@@joseibarra2888 The razor itself doesn't really matter that much. Merkur is a decent brand that's quite cheap. For blades I'd go with Feather double edge blades.
Got the handle and a couple of cartridges free from Gillette recently, used one today and think im going to switch to these over the proglide! Cuts close enough for me, even if its not *as* close as them, for the comfortability & lessened irritation its worth it.
I'm not usually a fan of sponsorsed videos, but you were so transparent and honest about it that I watched all the way through. Thanks for all the content!
The Gillette Skin Guard is a great way to shave! Especially if you have course, curly hair. Personally and I'm talking about myself here now, I found that pressing the razor on my face was a main cause of the irritation that I was experiencing. It wasn't until after prepping my face and letting the heft of the blade do the work that my shaves became smoother and less irritating. Gillette's Skin Guard is the best way to shave on a semi-regular basis to avoid razor bumps and or skin irritation!
I love Gillette. Gillette fusion proshield flexball chill, Gillette skinguard,mach3 turbo.they are the best razors in the market! After in my head or face thayers witch hazel cucumber and Gillette aftershave balm sensitive skin or gillette aftershave gel sensitive skin. I use creams or soaps, sometimes Gillette shaving gel Gillette. I love Gillette .the blades are the best
I will continue to watch and support you. I find you to.be honest and entertaining. I will NOT EVER buy or care about anything anti male Gillette. As a consumer it's my only answer to their anti male agenda. See the next video have a great day.
I really don't want to support Gillette, but I've been using this razor since it became available here in Canada. I have very bad eczema, and always avoided a close shave because of how easily my skin gets damaged while shaving. This razor has never given me any problems with my skin, and I am extremely happy with how it makes my face feel. I usually prefer products with less perfumes and solvents because of my skin, but I am using their cooling shave gel instead of the pure gel because I appreciate the menthol.
I recently starting buying the Gillette Pro Fusion 5 gel and razor blades. I was always intimidated with saving given how thick and curly my hair can get. I was surprised on how easy and comfortable I felt shaving. It was such a nice feeling, and was only left with a few bumps. Over time, I'm getting better with shaving. Gillette has a new life time customer. Your review was great!
Not sure about the US, but in my country Gillette is overpriced. Haven't used their blades in years, cheap blades work just as well and for just as long for me.
Love you man, but I’ll never use Gillette again. But I think a great review idea would be 3 cheap safety razors, and 3 decent safety razors or a mix. I think these double edged razors are my favorite for close clean shaves. I personally had a nice German one, but gave it to my dad and now use the one on display at target and am also loving that one as well.
For shaving cream, foam or gel and for the sharpness and quality of razor gillette products are unbeatable but! A cheap razor with gillette blade and gillette shaving cream or gel will give better shave than any costly machines or products or any other cheap products. Shaving machines are only good for travel dry shaving.
As an African American male I was super excited when they razor came out, since it doesn't take the hair under the skin I was excited to be able to be able to get a close shave again, well it FAILED! Im actually sitting here with 32 (Yes I counted them) 32 ingrown hairs on my face as I type this, it absolutely did not work for me, I noticed on the Gillette UA-cam video that has a black guy using this razor the comments are disabled, I WONDER WHY!!? and its the Gillette UA-cam channel, thats very shady, will never buy Gillette products again.
Ermas Doodles Highly HIGHLY suggest you use a safety razor, the single razor sharp blade cuts hairs clean off no tugging or pulling. With the right technique (not difficult) you can get a close shave with no irritation. Not to mention they’re WAY cheaper than cartridge razors.
Safety razors has been my go to for shaving as cheaper than those cartridges razors. Look up on safety razors and you be surprised on the prices of those safety razors and blades.
Neat idea, but these things are so expensive. I use Astra blades and, for $9, get 100 of em. I just can't justify Gillette and their expense when I can get a few years worth of blades for the same price. The one trick I've learned is to shower before shaving. Helps open your pores and just make everything easier on your face.
I like you and support you. I think Gillette made a great product, but they lost my confidence with bad PR and their product has become toxic to me. #Gillette
I loved the 'had to mortgage my house to buy a pack of 3 blades' line, so true. I would not mind but as they have joined the anti-men forces they will never get another dollar of my money.

James, don't worry about doing a sponsored video. I still found it very informative and you give us constant content, this isn't much different from your other kinds of videos. Make some money man, while it's still available. Too many ad issues on UA-cam, if someone doesn't like a sponsored video they don't have to watch them 😁
I enjoy your channel, but I'm very tired of woke capital, Gillette has lost me as a customer for life, the only way they can redeem themselves at this point would be to fund the wall.
