It's a shame that we never saw yoda fight in the original trilogy, it was planned, but then they realized that making a puppet fight would be too difficult, anyway i hope for a cameo of Joda in the kenobi series.

The reason for not telling Luke was still there when Yoda says “not ready for the burden…” also it was implied that they had together agreed to protect Luke from the terrible truth.
Having Yoda control Kenobi is too similar to the Sith where palpatine controls what Vader can and cannot do. Also Jedi don’t follow orders when they know what the right thing to do is different.
Instead both yoda and Kenobi have their own agency and both choose to protect Luke because they both know it’s the right thing to do.

    • @bncsmom1
      @bncsmom1 2 роки тому +9

Not true. The Jedi Council gives implicit instructions and expects them to be followed. Yoda was the Grand Master of the Jedi Council. He led the council. Obi-Wan would have continued to view him as such and would have obeyed his Master's instructions.

But, seeing and living under the Empire's rule all his life, he knew (or perhaps thought) that he was the galaxy's last hope and would have stayed focused, or would he have followed the dark side... The explanation you gave on why Yoda forbid obi wan to not reveal the whole story to luke about his father was spot on.
I know if I found out my pop was one of the best and most powerful jedi/war hero, and he was alive, I for sure would of dropped everything and ran off to locate him.
And in the case of luke the jedi would be no more if obi wan prematurely spilled the beans to luke. Cause i 100% agree that Sidius and Vader would of trained luke in the sith way. And it would of been handed to them on a silver platter.

Great video. It would have been nice to see that line in the final cut, or at least in the Special Edition, but it really wouldn't change much for me. Even as a kid, I understood that Kenobi was holding back info due to a bigger plan for the fall of the Sith. Plus, it inferred that Luke had to understand that a Jedi must act carefully due to different ways of understanding a situation. Again, great find with that dialogue

  • @Loth_Wolf

I always thought it odd that Ahsoka, Obi-wan, and Padme, failed to comprehend how vulnerable Anakin might be to the Darkside. All the clues were there, and Darth Maul and Dooku even talked about the plot. Yoda seemed to foresee the errors of the Jedi Council and decided to let the plot play out; he certainly sensed what was going on after his encounter with the Whills. So it is not surprising that he resorted to deception to prevent Luke from thinking Anakin was still alive and could simply be talked out of the grip the Darkside had on him. When Ahsoka realized Anakinn was alive, she was lucky to have survived her compassion for Anakin. Obi-wan is going to discover in the new series that he can't access Anakin either. Yoda seemed to be preparing Luke to find the strength to defeat Vader and not strike out at Palpatine in anger. This was a clever play by Yoda to train up Luke this way. It always seemed like his training left him unprepared, but obviously by design. Luke knew just enough to get the job done, and then harmonize some of light and dark to avoid the mistakes the Jedi Council had made.

I think something that we are learning from today's movies that make them a little better is that things are not always black and white, that there are some gray areas.
I think that it would've been cool to see Luke struggle more with the dark side, to find justifications for going dark and come back to the light. Some of this stuff is just glossed over too quickly for the sake of time.

There is a series of books called Star Wars Tales, a type of Star Wars 'What If', and in one of them there's a story about Yoda as a Padawan chasing a Sith in a fighter. He shot the Sith ship and crash landed on Dagobah. I don't remember the exact details as this was long ago and I lost my books, but whether the Sith died in the crash or was defeated by Yoda, where the Sith died, Dark Side grew around it. This is the area where Luke has his vision (Starkiller as well, but that doesn't count... yet). Supposedly this was the reason why Yoda picked this planet specifically and made it his home when he went into hiding from the Empire. What a better place to hide from the Dark Side than a place surrounded by it. Like "The closest we are from danger, the farthest we are from harm" kind of a thing...

Stumbled upon your channel bay accident, but you have a new subscriber. Looks to be a great channel. Will have to recommend it to my older children as 4 out of 5 are dedicated Star Wars fans.

I’m hyped for the Kenobi show, I hope they do show some Luke scenes as he did watch over him during his days on Tatooine from start to beginning. Maybe we will see some Star Wars Rebels stuff. Who knows, we’ll see soon!

It's been a disabled man's dream to find a Yoda saber but I spend to much time in ER from seizures and can't get help with my meds cuz SSI sucks and refuse to help me even after flatline 13 times and almost drowned in my own blood from chewing my tung. I just want to say thank you for giving me something to keep me busy while stuck in the hospital so much

I never thought of Obi-wan as an asshole, I always figured it was necessary to keep the truth hidden from him until later. And the cool thing is that even though it wasn't even planned at the time the first film came out, Alec Guinness was such a great actor that when he told Luke what happened to his father he gave Lucas the opening to make the plot twist in the first place. He was talking about Anakin as if Episode 3 was already written and he knew how it ended when it wasn't even fleshed out yet.

Dont know how I found this but really enjoyed this. Subbed! The first movie I ever saw in the cinema was Jedi in 83, I had just turned 4 and vividly remember the experience. Been in love with Star wars ever since! Look forward to checking out more of these deleted scenes I haven't seen!

Like your sidetracked story...My eldest son was in love with Anakin being 2 when Clone Wars started and so watched that 1st. When he finally saw the Revenge of the Sith movie, he was absolutely devastated by the killing of the younglings. Even now as a 15yr old I think he is a little crushed as Anakin was his Hero

Oh come on, in A New Hope when Luke asked what happened to his father , Obi Wan had to come up with something quick. You could see the look and his mannerisms he was lying. That was a dead give away. We all knew something was up and needed to keep watching to find out what was coming. There was no shock for me when Vader revealed he was Luke's father and I was 6 during A New Hope and 9 when Empire came out. Holy crap I'm 50 now...😳
