Our Winter Camping Shelter gets a New Addition - The Big Stove has Arrived!

  • We head back to the wildness shelter with a whopper of a wood stove in tow. A night of winter camping in the snow awaited us but first we'd have to install the stove and make sure all was working fine. While the temperatures went below freezing overnight, the new addition kept as warm in our shelter. We also enjoyed a nice meal cooked on the new stove. Thank you for joining us and we hope you enjoy!

Maybe a small fire pit outside the tent using some of the stones you did not use for the shelter. That way you can carry a shovelful of coals for your stove when ready to relax and sleep without getting too hot. I imagine you will really feel that heat in the spring when the evenings end nights are warmer.
A lot of options inside and outside around your tent to enjoy and be comfortable.
Thanks for sharing. You are a wonderful couple to watch and visit.

long ago, while in the army, we had to set up a hex tent in the winter. we had a small stove and a pipe that went out like yours. we thought we secured the flap but as we were eating chow, we saw a flicker and looked up and the flap was on fire.....we put it out with snow. all was good. be careful, be safe. i like the stove that damper should help a lot in keeping the heat in longer and having a slower burn.

Then you would have a stock pile of wood close by to use instead of having to go out in the freezing weather to gather the wood for the stove. Thanks for the videos, they have given me ideas.
