      I was really looking forward to this monitor, but with this pricetag and no USB-C .. That is really disappointing 😒
      Not to mention the brightness of this monitor. I would have thought it could get a lot brighter compared to the QD-OLED's 🤷‍♂
      I think I will pass on this one tbh, since there is absolut 0 chance of me using that 480Hz mode anyway. I might end up getting the LG 32GQ950P-B instead, seeing as the price has gone down a lot over the past few weeks.

      No, but I'm not a competitive gamer in the slightest. Maybe this thing will appeal to those people but for $1,400 you can do so much better than this. It's trying to be a jack of all trades and master of none.

    So much better than the grey blacks on QDOLED in anything but a dark room.
    Returned a G8 OLED monitor because of it. Sticking with WOLED from now on.

      The G8 sucks in general for many other reasons, but yeah WOLED is much better for blacks and power efficiency. QD OLED is just a bit more vibrant but 99% of people won't notice the difference.

    At 8:00 how are you getting 800 nits out of those clouds in HDR mode on the PG32UCDM? On all HDR modes - Gaming, Cinema and Console (P1000) modes they're much dimmer on other PG32UCDMs. I'd be interested to know your settings, or whatever you could've changed to achieve this.
    There's been a lot of discussion regarding the aggressive ABL behaviour of these new QD-OLED panels, which seem to be even worse on the PG32UCDm specifically.
    I can't post links here, but on reddit, the OLED_Gaming sub and the official ASUS forum there's a lot of unsatisfied people with worse than expected HDR brightness performance in mid to high APL scenes.
    Thanks for any additional information you can provide!

      My 2 cents. Yes the Asus have some issue with Peak1000 mode but True HDR400 is not affected. Many people have reported this and Asus is aware of this issue. They have fixed previous 27" oled monitor. We gonna wait how they will handle this one.

    That's great. So this 4k monitor downscaled to 1080p has the same graphics and performance than the native 1080p if they are both in 480Hz?? Another thing, when you set ultra settings in Cyberpunk including path tracing plus HDR, even a 4090 will just crawl at 4K. How will a combination of DLSS and HDR impact on the graphics quality?

      @@Alinho295 LG does offer a 2 year warranty for the panel including burn in as he says in the video. Others offer a 3 year warranty though and especially for the asking price that‘s a no go.
      But like I said, ASUS will release a monitor with the same panel. Plus we‘ll see others like Gigabyte as well. So there‘s lots of competition and I expect the prices to drop. I won‘t buy one until autumn anyways. With Blackfriday etc. that’s the best time to shop tech. Until then I‘ll hold on to my current LG. Even when the red stripe sucks but at least it’s pretty much on the right and not in the middle of the panel. ASUS or Dell would‘ve just replaced the monitor as it‘d still be within warranty *sigh*. If I were to buy an LG again definitely only with a warranty extension.

    • @noirelectrique8782
      @noirelectrique8782 Місяць тому +1

      glossy the light comes straight into the eyes which gives intense colors but also even dazzling whites. The surface takes reflections like a mirror. It is however quite pretty in a room when it is turned off. Matte screens greatly attenuate reflections, and the image is softer, a little less dazzling but with less intense colors. I personally prefer matte for a gaming/working/text PC etc. It's much more comfortable and relaxing when you spend time on it

    The QD-OLED options are both cheaper and better, offering glossy panel coating, similar levels of SDR & HDR peak brightness, actual burn-in warranty. Minus that niche 1080p480hz mode.
    I thought the LG WOLED panel would have better peak brightness levels with all that MLA tech they're marketing, but it seems to be gimped in this monitor to the point that it isn't any brighter than the competing QD-OLED panel.

      depends on the region, in EU the Asus costs 1500EUR, while AW is around 1140EUR (incl. tax, varies slightly by country). If LG prices it reasonably then it will probably be less expensive than the Asus or at least same. But so far we have no info of pricing outside the US.

    UK/EU RELEASE DATE: LG have just told me that a UK/EU release date has not yet been scheduled, which they say means it will definitely not be available before May for these regions. Bear in mind that LG aren't particularly consistent or reliable with their communications, so this info could mean something... or it could mean absolutley nothing :/

    Is W-OLED or QD-OLED better?
    And what's the differences?

    • @sawdust8691
      @sawdust8691 2 місяці тому +2

      W-OLED is your common OLED display type.
      From what I've seen, QD-OLED is newer and better in the sense that its colors are more vibrant and the screen more uniform. I think they usually can get a little brighter, too?
      The main visual benefit is more color vibrancy.
      I think it's the same technology as W-OLED, but it has a Quantom Dot layer in the panel(QD), that gives it it's even stronger colors and uniformity.

    Why do some claim, no burn in warranty when he clearly says it does for 2 years. I‘d critic the time though, ASUS offers a 3 year warranty on the QDOLED 32 inch and I am sure they will offer one for the WOLED version as well.
    Yes ASUS will offer a pretty much same speced version with an LG WOLED panel. I‘d definitely wait that one out and then you can really pick the best one for you. Remember that Gigabyte is also launching OLED monitors.

    Just a heads up, I've had the Asus PG32UCDM and i sent it back. It locks you out of changing any settings while in HDR mode. I'm very partial to a cooler colour Temp / white balance and it doesn't let you change this to your liking making everything look yellow / orange. I was utterly disappointed and very annoyed. Isn't it up to the user on how they want to see their picture? Especially when these things cost more than £1k. Absolutely unacceptable imo, you can change these settings on a tv for Christ sake, Ill be trying the LG next

    • @MrM-dl5zm
      @MrM-dl5zm 2 місяці тому

      Thats very interesting because HDR color accuracy is much better with wider color gamut than LG not to mention fucked up EOTF for HDR. And HDR settings are locked both on LG/Asus. You can pick HDR mode and calibrate colors for DCP-I3 and SRGB mode along with Gamma. Check MonitorUnboxed review for LG - you goofed sending it back my man.

    About the claims of text quality. @ 9:53, compare the size of text vs finger. The text is ~ 24 point, double what's normal for a browser or word document, which exaggerates text clarity and reduces fringing. Is this review really a paid ad?

    If the monitor can do 480 internally, I don't see why they couldn't do a 4K 120Hz BFI mode that runs 3 identical frames, then a black, from a 120Hz signal.

    The dual mode seems like a bit of a gimmick, I'd just rather have what seems like the slightly better QD-OLED option. Personally I'm waiting to see what the Gigabyte FO32U2P is like, I'm hoping it might be a bit cheaper than the Asus and MSI options.

  • @MirelRC
    @MirelRC 2 місяці тому

    The 480 Hz will make the image much clearer in the motion. To obtain better clarity than this monitor‚ you'll have to get something with 500+ Hz and BFI‚ like PG248QP‚ but this monitor isn't OLED‚ it is TN. So, this LG is the best monitor for the ones that want really good motion clarity and an OLED panel‚ at least for the moment.
    Also‚ was peak brightness set to low or high?

  • @catbertz

    I'll take the glossy screen every time, at least until someone figures out a good matte coating, which I haven't seen so far. OLED blacks shouldn't be gray imho.

    • @carloscorona3143

      With lights on theres no true blackcks on either screen coating
      QD oleds loose too much contrast
      And even W-oled with glossy display with ambient light the screen reflects too much to apretiate blacks

  • @sklynexd

    It's an OLED, the colors are obviously the best you can get on a display. Bettern than IPS, VA and TN. The only thing than can beat it might be MiniLED or MicroLED

    How's text clarity vs a 4k IPS panel? The problem with OLEDs is that text is slighly blurry so I wonder how this one performs.
