@Farhan Zafor -Of course, the karate master will win! - say every karate practicioner. -The taekwondo master will beat the karate fighter! - say every taekwondo practicioner. Now, you have got two valid answers to your question. Are you satisfied? :-)
I find the best combination for movement in kickboxing is a mix of boxing and karate. The fast angle changes of boxing with the fast distance changes of karate makes you very hard to find in the ring.
Taekwondo for long range, Karate for mid-long range, Muay Thai for mid-close range, and boxing for short range. Anything closer than that would involve grappling arts lol.
@@mythrin Blitz Karateka actually have a longer engagement distance than Taekwondo practictioners. The most important thing for Taekwondo Practictioners is learning boxing since as Bill Superfoot Wallace (not TKD but a great kicker) said he learned to box for two reasons to get you away from me so I can kick you and to get you away from me so I can kick you but then I learned I had a pretty good jab and hook. Learning Muay Thai or Kyoskushin Leg Kicks and how to fight in the clinch is also always good.
I'd always learned when I boxed to move forward with the back leg, similar to what you're doing. This also reminds me a lot of when I tried kendo and all the forward stepping movements came from the rear foot. I love all your content, please don't stop!
Thank you!! My karate championship is coming up and we were practicing it in school but our coach wasn't free so we couldn't practice much and I was having problem with this but after seeing your video, I can understand it. Now I can practice. Thank you so much!!:)
My favorite counter is from a left facing stance(southpaw) step/juke to the right with the lead leg while using the knife edge of my left hand to redirect their lead hand while also dropping into a rightside back stance and launching a reverse punch to their ribs. With practice, the goal is to be fast and fluid. Might even be a kihon. Lol 😅
Thank you for this. The kumite footwork is totally different to boxing footwork and I've always been really curious about it, this was a great explanation thank you.
This is really similar to the foot work that I practiced in taekwondo. The positioning, the guard and the way you keep a constant spacing even when moving is the same. The only difference I see is the use of punches and the way kicks are set up. really cool.
So interesting! I think this is one of the points that most distinguish karate and taekwondo superficially. I mean, I believe that the principles are the same, but in the external appearance, the resulting movement looks so different! The basic stance also looks quite different.
Nice explanation.. From my limited experience (10yrs or so point karate, then some kickboxing and bit of mma) I had to change my footwork somewhat in the full contact setting. Bit more grounded and bit less bouncy :) Bit principles remained very close.
A question to which I can't find a good answer? What is the name of the kumite/fighting stance? My sensei called it something like "kamo-dachi" but that means duck stance? What is the Japanese or rather official karate name for the bladed fighting stance that we all use?
Thank you so much for sharing bthis video Sensei..I really missed all those days way way back,,when I was in competition...all of your teaching is one hundred percent true and accurate...
I really liked it, but only thing I would do differently is when moving forward is moving my back leg to front leg then out so I’m not Telegraphing to my opponent that I’m going to attack or move forward.
Buuut... That's a skip.. Unique in its own ways. Best to utilize both/all the ways of advancing and defending in combination with your stirkes/blocks. In TKD the skip is normal, so that would be the telegraph. I beat that notion by using his technique all the time. It just depends on the situation. Peace. Namaste.
Im a yellow belt and some times i fight with someone taller than me how can i bet him? Im little short and i want to know some tricks to do and win pls and whats the mistakes that probably do it and i dont know pls give me some advice that really help me💗
I noticed at 6:09 you are doing a split step prior to moving to your right. You mention that it's faster than just stepping to your right. Is this the same theory of split step in tennis where the wider stance and lower cg enables faster lateral movement?
Could you please demonstrate verious hand and leg technic with this footwork combination? Now I am practicing this basic footwork. Thank you. My name is Soumen Mitra.
Is it possible can you dodge attacks when you're using your stances or person like comes at you with a gun possible can you try to move quicker orchard at this on the person that's Amy a gun that you were having a gun can you still move quick enough and Dodge out of the way when the person that comes at you were for hit open you tried to use a takedown move you have to build up straight into your stances and you're using your stances can you really move faster in a straight full line or move sideways🥋 🤔👍🥋🙏🥋💪😉👍🥋
Thanks ! So I understand that for quick front move you only advice yori ashi and not ayumi ashi nor tsugi ashi ? For the side movement I have troubles to get the right feeling as I feel unstable and if my opponent strike at this moment it's more or less game over and I don't look very fast, isn't simpler to just move your gravity centre (/hara) in the direction you want ? :)
Are the stances (like as stance while standing at a spot) of sparring are not same as we practice in kihon (like zenkutsu dachi, kiba dachi etc) ?? Then what is the importance of stances in kihon?
O practice kyokushin karate and Taekwondo, this stance is sou beutiful, but is it good to kick? I feel that kick using a wide stance is soooo bad. Can you record a video, teaching us kick using front and the back leg, kicking fast? This stance is good for kumite point, but teach us how to use combos using this stance as well? and using it in a street fighter or in mma. I love this stance, but I dont know how to use this in an effective way out of kumite point

@Farhan Zafor wrong questions. It's about the journey, not a match of egos. Do it for YOU! Trust me.
@Farhan Zafor -Of course, the karate master will win! - say every karate practicioner.
-The taekwondo master will beat the karate fighter! - say every taekwondo practicioner.
Now, you have got two valid answers to your question. Are you satisfied? :-)
When you are dribbling are your feet in touch with the ground constantly?
When I tried to fight my toes were gone into my feet and I slipped. Why was this happen?

Thank you for this. The kumite footwork is totally different to boxing footwork and I've always been really curious about it, this was a great explanation thank you.
Its very helpful... arigatou gozaimasu...love and respect from indonesia... OSU!!!
I loved it. Footwork is vey important in karate! Thainks Sensei. Os!
If you keep the legs shoulder width apart (no toe heel line) then lateral movement becomes easier without the triangle step.
Im going to try this during training thank you this seem very helpful

Great explanation. I particularly like the explanation on lateral movement.
Thays accualy the best thing in karate moving in and out
So interesting!

Wonderful work. Great lesson.
Wow thank you for this great video ! Oss 🥋

Why way back when? I'm about to turn 40 and guess what? Competing in May again. Sparring and forms... and I bet ya a nickel, I'll win.
Keeps me fresh
Not all. He taught that the snapping and thrust kicks in karate are only used during side kicks. That was not accurate. Most of them are though
