That being said, I'm sure he actually appreciates his fans - people that give support without any expectations (other than him being a musician) or bullshit. #doyle4life
I can’t help but agree with him. The frustration is real. Look, there are reasons why this band and many others are constantly touring. Playing like 100 shows a year and then attempting to make yet another unplanned album that they probably don’t want to produce anyway, the money is simply not there anymore. Touring is essential. For example: Smashing Pumpkins recently released their No Past No Future No Sun and barley made maybe a 100k off it. The Smashing Pumpkins have way more commercial success compared to The Misfits. I’m using this as an example just to show how difficult these musicians have it. So if you claim to be a hardcore fan of The Misfits or even if your an average fan, buy they’re music, go to they’re shows if you can because if not? Hey one day they’ll be gone and back to their day jobs.
As someone who actually went to one of the Doyle meet and greets I can say he’s not an asshole at all, he kinda seemed like he’d rather be doing something else but when it’s like 10:30 or 11 at night, I’d be wanting to get all that shit off my face and hop in bed too if I were him, but it didn’t really seem like he absolutely hated having to interact with me. Now I honestly don’t know what to believe at this point but watching this has put things into perspective a bit, if he tours here again I’ll probably still go out to see him
Woah, ever since Doyle said that, I’m kinda afraid to meet him in person. Idk, it’s just me. Who knows? You shouldn’t steal music. An artist pays money out of their pocket to write and record music for everyone. So yeah, again that’s just me and such.

But that's just me. 🤷🏽♂️
Good thing everyone else doesnt feel that way! You wouldnt have any new music ever again! It costs money to record, mix, master, produce and manufacture music and if no one buys it then no one will bother making it.
@@thewaxmuseum I don't know a single person that really buys music. Everyone I know buys merch and goes to shows. I didn’t hear the interview you’re talking about but I read one that popped up in my newsfeed. In it the quote was something like “ I don’t want to have to do $50 meet and greets. But I have to in order to make money due to no album sales”. Didn’t seem like he was saying didn’t want to meet fans but being forced to charge money to do it. I mean I get when people say music should be free and accessible to everyone considering how important it is to life, I mean can you really imagine life without music? But also that means that the artists and musicians deserve that much more compensation. They really do get screwed. Doyle has also talked about having severe social anxiety. Whenever he's with his girlfriend Alyssa or Alex Story, or whoever, he usually defers to them to do the talking. Yeah He can come off as rude ( don't we all sometimes?) however, with the right interviewer, I've also seen him really relax and open up and be an absolute sweetheart. My band opened up for Doyle, twice in Kansas, 2018 But in 2006, I met him in California at Fangoria Weekend of Horrors. At the signing he wasn't too friendly. I don't blame him for being pissed off. The man puts his heart soul and money into all he does and sure as hell should not be ripped off for it, especially by "fans". I agree, I don't think he hates his fan's. He probably didn't use the best wording with the "meeting these fucking people" comment, but I think his emotions got the better of him. It happens to almost everyone. I won't hold it against him.

When bands like Def Leppard and Poison and Motley Crue do meeting greets it Goes to show that these bands HAVE to do these things because they don't make the money on the music anymore and the only place they make it is merchandice and meet and greets. Record companies have done music no favors in the past 20 years... Think of all the record stores that used to exist 20 years ago that sold records & cd's and merch now they're all gone except for Walmart.
The way I've always seen it is if you want to meet a band or musician you will pay - it's a choice and all I've seen are people online complaining and bitching about it if you don't like it don't buy for them - I see doing meet and greets as another way to support bands! I've met Doyle a few times through these meet and greets and I've got different experiences with him but end of the day the guys human after all and with the amount of dates they your doing the meet and greets everyday plus all the travelling it will take it's toll after awhile
It's a job. Being Doyle gives him 2 things; attention and income. I know from experience that being in a touring band in the metal/punk scene, you will draw undesirable fans. I played in the scene for years and it made me not like most metal heads and punks, despite my love for the music. I've met Doyle several times. He's nice but shy, kinda quiet, a little anti social. Ego is a real thing in the industry. Also, musicians wanna get paid for their work. Doyle ain't making Glenn or Jerry money. I know what Jerry and Glenn are getting paid for each reunion show... Doyle ain't getting anything close to that. The dude has to do solo tours. He needs to keep in mind though, he's their 3rd guitarist. He has the look but he's not a big deal.
