theyve dropped the standards on the pft run ie paras/16AA Bde soildiers when i was in had a cut off time of under 9min 30 sec which over 2.4 km would be under 95 seconds per 400m run the new standard is now under 8min 15 secs which is the new cut off time to pass which works at under 99 seconds per 400m so that pace would only give you a 9 min 54 second cut off time over 2.4 km so the test is not only 400m shorter but a slower pace which when i served within 16AA bde would of landed you on extras for shocking fitness and remedial PT so the standards have dropped in certain areas too open the door to gender in certain roles
We can rise to higher standards if required for deployments. I think the idea is that you don't have to be peak performace all the time. A boxer would not be fight ready all the time. But it is true that the assessments / tests may be a bit easier. The most testing physical elements should be exercise / pr pre deplyment training. Thanks for the comments
@@GYMVUK that depends what unit/brigade you serve in some brigades are 48hr notice to move like the ABTF at 16AA Bde or units within 3 CDO Bde but most units should strive to be like this british forces are slowly dropping standards all the time
Non combatants lol everyone serving should be to the same fitness standards, they had this problem in the Falklands, in a theatre where there was no real land moment vehicles present, the Royal Marines yomped it everywhere carrying everything, Para yomped in bit had thier gear moved forward to them by helo, Gurkhas yomped it and gear, lots of regiments particularly thos normally on ceremonial duties and mounted struggled physically to keep up with advancement
looks a lot more interesting than the old BFT, CFT...APFA.
Reserves do the full RFT S elements same as the regulars
Thankyou! This video is a million times more comprehensive than any other video about this (including the one on the army's official channel).

Once passed selection complacency and beer kicks in lol.
thanks Darren. These are now the minimal requirments but all training is adapepted for the task / role of the unit.
I was armoured. The paras and marines wouldnt have lasted 30 seconds in my battle space. Its horses for courses.
Paras TAB
@@fishyc150 Yeah, sure they wouldn’t mate 🤦♂️
Lemme guess? The British army is still pissed about America declaring illegal independence?
