Douglas! Can I ask if you have done the Inverness HM? I'm hoping to do it next year. It's on March the 12th. I was wondering if you have done it & if you could please tell me how it was? Thanks! 👌👍🏃🏃🏃🏃🏃
Great video Douglas.. 😁my friend and I ran the 10k b4 it then stood on the last bridge b4 the end cheering on the half's (with my tambourine obvs).., 😂well done.. 👍🏻🏃♂️x
Not sure where I caught you up but finished just over a minute before you. Had started in green wave as I signed up last year when I hadn't been running long. Much faster now and you were definitely taking it easy as well! The 10k marker was definitely the halfway point cause I had 10.74 on my watch passing that.
Nice, great running Hargo! I think that happens to quite a lot of people - my friend was also in the green wave initially, but she went in on Saturday and got changed to white.
Very nicely Captured 👌. I started just ahead of you in the race and I vlogged it too. 😀. Managed to catch eilish mccolgan at the 10k first. What a great day out. Dropped you a Subscription too. Top work mate.
Congratulations Douglas on completing the Great Scottish Run half marathon, wonderful video, lovely medal as well, do the runners still get a T Shirt or a goody bag as they used to?
Thanks Alan 😃 Yeah, there was a goody bag at the end. It contained the medal, tech t-shirt, a clif bar, bottle of water and a few other bits and bobs. It’s a nice t-shirt!
Great running! Heard there was a bit of a mix-up with the course distance, maybe that explains the oddly-place signs! On a different topic, could you suggest a good Glasgow parkrun for wet weather? I like Victoria but water collects in several massive puddles and you can't avoid them!
Thanks David 😃 I believe it was just the 10k route that was affected, which doesn’t go out as far as Pollok, so that one is still a mystery! I’ve ran Elder in wet weather a few times recently and that seems to cope well. Not had to dodge any puddles.
Good video. I’ve just done the GNR and found that it was so busy that I couldn’t get into any rhythm at all. The GSR looks nicely spread out despite 20-30k people running(?). Is it easy to get into a rhythm for all runners or did you start fairly near the front? Thanks.
Thanks Heinz! I started in the middle wave this time, so definitely nowhere near the front. It’s a bit congested for the first 500m or so, but it’s a very wide road you start on and the field quickly spreads out. I’ve never had an issue getting into a rhythm any of the 3 times I’ve taken part.
Nice video Douglas. I was scouring UA-cam for vids on this because I always like to see it and they didn't televise it this year. Good to go at a semi-leisurely pace and enjoy it much more - I might try that next year.
Thanks Troy 😊 That’s unusual for it to be televised - I wonder why that was? I was pretty much forced to take it easy - I’ve had a niggling injury that’s prevented me running longer distances, so not been able to train for the half marathon distance. Fortunately it’s getting better now after a lot of strength of conditioning, but it at least meant I was never going to be tempted to race it!
@@Scottishparkruns London marathon was on so GSR didn't get a slot. You're right about the start- I done it to fast the time I ran it and paid for it in the 2nd half- oof
Hi there! It’s definitely not flat, but I wouldn’t say it was hilly. You have the initial climb up St Vincent street, but since that’s right at the start you don’t really notice it. The main hill would be the one in Pollok Park around the half way point. After that it’s pretty much flat to the finish, except for a wee bump in Bellahouston Park. There’s definitely flatter half marathons around (I think the Edinburgh ones are pretty flat), but I do enjoy the GSR as it’s very well supported along most of the route. Never underestimate how much a good crowd can keep you going 😃 In short - yes I’d recommend it. It’s a great experience 😄
Superb video Douglas. Really enjoyed that.
Thanks Alan, much appreciated! Great run from yourself btw 💪 I’d love to be back running sub-90 again.
Great stuff Douglas thanks for taking us along with you. The weather looked great for it. 👍🏃🏃🏃🏃🏃🏃🏃🏃🏃🏃🏃🏃🏃
Thanks Liz! Yeah, we were really lucky with the weather given how wet and windy it’s been in the days before and after the race.

Great video! This was my first half marathon I ever done and I also got confused with the 10km marker! Was a great atmosphere
Thanks Natasha 😃 And congratulations on your first half marathon 🎉

Did this last year and was wondering about doing it again, i think you might have inspired me towards it.
Awesome! Good luck if you decide to do it 😃
Great video Douglas. If you'd hung around you would have seen me limping over the finish line much later.
Thanks Aileen! At least you finished it 😃 Good luck with the recovery 🤞
@@Scottishparkruns Indeed it was all about finish line and not finish time.
good bit of route knowledge there Douglas. well done mate
Thanks Ted! That was my 3rd time doing it so fairly comfortable with the route now 😃
Very amazing video bro, hopefully in the future it will get better again. Thank you very much❤❤
Thank you!

Tollcross is the best Glasgow park run although the XC alternative course is hard.

Ah of course! At least London will be back to April next year, so hopefully the GSR will be back on the telly in 2023.
Hello! Do you recommend this for someone running there first half marathon? It seems to hilly and scaring me lol x
