not me
Can you introduce this person to Flylady or clutterbug or one of the other programs out there? I had to slow myself down and realize that packaging has a home too, and not tossed in the back bedroom after I got whatever it came in. As far as the cats I have a black light to identify urine and an enzyme scent remover for deer hunting, smells horrid but works great, and Shout brand pet spray. I have 4 boxes that are in bathrooms and my laundry room and scoop daily, change every two weeks. It’ll be tough to retrain them but it can be done. Good luck!
The home appears to be a rental? No personalization, maybe some homey touches might help in motivating to keep nice. Also those closet doors can be turned around and a pretty peel and stick can be applied to the back. I know I dislike those doors, have them in my rental.
I cannot believe there are apartments without laundry facilities. That's ridiculous! Also, since you don't know what they might have or their animals and because of the filth that usually comes with pests please use a disinfectant when you so generously do their laundry. Try adding Lysol disinfectant that you add to the laundry.
He must have had depression very bad to get it in that state good of you to do it for him if he is out at work all day that’s why the cats or dirty is not there fault if they can’t get out it was pretty disgusting did a very good job
I don’t have a comment about the house but rather your cleaning style. I noticed after spraying you use a dry microfiber cloth. Is that better than using a wet cloth? I was just wondering since any cleaning tips I can get are greatly appreciated.
im not sure if its any better or worse, i just like using the dry ones so there isnt a bunch of dripping going on and its absorbing a bunch of the ickiness instead of spreading it around... this is my theory at least! lol
How do they get groceries and cigarettes? I mean, if they can get out and get those things, I'm pretty sure they can figure out how to get to a laundromat.
Love your cleaning and decluttering episodes in this house Your a tireless worker I think I must be getting old and jaded because I’m sick of the rubbish cat mess. Poor kitty. I’m a cat owner that cat lives outside during the day. I’m also aware of people having depression but to watch tv 📺 play video games and stay on their phones without taking the rubbish out of the house and put dishes into dishwasher and clean up after yrself is all too common these days Less is best Like in our grandparent days No dishwasher. No excess clothes no food wastage or rubbish in house. Keep yourself clean and pay your bills on time That’s my rant for today I’m not a Karen I have cleaned for people. Taken their rubbish to the tip at my own cost and ran errands for them The world 🌎 has gone crazy. No wonder people get evicted from their rentals for treating the house unit with filth Sorry. But that’s how I feel Anyone else feel the same ???
Throwing cigarettes all over the floor can cause fire,,,,,they really need to be shown how to clean and to take care of themselves. But this lovely girl who is helping them with everything is too kind to them, she is babysitting them and she is not their mum. They are just using her.
How do you find someone like you to hire? Spent a year living with my sick sister taking care of her... I didn't keep up my own apartment. It's not nearly like that one, but it is overwhelming to me and its to sort and clean. Any ideas? A house cleaner? Or professional organizer?
Are you doing this for free? I'm just curious why you would go back after you've cleaned and they don't seem to appreciate it by not keeping up with the house?
Yes,,i wonder that too,,,maybee she feels like she is their mum. She has her own family to take care of so the 2 depressed guys does not need babysitting them.
You may have felt overwhelmed because you brought their stuff home with you. Their chaos was brought into your house. I wouldn't feel comfortable doing that also because you could bring unwanted pests to your house. They need some social services to assist with some of their issues.
The cats need to be neutered, that's probably why they're marking territory. If they're already neutered but still marking, then it's probably due to the poor /unsanitary environment and their feelings (unease /not safe, probably) that keep them feeling the need to mark territory.
The people who really need our help are old people, who are helpless, bedridden, or demented, or simply can't physically do home cleaning. Why don't you help them instead of coming back to some mentals who will shit their homes in no time after your hard work. Some children don't visit their old parents for years, don't do anything for them, and it's sad. And those old people who worked all their lives, can't even afford help, unless they are on medicaid. Why not to help them? I see you're a good person, have good intentions, but helping mental people is useless, while helping old people is the best thing you can do
I feel that you have a good heart to work so hard, but these people are taking advantage of your kindness. They are lazy and don't care how they live. Throwing cigarette butts on the floor should be an indication of their style of behavior. Go find someone who would really love your help.
The poor cats 🐈 are pooping everywhere because they feel like there in jail. They want to go outside Poor cats living in filth If a window was open they could make a run for freedom 🐈🐈🐈😻😻😻
I would call the animal shelter to take them because this is animalcruelty. Theese 2 guys can not take care of themselves,,, so they cannot for sure take a good care of theese poor cats.
