like what is "INCLUSIVE" growth? "INCLUDING" WHOM? since IMPERIALISM has been INCLUDED by force of COLONIZATION from the day they COLONIZED the CONTINENT?!....ITURI-(aka "Afrika/aner")
KENYA was NOT POVERTY stricken, says ALL those who GREW UP in the 70s and 80s exchanging the 20pounds to 20shillings to ONE POUND! it was GROWING FAST in the 70s and 80s till the SAP were IMPOSED by IMPERIALISM.
KENYA does NOT WANT to be A SINGAPORE or CHINA which are ecnomically OWNED by FOREIGN MONOPOLY comapnies! WHEN these STATE CONTROLLED MONOPOLIES in RUSSIA LEFT RUSSIA basically COLLAPSED! SO KENYA is NOT LOOKING for IMPERIALISTIC "investment" but TO BECOME A MANUFACTURING HUB not a SOCIALIST SOCIAL WELFARE STATE invested by FOREIGNERS!....when this FOREIGN Mpesa LEAVES and returns to VODACOM its mother FINTECH, KENYAN FINTECH will just COLLAPSE!!...so WHAT good is THAT? in the LONG TERM?....

Great assessment. One thing to note is that Kenya never gave importance to minerals and oil in the past and has risen mostly due to its human resources. But such interest has picked up over the years. In January 2024, the country announced the discovery of significant coltan deposits. The Constitution already has mechanisms to prevent challenges bedeviling other African countries, which include the classification of certain minerals to be of strategic imperative (such as coltan) and, hence, requiring a nationalized mining approach, rather than concessions to foreign companies. A geological survey revealed that the country may have over 900 different types of minerals. Therefore, besides adopting the Singapore model, the country can also leverage minerals to augment the strengths it currently enjoys.

Actually, we have all of that. Only that, it's like someone made sure we will not utilize any of it.
There is huge gold reserves in Kakamega that no one is doing anything about.
There is massive oil in Turkana, and potentially gas in the South Rift regions (had rumours awhile back about gas somewhere, which they are keeping secret until some important people have the land)
And what is really happening to the oil in Turkana ?
Then recently they said we have coltan in several places. All of those minerals, and all those we used to read about in primary school social studies ?
The problem is clueless governments, that never come to power with the intent to grow and diversify (things they talk about a lot), but only to control sharing of the little resources we have.
Haven't you seen them lately go to benchmark in Tanzania about "how minerals can be used to drive economic growth" ? I bet the Tanzanians were surprised

    • @patriot_2022
      @patriot_2022 8 місяців тому

@@rosam674 It's not just "depend". We do nothing with the minerals we have. Can you imagine, the majority of mineral exploitation going on is artisanal. It is the locals sitting there in the sun and hitting rocks with nyundos, they sell very cheaply, and then the government celebrates that and they say they are improving our lives by supporting artisanal mining. Instead of establishing state mining companies and doing something serious.
Even heard that people have been selling coltan for years in Embu to business people from Rwanda. Smart Rwandans surveyed the region with their intelligence services, and found out about Coltan in Kenya before the Kenyan government did.
The locals have been crushing those rocks and selling to Rwandans without even knowing what they are, or why.
How stupid our governments are! And far worse when you think of people like RiggyG leading decision making.
Ruto is said to be smart, but he is not any different. Only good at filling his stomach.
Otherwise he would never have time for the kind of people that form his administration.

As a Kenyan, I'm here to learn about how rich my country is, a country that is so poor that accepted 200 million from the US to go kill in Haiti last year (sorry to help Haiti with their democracy issue on behalf of the US/Canada/France). A country that recently had a 70% negative deficit last year. Kenya, the Singapore of Africa.

70% negative deficit is what exactly? Of did you mean the debt?

@jameskamotho7513 I should have worded this a bit better, I got heated a bit hearing this. So for two fiscal quarters last year we did not have enough money to fund our government. The figures varied but it was estimated we needed additional 60%-70% of additional funds than what was available in our budget, and magically a few weeks later Ruto was walking in NY streets and a few days afterwards Kenyans were going to Haiti and we were 200 million richer.

More cross border cooperation between Kenya and Ethiopia would boost the economy of both countries
