all the teachers in recess were actually really great people deep down.
No.
Except for that Slicer guy.
@@sougotokiwa8439 ok MOST of them are decent people.
its been ages since i seen this series/movie.
@@sougotokiwa8439 Technically he doesn't count as he wasn't a teacher he never officially got hired.
@@thefanwithoutaface8105 he shouldn't even be walking in public. Dude is a criminal.
Goodbye, Principal Prickly
We will see in the sky someday Mr.prickly. rip.
There are so many stars from my favorite animated shows who are gone, but never forgotten. Dabney Coleman was one of them. He voiced an excellent principal. Goodbye and RIP
@@cristianbonilla5106that he did, he was the best principal the Recess Gang could ever ask for, Rest in Peace Principal Prickly.
Oh yeah that's right The actor did die this year Man how unfortunate they will never be another one like him
@@missebone he is one of a kind, but I hope to see another one like Dabney Coleman. Aka Mr. Prickly
He truly was the best childhood principal ever, and he shall be missed!
Yes I know I’m gonna cry your crying 🥹
And you people will forever use him for views and likes.
Like every other celebrity that died, or did something bad of course.
Him and principal skinner are the best principals in animated history!
Better than the Principal from Big Mouth

I really love how adults on Recess are not one dimensional assholes like in other shows but had actual depth and genuinely cared about those children despite how strict they look from a child's perspective.
Muriel Finster the G.O.A.T.
As a child we all thought they were strict. Now as adults we know they were only strict because they loved and cared about the children under their care.
Not all of them tho hell the Principal lancer from danny phantom is a pretty cool principal same and principal brown is cool too same with miss simeon even tho she is a an asshole the adults in knd they maybe evil but they plenty of moments were they have soft spots especially when they have kids like mr.big who's the father of numbuh 86 but yeah recess is one those cartoons were the adults aren't jerks but cares about there job and the kids 😗
Yeah, I thought they were just jerky adults when I was a kid, but I realized that they did genuinely care for the kids in their care.
Though I do think they could've used some more episodes that flesh that part of them more.
It's just terribly sad that teachers are the same as they were back in the day, at least not all of them.

She might go a little far but she does stop bullying and recklessness, we see how the playground functions without her and it short it does not.
92 years old, he got to live a long time. Guy made a small but notable impact on my childhood. R.I.P. legend, Third Street School will always be with you! See the sunlight, indeed. Disney's Recess is the goat!
Yeah, it was not only a good show, but he did a great job.
And this movie put it all into perspective.
He will always be Principal Prickly, and Franklin Hart, the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot boss of Dolly Parton, Lily Tomlin, and Jane Fonda from 9 to 5
Mind if I ask how he passed at that age I wanna guess old age but you really don’t know what it is now a days, or at least what they put on it.

Gone, but not forgotten.
Agreed.
We don't get younger. But like the clip showes, the memories are nice in this case.
First time😒
As a almost 30 year old....Principal Prickly speech actually hits hard.
Cherish the Memories you Guys made with your Friends.
Cause its true, at some Point you will go outside for the last time playing something dumb with your friends.
And then it will all become a Memory nothing more.
Man, What a great show.
It makes us all wish that we can relive those days, some of us just miss out on what it’s like to actually LIVE. To live in the moment, not a single ounce of worry in our minds.
As a 36 year old, I totally agree. I’m so glad I’m not the only one who feels this way.
33.....everytime I run into kids/teens playing messing around. I have same thought enjoy it while it lasts kids cause then as an adult your lives revolve on working making the rent payment, buying your own groceries(having moments asking themselves is this all there is?!) ... maybe starting their own families....
Dude recess was so good. Glad I got a childhood filled with memories from such a great show! RIP Dabney Coleman
Your crying I’m crying 🥹
RIP Mr. Coleman. Thanks for your amazing performance as Principal Prickly. Let the sun shine in, indeed.
He was also Chief Quimby from Inspector Gadget
Yeah even Stuart Little, even made my childhood
@dellyortega2416 oh yeah I forgot about that
@@dellyortega2416wait, where was he in Stuart Little? 👀
@@supersteve7565He played the doctor who checked up on Stuart after he was in the washing machine.
@@welcometothemetaverse2523 that was him? His role was so little for that scene. R.I.P
His words were so true. It made me realize that every adult was a kid at one point, and for each new generation it needs strong adults who remember what it’s like to be a kid.
From one of the villains to becoming an actual great man. Character development at it's finest.
I mean before he wasnt even against shortening recess, getting rid of it or any other thing. But because he valued summer vacation and it was in danger he got to remember why he even started and came out as a bigger man.
Also the voice actor couldnt have been a better pick. Rest in peace, man.
As an adult the line about treasuring his childhood memories about summer vacation hits harder than back when i first seen the scene as a kid. RIP Mr. Coleman.