I still don't know why people stick to these cartridge razors, when safety razors are effective as fuck, and cheap as well. Bought mine for $4, and the cheap razors for about $1 for 10 pcs. At first it looks like as if you can cut yourself, but honestly, it'd take a special kind of stupid to actually cut yourself with it. The difference of course, is that you only need ONE pass, compared to a cartridge razor wherein you'd need at least 2-3 to get a "clean" pass, at least for it to LOOK clean. Getting that baby butt smoothness is definitely something you need to work for with a cartridge razor, moreso if you've already used it a few times. In the end, you save yourself a ton of time + money sticking to a safety razor. There's a reason why "shaving enthusiasts" despise cartridge razors you know.
I pay what equates to almost 4¢ per shave from using a safety razor. The upfront cost is a little more than a disposable but I don't need shave soap, blades, or aftershave balm for another 2.5 years and my face feels better, I don't get razor bumps anymore and I've saved loads in shave gear.
I was a Gillette user for nearly 30 years. Two things finally made me switch to Schick. 1. Sky high prices for replacement blade packs. Got tired of chasing store managers to open up the glass case. 2. Their "toxic masculinity" adds which trashed all men. Really...insulting your target audience??? I switched to Schick and never looked back :)
The usual great video - BUT, after Gillette turned their back on their (male) customers I went with Harry's - superior quality and much more affordable.
Dollar Shave Club for me, and with my hair being so fine their basic humble Twin razor always gives me a great shave, plus it's only $3.80 every 2 months for a 5 pack of razor blades.

At least you know Gillette is owned by an even bigger company. I feel like a lot of people don’t realize they are and think that not buying Gillette will make a difference when they probably already buy something that is already owned by P&G
One of the guys I used to work with actually told me this trick because I shaved my head even though I have a full head of hair I shave my head quite regularly he said to avoid razor bumps or razor burn use conditioner instead of shaving cream or gel or whatever it is that you use I found that the conditioner works perfect at slicks their softens the skin at any time that I've ever used conditioner I've never had razor bumps or razor burn
I have sensitive skin and years ago switch to the old double edge safety razor and will never switch back! Once you learn the contours of you’ve face, it works better than any overpriced multi-blade razor out there at a fraction of the cost!!!
Although this post is three years old, I just had a similar experience today. I used a DE razor for the first time, and it was absolutely amazing, far superior to any cartridge razor. I regret not trying it earlier. Moreover, I experienced zero skin irritation at all. Which is AMAZING.
While I don't doubt it serves it's purpose this is an odd review to me. Razor bumps, when I used to get them, were not immediate and rarely with brand new blades.
Yeah, I haven't shaved in years (I have a luscious full beard that I get trimmed when I go to the barber) but from what I remember, razor bumps take a while to appear and happen most frequently with dull blades. Aside from that, why Gillette? I'm not even a snowflake who can't take criticism that doesn't apply to me because I treat women with respect, Gillette is just so damned expensive. I applaud them for making the ad they made, but I'd never buy their products, even if I was in the market for them. There are cheaper options that work just as well.
@@trucker0972 Yeah, I mean if there's money to be made then make it but all these complicated razor designs and one of the best and cheaper shaves I get is from a safety razor with a single blade
Does Gillette still make razors for men? I thought their hateful ad portraying most men as toxic POS was their way of leaving the market. I have NOT forgotten. Have you?
Interesting video. I use DORCO blades. I shave up, then down and finally across for a baby butt smooth face. Guess I have tough skin as I only use Dove soap and have never had a razor bump. And if I am running really late, I have already dry shaved. Lots of aftershave lotion after that and still no irritation. Guess I am lucky! I have been shaving for 62 years, so maybe that has given me tough facial skin. End of story.
I have used schick hydro 5's for close to a decade and they have always been a great shave. Each blade lasts up to 4 weeks so its good value for money overall. I finally decided to give the Gillette 5 blade system a go because it was on sale for half price and was wondering how it compares to the schick and the first shave was amazing but the second was not as good and by the 3rd shave the blades where dragging and leaving nicks and irritating my skin. So given the blades cost more than the Schick 5 blade system on average it's a lousy product. I'll be sticking to my Schick blades and a week later the bulk packs where on sale for half price so now I have over a years worth of blades in my draw so ill not be trying anything else for a long time now :)
Hey James, definitely support the idea of you taking more sponsored work as you deserve the extra cash, but Gillette is a no-go for me. Terrible company despite their razors. Please seek another sponsor.

What's wrong with gilette?
I literally just saw, for the first time ever, an ad for this razor play before another video and then this Freakin Review pops up in my recommendations. Coincidence? I don't think so. I can almost guarantee it's because I was looking up videos about the stereo sound on the "Razor" gaming phone. UA-cam's like, "oh, you're interested in razors? We got you."
