Probably the best start to ANY Game Grumps LP.
The best part of the intro cutscene is when he pulls out a submachine gun, which somehow unloads itself, turns into an assault rifle, and becomes pump action.

@@omfgpainkillers Freeze Breeze could be? the ladysmith is smaller and has gentler angles than the larger sizes in the series. The angles presented during the forward flying scene lead me to believe that it is the smaller ladysmith that was resized to fit the animation. The absence of slide mounted safety could make it a decocker model but i don't know if those were made. It definitely appears to be a disproportioned 1911 at the pistols introduction with the side profile shot then became a ladysmith for the flying shot, after rewatching it 7 times... Could easily be a continuity error. Or, a generic pistol-esque thing thrown into a video game. I choose continuity error

Oh my god. I came back to watch this series again, and I forgot how wonderful it was. This game is such a gift to humanity. I watched this entire episode with a big stupid grin on my face. Gothic pre-teen furries on deviantart can't match this game's level of edginess. Every single detail, every menu, every line of dialogue, it is all expertly crafted to make Shadow seem like the most angsty edgemaster ever created. It's so marvelous and hilarious, this game needs to be witnessed just to understand. Words cannot do it justice.

Honestly, I enjoyed the game but it kind of feels like some wierd edgy fever dream looking back on it.
I loved this game....it was all about one character that's NOT FUCKING SONIC...they put in army, alien AND eggman guns, you could finally use other characters even though it's very limited....I'm tired of these baby ass Sonic games that don't even let you use Espio or other characters
Late reply, but that's what I loved so much about it. It's basically Bathos: The Video Game. Like, on one hand it's trying so damned hard to be dark and serious with world-ending conflicts and it's (To quote the Grumps) Metal Gear Solid looking menu screen, and on the other hand it has an emo hedgehog with a machine gun who flits around on roller skates.
Dan's reaction to watching the intro of this game is one of my top favorite moments of Game Grumps. I actually went to show the intro of this game to my non-Sonic fan friends as well and I loved how they watched it and went, "... Is this really fucking happening?"
All the best moments are Dan's initial reactions to the Sonic games. His reaction in Unleashed when sonic showed up is my new favourite.

I like how the opening keeps it just vague enough to make you unsure. Did Sonic just collapse in battle and Shadow is leaping into the fray to avenge his fallen ally? Or did he just straight up cap him in the head and flee the scene?

You and nearly every other 10 year old who ever played this, myself included. This game was the shit for me back in 2006-2007. Any time any kids played Sonic the Hedgehog make believe or whatever (And you know some kids did back in the day), EVERYONE wanted to be Shadow. Everyone wanted to be the edgy dark character who was virtually indestructible, used guns and had a complicated moral compass.
....God I miss childhood.

Actually, Shadow floats when shooting in midair, those aliens floated down from the temporal whatever, and the people have huge freakin' hands and feet to support themselves while upright. So gravity DOES exist, but it's only exponentially weaker when convenient for the crap that's going on onscreen.
So, great fockin' game. Really good. And then the world thought that 2005 was just an odd slip-up for SEGA. Over a decade later aaaand we're still here. SEGA, you've got a choice. Save Sonic now, or forever be shunned by the many millions of fans you somehow still have, self included. #freesonic

Well he helped with every other game before Sonic 06, he started out as a Programmer for Sonic 1 & 2 and then became a producer for Sonic Adventure because (and I'm not kidding here) he was prettier than the original producer and of the original developer's (aka Sonic Team) only one is still a part of the current Sonic Team: Takashi Izuka and he's the Head of Sonic Team. Also out of the original Sonic Team Izuka-San was the worst of them all but as head of Sonic Team he's prove he can do it well with games like Sonic Colors and Generations and Lost World but with games like Sonic 06... everyone has there ups and downs

I like shadow for the same reasons I like Vegeta... they're the exact same character.

1.shadow (or vegeta) shows up, wants to destroy the planet, fails, and then learns to like the planet because of a girl and the concept of (reluctant) friends.
2.Vegeta and shadow are also a "dark" and "badass" version of the main hero from their respective series.
3.Aaaand sonic team has stated multiple times that shadow was based on vegeta (fun fact: silver is based on trunks 0_0). There's endless dragon ball z parallels in the sonic universe.

2. He will not realize there's objectives
3. He'll take the neutral path because it's quickest and he won't know that defeating enemies leads to the other paths
4. They'll quit 3/4 of the way through one of the story paths because they bash the game so much
5. Since Danny knows nothing about this game he'll believe everything Arin says about this
Shadow the Hedgehog is a really bad game that makes no sense as to why it exists but at the very least they tell you how to play right on screen, Naturally they'll ignore this.
I don't mean to hate on the Grumps because damnit if they're not some of the funniest people I've watched but I already see this series flopping for the usual conventions.

I feel like this LP is in response to fans wanting Sonic 06 to continue, but this is just painful to watch. Sonic 06 had a charm to it because Arin and Jon were genuinely trying but the game was so poorly made, it lead to some hilarious moments. Shadow is actually pretty well made and this looks like it's just going to be Arin playing poorly and acting like it's the game's fault.
Sonic '06 was my favourite Grumps playthrough by far. As the episodes went on you could feel Arin and Jon slowly descend into madness.
They're trying waaaaaaaaay too hard to be funny.
..... Shadow the Hedgehog?? A well made/designed game??? Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine I would see so many people defending a 3D sonic game from the mid 00s. Granted I don't like most sonic games and I'm not saying you shouldn't like this game but wow it's just I'm honestly speechless....
Oh, yeah, to be sure. And for a Sonic 06 replacement, Shadow is probably the second best choice (Unleashed being the first). I just feel like this is the Grumps pandering and forcing it, while with 06, they genuinely wanted to beat it.
***** The problem is more in execution of the core concept. They wanted Shadow to be edgier to make it different from normal Sonic games, but guns and naughty language isn't what they needed. There were some gameplay problems and it wasn't as tight as the Adventure games, but it was still fun to play.

Fun fact: Sonic runs WAY faster than Shadow, you can even control him during the story mode if you have an extra controller. Thing is though, there's no splitscreen, so since he's so fast you can't even see where you're going.

Oh gosh... I actually like Crush 40. I've used an entire iTunes card on Crush 40. And, believe it or not, I actually really like "I Am... All of Me" (the main theme of Shadow the Hedgehog). "Open Your Heart" wasn't too bad either.

Something about Shadow questioning his life after amnesia just feels considerate to me. I really understand the way he's so confused in his own mind just by his expressions. Really brings out "the ultimate life form" in him.
It's so strange hearing sound effects, animations and models and what not I'm so use to hearing in "Sonic Heroes" in this game.
It's sad how the thing that's bothering me the most about this game is how Shadow's mouth is constantly at the left side of his face instead of in the middle.

ya. people who liked it REALLY like it. (as bad as Westopolis can be) and the rest of the world really thought it was shit. Some stages are really bad, but i love the story progression personally.