I wish real adults learned and grew like this. What a great movie!
I hadn't watched this movie in ages, now hearing that speech really.. moves me
Now as an adult I truly get what he was talking about, rest in peace principal
First Jason Davis, now Dabney Coleman?
Dang, Recess isn't even that old yet it's already lost two voice actors.
R.I.P.
It’s lost more than that. But most are secondary or one offs. A few of the biggest that are gone are Robert Goulet, Christine Cavanaugh, Tony Jay, and David L Lander.
And Robert Stack
Whilst Dabney Coleman's death is a sad loss...he was 92. I get your point about the show not being that old (although the show first aired nearly 27 years ago), but Dabney Coleman would've been in his mid-60s even back then!
"I mean, all things considered, you've been a pretty okay principal, and, well, sir, we're going to miss you." - TJ, Prickly is Leaving. R.I.P. Dabney Coleman
Rest in peace old friend, thank you for giving us all an amazing childhood 🫡
Rest in Peace Dabney Coleman.
Your role as Principle Prickly was iconic.
Gone but never forgotten. Thank you so much for giving us a fantastic childhood, Principal Prickly.
He will be missed 😔
He will I’m crying your crying 🥹
As an elementary school teacher myself I’d give up half my summer to get a principal as good as Prickly.
Same. He’s a rare breed
Ahh... I remember *my* last summer vacation... Good times...
You will be missed, Principal P!
Rest easy, Dabney. We’ll never forget you as the voice of Mr. Prickly on Recess. Thank you for everything.
This guy is the reason i kept in touch with my old grade school teachers. Keep your inner child
R.I.P Pete Prickly. TJ and the gang will miss you
this show understood how much adulthood sucks
As a grown up now, I totally get it. To this day, I still watch old shows and listen to songs that I grew up with more than what’s out today. RIP Principal Prickly
Was scrolling through my home page and saw this. RIP Dabney Coleman, happy you've lived a long life.
I did not know that fella passed away this month. God bless him. I'm sure he did a great job for voicing the principal in Disney's Recess (it's one of my favourite Disney TV programmes of all time).
Started rewatching this show again last year. Fitting since I work at an elementary school part-time. The kids are great. I hope they enjoy childhood to the fullest.
That's sad but...92 years...thats a good solid run. Thanks for the memories!!!
I honestly think I am going to miss Dabney Coleman just for his role as Principal Prickly alone. He will be missed.
One of my favorite childhood movies and definitely one I think back on fondly as a nudge in reminding my _sometimes rebelling teen self_ that adults are just older kids. I know that now more than ever in my 30's with my saggy butt.
Such a freaking good principal character who really understands their students.
R.i.p Dabney coleman. You might be gone, but you'll always be in our hearts as a hero 😢😢😢😢
For those of you wondering, this song had been stuck in my head since the 2000s, its called aquarius/let the sunshine in by the 5th dimension, really good old school funk.
RIP Dabney, you were in everything and i didnt even realize how prolific you were.
YOU WILL BE MISSED PETEY
God, this movie was GLORIOUS. My childhood right here.
Rest in Peace. A childhood memory that will never be forgotten
Still one of the best series Disney has out out there.
Rest In Peace, Dabney Coleman
Dabney Coleman is now in Recess Heaven with Jason Davis (the voice of Mikey Blumberg).
I should see Recess: School's Out on Disney+ this summer in their honor.
And Robert Goulet: The SINGING voice of Mikey!
Damn! Just now, I noticed.😢😭
He made my childhood great every Saturday morning. Rest in peace sir, may you never be forgotten. 😔
RIP Principal Prickly - Miss Finster: DO A FUNERAL MUSIC, PLEASE!
R.I.P Dabney Coleman you will be missed by all of the many people who has ever loved you and cared about you.
Really appreciate you putting the voice actors name and not the characters name. It’s fine to only know them for one role (like me) but I always find it disrespectful when people ignore the person behind the voice
*Fact:* Dabney Coleman was also the voice of Mayor Jerry from _Pound Puppies._
Oh my God! That was him?!? Incredible! As an adult I totally understand the point that he makes. What he says is all too true.
This really bummed me out. I loved Recess and I even re-watched the movies recently just for a little nostalgia trip. The adults in the show were actually really well developed with scenes like this. They were more than just the uptight teachers acting as obstacles for the kids to overcome. Dabney Coleman definitely contributed to Prickly feeling more human with a genuinely great performance.
Thank you, Principal Prickly. ❤ 🕊️💐
Man, Let the Sunshine In is the perfect song for that kind of uplifting ending.
