As someone who grew up with it, I personally love the game. With that said, I completely understand his argument (and everyone’s argument lol).

player 2 really is just meant to be a "little brother who isn't good at games but you're forced to play with anyway" role, isn't it

Fun fact: The route you tried first (going Dark twice, meeting Amy, then going pure Hero) is called "The Miracle of Love". Basically Shadamy fuel. Shadow is pure evil, bad to the bone, then sees Amy and does a complete 180 for her.
It was actually Rouge but other than that you are correct (I played through that route a while back so it's still fairly fresh in my memory)
@@kittykat5915 Huh? Level 1 is Westopolis, going dark there sends you to Digital Circuit, then going dark there sends you to Cryptic Castle. You meet Amy in Cryptic Castle and help her find Cream and Cheese. At least, that's how I seem to remember, though you do meet Rouge in Digital Circuit.

It bears correction that on the second level on the Dark path you're not just in "a computer", you're literally inside the internet, and destroying the core deletes every single piece of data on the net, as well as bringing down all network communication worldwide in-universe.

In Westopolis, there's a hint bubble about guns. If you have Sonic read it, he adds on "Personally, I wouldn't be caught dead with one of those things"... except he used a revolver in Sonic Shuffle and can use guns in Smash Bros (if that counts) so... he a liar.

You can actually reset lethal highway (or die I think) and the shield on the tank will stay damaged so technically Sonic can deplete the entire shield.
I Honestly Like the Fact that the Game has a Second Player Function, if only to Say that You can Play as Maria Robotnik in an Official Sonic Game!

Shadow the hedgehog was honestly fun, I feel like the game gets, at least a little deserved, way to much hate. It’s a genuinely fun game and being able to use the Chaos blast is so fucking cool. And it’s better than sonic hero’s so 🤷♂️.

I don't think he failure there was accurate. Eggman can sometimes hit himself with his slots. It's possible he glitched and did it automatically, since while very rare, it can happen.

Honestly something I have always hated is when a level based game is 2 player but player 2 is an afterthought like no significant abilities no good ways to progress the game and most importantly not fun, player 2 in so many games is just slapped on without a thought as to how it would function or the gameplay impact for either player because both players need to be able to have fun. Honestly their are way too little games with a decent player 2 and the only good ones are always either indi games or nintendo games . That’s not saying those games aren’t great I just wish it was more well implemented in more magor releases with a decent challenge, honestly I think that more games should focus on having good multiplayer as an option but not mandatory
Black Bull can be beaten by Sonic. Only reasons, is because Sonic is the only playable second character to have a functioning Homing Attack.

What if I told you that a bunch of Sonic games have this kind of co-op multiplayer? Every 2D game which lets Tails follow Sonic lets the second player control Tails (even in Sonic 2's special stages... which is probably why those stages are actually harder in Sonic + Tails mode compared to just Sonic or Tails alone), I think SA1 does it whenever Tails is following Sonic in that game, stuff like that. In 3(&K) and Mania (though in the latter there is a way to do it with just one controller) it's even possible to have Tails carry Sonic around in co-op the way he does in the Marble Garden act 2 bossfight, and there's occasionally out-of-the-way item boxes that are intended to be obtained in this manner in 3&K.
I only learned of it a few years back.
@@TARDISES not just sonic games, there are other games aswell that have a hidden multiplayer like dmc3 and megaman and bass on the snes
If you get to the first checkpoint and the second then respawn at the first, the tank respawns on lethal highway but keeps the same health it had before, so you could just have sonic homing attack it nonstop and respawn, eventually it will be destroyed
Good old "speedrun" tactic for getting the best possible time on this stage. Which was... 00:08:42 or something.

Honestly, I don't think this was even true. Being realistic, Colby remained in relatively good spirits for a surprisingly long time. As miserable as this was, they took it well.
I remember when my brother was playing this game and I was just sitting there holding the second controller and absent mindedly moved the joystick and to our surprise I was able to control Sonic.
Bro that exact thing happened to me and my older brother except I was punching with sonic, i tried to play 2 player but as a 5 year old with little skill I couldn’t 😢
The funniest part for me is ive played this game. And i didn't even know maria had a punch animation. This implies that she was angry enough to punch gun soilders in canon. That kinda recontextualizes the entire flashback.
Or shadow was just that angry with gun that his hallucination of playable maria was also willing to be violent.
The second one is so much funnier haha and kind of sad. He misses her so much 😭

Boy oh boy did my brother and i have a good laugh
For anyone who hasn't played Shadow the Hedgehog's 1.5 player mode, since this was implied in the video but I think never explicitly stated: Eggman's little floating monitor and Doom's Eye aren't properly playable, they just kind of float around and yell at you. That's why Sky Troops "doesn't have a second player"--your choice of assistant characters is between those two.
Anyway, when the game was new, my little brother and I got to Final Haunt for the first time and just teamworked through the level with Sonic taking the lead while Shadow supported him. We were never quite able to make it work as smoothly again, but that memory is probably one of the biggest reasons that I generally like this game better than most people seem to.
Charmy Bee isn't playable either for the same reasons which is honestly quite funny.

Note that, even though the original Xbox (which Shadow the Hedgehog released on as well as the PS2, which only has two controller ports, and the GameCube) has four controller ports, there is no way for player 2 to influence the single-player mode on that port.
Also... Sonic Adventure 1 has the same limited two-player in Sonic's story, as in the levels where Tails joins Sonic, the second player can control him like on the Genesis/Mega Drive.
Never in my whole life I would have imagined Sonic defeating the GUN soldiers, by his own will lol
Yeah fsr Sonic is the only partner who can homing attack while the others just do the jump dash, possibly because Sonic can home on you in the Diablos boss fight

How is it hard to understand? Eggman is the "neutral" partner, meaning he's good if the opposition is BD and evil if the opposition is Sonic and GUN.

@@anjoliebarrios8906 Nah, she's specifically called a "government spy" and takes orders from the president, whom GUN seems to be keeping secrets from, as he has to rely on her to learn about Project Shadow and GUN's involvement with it.
To further drive that home, a translation from the original Japanese would call her "the federal government president's specialized agent," so she answers directly to the president, not GUN.

Is it just me that thinks its dumb that these characters all have different control schemes and yet you can't use any of them in the actual Multiplayer?
Apparently Sonic has unused Japanese voice clips of him in multiplayer for a lost race mode so they most likely intended for him and maybe even the rest of the cast to be in the multiplayer but probably scrapped it or ran out of time to implement it. They probably wouldn’t allow Sonic using gun weapons in the battle mode though.