Safety razor all the way.
This. 100% this. 100 pack of double edge blades?...11 bucks.
I also have a nice electric that I use for quick shaves, maintenance, etc. But, for serious shaves? Safety razor all day, every day.
YESS
Which saftey razor is the best?? I'm a beginner so if you could link a good saftey razor and blades the would be amazing!!!
@@joseibarra2888 The razor itself doesn't really matter that much. Merkur is a decent brand that's quite cheap. For blades I'd go with Feather double edge blades.
Those make me have more razor burn that normal razors no thanks
Got the handle and a couple of cartridges free from Gillette recently, used one today and think im going to switch to these over the proglide! Cuts close enough for me, even if its not *as* close as them, for the comfortability & lessened irritation its worth it.
I'm not usually a fan of sponsorsed videos, but you were so transparent and honest about it that I watched all the way through. Thanks for all the content!
toxic shitty ethics company! who shits on their main consumers and expects sympathy
Threw away all my Gillette products after I used them and I'm never buying new ones.
I would rather shave with a broken bottle than buy anything from PG. They messed up big time !!
But will it prevent me from cutting the skin on my adam's apple?
Only one way to find out.
I'm glad you stick to what products that You know work I have always respected your challenges and reviews. 😊☺
I will continue to watch and support you. I find you to.be honest and entertaining. I will NOT EVER buy or care about anything anti male Gillette. As a consumer it's my only answer to their anti male agenda. See the next video have a great day.
Bye snowflake.
@@7531monkey yea I'm the snowflake. Please stop I need protection and a puppy and a safe space. Boo hoo somebody save me
hahaha that's some quite fragile masculinity, you dummy
I really don't want to support Gillette, but I've been using this razor since it became available here in Canada. I have very bad eczema, and always avoided a close shave because of how easily my skin gets damaged while shaving. This razor has never given me any problems with my skin, and I am extremely happy with how it makes my face feel. I usually prefer products with less perfumes and solvents because of my skin, but I am using their cooling shave gel instead of the pure gel because I appreciate the menthol.
I use a safety razor and have for a few years. Totally worth the money and learning curve
Who needs shaving when you can look like a lumber jack?
Anyone who looks like a lumber jack.
I love how forward and upfront you were with the sponsored product. Very good to have transparency with your audience!
Amen, brother.
Try a double edge razor
Not sure about the US, but in my country Gillette is overpriced. Haven't used their blades in years, cheap blades work just as well and for just as long for me.
Same here in India
Same here in the US.
They're overpriced EVERYWHERE.
They are overpriced in Australia.
Happy purchaser of the OneBlade since you reviewed it. Never have to purchase 'conventional' blades again.... let alone from Gillette.
Gillette sucks, but I won't hold it against you
As an African American male I was super excited when they razor came out, since it doesn't take the hair under the skin I was excited to be able to be able to get a close shave again, well it FAILED!
Ermas Doodles
highly recommend a safety razor my friend
Ermas Doodles Highly HIGHLY suggest you use a safety razor, the single razor sharp blade cuts hairs clean off no tugging or pulling. With the right technique (not difficult) you can get a close shave with no irritation. Not to mention they’re WAY cheaper than cartridge razors.
James... I don't buy any Gillette products anymore. Glad you're getting paid but they made a big mistake with me.
Can’t stand Gillette as a company, will never buy a product from them ever!
I threw my Gillette razor away.
Great review!! My husband stopped buying Gillette after the crap they did!! He uses dollar shave club!!
Boycott everything. Don't listen to music. Don't leave your house. Don't shave.
What did they do?
@@cmortensen74 They started making sjw themed commercials that have NOTHING to do with their products.
@@BarberShave19 what is sjw commercials?
I like you and support you. I think Gillette made a great product, but they lost my confidence with bad PR and their product has become toxic to me. #Gillette
I stop buying Gillette. They became a propaganda company and I had to mortgage my house to buy a pack of 3 blades.
I'm a toxic male but only after coming out of a taco Bell washroom....
I loved the 'had to mortgage my house to buy a pack of 3 blades' line, so true. I would not mind but as they have joined the anti-men forces they will never get another dollar of my money.
Makes me think of the song “Well, I’m half the man I used to be” but now I’m using straight razors like model toxic male. Gillette no more.
I'm glad you're getting paid but disappointed in Gillette for getting political.
As an American who wants to buy American, I go with Schick.
@The Naikan No.
Is there an American company that hasn't offended you?
I was looking for a father’s day gift for my husband!! He has everything! This will be perfect. Thank you, for your videos.