RIP He was my favorite, tough but fair, authority figure growing up. T_T
I love Dabney Coleman. He was a great actor and principal. I'll never forget him
I love love love going down memory lane an see my favorite movie/tv show make me feel like I want to go back and be a kid again 😺😺😺
Though I don’t know much about him and didn’t watch much of Recess, it’s always a shame when a talented actor and voice actor leaves us. Goodbye, Mr. Coleman
He's An Amazing Actor
Recess was an absolute gem, and is probably one of the best-aged kids shows on TV, with a wide cast of both kids and adults that, between them, show the spectrum of childlike fun and mischief contrasted with mutual respect and self-discipline. In a world that was full of "adults suck" shows, this was the one that showed me that even a lot of the stricter adults still had another side to them. God rest your soul Dabney.
that man has left his mark in this world and he will not be forgotten R.I.P
See you on the other side... Pete!
One of two cartoon principals who made not only mine, but also my sister's, childhood awesome. And this movie in particular still defines summer for both of us and is one we both watch every year as soon as our vacations start. No summer without it, as we say. Thanks for reminding us of the good times and keep them as precious memories!
This speech has lived strong in my mind ever since I first heard it as a little girl. It struck me hard then- and then more so as I’ve become the adult he warned us I’d become.
To learn this…… my God.
Farewell, Principal Prickly.
Farewell, Dabney Coleman…. Thank you so very much for one of the most profound lessons of my life.
He lived long and he prospered. In loving memory, we will see him again even if it's not in this world.
Oh my gosh... His speech hits harder now then ever...
I watched 10 seconds of this video, paused, and watched the entire movie again, and now I'm back here
Another great show that tackled serious issues in a not serious way and was an actual enjoyable show
Another childhood for ever in my heart❤. God Rest his Soul.
Thank u for those wonderful words and for showing us that deep down all adults remember those good old days
RIP
Ah Recess, man I love this show ❤
The cast was top tier 😊
Thank you Dabney Coleman not just to be apart of our Childhoods both to teach us and Value the Things we Got and to show us something Important about our Childhoods and Adult Lifes that makes us Rethink we aren’t so Different.
RIP Mr. Prickly. The man who taught me the value of childhood while I was still a child myself.
Man I totally forgot about this show, RIP Mr. Coleman, he shall be missed.
Damn his voice just fits the charecter so flawlessly
I remember adults in my life telling me similar things when I was a kid, that I shouldn't be in a hurry to grow up, enjoy being a kid while I can because it goes fast and you'll miss it when it's gone etc. and I remember not believing any of it, that adulthood was forever away and that with all the freedom, no longer having to go to school, and no rules from parents was going to be so awesome and something to look forward to.
But they were all 100% right, and so was Principal Prickly. Childhood is something you cannot appreciate until it's gone. It's a cruel irony of life that spares no one.
What an absolute legend
RIP to a legend! I will always remember his performance on Recess.
I feel like Dabney Coleman back then could’ve played Barnacle Boy in place of Tim Conway (RIP) .
True! He would’ve made a very good impression at the time!
It hits harder as an adult. Because he’s right, those memories are all we’ve really got left as kids. Maybe some comics or games or other toys, but it’s just really driving home now that those halcyon days are gone for most of us. And it hurts. But what can do other than remember the good times and smile? That’s life, always changing us in one way or another. Just, don’t forget, yeah?
Honestly Principal Prickly is one if the reasons this movie is one of my top 10 favorite Disney Movies. Especially the speech he gave to TJ about adults and their summer vacations when they were kids. It's a lesson I've always carried with me in my heart. Rest In Peace Principal Prickly (Dabney Coleman) sir. You will always be remembered by us Third Street adults who grew up with the show. 🙏🏽
RIP The Greatest Principle!
Till all are one 😢
It's been real.
Farewell principal Prickly, thank you for your work on recess.
Rest In Peace, Dabney Coleman.
May he rest in peace.
These quotes hit so deep now, me pushing 30. Where did my childhood go.😢
Yes, He will truly be missed. Recess was a part of my childhood cartoons
R.I.P. America's Cartoon TV Principal G.O.A.T.
His voice was a part of my childhoood??!!! Thank you sir. :)
He was such a good actor
This hits so hard being 32 now…😢😢
Truly, one of the legends to pass away....🥺
RECESS was such a great show
My childhood memories
Such an inspirational speech. May we never forget those words ❤❤❤
RIP Mr dabney coleman aka principal prickly, I may not have known you in anything else you've been in, but thank you for voice acting the principal to one of my favorite cartoons of my childhood. Also the ending song is a perfect fit.
Wow, i never knew that.
Peace to the fallen
Aw man that sucks, he was a good principal. Definitely rewatch the series forsure
Prickly really was something else. I didn't hate him as a character, but I almost always took TJ's side in their little feud. But then, when TJ accused him of not caring about summer vacation and he stood up, I just knew he was gonna give an impactful speech. And now, in my late twenties, I can say that I relate to him more than ever. I miss being a kid. I really do.
Man, loved that show! Rest in peace 😥
Rest In Peace 🕊️