I also often advise people not to meet their musician or media related icons unless they're prepared to be let down. Celebs are people still. They have moods, feelings, differing views than yours, and they're not in character off stage. Doyle is still Paul Caiafa at the end of the day. I never pay to meet people. I've met Doyle free plenty of times, took pics, hung out on the bus, etc. But if he needs to charge for meet and greets and you'll actually pay.... well that's on you. As a fan you have choices.
Doyle should be entitled to everything Misfits. He was there, he’s part of it. He’s a punk horror pioneer. Glad you guys made this video, people should understand.
Wow, usually spot on with you guys, but could you possibly make any more excuses for his comments? He is a grown man and is responsible for the words he spoke. He said he did not want meet his fuckin fans. He did not say he does want to feel forced. He can deal with the consequences of his words. But I do love your posts, just disagree with you on this. Take it easy!
Not making excuses...we genuinely feel that this interview was taken completely out of context. If you listen to it,it's majorly chopped up and robotic sounding.....it was created for clickbait....and did exactly what it set out to do. Thanks for being objective tho!!! Glad you enjoy the content! =)
There are so many bands that overcome the rampant theft by releasing albums so great that fans NEED to own a physical copy. Doyle's solo material is painfully mediocre and uninspired and his sales reflect it. Blaming his unsuccessful solo career on something no one has talked about in years is just sad.
Performance royalties are way less than songwriter royalties but he does make a little from it as well as whatever else is in print "collection 1,2 etc.."
Die hard fan of this guy met him twice in 2018 first time at nyc show small meet n greet line he was super friendly second time at the Teaneck show really long line and a crappy sound board/stage monitors he seemed really grumpy but then Franché coma appear n Doyle cracked a smile
I think spotify is a totaly steal...I looked at what they may get for each stream and it is .000876 or something like that. It is ridiculous. It would be better if they paid just a penny to the artist. I still use spotify because it is easier for me in the car (I still buy their music.) But I think it is best to buy the CD, vinyl, or digital version. (Love vinyl happy they are putting it out.) at least buy a concert ticket and some merch.
What do you call someone who steals your shit? Beat down, bloodied, marked, run down, run over, left standing in a Burger King parking lot in just socks, hospitalized... I'm just sayin'. Support your favorite artist!
If Doyle did an interview were he called me out by name and just bad mouthed me personally throughout the entire interview, I’d still buy his albums. and honestly I’d also be a little flattered.
THINK ABOUT IT. MUSIC GENERATES REVENUE. FOR MEMBERS OF THE BAND TO ENJOY SOME COMFORT, FOOD, TRAVEL , BILLS AND JUST TO LIVE. WHEN THE MANAGEMENT AGENCY DEALING WITH THEIR FINANCIAL AFFAIRS TELLS THE VARIOUS MEMBERS, HEY MONEY AINT COMING IN, THEY ARE GOING TO ASK QUESTIONS. IF YOU DO NOT BUY THE BANDS MUSICAL PRODUCT, THE BAND DOES NOT GENERATE REVENUE TO PUT INTO THE BAND. THE POPULATION, AS A WHOLE, DO NOT GO TO RECORD SHOPS TO BUY A RECORD, CD. THEY WANT FREE MUSIC. SCENARIO. I WANT THE MUSIC, BUT FUCK IF I AM GONNA PAY FOR IT. THE BAND LOSES. THE BAND MEMBERS LOSE. THE BANDS THEN GO DOWN OTHER AVENUES TO GENERATE A DECENT CASH FLOW JUST TO LIVE. WOULD YOU LIKE IT IF SOMEONE TOOK A PART OF YOUR HARD EARNED INCOME AND YOU CANNOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT? I AM SURE YOU WILL BE PISSED. ANALYSTS WILL BREAK DOWN DOYLES WORDS AND COME TO A CONCLUSION. MUSICIANS, NEED AN OUTLET TO BE CREATIVE. SO PAY FOR IT.
Can’t blame the guy for being honest. And he probably wouldn’t hate meeting his fans if they knew how to behave like civilized human beings and stop shoving stuff to sign in their face or demanding photos. Luckily I’ve never cared to meet anyone. I hate meet and greets. You shouldn’t have to pay more to meet a human just like you.
