- Does This Bus Mean ''GOODBYE'' To Matatus As We Know Them In Kenya? | BasiGo.
This type of bus has lately become very popular in the city of Nairobi in Kenya. I was surprised to find out they are all electric and I only found out when I hopped on one recently.
Watch how the company behind this is revolutionizing the Matatu (Public Bus) industry in Kenya.

Always a step ahead DRIVAFY! I now know that one can book basigo and track its location, making it easier for passengers to even plan their time conveniently.
I also didn’t know until the interview! Good stuff and thanks for the support
Its over 5years ever since I stopped using public transport due to all these inconveniences especially loud music,I support the effort in electric public transport for listening to the public outcry
I understand you, it could be irritating sometimes but I am also glad there are options now !
Another classic coverage Drivafy. I feel the enthusiasm. Push it💯
Thank you Fam! 🙏🏽

I think you will enjoy it. Dont force forget to subscribe
This is very comfortable and lovely
Thank you
The inside of that bus is exactly the same with town busses here in America.I wish all matatus evolve to this mode of transport
Very true and similar to Norway and many counties. It will surely happen 🙏🏽
We won't let ma3 culture die yet
@@elroymatekwa8702You will
Kenya is developing.
Peleka Ma3 ushago.
@@elroymatekwa8702electricity won't kill matatus

This is top-notch! Very impressive. Thanks Drivafy for the good work.
Thank you !
This is good n will reduce pollution..
Problem is that, opposition leadership is against this
The good thing is transition to zero emission vehicles is not a national policy but worldwide. We do not have any option than to embrace it. Dont forget to subscribe to the channel
What is important than reducing climate polution?
This is amazing… I love this initiative. Kudos Dave 🎉
Thank you for the support!
Awesome
🔥🔥
Proud of you Drivafy you doing Commendable work in Kenya and across the world
Thank you and keep supporting
Now the matatu will have to come up with another banger and style
There is no competition I guess, just introducing clean transport 😃
Another banger 😅
Great

Electric buses. Very cool bro
Yes they are 🔥🔥
Proud of Africa
We will surely get there 🙏🏽🙏🏽
I hope they bring more
I hate those matatu with loud music and the behaviour is not good.
Plans are underway to deliver more in Kenya
I like them, but they should not loose the art work that is unique to Kenya....More work for the Youth
Great input 🇰🇪🇬🇭❤️
Which art?!u want confusion to still reign which is synonymous to "manyanga"culture!!!Let the simple model of the make continue!!!
Don’t forget to subscribe
What art work move with time simple is always the best
As you start to make them here I hope you are not going to make those ugly designs of matatus
If the government does not regulate the conduct of those buses' drivers, it will be the same old African story of indiscipline and chaos on public roads.
Regulatory frameworks are underway
@@drivafy not unless Michuki is reborn.
@@b.3940you are very negative for nothing. Electricity will only replace oil usage not anything else....so don't expect our matatu culture to die coz of electricity
@@AmazingMania I am not discounting the merits of the electric buses, I am talking about the unruly drivers who flout all traffic laws. If you live in Nairobi I am sure you've seen the behavior of matatu drivers.
Tanzania is doing very well but here it will not work unfortunately because of the so called cartels and a weak government
Sad to hear this! Don’t forget to subscribe
Yes Yes !!
😄😄🙏🏽
But make sure they are accessible to disabled the elders and expectant mothers and those with buggies very important please please
If they built like the ones in the west which they obviously look like they are, they usually have a built in ramp which the driver pulls out for anyone who needs to access it.
One thing you should know Matatus are used all over Kenya not just in Nairobi so it's not the end of matatus. Matatus are not just a way of transport but a culture
Sounds good! Dont forge to subscribe
He is talking about the old-school dirty filthy matatus of Nairobi, Mombasa, kisumu etc not long distance transportation.
@@brianokero4991 yes Nganyas are everywhere I'm surprised that you don't have them in your hometown. Have you seen Mombasa and Nakuru nganyas? Nganyas/matwana is our culture and you're entitled to your opinion if you think they're filthy
They need to make longer buses
The longer buses are in now! Kindly support by susbscribing to the channel
Bravo....I prefer them than those noisy matatus
Good to know 👌🏾
Sustability is the key
Yes very important! Dont forget to subscribe
Problem is the cartels of matatus
Technology and Cashless form of payment will edge out that lot
We will definitely get there
As long as they keep off the noisy touts off the fleet and bring in professional conductors then we will know we are heading somewhere in transport . Secondly disband all police traffic police and bring in Kenya Traffic Officers just like-the Met Traffic Police in london } whose job is to take undisciplined drivers and vehicles off our roads .
We will get there
Still one is shouting "HAMUSINI"
Can i get battery packs for my Prius gen 2 (lithium ion battery packs)

