Hey bro, do u think this is worth upgrading from my 38 inch 1600p LG? I’m eager to move to oled. I have a 4080 pc and I’m pretty much maxing out 1600p 144hz so 240hz 1440p wouldn’t be a problem. Only thing I’m worried about is the PPI + text clarity for productivity.
That’s a tough one, the PPI + Text Clarity is going to be worse, especially when it’s 3440 x 1440 vs 3840 x 1600. Eventually you’ll adjust, and at that point it’s up to you if you think it’s good enough. I feel like a 49-inch OLED monitor would be better because it would be 5120x1440 😅

I’m using a 4080 and have tried multiple cables. Am I missing something here, or is this monitor not capable of selecting 240hz 10-bit over in NVidia control panel? Lg support has been no help in this matter and I’m trying to figure out if my unit is defective. PLEASE HELP! Update: I noticed that NVCP panel will keep crashing or show a blank box for color depth after changing to 240hz. But interestingly, I noticed that I use “default color settings”, it defaults to 10-bit in windows. Does this mean that I’m in “limited” color range now? I’m also wondering if this is an issue with compatibility in NVCP panel. I got warning messages that my monitor was in unsupported 2160p, and games would close to windows shortly after. This maybe worth additional commentary for your review if you have similar findings. Looking forward to any advice :)
The Alienware for visual gaming because its 4k, high ppi, and QD-OLED. This LG is not 4k, low-ppi, and using W-OLED. QD has slightly better color, W-OLED has better black.
It’s a tough answer. If you’re primarily gaming, it’s a nice upgrade, for everything else, it’s a little mixed.
@FrankJackson I am in the same situation as u. Coming from a aw3423dwf > aw2725df >aw3225qf > back to aw2725df just because the 32 inch 4k is too big for my desk. For me, PPI is important since the higher the number, the more detailed and sharp it looks. It doesn’t play a huge role in gaming, but in everything else, PPI is noticeable. For example, let’s say you’ve been using a 32-inch 4K monitor (138 PPI) for a while and you replace it with this 39” 3440 x 1440 (96 PPI). Matte screen 🤮🤮🤮🤮. You have to be out of your mind to be buying OLED with a matte finish. It’s like buying a Ferrari with a Honda Civic engine, yeah it doesn’t make sense!!
A matte finish makes it easier to use in daylight and bright setups without glare. Some people don’t like seeing their own reflections or background with glossy displays. There’s pros and cons, but for most, matte makes the most sense

just picked this up yesterday at best buy for $500 off
How you like the monitor so far
@@miltona891 it’s been great. it’s got me wanting to get a second one but smaller. i’ll probably be getting the smaller 32” to go above the 39” soon.
Anybody, should I got with the 39in or 45in one. What’s better. I’m running 4090
almost did it, but i want one with a remote.
34 or 39?
I don't care what the back of the monitor looks like nobody's going to see it it's up against the wall so why worry about it
Funny thing. Currently trying both this monitor and the alienware aw2725df, and in my eyes, the alienware looks so plain.
theres also a huge difference in size 😅 Which are you leaning more toward to ?
@@FIREWOLFTECH I'm coming from a 27" 14hz TN panel, very simple. The LG 39" looks impressive, and not just the display but the whole thing. Also, i Have a 4080 so i don't think i'll be reaching the 344 FPS that the alienware can offer. Leaning towards the LG for now.
You could reach those but you gotta turn off all graphical settings 😅 depending on the game of course
VRR flickering?
Yes. Oleds suffer from it the worst
Had it. PPI was awful. took it back. Nice video
Thanks 🔥
Yeah the PPI is something you would need to experience to see if its a deal breaker 😅
Still on 38" LG IPS Ultrawide gaming screen with 3840x1600, dont know how long its gonna take, when they start to make 38-45" oleds with 1600p vertical space. Will it ever happen?
@@nem3th I heard Christmas 2024
I hated the PPI as well but I'm only using it to game so I overlooked it since I got it half off with best buy total tech
Ppi was so bad. Best experience I've ever had is on my c3 using nvidia for 3840×1800 true ultrawide. Great video though!
39inch to big for pc gaming? Im sitting close to my desk like 60-70cm so… 32inch or 34inch or 39inch?? Plz help me.
I want 4k and curved
It's too. Get educated.
The PPI is far too low... 110 is really the minimum.
Why
@@joshj1953 That's just what people found be the sweet spot for text sharpness. The only reason is preference for sharp enough text to feel like you have a modern display with nice text rendering.
come on lg give us glssy
matte display is a turn off. why can't they make the screen like their g3's and c3s?
2K :(
Yup, the matte coating is an automatic no for me. A pity they ruined another otherwise great monitor with it. If they ever bring out a glossy version I'll be first in line, until then I wont even consider it.
Why u want gloss?
Thinking about upgrading to that monitor, currently i got an 34" HP X34 which is great but only ips and 165hz. I feel that i might miss something haha, scared about burn in tho i want to use my monitor for at least 5 years.
