Best Cuban Sandwich in Tampa Bay at West Tampa Sandwich Shop?

Who has the best Cuban sandwich in Tampa Bay? The one at West Tampa Sandwich Shop has been highly recommended to me since I started my quest to find the best Cuban in Tampa Bay, so I dropped by this Tampa institution to try it for myself.
Established in 1992, they’ve been serving one of the best Cuban sandwiches in Florida with a couple of twists that I haven’t experienced with other Cubans. Here you can add tomatoes and lettuce to your sandwich, and they have a Honey Cuban (or Obama) sandwich that is a regular Cuban with honey brushed on the top of the bread. It was renamed The Obama, for the former President who visited in 2012, as that was how he liked his Cuban.

I think it’s a Tampa thing to add lettuce to Cuban sandwich. It helps balance out the salty deli meats.
Comida Latina is next to TIA. Their Cuban has a lot of roasted pork. It’s very heavy! And cheap too. The owner are Cuban immigrants and speak little English. It’s drive thru

Interesting, that does make sense, it does do a good job of balancing the salty deli meats. And thanks so much for the recommendation, I’m sure I would have never found out about Comida Latina otherwise. I’ll check them out for sure!