I think your video concerning this issue has probably been the best. I think he poorly worded what he said and that's it. The friends that have met him have all had nice words to say about him and I'm not talking meet and greets it was just before the show and he was really cool to them. I support all of my favorite indie bands by purchasing their music. Main stream bands, not so much anymore though. I stand with Doyle. He could have said what he was feeling a little bit better but I think he does like his fans.
Meeting strangers that love u and your music is far better than punching a time clock every morning at your dad's machine shop .he is a lucky man but overall he seems like a normal dude touring all over is not new to this guy and I'm sure it's just a job to him and maybe could have chosen his words a little better but we ALL say dumb shit some time and if everything said in these interviews is scrutinized Doyle is the reason i picked up a guitar again at ,46 years old and i would pay 100 to meet the dude quit being so sensitive .
I’m sure offering a free mp3 download doesn’t help album sales. Someone could burn as many cds they want and pass them around or even sell the cds themselves.
Seeing how little subscription services actually pay artists makes me feel like a dick, but what am I supposed to do? I'm just a kid without a job, I can't afford to have every album I like on CD, which is why I use subscriptions
Any publicity is good publicity! That's all taken out of context and pasted together though. Imagine Doyle's cut of the meet and greet vs what you're getting for $50 on top of a cheap ticket price for a stellar show in an intimate setting. It wouldn't or shouldn't even matter if 'twere true.
If cell phone filming was banned from shows there would be less videos on UA-cam forcing people to get off their ass n go see the show. Small club bouncers will throw people out for crowd surfing, dancing or smoking grass toss them for filming too.
It shouldn't be any surprise to Doyle that people don't buy his CDs, did he even run numbers before deciding to press them? He might have made profits with small run specialty 7"s, something Misfits collectors would actually want. In all his interviews he doesn't seem to be very passionate about the music either, he comes across like people should just buy any crap he puts out because of his name. Speaking of his name, why the hell did he add Von Frankenstein to his name and start wearing all that goofy makeup? Make music and perform because you're passionate about it, don't expect to make a living wage off underground music doing small clubs. The whole Doyle thing is a bad business decision and it's nobody's fault but Doyle if it's not working out for him. That said I follow him on social media and all because he's funny and a real genuine guy but boy is he kinda stupid.
You can't really "make music and perform" without having the financial means to do so.....unless you own your own club and your own recording studio someone is going to have to pay somewhere.....totally agree with you on doing the 7" singles but he has always pressed vinyl.....I don't think that goes too far with misfits collectors.....there are some fans who will buy everything attached to anyone that has ever been in the band but it's not a massive amount of people...just the major diehards usually.
@@thewaxmuseum True it costs money to make money, I think he would have been better off investing in a lawyer to be able to tour & sell merch as Misfits II with his band just covering 'fits tunes. They wouldn't need to worry about records and they'd sell out every shithole.
If after the show he would rather chill why not sell the meet n greet passes in advance only and do them before the show at 6pm doors open at 7 show starts 8
Doing meet and greets after the show is stupid. I understand where Doyle is coming from, if I just played for 2 hours I'd wanna just relax after. Not meet a bunch of strangers
they preach a no rules world and complain when they get what they want, payback for lots of 15 dollar cds with one good song, filesharing is not stealing
It's truly annoying that someone who rides high on the dollars fans spend on his material, would ever say something so stupid. He's not a musician. He admits freely that he knows how to play no other music but his own. Just a guy who found a racquet early on, and just keeps on hitting it against the wall to collect checks.
I really love your channel is it okay if I make a playlist for your channel on my channel please feel free to see if my channel is good enough to promote your channel please
I think Doyle is a good guy but he needs to stop bitching in every interview that people are stealing his music every time. I know I get it, and it's not right , but it's the nature of the beast, the internet. Look at how many high end movie companies have movies pirated and they have millions of dollars to try and lock it down and stop it. Until there is a better there is a better way to control the music it will happen. He knows that it happens in the industry. Better than his motorcycle analogy, If I opened a fruit stand beside the road and had a sign that said apples and oranges a $ 1 each, put a lock box out on the table and just left it there what do you think? Yeah some would leave a dollar but most would take and leave nothing if no one is watching. It's not right but it will happen. Doyle has marketed his self in a unique what that you only know it's him. He is in the entertainment industry and has to realize don't bite the hand that feeds you. Saying he rather not see his fans doesn't help him. I have to go to meeting with clients I rather not spend my time with either, but it's my pay check at the end of the day and I put that happy face on with positive vibe. He should learn that meeting fans that paid for meet and greets is only an hour or so, be happy dude that they are willing to pay. One day they may not and like all of us time goes by fast.