I used this Gillette skinguard for a couple of weeks! I have the same razor bumps as before, with the other kind. Didnt do better, didnt do worse...
@Stijn 1995NL check the post I made above hope it helps.
As one who suffered from severe ingrown hairs and bumps in my youth, 35 years ago a gentleman advised me not to shave vertically(up or down), but horizontality (front to back, toward the ear). At 60 I still have a smooth even skin tone, no pits no pocks, no bumps. The best advice I ever got in a saloon that, and "don't get married".CVS now has generic blades for the Mach 3 I have been using for over 10 years.
Cool thank you! Im not in the usa sadly, but i heart that shaving with a shaver, where u put one blade in, are the best... so maybe im gonna give that a try. Also gonna put your tips to the test! Cuz i hate bleeding and having razor bumps :c
@@StijnNLDutch you're right I was told to use a single blade and did so for several years since it worked but then started with the mach3 and had no adverse effects. let your beard grow out a few days so the skin can heal, brush the hairs back toward your ear then shave in that direction. Good luck.
@@StijnNLDutch There are a lot of great tutorials on safety razors on UA-cam. I tried it for about a year but never quite got the hang of it have very tough beard and sensitive skin but maybe will work for you good luck!
Thanks for your OneBlade review been "shaving" with that for a year now. For years I either grew a beard or used Bump Fighter which clogged easily and has become harder to find. I gave this a shot after the OneBlade and didn't clog like Bump Fighter and no cuts, very impressed. Thanks!
Gillette is way too woke for me. I have two cartridges left and after that I’m going with Schick or Dollar Shave club. Never buying Gillette products ever again
Bone , I’ve personally never liked Schick. They have always given me bad razor burn. I’m a happy Dollar Shave Club customer (The Executive). You could also try Harry’s.
My friends and all the men in my family took all our Gillette products including our girlfriends and wives products to the gun range and gave it a good farewell
Just use a safety razor. Razor packs are only 5 bucks for 100
@@meezerluvr Been a long time Dollar Shave Club member myself, and with my hair being so fine, I get away with the Humble Twin for $3.80 shipped to my door every 2 months, and still have plenty of blades left over each shipment. BTW it's Pace who makes the blade for Dollar Shave Club, and it use to be cheaper to buy them in bulk direct from Pace till they recently started their own shave club.
Dollar shave has far better blades than Schick, and cheaper 😁
James, don't worry about doing a sponsored video. I still found it very informative and you give us constant content, this isn't much different from your other kinds of videos. Make some money man, while it's still available. Too many ad issues on UA-cam, if someone doesn't like a sponsored video they don't have to watch them 😁
I enjoy your channel, but I'm very tired of woke capital, Gillette has lost me as a customer for life, the only way they can redeem themselves at this point would be to fund the wall.
Me too on that note. The Wall.
@@glasswinder Me three!
You are my guilty pleasure, Freakin' Reviews.
I switched to Schick and never looked back :)
i like harry's cheaper and does the job great i shave my face and my head
Sorry, i'm not watching a Gillette sponsored post. Dollar shave club, baby!
comments are gold....
I'd rather shave with a serrated knife than buy a Gillette product.
Agreed.
Never, ever buy Gillette products! Use any razor but Gillette!
Gillette: "don't be a d**k dudes"
UA-cam Reviewer: "what's up guys! This is a good razer! Don't forget to like and subscribe!"
Internet: "Grab the pitchforks! Burn down Gillette and roll around in the ashes! #DollarShaveClub2020!"
James, Listen to your viewers. Dump Gillette and don't be apart of that collective...
You should have tried the house brand razor at Walmart. It's at least as good as a Gillette and only costs 1/4 as much!
Nah doesnt Work for everyone

Hahaha
Can a person safely shave their 🥜's with this razor. Asking for a friend. 🤨

Never buying Gillette personally almost gave up everything from Proctor and Gamble. But will give the company a pass and still buy my Old Spice, Tide along with other items.
At least you know Gillette is owned by an even bigger company. I feel like a lot of people don’t realize they are and think that not buying Gillette will make a difference when they probably already buy something that is already owned by P&G
@@SquishyZoran I've thrown out all the P&G products in my house!

A lot of people crying on these comments. That commercial did't make me mad in the slightest bit. Media will never make me upset about the man I am.
I love how he showed us at the store 2:20. Every time good reviews get better and better
Hey James, definitely support the idea of you taking more sponsored work as you deserve the extra cash, but Gillette is a no-go for me. Terrible company despite their razors. Please seek another sponsor.
Congrats on your first sponsored review!
It begins.......
i still have no idea what razor bumps are.
I think some people call them in-grown hairs. Makes red bumps on the skin
