I’m starting my school psych program this fall and your channel has been a really big help to me as far as preparing and making my decision to apply. Thank you for these videos!
it's definitely preferred/necessary for doctoral programs but not as heavily emphasized in school psych eds programs. If you have an opportunity to participate or find a research lab that interests you, I would definitely try to get some experience!
Thanks for the tips. I'll be a jr in college in fall so I still have a little time but not much. With grad school on the first day is it like clue ge where the professors talk about the syllabus and the class or do they go right into teaching the class?
Jordan Crowley this is a great question! It depends on your professor but most will start with the syllabus and class expectations like college. Since the classes are longer, they usually include the first lecture or introductions too. I’ve had one or two classes that expected us to do some reading before the first day but most weren’t like that.
Thanks for the video! I'm looking into programs and want to do a specialist program for now. If I decide I wanted to get a doctorate later in child psychology, are there any fast tracks for people that already have a specialist masters degree in child psychology/education? I tried looking but I couldn't find anything and was wondering if you know of any.
Hi Stephanie! I know that some programs allow you to sub classes if the doc program is in school psychology but I'm not quite sure about clinical. I'm actually interested in going that route in the future and will continue doing my research! I'd rather not be in school for another 5 years after my master's if I don't have to!
