- In this video Grizzly Jim talks us through using a bow stringer. Although there are many ways of stringing a bow, we always recommend using a stringer. its by far the safest way for both you and your bow.... enjoy!

Thank you for not making this a ten minute video. Much appreciated. Too many channels doing that for very simple things!
Glad it was helpful!
I just got back to archery after a 7 year-long hiatus and needed a refresher. Thank you so much!
You get right to it, speak clearly, and have a slick production. Exactly what I'm looking for in a how-to video. Really appreciate it.
My goodness, a simple straight to the point video that actually gets the information across. This video is a unicorn lol. Thank you!
Thanks for this video, there were many others I watched which were not helpful at all, they were either not using a bow stringer like this or the video was 20 minutes long etc. This was very simple and informative and I de-strung my bow in about 5 seconds. Thanks very much!.
I know this is an old video but this totally helped me string my new recurve bow. Thanks a billion!! 😊
So grateful that you are clear and concise. You present a wonderful, no nonsense lesson and demonstration.
Very helpful! I’ve been shooting compound bows for a couple years but still fairly new to archery. Got my first recurve now and struggled to string it until this video. Made it simple. Thank you!
A good straightforward demonstration, thank you so much!
Yes excellent video. Straight to it. First time stringing a 60lb recurve or any bow for that matter. I was one of the scariest things i've ever done but your video gave me the confidence to do it.
Thank you for not wasting 20 minutes explaining the ancient origins of it.
lmao
this video was very helpful as i have been an archer for years, however, believe it or not, i've never had to unstring and/or string up my bow. i've had one that doesn't require a bow stringer to unstring/string it up. so thank you for this video i'll be sure to come back whenever i forget a step to stringing!
Thanks! It's been a while and I forgot how. Mine is different, but your directions were really good so I had it on quick.
I literally gave up on the bow stringer when I saw how long everyone's videos were. This is perfect great video and so easy. Thank you
I like how you explained this--very precise and straight to the point. 👍
Great video plain n simple n straight to the point✌🏾🙏🏾
Bought a bow lots of video how to string a bow, hard to find video to unstring it ,we all have to learn how to correctly and safely do it thanks for sharing sharing I feel more confident now 🙏😊😎
Thanks for the video! Needed a refresher after getting my bow and this was super helpful to remind me of the string positioning
Great video and a wonderful presentation. You have good sound and video and the content is right-on. Thank you
Thank you for solving such a complex yet Simple mystery. I am lucky I didn't hurt myself pre watching this video
Straight to the point and clear instructions. This is my first video of yours but I will definitely be checking out the rese
I just ordered one of these... used to string my bows the old fashioned way using my legs to bend it... but lost my left leg below the knee in 2018 and some times I struggle with it now and then my lower prosthetic is carbon fiber and titanium... not good for my bows... LOL! Thank you for the review for me... I liked this one the best of all to cover all my bows in the recurve as well as longbow and such line... think it will even work for my Mongolian Horse Bow I love but my others definitely... any way thank you for the video review of this type... many other types but this one is simplest of them all... appreciate this.
Well done! Right to the point and you included important aspects others didn't. One thing. This is the first time I'm stringing a bow and the string is stiff out of the bag. There is a channel down the top and bottom where the string sits in. The new string is stiff so it didn't naturally fall into that channel. After doing this 100's of times you forget what it is like the first time.
Great video man. Just did it to my bow.
Thanks for share your knowledge, very helpful!
Thank you so much for this video, easy to view, & good instruction. Well done.
Regards, Keith.
Thanks! I was struggling so hard to do this the first time.
Simple, sweet, and to the point. Thank you!
I never really bought into these, the step through method has alway been just fine for me.
Same here
the value would be after spending many hours shaping and tillering a piece of wood into a bow, preventing a cracking sound using the step through method. lol although a store bought fiberglass recurve can handle the step through method as i have proven in my younger days.
Apparently it could potentially warp the limbs using the leg method, or so I was told...
Thank you! Great tutorial!
Thanks for a clear tutorial on this.......I have always done it with my inside step with bottom limb tucked into the inside of my boot.......works just fine till you are nearly seventy......when de stringing is a fuss of strength and dexterity. My other way was/is the Horse-Bow ...around the back of your leg....step through the string....bend the bow around your bum and it works too. But I got a stringer like yours on ebay and its so easy and simple and I stick to it now......but you included a few good extra tips and I now know how to use it properly and effectively, Thanks for that
Thanks for the video. I just got into archery, and this video helps.