They are short hence carry less passengers hence have more vehicles butI hope they'll introduce longer atleast 40 seated passengers and a space for atleast 10 standing
Hmm long buses for Intracity might be a big problem looking at the nature of the streets etc. but it may work though
They don't allow standing passengers in Kenya. All should be seated.
@@1devoch they do for those electric buses they are even designed with handles where you can stand even for this buses operating in waiyaki way they allow passengers standing
❤❤🇰🇪🇰🇪
Thanks. Do not forget to subscribe
Will they put buses in other cities in Kenya
Gradually
When are they reaching ngong Road
I think very soon. You will love it 😍
Due to riots in Kenya and experience as a Kenyan is better you invest in LAND and construct houses you never regrate
Very interesting contribution
@@drivafy Kenya anything is possible ; So you need to have 50years plan before you invest your money to moving business like that
hahaha kenya kenyaa
If only they had more range like 400kms ....
200kms is too short
Battery technology keeps improving everyday! We will get there one day 🙏🏽
Good thing is as you wait for passengers to you can plug in for refil
@@AmazingMania you won't get any meaningful battery when you charge it for 10 minutes(as you wait for passengers).
They are charged at night + afternoon during off peak hours
So proud of Kenya 🇰🇪 Going green🤢

Where does one find schedule of departure, arrival online?
Great idea for me info and allow me to plan not an issue of who the provider is!
Download the Jani App on Playstore
@@drivafy if I do not want an app?
Sorry not been a downer but we all
need to be careful of apps. Apps is not just apps..
Africa testing ground..if you can get you're schedule on google good on you but my thought you have a wonderful project not convinced DPA wise.
"GOODBYE" to Matatus??? Only if the Matatu Cartels have found a way to EAT from this new BUS. Otherwise it will fail like it's predecessors.
It is well
green economy
True bro!
Matatus will go no where. Electrical busses, okay, but unless operated the former KBS style, will make no change.
Is the founder from crotia 😢
I doubt it sounds Indian
How much does cost to charge the bus
So they have two models - If you buy the bus from Basigo, you will sign a battery as a service lease agreement where they lease only the battery to you. Now u will pay kes 23 per kilometer which means if you are doing 300 KM a day it would be kes 23 X 300kms.
The second option is, the bus will be on lease with you paying an initial deposit and paying over time. With this, you pay Kes 40 per kilometer charge.
All these include the servicing, clearning of the bus and other benefits.
To charge a Tesla overnight is$ 35 for 300 miles
Despite the advance in technology, bado kuna makanga hapo, "hamusini ngari hamusini" 😅
😂😂😂😂😂
Ni za nani hizo, basi? Ama ni za ni za uda?
Huoni hio ni embassava?
Not at all. Wasafiri ni wengi, sana
We must embrace this kind of technology by being positive for a better future.
How much does it cost to buy an electric bus?

Why promote China’s employees not Kenyans?
The CRO mentioned the next shipment will be knocked down kit and will be assembled in Mombasa so it will definitely create jobs for Kenyans. Don’t forget to subscribe
Plus are the buses from Uganda? they have invested on electric buses? Bye Kenya buy East Africa! waiting here for a response about time we stopped just talking. The East African community has grown but if we do not feed the roots then what?
We will get there !
its great idea but, the matatus are untouchable so please Africa don't lie to your self.
Electric mobility is all well and good, but that is the least of Kenya’s needs. Kenya has much bigger needs than electric mobility.
What bigger needs are you talking about kindly shed the light
@@fixhubeverything6988 This one dey mad
Energy is what builds civilizations my friend. You eat food to get energy.
There's always that one, who can't help it but rubbish anything good that happens in Kenya, pray tell, What is more important than improving the transport system???
What bigger needs?
