I was really looking forward to this monitor, but with this pricetag and no USB-C .. That is really disappointing 😒
Not to mention the brightness of this monitor. I would have thought it could get a lot brighter compared to the QD-OLED's 🤷‍♂
I think I will pass on this one tbh, since there is absolut 0 chance of me using that 480Hz mode anyway. I might end up getting the LG 32GQ950P-B instead, seeing as the price has gone down a lot over the past few weeks.

That bottom bezel makes this monitor look so good. I don't know why most monitors still have a larger bottom bezel, compared to the other sides.
Except for Zowie, they still use bezels from the 90s.

So much better than the grey blacks on QDOLED in anything but a dark room.

The G8 sucks in general for many other reasons, but yeah WOLED is much better for blacks and power efficiency. QD OLED is just a bit more vibrant but 99% of people won't notice the difference.

      Uuuhm, no...
I have a G8 QDOLED and this LG WOLED monitor. The differences in image quality are night and day.
The Samsung is much brighter, although the brightness of the LG should actually be higher according to the data sheet.
The LG is also so much darker that the colors almost look distorted.
But, in contrast to the Samsung, the LG offers a much more homogeneous and warmer image. The Samsung blasts its candy colors right into your brain.
The Samsung, on the other hand, offers better HDR. For example, the HDR10+ mode in Cyberpunk, which is not even shown in the options with the LG.
You can argue about which is better.
But I have now decided on the LG.

    Matte finish vs glossy QD-OLED, $1399 vs $899+ QD-OLED, zero burn-in warranty vs 3yr QD-QOLED.

Wait for the ASUS with WOLED then. Also WOLED is still less prone to burn in than QDOLED.

@@Alinho295 LG does offer a 2 year warranty for the panel including burn in as he says in the video. Others offer a 3 year warranty though and especially for the asking price that‘s a no go.
But like I said, ASUS will release a monitor with the same panel. Plus we‘ll see others like Gigabyte as well. So there‘s lots of competition and I expect the prices to drop. I won‘t buy one until autumn anyways. With Blackfriday etc. that’s the best time to shop tech. Until then I‘ll hold on to my current LG. Even when the red stripe sucks but at least it’s pretty much on the right and not in the middle of the panel. ASUS or Dell would‘ve just replaced the monitor as it‘d still be within warranty *sigh*. If I were to buy an LG again definitely only with a warranty extension.

It's DOA at the price they're asking.
The QD-OLED options are both cheaper and better, offering glossy panel coating, similar levels of SDR & HDR peak brightness, actual burn-in warranty. Minus that niche 1080p480hz mode.
I thought the LG WOLED panel would have better peak brightness levels with all that MLA tech they're marketing, but it seems to be gimped in this monitor to the point that it isn't any brighter than the competing QD-OLED panel.

depends on the region, in EU the Asus costs 1500EUR, while AW is around 1140EUR (incl. tax, varies slightly by country). If LG prices it reasonably then it will probably be less expensive than the Asus or at least same. But so far we have no info of pricing outside the US.

You didn't cover the Pixel Sound. You are the third major monitor youtuber who totally ignored that feature. If I purchase the Alienware, there is no headphone jack. I have to purchase a sound bar to use with consoles. That is another $175 to $999 (depending on the sound bar chosen) in order to get sound with the Alienware connecting to a console. The LG *IS* the speaker. Speakers are in the monitor, and the sound radiates from the screen. The LG is the only monitor to have that feature, and it shouldn't be ignored in reviews.

There's been a lot of discussion regarding the aggressive ABL behaviour of these new QD-OLED panels, which seem to be even worse on the PG32UCDm specifically.

well you clearly only use this mode for competitive games and never for desktop use or story driven gaming, in that case the difference in resolution hardly a problem. really need to take the use cases into account. for example most CS players play on 1280x960 on 1080p monitors, so 1080p mode here would be absolutely no problem apart from the physical size being rather big, but that can be easily solved by just moving the monitor further back. it's a very niche feature for sure and should only be relevant if you actually need more than 240hz but still want an incredible desktop experience.

    • @sawdust8691
      @sawdust8691 7 місяців тому +2

W-OLED is your common OLED display type.
From what I've seen, QD-OLED is newer and better in the sense that its colors are more vibrant and the screen more uniform. I think they usually can get a little brighter, too?
The main visual benefit is more color vibrancy.
I think it's the same technology as W-OLED, but it has a Quantom Dot layer in the panel(QD), that gives it it's even stronger colors and uniformity.

The main selling point of OLED for me has always been the glass panel. Matte looks dull even slightly off axis, as seen here with the LG versus the Asus. There's a reason the Apple section of Best Buy always has people standing there mesmerized. It's all the beautiful, bright, color saturated glass displays with inky deep blacks. Nearly all PC monitors are so lifeless and boring by comparison. Even bonded glass IPS looks far better to me than matte OLED.

For ESports the 1440p 360hz at 27'' would be much preferable to 1080p at 32''. I think they need to release this in a smaller size. I want to buy it, but only if they make a 27'' version. May just end up buying the 2725df at almost half the cost. I doubt 360hz to 480hz is very noticeable, especially at 1440p when even on CS2 your not running 480 fps very often.

  • @Mutio86

Why do some claim, no burn in warranty when he clearly says it does for 2 years. I‘d critic the time though, ASUS offers a 3 year warranty on the QDOLED 32 inch and I am sure they will offer one for the WOLED version as well.
Yes ASUS will offer a pretty much same speced version with an LG WOLED panel. I‘d definitely wait that one out and then you can really pick the best one for you. Remember that Gigabyte is also launching OLED monitors.

I had very high hopes for the new LG OLED panels, but this monitor is kind of fail (especially for that price point) compared to QD-OLEDs. No USB C port, no burn-in warranty, matte coating, QD-OLEDs are better calibrated in SDR and HDR, lower HDR brightniss in real scenario scenes, no Dolby Vision. Usable monitor speakers are nice, but you can fix that.

    • @noirelectrique8782
      @noirelectrique8782 6 місяців тому +1

glossy the light comes straight into the eyes which gives intense colors but also even dazzling whites. The surface takes reflections like a mirror. It is however quite pretty in a room when it is turned off. Matte screens greatly attenuate reflections, and the image is softer, a little less dazzling but with less intense colors. I personally prefer matte for a gaming/working/text PC etc. It's much more comfortable and relaxing when you spend time on it

Please don't fall for the shilling & grifting. I've seen the monitor, it has the absolute worst Matte finish on any modern monitor. I'm not a "glossy absolutist", this is just THAT bad. The warranty issue is secondary and appalling. Then there's the price & lack of other features available in other cheaper monitors. I'm a huge fan of LG OLED TVs, I've had a 65" LG CX for years but this monitor looks TERRIBLE when you see it in person. Forget your own lighting in the room. The grain & oily appearance absolutely ruins this monitor.
Every Monitor Reviewer has called EACH QD-OLED "The Best Monitor", until the next company releases. From MSI, Dell, ASUS, now LG, then Samsung (I'm sure), each version has been a "must buy" from everyone other than TheDisplayGuy.
As a gamedev, music producer & video editor, I find this recent clickbait trend the worst.
It's one thing to clickbait for general content, but when you're influencing buyers decisions and their money, I take issue.
No one should buy this monitor based on the Warranty alone, but the Matte finish looks nearly defective from production. It's that bad.
