he moved directly and unnecessarily into mate in 1. he quite literally could not have fucked up more with one move, because you can't move into check what he did was essentially a slightly drawn out version of fool's mate, a mate which, in the words of my chess teacher/club leader when I was 7 and the oldest person in the club was 10, isn't something you need to actively avoid because almost nobody could accidentally play that badly

Arin being Arin, got all "oh, well mine's better than yours" snarky and confident, and called for them to unroll his banner. upon it being released, it got snagged and stuck before the logo became visible, much to Arin's stunned disbelief, and Dan and the crowd's amusement. While very much of that show followed a script, I don’t think that was meant to happen.
Man, this was awesome, but it desperately needed the moment from Chicken Feet when he lifts the platform in time, mocks the chicken, then falls flat trying to jump to the next one and dies. That is easily my favorite "Arin's misplaced confidence" moment.