I disagree with the both of you, and Doyle was definitely in the wrong. First of all, I'm going to quote what Kristopher Lizotte said below: "Artists have to understand that streaming services are an investment. It's a way to get their music out into the public and to get new fans." You have to put in the fucking effort after that investment of getting your music out to the public. Performing shows, selling your merch, and engaging with the fans. Napster and Limewire is a thing of the past, sharing & downloading music from UA-cam and other sources is always going to be a thing, and so will online music streaming services. Doyle needs to get the fuck over it, not be an ungrateful shit to his fans, and see that if he wants to have a successful career, he needs to catch up just like the rest of today's independent musicians who are adapting and fighting to change the way the music industry works, and that's by being your own businessman. I know plenty of musicians who are becoming successful just by managing themselves. It's hard, but they get to make a career out of it because There ARE fans who are willing to support their favorite artists with their hard earned cash. Music theft is hardly a thing anymore.
He's got social anxiety, and he's a dude-of-few words who can say pointed things in interviews. He doesn't, as a rule, "hate" his fans, it's out of context.

I love Spotify but not all of my favorite bands/albums are on there (Samhain, for example) and that's the reason why I still buy CDs and vinyl.
Everyone loves spotify...except for the bands on spotify =)

Oh man!! Where did these kids lern how to rebel??
Love the Shogun Mazinga in the background
Can you hint at a ratio? I'm guessing Jerry gets half of what Glenn gets, I hope Doyle at least gets more than Acey.
Doyle is the man!! I totally agree with him.
Doyle should be entitled to everything Misfits. He was there, he’s part of it. He’s a punk horror pioneer. Glad you guys made this video, people should understand.
He should get equal billing on the advertisements for sure....he's been a part of that band since 1980!
I agree when I do listen to something on spotify if I like it I always try to but a copy of it.
Okay why did I think the song in the intro was the Misfits hybrid moments for a second
Im with Doyle all the way🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
There are so many bands that overcome the rampant theft by releasing albums so great that fans NEED to own a physical copy. Doyle's solo material is painfully mediocre and uninspired and his sales reflect it. Blaming his unsuccessful solo career on something no one has talked about in years is just sad.
It's unbelievable that Doyle isn't making a good earn off of Walk Among Us!
Performance royalties are way less than songwriter royalties but he does make a little from it as well as whatever else is in print "collection 1,2 etc.."
Very well said
Die hard fan of this guy met him twice in 2018 first time at nyc show small meet n greet line he was super friendly second time at the Teaneck show really long line and a crappy sound board/stage monitors he seemed really grumpy but then Franché coma appear n Doyle cracked a smile
People laugh but I defend the idea of buying cds. Cd's are both physical and digital.
Doyle would love you Taz....he would give you lots of pets! =)
best comment on the board, fully agree + it would be a great honur being insulted or threatened by him
THINK ABOUT IT. SO PAY FOR IT.
comon thats how they make a living but buy when you can to support your band
He could have said what he was feeling a little bit better but I think he does like his fans.
ok don't buy the meet and greets hell don't even go to doyle's shows. plain and simple
And just when you think the hysteria has ended we get another video.
I honestly cant really add to this. You covered all my thoughts.
I cant believe how many have taken this the wrong way. Doyle is all good.
Excellent video.
Im from Jersey. You used to find him on job sites doing construction when the Machineshop gig wasn’t working out
If after the show he would rather chill why not sell the meet n greet passes in advance only and do them before the show at 6pm doors open at 7 show starts 8
I'm more interested in the Shogun Warriors in the background! They need a comeback. Great Mazinga!
I'm starting to hate his fans too.
Doyle is a gorgeous monster!
Is homeboy wearing a The Undead shirt?!? If so then nice!
Yes =)
I really love your channel is it okay if I make a playlist for your channel on my channel please feel free to see if my channel is good enough to promote your channel please
Sure Thing!!! Thanks!! =)
First of all, I'm going to quote what Kristopher Lizotte said below:
"Artists have to understand that streaming services are an investment. It's a way to get their music out into the public and to get new fans."
You have to put in the fucking effort after that investment of getting your music out to the public.
