My great grandmother was an immigrant that went to Honduras to find work and after the war erupted she was among the huge wave of Salvadorans returning to El Salvador. She survived this war and the Salvadoran Civil War and has passed away yesterday September 7th 2020 due to the Coronavirus here in Texas. Her memory will always live on. Adios Abuelita 💕

@@TheDigitalApple she left for the us when she was already an elderly woman I believe it was 2013 when she got here and I was there when she left when we visited, my guess is because things weren’t all that perfect at that time because of the president who took the money and left the country. She would live her new life here in Texas where she had a puppy who she loved a lot though to this day that puppy hates me, her ashes were taken to El Salvador last month

Actually Nicaragua supported Honduras, they sent jet fighters, ammunition, guns, planes and other resources to Honduras because Somoza was bestfriends with Lopez Arellano. My grandpa is El Salvador, and my dad is Hondurian, my dad was about 6-7 years old when this war broke out, he remembers it vividly. That was the day my grandpa fought for his life with a machete, he fled to El Salvador bleeding, he barely made it alive. It would be another 8-10 years before my dad saw his dad again. What people don't realize, is that before the war people of El Salvador and Honduras lived side by side in Honduras, worked together, played with each other, married each other. This was a gruesome war that turned families/ neighbor's on each other.

My Grandpa's best friend and neighbor was hondurian, that morning he came running outaide to find 5 or 6 hondurians had hung my grandpa to a tree by his arms, they were stabbing him with sticks and machetes. My Grandpa's best friend grabbed a machete and fended them off, they said and I quote, "your a traitor, if you want to defend this salvadoran, we will kill you too" he said, "that's fine, kill me, but I'll be sure to take 3 of you with me".
They backed off. They told him "You saved him today, but tomorrow we will not be 6 men, tomorrow we will be 20-30 men, if we find you protecting him tomorrow, we will kill you and your entire household"
My dad saw all of this.
That night my grandpa's best friend took him to the border, and dropped him off.

As a site note, this war was also later on known as the war of the hundred hours, given its duration (roughly 100 hours). Thanks for doing a video on my country's (El Salvador) history, I honestly never expected it. I love your videos!

Thank you for the info. I thought the dispute was just over land , but apparently over flow of Salvadorian nationals into Hounduras causing friction with local farmers adds to it. My Father fought in the *100 hour war/Football War… Leaving the military he transition into Hounduras Secret Service protecting the president. He has a few pictures of his platoon & a couple protecting the President. He moved to the states in the early 70’s, retired now at 86yrd old🙌🏾😎✌🏾

My family comes from a border region on the border of El Salvador. There were many Hondurans working the fields because El Salvador had USA currency. There was also this military post that had men walking on the Salvadoran side because of the Football war.
The real football war took place on July 8 2014 where Germany invented a new form of the Blitzkrieg against Brazil.

I had learned about this and the Salvadoran civil war from my Dad when I was around 12 while looking through some old family photos. My Dad told me about how his older brother fought in this war and how he(my dad) fought for both sides of civil war when it happened, he joined up with the FMNL, left and then later got drafted by the military

I saw that about the Brazilian Expeditionary Force and it was called that cus smoking snakes are impossible so they called themselves the "smoking cobras"cus they fought it was impossible to get themselves organized and ready for combat (but they did) ,they only suffered (roughly)3,521 casualties and played a big part in the battle of the Atlantic