The fact that they destroyed everything you worked so hard to clean up is really disrespectful & disgusting. If someone did that to me after the massive amount of work I did to help them I would cease all activities. What’s the point of breaking your back cleaning their house if they just destroy it again in a week? Throwing cigarette butts on the floor all over the place, going to the bathroom on the floor etc. Totally unacceptable.

My goodness you are a good soul...
I cannot believe there are apartments without laundry facilities. That's ridiculous! Also, since you don't know what they might have or their animals and because of the filth that usually comes with pests please use a disinfectant when you so generously do their laundry. Try adding Lysol disinfectant that you add to the laundry.
Great video!
You are a very good person. I wonder why the person did not get the chest of drawers out and had you do it? Not a judgement...just wondering
Lazyness,,,,,
What cleaner are you using in the sprayer?
He must have had depression very bad to get it in that state good of you to do it for him if he is out at work all day that’s why the cats or dirty is not there fault if they can’t get out it was pretty disgusting did a very good job
Awesome
Yes,,,,,they sure do not need babysitting....
They have a 'disorder'. That's why.
8:35 There are videos of a guy who does furniture restorations and he could probably fix that dresser in his sleep. Unfortunately, he's in Estonia.
❤❤❤
can you clarify something pls, is all this mess made by just 1 person???
Love your cleaning and decluttering episodes in this house
Your a tireless worker
I think I must be getting old and jaded because I’m sick of the rubbish cat mess. Poor kitty. I’m a cat owner that cat lives outside during the day. I’m also aware of people having depression but to watch tv 📺 play video games and stay on their phones without taking the rubbish out of the house and put dishes into dishwasher and clean up after yrself is all too common these days
Less is best
Like in our grandparent days
No dishwasher. No excess clothes no food wastage or rubbish in house. Keep yourself clean and pay your bills on time
That’s my rant for today
I’m not a Karen I have cleaned for people. Taken their rubbish to the tip at my own cost and ran errands for them
The world 🌎 has gone crazy.
No wonder people get evicted from their rentals for treating the house unit with filth
Sorry. But that’s how I feel
Anyone else feel the same ???
Throwing cigarettes all over the floor can cause fire,,,,,they really need to be shown how to clean and to take care of themselves. But this lovely girl who is helping them with everything is too kind to them, she is babysitting them and she is not their mum. They are just using her.
Anyone else notice Futurama playing in the background in the mirror reflection?
How do you find someone like you to hire? Spent a year living with my sick sister taking care of her... I didn't keep up my own apartment. It's not nearly like that one, but it is overwhelming to me and its to sort and clean. Any ideas? A house cleaner? Or professional organizer?
Where are you located? I might be for hire if you're in my area 😊
@@juliecairns9644 San Francisco Bay Area
@@Mimi-fe2gm oh darn, I'm in Vegas. Hopefully you're able to find someone.
@@Mimi-fe2gm where in the Bay Area?
I feel for these people because not having a washer and dryer in your building is a real inconvenience
People can afford two dirt bikes but they can't afford laundry machines. Uh huh. We have to re-arrange our priorities here.
Hi west magic said hi ❤
Mid west magic cleaning said hi ❤
🌺
As a second generation professional cleaner. You take the to the laundromat
😇😇
Use a mop to wash the walls, and use Nature's Miracle to digest the cat pee. Boy, your arms must be tired!
Wow, a depressed person with the motivation to iron?!?!? (4:55)
they had a job interview that day, so there was some hope in the air!
Cats do that when their boxes aren’t not kept up to their standards.
You may have felt overwhelmed because you brought their stuff home with you. Their chaos was brought into your house. I wouldn't feel comfortable doing that also because you could bring unwanted pests to your house. They need some social services to assist with some of their issues.
Weren't you grossed out cleaning out that desk? I was
🇹🇹 👍🏽👍🏽
Please don’t tell me you picked up the laundry with your bare hands and washed that I your own washing machine!
She did. Theese 2 depressed guys are using her like a mum who does everything for them.
I'm sorry but the cats would be GONE!
They want to go outside Poor cats living in filth
If a window was open they could make a run for freedom
🐈🐈🐈😻😻😻
I would call the animal shelter to take them because this is animalcruelty. Theese 2 guys can not take care of themselves,,, so they cannot for sure take a good care of theese poor cats.
Une video pour un placard c est nul
If they haven’t worn or used it in the past year it should be thrown away. They also might need therapy for clinical depression.