Glad it helped
Thanks helped so much happy new year :D
Thanks mate. Made it look easy, and it was easy :)
Please make a video on broadhead basics and installing broadheads on traditional carbon arrows. Thanks!
This was very helpful thank you so much
Thank you for that, Mate - cheers!
Excellent video!
Very Good, excellent vídeo friend!
Brasil!
This was great video, thanks!
Where did you get your stringer? I like that design.
I think Amazon sells them.
These things will make your life super easy!
Well done. 👍
Excellent video. No waffle. Cheers.
Nice video. Thanks brother. I forgot how to use my stringer 😅
Hello, does this type of bow stringer work for a longbow?
Perfect!
It takes a “British” guy to explain in simple and straightforward terms, well done many thanks.
What type oof bow string do you recommend for 70lb recurve the bow string i got with it mine doesn't look like yours are you using Flemish please help.
Hi im new to archery and my recurve bow string came as around 10 seperate strands, could anyone help on what i have to do to make it one string
What would you recommend for second best stringing method? Maybe a bit of a silly question, since of course a stringer is your best bet. But I happen to not have stringer at the moment, and I don't fancy damaging my bow's limbs
At a pinch... i'd say the push pull method. there is a little less chance of twisting the limbs, like is possible with the step through method. i'll get around to do a video on the different methods one of the days :)
+MerlinArchery okay, thanks for the info. I've been using it since I heard stringing around your leg may damage the limbs. It's a bit clumsier though :( need to get used to it more I reckon
Very helpful
Hi,
If you were to use the little loop on the top and the bigger loop on the bottom , when stinging the bow , would that male any difference ?
I ask because there is not enough serving part on the string below the nock point , where it hits the arm guard and there is excess serving above the nock .
I was thinking if I turn the string so , the little loop on the top and the bigger loop on the bottom , so the excess that was on the top would now hit the arm guard .
Or is that just a big no no thing do , I am new to archery
Thanks 😊
THANK YOU
My bowstringer looks completely different from this type. So different I can't figure out if I can use this video. 😕
Does anyone have any recommendations on any other techniques?
Turns out I wasn't doing it wrong, I just actually was that out of shape! But I guess that's part of the point of picking up a physical new hobby after all. Definitely not as spry as I was at summer camp 15 years ago!
Thanks bro
Thanks!
thank you
I cannot string this bow I just made, it's upwards of 100lbs, any tips?
What kind of bow is that. Brandnname
Holy crap. Do they work with horsebows?
nice
I have a 64’ 50# recurve and it’s a lot harder than that it’s easier with two people
Please, What bow is it?
I keep getting my stinger stuck on the bow once its strung! Idk what I'm doing wrong! 😭
Use a stringer twenty dollars investment will save you a lot of stress
Twenty dollars? That's like a week's wage for millions of workers in the world.
I made mine for 20 cents.
how long can you leave your bow strung?
It's good to unstring it after shooting, but you can leave it strung indefinitely. At the risk of the limbs possibly losing tension over a long period of time.
Depends on the care, I wouldn't recommend to have it constantly strung as it's best to unstrung it after every use
Just string it up as you're going out to shoot, then unstring afterwards
Survival Lilly uses that bow
mandarin duck phantom
What now is that?
Hello fellow archer friend, wanna collab someday?
show a video of stringing 55#.
you do in 1 minute, what many do in 6
I can't do it wtf
lol
Just got my bow and from what it seems by stringer was shitty, it broke. The ends were made of leather. It came with the bow...
The video shows stringing of a very light bow (probably 40#). Weight change isn't linear, 50# is far tougher than 45# and short bows art tougher than, say, 64".
Its easy for 54" 56" bow..not for 66"68" or 70" bow..
Will everybody please stop saying destring!🤬🤬🤬
The w9ord is UNSTRING?!!
if everybody is saying it, maybe unstring is wrong? 🤷♂️😅😉
That's fine with a wimpy bow (45# or less) but it's tough with a man's bow (e.g. 55# or more).
nGon- your post is irrational.
I have like a 30 year old bow my grandpa gave me and stringing it was way mote terrifying than it looks in video, and its only a 45#
I've found using a stringer is easier for high poundage bows. I had a 60# recurve that I couldn't even string with the step through, had to use the stringer.
And women can definitely shoot 55# bows if they train for it. Most guys who don't do archery can't even shoot a 55# bow.
